Turkish language is agglutinative, thatis, grammatical functions are indicated by addingvarious suffixes to root. There are two mainsuffix classes: in the first class suffixes changethe meaning of the root and make it a new stemvia deriving the stem. New meaning calls theroot’s meaning but stem points to totally newthing. In the other class suffixes adds somefeatures to the root, The thing that is pointeddoesn’t changes but it can marked plural or somecase ending nominative, genitive, dative, accusative, locative and ablative can be added. For example, “ev” means “home”. “Ev-de” means “in home”. “de and da” suffixes alwaysgive the “at that location” meaning. Again verbshave the same property. They have some timesuffixes, wish and order suffixes. There arenearly 200 suffixes in Turkish. And generallyeach suffix gives a meaning to the root.Lots of Turkish linguist says that when Turkishborn the root words has only one syllable. Andnew words are created by adding suffixes tothem. When we are looking for root word weshould look to the word which has one or twosyllable. In this paper different from the other syntheticword synthesis we used syllables method notletter method. We applied all Turkish grammarrules while generating root words. Result rootwords may used as alternative root words fortotally new innovative things.

This paper presents a comparison of supportvector machines (SVM), memory-based learning(MBL) and Naïve Bayes (NB) techniques for theclassification of legitimate and spam mails.Although there are a number of methodcomparativestudies regarding spam mailfiltering, most of the studies are tested onseparate data sets. In order to evaluate theeffectiveness of SVM, MBL and NB methods, wehave used a common publicly available corpus(LINGSPAM). As MBL and NB methods arepreviously tested with this corpus, the obtainedbest parameters are used in the experiments withfew changes. On the other hand, intenseexperiments are made to find the best attributedimensions with SVMs. Results show that SVMhas significantly better performance for no-costand high-cost cases, but NB performs best whenthe cost is extremely high., Bu makalenin amacı, yaramaz (spam) epostaları, normal e-postalardan ayırma süreci için, karar destek makineleri (Support Vector Machines - SVM), bellek tabanlı öğrenme (Memory Based Learning - MBL) ve Naïve Bayes (NB) yöntemlerinin karşılaştırmalı değerlendirmesini yapmaktır.

Leiomyosarcoma of the broad ligament is a rare turnout, since only 15 cases have been reported thus far in the English literature. We describe the case of a 35-year-old patient with primary leiomyosarcoma of the broad ligament. The histologic diagnosis and management of this rapidly progressive and highly malignant tumour are also discussed. The tumor had high mitotic activity and more than ten mitotic figures were found for ten high-power fields. The treatment consisted of total abdominal hysterectomy, bilateral salpingo-oophorectomy and pelvic lymph node dissection. The patient received pelvic radiotherapy and chemotherapy considering the high grade of malignancy. No evidence of metastasis has been noted after a follow-up of 12 months.

Medical and Health Sciences - Abstract
Aim: The purpose of the present study is to investigate the attitude of Intensive Care Unit (ICU) nursing staff towards euthanasia of critically ill patients and the correlation of the findings with demographic and other factors. Material – Method: A self-completed questionnaire was distributed to the sample of the study which included 85 members of a general, an oncology and a pediatric hospital ICU nursing staff. Results: The results revealed that a 44.7% of the staff, is in favor of euthanasia but their knowledge is limited (5.9%), or very limited (32.9%), while the main source of information are the media and the magazines (52.9%). In the question that investigates will of participation, after the patient's demand and given law's permission, to stop or not even begin treatment in patients with end stage disease, 27.1% is opposite, 42.3% is in favor and 30.6% remains indecisive. 50.50% of the sample agrees to legislate late euthanasia under certain conditions, while the 22.4% of the sample remains indecisive. The most important factor in making the decision, was considered the incurable disease, while persistent demand of the family or psychiatric evaluation, were considered less important. Moreover, the staff of the ICU of the pediatric hospital was more positive, in participation in euthanasia under certain circumstances. Conclusion: The education and the information of the staff were considered of great importance in the sensitive issue of euthanasia, as well as a further exploration of the results of the present study.

