ContexteLe terme de natifs numériques désigne à l’origine de jeunes adultes particulièrement adroits avec les nouvelles technologies. Sujet à débat, la question de l’identité des natifs numériques reste posée. L’objectif de cette étude est d’identifier les différents profils de natifs numériques, à l’aide d’un outil nouvellement traduit, et de les comparer sur la base de variables psychologiques.MéthodesUn échantillon de 590 participants a été constitué parmi les inscrits à un Massive Open Online Course sur le numérique ainsi que les utilisateurs de sites Internet, réseaux sociaux et forums communautaires. Afin d’obtenir des sous-groupes homogènes, un partitionnement des données via la méthode TwoStep a été réalisée.RésultatsDeux sous-groupes ont été mis en évidence : les natifs numériques et les novices numériques. Les natifs numériques se distinguent notamment des novices numériques par leur âge, leur niveau d’études, leur niveau d’investissement dans les activités numériques, d’urgence positive et négative et de recherche de sensations. DiscussionCette étude met en lumière à quel point les individus sont imprégnés psychiquement dans et par leurs usages du numérique. Ces éléments sont pertinents pour les professionnels désormais amenés à fréquemment être en contact avec des populations immergées dans les nouvelles technologies et vulnérables à leurs dérives.

International audience; Introduction: Alcohol use disorder is a complex issue with various adverse consequences on medical, psychological and social fields. Actually, no clear consensus exists concerning indicators to use when assessing change in patients. The literature however emphasizes the need to employ a variety of criteria. Within this framework, the aim of this study is to gain a better understanding of the change process of patients after six months in care. Methods: The study sample includes 81 patients followed up in an outpatient alcohol-specialized treatment center in France. Two measurement times were planned: at their entry in care and six months later. Several dimensions were investigated: severity of alcohol problems, motivation to change, approach and avoidance inclinations to use alcohol, health-related quality of life, cognitive impairments and time perspectives. Results: We observed several significant evolutions: a lower severity of alcohol problems, lower inclinations to use alcohol, lower levels of ambivalence and recognition of the trouble, and a lower level of the Present Fatalistic time perspective. We noted as well a significant improvement of quality of life and a higher level of the Future time perspective.Conclusion: These results highlight that patients with problematic alcohol use can already experience significant changes after six months in outpatient care. Those patients present a more functional daily life on several areas. Beyond the sole improvement of the mental and physical status of the patient, this specialized care helps to restructure individuals’ perspectives toward life, letting patients to focus on fulfilling projects.

While some research has reported a significant relationship between time perspective and alcohol use, that research has differed considerably in terms of how both variables are operationalized.The present study aimed to investigate this relationship by operationalizing time perspective in three ways, using raw scale scores, using temporal clusters, and using the Deviation from a Balanced Time Perspective approach. Additionally, age-appropriate measures of alcohol-related behavior were used, and alcohol scale scores were assessed as both an ordinal and a categorical measure. Data gathered in adolescents and university students in the United Kingdom were re-analyzed, and new data from a French university sample and a French Treatment Outpatient sample were analyzed. International audience; Context: some studies suggest that temporality is an important determinant in psychoactive substance use. The objective of our study is to determine the psychometric properties of two temporality measures and to compare them. Both measures were then linked to potentially addictive behaviours: use of alcohol, tobacco, cannabis and internet. We also wanted to examine the developmental differences by comparing secondary school and university students.Methods: after obtaining informed consent, French secondary school (n = 256) and university students (n = 263) completed a series of self-evaluations.Results: temporality measures were partially validated. Both measures correlated significantly with certain addiction-risk behaviours.Discussion: in clinical practice, these results support an association between the relationship with time and addiction-risk behaviours. This may contribute to the development of intervention modalities in users during prevention campaigns or care programmes.; Contexte : des études suggèrent que la temporalité est un déterminant important de l'usage des substances psycho-actives. Cette étude vise à établir les propriétés psycho-métriques de deux mesures de temporalité et à les comparer. International audience; Substance addiction in young adults is particularly problematic. Yet, much remain at stake in understanding the specifics of this population’s access to services. The objective of this study is to explore young adults’ perspectives of their initiation of substance abuse treatment. Our study sample was composed of 35 individuals aged 18 to 30 with problematic psychoactive substance use who have been identified in criminal courts, hospital emergency departments and Health and Social Services Centers in Quebec (Canada). A thematic analysis was performed on the 62 semi-structured interviews conducted with participants. Three components emerged from the analysis. First, personal elements—expectations, individual motivations, perceptions of use and capacity to control it—influence initiation of substance abuse treatment. Second, family and peers have noticeable influences. Finally, system characteristics and prior care experiences also shape the process. Young substance users’ initiation of substance abuse treatment lies at the intersection of personal, social and institutional trajectories. Consideration should be given to tailor interventions that can reach young adults and encourage them to initiate appropriate care.

International audience; La pratique des jeux viéo peut parfois devenir problématique et impliquer un ensemble de conséquences négatives pour le joueur et son entourage. La venue en soin des joueurs reste cependant assez rare. Cette recherche explore ainsi le point de vue des parents concernant l'accès au soin des joueurs problématiques. On s'intéresse tout particulièrement aux barrières au traitement, à la demande de soin et à la nature de la pratique de jeu. Des entretiens téléphoniques semi-structurés ont été effectués. L'échantillon final comprend 16 parents ayant contacté pour la première fois l'Espace Barbara, ou parents d'un patient déjà suivi au sein de cette structure du service d'addictologie du Centre Hospitalier Universitaire de Nantes. Des analyses descriptives sont réalisées sur les questionnaires et des analyses thématiques le sont sur les entretiens retranscrits. On constate notamment que la demande de soin survient lorsque la pratique de jeu devient problématique pour l'entourage. Ces derniers donnent également des détails concernant la pratique : trajectoire, motivations et conséquences négatives. La présence de barrières au traitement est soulignée. Le rôle et l'origine de certaines barrières est particulièrement discuté. Cette étude est à notre connaissance l'une des premières à s'intéresser à l'accès au soin des joueurs problématiques de jeux vidéo. Des pistes de réflexion pour améliorer la démarche de soin des joueurs sont envisagées.

International audience; Video game playing can sometimes become problematic and involves a set of adverse effects for the player and his parents. However, only a few players really seek treatment. Research highlight barriers to treatment as factors hindering treatment-seeking process. The purpose of the current study is to explore perspectives of video game players’ parents on health access of problematic video game players. Particular attention is paid to barriers to treatment, help-seeking motivators, characteristics of video game playing, and face validity of a new tool designed to evaluate barriers to treatment of problematic video gamers. Semi-structured phone interviews were used. A mixed methodology was applied on a sample of 16 parents, parents who made a first call to a problematic gaming-specific local health center or parents of problematic players already enrolled in treatment program in the same specialized unit. Descriptive analysis were used on quantitative data and thematic analysis on qualitative data. Results show that help-seeking start when video game playing become a major, subjective, problem for the parents’ players. Furthermore, the parents give more insight on gaming activity: trajectory of use, characteristics of players’ gaming activity, motives and adverse effects. Presence of barriers to treatment is emphasized. Effects and sources of some internal barriers are particularly discussed. Face validity analysis isn’t fully completed. This study is, to our knowledge, one of the first to investigate health access of problematic video game players. Finally, some possible ways for improving problematic players’ help-seeking are suggested.
