Wireless power transfer (WPT) has been developed as a suitable candidate for energy transfer in various applications, recently. Resonant tank is the main passive part of such systems and various topologies are introduced to improve WPT systems performance. Characteristics of these topologies definitely affect system overall performance. Therefore, each topology's specification and performance indexes should be evaluated and compared to choose a suitable one for a required application. In this paper, the characteristics and behaviour of voltage gain, input admittance and efficiency of well-known compensation topologies are thoroughly investigated for the first time. By calculating the voltage gain sensitivity, some analysis are performed on typical compensation including SS, SP, LCL-S, LCL-P, LCC-S, LCC-P and double-sided LCC under key parameter variations such as load resistance, switching frequency and coupling coefficient. In addition, by introducing a new formula for efficiency, the effect of resonant tank elements on efficiency is studied analytically which has not been performed before. In order to evaluate the theoretical analysis, the performance of all compensation topologies is investigated in MATLAB environment. By employing prototype SS and SP compensated inductive power transfer (IPT) test-bed system, some experimental verification are performed and the results confirm the analytical and numerical simulation findings. This paper describes the design optimization and analysis of reluctance-synchronous linear motor with a solid or laminated moving part (secondary). The calculation of the motor performance is described using analytical formulation and numerical method. The main advantage of this system is the removal of permanent-magnet secondary and replacing it with a reluctance-type secondary. The first purpose of this paper is designing a reluctance-synchronous linear motor with the maximum-output thrust force and optimum power factor. In this model, a long primary (armature) and a short secondary are evaluated. Distributed winding is considered for design and analysis. Finally, air-gap winding configuration is evaluated. This paper presents an analytical model of axial air gap induction motors with solid rotors that includes the two-dimensional current distribution in the rotor. The model is quasi-three-dimensional and considers the circumferential as well as radial and angular dimensions. Also, one can consider the various arrangements of the stator windings i.e., single layer, double layer, and gramme for this type of motor. The method is valid for both constant current and constant voltage sources. Comparison of the simulation results of the produced torque with the experimental ones shows the high accuracy of the proposed method. Wireless power transfer (WPT) system based on a dynamic wireless charging (DWC) scheme, eliminates waiting time for charging electric vehicles (EVs), increases the range of motion, reduces the size of Li‐ion battery, and automates the charging process. In the DWC method, an EV frequently passes the charger transmitter pads at maximum speed to charge the onboard battery. The charger must have a quick and smooth transient response that employs the proper charging strategy for the battery. Here, a model predictive controller (MPC) is proposed to deploy a suitable DWC based on constant current/voltage (CC/CV) charging protocol. The designed MPC functionality is demonstrated by simulation and experimental results for both CC/CV strategies while battery state of charge (SOC) is estimated by a simple and stable technique in the primary side. The applied CC/CV MPC scheme performs properly in all conditions with a fast critically damped start‐up, which makes it a potential choice to charge EV in dynamic and static modes. The simulation results of the proposed controller are verified by implementing a 90 W WPT testbed at 85.5 kHz switching frequency and 100 mm coils' air gap. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Flux‐switching permanent magnet (FSPM) machine attracted a great deal of attention for industrial applications owing to its high efficiency and high torque/power densities. However, on the downside, it suffers from high cost of rare‐earth permanent magnets (REPMs). Although employing ferrite magnets remarkably reduces the cost of material, ferrite magnet lower energy product will negatively affect the electromagnetic performance of this machine. As a solution, the double‐stator flux‐switching permanent magnet (DSFSPM) machine has been presented in this paper to improve the electromagnetic performance of a conventional ferrite based FSPM counterpart. In this regard, a new analytical approach followed by a brief discussion of the influence of rotor pole number on the electromagnetic performance of two DSFSPM machines with 10‐ and 14‐pole rotors are studied. It is shown that 12/14 DSFSPM machine with ferrite magnets generates almost 30% more developed torque than the other with 10‐pole rotor. Then, a comprehensive comparison on the electromagnetic performances of a 12/14 DSFSPM machine with ferrite magnets, and two 12/14 FSPM machines with REPMs and ferrite magnets are investigated by finite element method. Besides, a cost study highlights the monetary beneficial of the proposed 12/14 DSFSPM machine for the competitive EVs market. Furthermore, a laboratory scale 12/14 DSFSPM machine is designed based on analytical approach, optimized by Taguchi optimization method, and experimentally tested to validate both analytical and FEM results. A dq model representation of segmented secondary linear flux switching motors (SSLFSMs) is investigated. In these motors, the armature and field windings are both mounted in the primary slots and the secondary is only composed of simple laminated segments. This type of motors inherits both merits of high force density from linear synchronous motors and simple secondary structure from linear induction motors. Due to its simple and consequently low‐cost secondary structure, it is applicable to transportation systems like Maglev. Position and speed control of this motor is essential for rail transportation applications. Therefore, derivation of an appropriate analytical model for control purposes is needed. An analytical method to represent the dq model of SSLFSMs is presented. Employing this method, the d‐ and q‐axis inductances and the developed electromagnetic thrust and normal force are calculated. To verify the proposed model, three different finite‐element method‐based models are studied and one is chosen as the basis for comparison. All results obtained by the analytical model are verified by this finite‐element method‐based model. Moreover, a prototype of SSLFSMs is built to validate the study. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