- Abstract
Aim: The aim of this study was to explore the opinions of nursing personnel about euthanasia of terminally ill patients. Material - Method: The sample consisted of 123 members of nursing personnel working in 5 ICUs and 5 Medical Units of three general hospitals of Athens. Results: The question related to nursing personnel's intention whether they have to stop or not to begin a strong therapeutic regime for the patient who is in the last stage of his life, even if he wants to die and there is a permissive law of euthanasia, the majority of the sample (59.8%) disagrees. Also, the 76.2% of the sample disagrees or is undecided to consent for the acceleration of death of a seriously suffering patient with drugs or other means. Only the 13.2% of the sample is well aware about country's law which does not allow euthanasia. The majority of the sample considered as most important factors the participation of the patient (98.6%) and his family (85.7%) in the decision making process as well as the presence of more than one doctor (89.1%). Conclusions: The majority of the nursing staff disagree or is uncertain (59.8 and 76.2 respectively) about withholding or withdrawing treatment to terminally ill patients or to give their consent on the precipitation of death with the use of drugs or other means.

- Abstract
Background: Eclampsia is rare in molar pregnancy. Sudden cortical blindness in eclampsia is an uncommon but very dramatic experience for the patient. Because of its rarity, blindness associated with eclampsia may pose a significant problem for the obstetrician. Case report: We describe cortical blindness and posterior reversible encephalopathy syndrome (PRES) complicating molar pregnancy-related eclampsia. The clinical presentation in our patient was consistent with PRES associated with eclampsia together with magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) findings. Conclusion: Preeclampsia and eclampsia are regarded as common causes of PRES, which is considered to be the result of vasogenic brain edema caused by a rapid raise in blood pressure. Clinical and imaging findings are usually reversible. Early diagnosis and elimination of possible causes are important in order to avoid permanent visual or brain injury. Imaging (especially MRI) should be carried out in eclamptic patients with visual disturbance in order to exclude other causes of blindness. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Purpose of investigation: In this study we aimed to measure the activity of catalase, which is an antioxidant enzyme, the concentrations of some trace elements and heavy metals, and vitamin A, D and E levels in serum samples of patients with hydatidiform mole, normal pregnancies and healthy non pregnant women. Methods: Seventy-two women were enrolled in this study. Of these, 24 were healthy women in the first trimester of pregnancy (HP), 24 were healthy non-pregnant women (NP) and 24 were patients with complete hydatidiform mole (CHM). Results: Serum levels of catalase, Zn, Co, vitamin A, D and E were significantly lower in the CHM group when compared with the HP and NP groups (p < 0.001). Serum levels of Cu, Fe, and Cd were significantly higher in the CHM group when compared with the HP and NP groups (p < 0.001). Conclusion: The assessment of oxidant/antioxidant imbalance in pregnant women could be useful in the early determination of molar pregnancy and supplementation with antioxidants may be useful in the treatment of CHM, and may prevent recurrent molar pregnancy.

Abstract Background Infertility patients are a vulnerable group that often seeks a non-medical solution for their failure to conceive. World-wide, women use CAM for productive health, but only a limited number of studies report on CAM use to enhance fertility. Little is known about traditional and religious forms of therapies that are used in relation to conventional medicine in Turkey. We investigated the prevalence and types of complementary and alternative medicine (CAM) used by infertile Turkish women for fertility enhancement. Methods A face-to-face questionnaire inquiring demographic information and types of CAM used for fertility enhancement were completed by hundred infertility patients admitted to a primary care family planning centre in Van, Turkey between January and July 2009. Results The vast majority of infertile women had used CAM at least once for infertility. CAM use included religious interventions, herbal products and recommendations of traditional "hodja's" (faith healers). Of these women, 87.8% were abused in the last 12 months, 36.6% felt not being supported by her partner and 80.5% had never spoken with a physician about CAM. Conclusions Infertile Turkish women use complementary medicine frequently for fertility enhancement and are in need of information about CAM. Religious and traditional therapies are used as an adjunct to, rather than a substitute for, conventional medical therapy. Physicians need to approach fertility patients with sensitivity and should be able to council their patients about CAM accordingly.

