Abstract

The wide use of the Internet-based applications bring many challenges to the researchers to guarantee the continuity of the connections needed by the mobile hosts and provide reliable Internet access for them. One of proposed solutions by Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF) is to connect the local, multi-hop, and infrastructure-less Mobile Ad hoc Network (MANET) with Internet structure. This connection is done through multi-interface devices known as Internet Gateways. Many issues are related to this connection like gateway discovery, handoff, address auto-configuration and selecting the optimum gateway when multiple gateways exist. Many studies were done proposing gateway selection schemes with a single selection criterion or weighted multiple criteria. Abstract

Suspended particles in the atmosphere during sand and dust storms have numerous consequences on electromagnetic wave propagation in arid regions. The electromagnetic wave signal may suffer attenuation and cross polarization upon encounter with the suspended particles. However, meager information has hitherto been reported about effect of storms on the telecommunication systems operating in such regions. This paper presents a survey of current understanding of the electromagnetic wave propagation in sand and dust storms. A review of the literature covering electromagnetic scattering theory and applications is given. The review describes the principle of approach and technology adopted for the investigation highlighting both strengths and drawbacks. Detailed parametric assessment of the effects of storms on wave propagation as it concerns signal attenuation and cross polarization is also carried out. The results demonstrate that most authors have calculated the attenuation effect, revealing that it is not very significant unless very high suspended dust densities are assumed (i.e., during severe sand and dust storms). A few papers indicate the possibility of more significant cross polarisation. The obvious gap in knowledge of this field is finally also clearly established. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Abstract

Multicast routing protocols becomes increasingly important in Mobile Ad hoc Networks (MANET) because they effectively coordinate a set of nodes. Meanwhile, multimedia applications become essential need for users of MANET. Such applications are highly demand for Quality of Service (QoS), which makes an efficient QoS multicast routing protocols is very important. In this work we proposed a new position-based QoS multicast routing protocol (PBQMRP). This approach is formed by partitioning the physical area is into equal size hexagonal cells and electing a leader and backup leader nodes for each cell. Efficient routing is performed based on nodes positions to deliver the data to all the receivers. The simulation results show that, comparing with the well-known multicast protocol ODMRP (Demand Multicast Routing Protocol), PBQMRP achieves higher packet delivery ratio with reduced control overhead. Abstract

Recently, the necessity of applications where many users have to interact in a close manner over mobile Ad-Hoc networks gains high popularity. Multicast communication is essential in this type of applications to reduce the overhead of group communication. For group-oriented multimedia applications Quality of Service (QoS) provision is a basic requirement, which makes an efficient QoS multicast routing protocol a very important issue. This paper proposes a location-based QoS multicast routing protocol via cooperation between Network and MAC layers. Along with this protocol, a location and group membership management scheme has been proposed. To further reduce the control overhead and bandwidth consumption, we apply clustering strategy by partitioning the network topology into hexagon cells. Thus, maintaining the network topology is limited to certain nodes. The performance of the proposed protocol is evaluated using GloMoSim simulation environment. Abstract

Emotion Speech Recognition (ESR) is recognizing the formation and change of speaker’s emotional state from his/her speech signal. The main purpose of this field is to produce a convenient system that is able to effortlessly communicate and interact with humans. The reliability of the current speech emotion recognition systems is far from being achieved. However, this is a challenging task due to the gap between acoustic features and human emotions, which relies strongly on the discriminative acoustic features extracted for a given recognition task. Deep learning techniques have been recently proposed as an alternative to traditional techniques in ESR. In this paper, an overview of Deep Learning techniques that could be used in Emotional Speech recognition is presented. Different extracted features like MFCC as well as feature classifications methods including HMM, GMM, LTSTM and ANN have been discussed.
