Abstract

Introduction: Smoking is an independent risk factor for ischemic heart disease and acute myocardial infarction. Smoking raise both heart rate and blood pressure, thus increasing myocardial oxygen demand, moreover it also decreases the dimension of coronary vessel and coronary blood flow. Inferior wall Myocardial Infarction is consequence of disease in usually Right coronary artery, whereas anterior wall Myocardial Infarction is usually disease in left coronary artery. The aim of the study is to evaluate whether smoking influence the incidence of inferior wall MI (Right coronary artery). Objective: To find out whether there is an association between smoking and inferior wall Myocardial Infarction and an early association of atherosclerosis and ischemic heart disease with smoking. Methods: 126 patients of STElevation Myocardial Infarction admitted from the outdoor patient department/ emergency department/ Cardiology OPD in MMIMSR, Mullana, Ambala, considered for study. Those who are willing to participate and fulfilling the inclusion and exclusion criteria. Result: In our study there was a high proportion of smoker in patient with inferior wall MI than other location of MI. Smokers were prone to get myocardial infarction at a younger age as compared to others. Mortality was higher in anterior wall MI as compared to Inferior wall MI. Anterior wall MI presented with more complications i.e. cardiogenic shock and arrhythmias. Conclusion: Smoking enhance the risk of inferior wall MI more than other MI. Smoking thus appear to adversely affect the Right coronary artery to greater extent than left coronary arterial circulation by mechanism yet to be explored. Smoking leads to ischemic heart disease at early age.

Abstract

This paper introduces the Eighth Dialog System Technology Challenge. In line with recent challenges, the eighth edition focuses on applying end-to-end dialog technologies in a pragmatic way for multi-domain task-completion, noetic response selection, audio visual scene-aware dialog, and schema-guided dialog state tracking tasks. This paper describes the task definition, provided datasets, baselines and evaluation set-up for each track. We also summarize the results of the submitted systems to highlight the overall trends of the state-of-the-art technologies for the tasks.

Abstract

The 11 papers in this special section that were part of the Dialog System Technology Challenge. Research competitions have been a long-standing and valuable tradition in the speech and language community. They accelerate the development of new technologies by establishing a shared testbed, cross-validating many potential approaches, and attracting new researchers to the field. DSTC, the Dialog System Technology Challenge, has been a premier research competition for Dialog Systems since its inception in 2013. The earlier Dialog State Tracking Challenges focused on developing a single component for dialog state tracking on goaloriented human-machine conversations. Then, DSTC4 (2015) and DSTC5 (2016) introduced human-human conversations and started to offer multiple tasks not only for dialog state tracking, but also for other components in dialog systems as the pilot tasks. From the sixth challenge (2017), the DSTC has rebranded itself as “Dialog System Technology Challenge” and organized multiple main tracks in parallel to address a wider variety of end-to-end dialog related problems. In line with recent editions of this challenge, DSTC8 focuses on applying end-to-end technologies to Dialog Systems in a pragmatic way. We opened the call for track proposals to the dialog research community and finally held the four parallel main tracks: (1) Multi-domain Task Completion, (2) NOESIS II: Predicting Responses, Identifying Success, and Managing Complexity in Task-Oriented Dialogue, (3) Audio Visual SceneAware Dialog Track, and (4) Scalable Schema-Guided Dialogue State Tracking. This special issue presents more in-depth details of the challenge outcomes.

Abstract

We propose a smart phone application that aids a user to find his lost phone. In this application, we try to find the cases, where a mobile can be separated from the user, by training a classifier. The application identifies specific events, where a mobile phone goes away from the user, thus recording cumulative sensor data. The obtained sensor data can be used for further analysis of mobile phone surroundings which could narrow down the search domain. A more trivial example would be that GPS couldn’t help when you forgot, where the phone has been placed. So, the application can gather the information of surroundings at the last recognized event and make the search more effective.

Abstract

Zero/few-shot transfer to unseen services is a critical challenge in task-oriented dialogue research. The Schema-Guided Dialogue (SGD) dataset introduced a paradigm for enabling models to support any service in zero-shot through schemas, which describe service APIs to models in natural language. We explore the robustness of dialogue systems to linguistic variations in schemas by designing SGD-X - a benchmark extending SGD with semantically similar yet stylistically diverse variants for every schema. We observe that two top state tracking models fail to generalize well across schema variants, measured by joint goal accuracy and a novel metric for measuring schema sensitivity. Additionally, we present a simple model-agnostic data augmentation method to improve schema robustness., Comment: AAAI 2022

Abstract

To improve the accessibility of smart devices and to simplify their usage, building models which understand user interfaces (UIs) and assist users to complete their tasks is critical. However, unique challenges are proposed by UI-specific characteristics, such as how to effectively leverage multimodal UI features that involve image, text, and structural metadata and how to achieve good performance when high-quality labeled data is unavailable. To address such challenges we introduce UIBert, a transformer-based joint image-text model trained through novel pre-training tasks on large-scale unlabeled UI data to learn generic feature representations for a UI and its components. Our key intuition is that the heterogeneous features in a UI are self-aligned, i.e., the image and text features of UI components, are predictive of each other. We propose five pretraining tasks utilizing this self-alignment among different features of a UI component and across various components in the same UI. We evaluate our method on nine real-world downstream UI tasks where UIBert outperforms strong multimodal baselines by up to 9.26% accuracy., Comment: 8 pages, IJCAI 2021

Abstract

Background Infection with the novel severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 has been associated with a hypercoagulable state. Emerging data from China and Europe have consistently shown an increased incidence of venous thromboembolism (VTE). We aimed to identify the VTE incidence and early predictors of VTE at our high-volume tertiary care center. Methods We performed a retrospective cohort study of 147 patients who had been admitted to Temple University Hospital with coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) from April 1, 2020 to April 27, 2020. We first identified the VTE (pulmonary embolism [PE] and deep vein thrombosis [DVT]) incidence in our cohort. The VTE and no-VTE groups were compared by univariable analysis for demographics, comorbidities, laboratory data, and treatment outcomes. Subsequently, multivariable logistic regression analysis was performed to identify the early predictors of VTE. Results The 147 patients (20.9% of all admissions) admitted to a designated COVID-19 unit at Temple University Hospital with a high clinical suspicion of acute VTE had undergone testing for VTE using computed tomography pulmonary angiography and/or extremity venous duplex ultrasonography. The overall incidence of VTE was 17% (25 of 147). Of the 25 patients, 16 had had acute PE, 14 had had acute DVT, and 5 had had both PE and DVT. The need for invasive mechanical ventilation (adjusted odds ratio, 3.19; 95% confidence interval, 1.07-9.55) and the admission D-dimer level ≥1500 ng/mL (adjusted odds ratio, 3.55; 95% confidence interval, 1.29-9.78) were independent markers associated with VTE. The all-cause mortality in the VTE group was greater than that in the non-VTE group (48% vs 22%; P = .007). Conclusions Our study represents one of the earliest reported from the United States on the incidence rate of VTE in patients with COVID-19. Patients with a high clinical suspicion and the identified risk factors (invasive mechanical ventilation, admission D-dimer level ≥1500 ng/mL) should be considered for early VTE testing. We did not screen all patients admitted for VTE; therefore, the true incidence of VTE could have been underestimated. Our findings require confirmation in future prospective studies.