Medicine - Abstract
Abstract Introduction We report an unusual case of upper airway compromise complicated by thyroid storm in a pregnant woman with Graves' disease, ending with the in utero death of the fetus. This complication might have developed due to upper airway edema as a result of poorly controlled hyperthyroidism. Case presentation A 41-year-old Turkish woman at 27 weeks' gestation suffering from Graves' disease was referred to our emergency department with a diagnosis of respiratory arrest. She was unconscious and had been intubated. Her laboratory results were compatible with thyrotoxicosis. The patient had suffered from respiratory difficulty for a long time and had stopped using her antithyroid medications after the first trimester of pregnancy. One day before, she had visited an obstetrician because her respiratory distress had increased. At that time, her fetus was still alive. She was given oxygen therapy and then sent home. With a presumptive diagnosis of thyroid storm, she was admitted to the intensive care unit and treated with aggressive medical therapy. The baby was found to be no longer alive and was delivered vaginally after labor induction. The mother was discharged 10 days later with maintenance therapy. Conclusion Hyperthyroidism during pregnancy warrants very close attention and should almost always be treated with appropriate antithyroid medications. Maternal respiratory distress in such patients can be an early sign of impending upper airway compromise and thyroid storm, which can endanger the mother and fetus unless prompt and aggressive therapy is initiated.

2017 International Conference on Computer Science and Engineering (UBMK) -- OCT 05-08, 2017 -- Antalya, TURKEY, WOS: 000426856900050, Positioning applications become more popular with the advancement of location aware services. Global Positioning System is a successful solution for outdoors whereas it is not suitable for indoor environments due to the lack of line of sight for radio frequency signals. Therefore, various systems have been developed to solve the indoor positioning problem. Enhancing the performance of these systems is a critical issue. Several types of measurements and classification algorithms are employed to improve the positioning performance. The aim of this work is to enhance the performance of the indoor positioning system via the integration of different features (sensor measurements) and classification algorithms. For this purpose, firstly Wi-Fi Received Signal and magnetic field sensor values are combined to construct a hybrid fingerprint map. Then, the selected classifiers including decision tree, multi-layer perceptron, and Bayesian network are integrated using majority voting method. The test results demonstrate that the ensemble of sensor measurements and classifiers outperform the other individual classification algorithms in terms of classification accuracy. The proposed approach yielded the average distance error of 1.23 meter approximately., IEEE Adv Technol Human, Istanbul Teknik Univ, Gazi Univ, Atilim Univ, TBV, Akdeniz Univ, Tmmob Bilgisayar Muhendisleri Odasi, Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (TUBITAK) [1130024], This work is supported by The Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (TUBITAK) under grant number 1130024.

2017 International Conference on Computer Science and Engineering (UBMK) -- OCT 05-08, 2017 -- Antalya, TURKEY WOS: 000426856900059 The aim of this study is to compare the successes of various distance metrics and to determine the most appropriate methods in order to detect similarities among textual documents written in Turkish. Computing similarities between text documents is the basic step of plagiarism detection, and text mining methods like author detection, text classification and clustering. Therefore, plagiarism detection and text mining applications will be more successful by using the distance metrics that are determined according to the results obtained in this study. For this purpose, chunks of texts in different lengths are selected as the experimental dataset in this study. After that, preprocessing methods are applied to the dataset that is used; therefore new and different experimental scenarios are created by removing stopwords and Turkish characters, and stemming words with Zemberek. According to the experimental results, it is observed that the preprocessing phase increases the accuracy of similarity detection. Especially, stemming using Zemberek increases the success rate. In all cases, the Cosine Similarity method has been observed as more successful than other distance metrics, because of producing more realistic results. 2017 International Conference on Computer Science and Engineering (UBMK) -- OCT 05-08, 2017 -- Antalya, TURKEY WOS: 000426856900057 In optimization problems, Genetic Algorithms are one of the most commonly used methods to search optimum points of a given function. These algorithms stochastically select the individual that is close to the optimum point in the population. By choosing appropriate individual in each iteration, it is desired to find the best individual step by step, or converge to the best individual. Therefore, it is significantly important to have a decent selection method in genetic algorithms. In this paper, it is aimed to improve Aggressive and Integrated Aggressive Selection methods which were already proposed. The performance of the improved methods that are proposed in this paper are compared with aggressive selection methods and integrated aggressive selection methods, as well as, most commonly used standard selection methods; Roulette Wheel, Linear Ranking and Tournament. It is observed that results of improved methods are predominant comparing to the other algorithms. - Abstract
Background: Oncostatin M, a novel adipokine, plays a role in oogenesis, lipogenesis, and inflammation and may contribute to polycystic ovary syndrome pathogenesis and related metabolic problems. Adipokines are believed to contribute to developing polycystic ovary syndrome and its accompanying metabolic parameters, such as dyslipidemia, insulin resistance, and cardiovascular diseases. Methods: In this case-control study, the patients were grouped in a 1:1 ratio into either the polycystic ovary syndrome ( n = 32) or the control group ( n = 32). Serum levels of fasting glucose, insulin, C-reactive protein, low-density lipoprotein cholesterol, high-density lipoprotein cholesterol, triglyceride, white blood cell count, thyroid-stimulating hormone, luteinizing hormone, follicle-stimulating hormone, total testosterone, prolactin, estradiol, homeostasis model assessment of insulin resistance, and oncostatin M were analyzed. Results: Oncostatin M levels were significantly lower, but C-reactive protein levels were substantially higher in the polycystic ovary syndrome group than in the control group ( p = 0.002, p = 0.001, respectively). Oncostatin M was inversely correlated with total cholesterol, non-high-density lipoprotein cholesterol, fasting glucose, and the luteinizing hormone/follicle-stimulating hormone ratio (ρ = -0.329, p =0.017; ρ = -0.386, p = 0.005; ρ = -0.440, p = 0.001; ρ = -0.316, p = 0.023, respectively). Conversely, there was no correlation between oncostatin M and total testosterone level (ρ = 0.220; p = 0.118). In the context of inflammation and metabolic parameters, oncostatin M was inversely correlated with C-reactive protein, homeostatic model assessment for insulin resistance score, and low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (ρ = -0.353, p = 0.019; ρ = -0.275, p = 0.048; ρ = -0.470, p < 0.001, respectively). Conclusions: Plasma oncostatin M levels were considerably lower in patients with polycystic ovary syndrome than in the control group, and this was inversely correlated with the hormonal and metabolic parameters of polycystic ovary syndrome. Thus, oncostatin M may be a novel therapeutic target for polycystic ovary syndrome and its metabolic parameters.

- Abstract
Background: Polycystic ovary syndrome is known to be the most common hormonal disorder in women of reproductive age. Current evidence shows that regulatory proteins secreted from the adipose tissue called adipokines may have a role in polycystic ovary syndrome. We planned to investigate the role of endotrophin that has never been researched in polycystic ovary syndrome before and its correlation with other metabolic parameters and adipokines such as adiponectin and ghrelin in patients with polycystic ovary syndrome., Methods: Forty-three women ( n : 43) with polycystic ovary syndrome and 43 ( n : 43) women as a control group were enrolled in this cross-sectional study. Serum levels of endotrophin, adiponectin, and ghrelin levels were measured with the enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay method. High-density lipoprotein cholesterol, low-density lipoprotein cholesterol, total cholesterol levels, luteinizing hormone/follicle-stimulating hormone ratio, total testosterone, and triglyceride levels were measured. Homeostasis model assessment for insulin resistance index, body mass index, Ferriman Gallwey Score, and waist-to-hip ratio were also evaluated., Results: Total testosterone, homeostasis model assessment for insulin resistance, C-reactive protein, luteinizing hormone/follicle-stimulating hormone ratio, and triglyceride levels were higher in patients with polycystic ovary syndrome ( p < 0.01). No difference was detected between the groups in terms of body mass index, Ferriman Gallwey Score, waist-to-hip ratio, total cholesterol, low-density lipoprotein, and high-density lipoprotein levels ( p > 0.05). We did not observe any significant difference in adiponectin and ghrelin levels between the groups ( p > 0.05). Patients with polycystic ovary syndrome had significantly higher endotrophin levels ( p < 0.01). According to our regression analyses [area under the curve: 0.973 (0.935-1.000), 95% confidence interval, 95.2% sensitivity, and 100% specificity], it was shown that endotrophin greater than 92 ng/ml and homeostasis model assessment for insulin resistance greater than 2.5 might be good predictors for polycystic ovary syndrome diagnosis., Conclusion: We demonstrated that endotrophin level is higher in patients with polycystic ovary syndrome and may have predicted polycystic ovary syndrome with increased homeostasis model assessment for insulin resistance index. There was no significant difference in adiponectin and ghrelin levels in the polycystic ovary syndrome group. Endotrophin may have a role in polycystic ovary syndrome etiology rather than other adipokines., Competing Interests: Conflict of interest statement: The authors declared no potential conflicts of interest with respect to the research, authorship, and/or publication of this article., (© The Author(s), 2021.)

- Abstract
Objectives: To investigate the fibrinogen/albumin ratio (FAR) of pregnant women with abortus imminens (AI) and its prognostic value for predicting spontaneous abortion., Methods: A total 102 early pregnancies, 52 had been diagnosed with AI and 50 ages and body mass index matched healthy control pregnant women were included in this prospective observational study conducted in the Research and Training Hospital, Balikesir University, Balikesir, Turkey between September 2019 and August 2020. Fibrinogen/albumin values were compared between AI and control group., Results: The rate of spontaneous abortion in AI pregnancies was 26.9% in our study population. Fibrinogen/albumin ratio levels were higher in AI pregnancies than in controls ( p =0.0088). The regression analysis have shown that the increased FAR value (odds ratio [OR]: 7.3116 [95% CI: 1.3119 to 40.7507]; p =0.0232) was an independent marker for spontaneous abortion prediction in AI pregnancies., Conclusion: Pregnancies with AI have increased levels of FAR compared to healthy pregnancies. Fibrinogen/albumin ratio is an independent marker for predicting spontaneous abortion., (Copyright: © Saudi Medical Journal.)

- Abstract
The chronic course of endometriosis suggests that the immune system may play a role in its aetiology. There may be resistance to cell lysis, as well as an immune defect underlying endometriosis. Granzyme B is a serine protease that is secreted by Natural Killer (NK) cells and cytotoxic T lymphocytes during a cellular immune response and can induce apoptosis. The aim of this study was to evaluate the relationship between both Granzyme B levels and Granzyme B gene polymorphisms in endometriosis patients. Women between the ages of 20 - 45 were included in the study. The patients were divided into two groups: those diagnosed with endometriosis and those who had not been diagnosed with endometriosis. In the blood samples, Granzyme B gene polymorphisms and serum levels of Granzyme B were studied. There was no difference between the groups in terms of median Granzyme B levels and the presence of AA, AG, and GG genotypes. There was a difference in median granzyme levels for the control group; the GG genotype was found at a lower frequency. The immune defect within endometriosis-related immune cells may not be exclusively due to Granzyme B. Other mediators that are secreted from immune cells may have additive effects.IMPACT STATEMENT What is already known on this subject? NK cells are cytotoxic and inhibit the implantation of autologous endometrial cells that are spilled into the peritoneum by retrograde menstruation. Thus, a reduction in NK cell activity may facilitate the progression of endometriosis. The literature review reveals that there are studies suggesting that NK cell activity may be insufficient in endometriosis. Granzyme B is a serine protease that is secreted by NK cells and cytotoxic T lymphocytes during a cellular immune response. What do the results of this study add? Granzyme B is one of the cytotoxic granules in NK and cytotoxic T lymphocyte cells and its genetic polymorphisms were tested in endometriosis. We found that median Granzyme B levels were significantly different in patients with the GG genotype in the control group, compared to those with the AA and AG genotype. However, this difference was not detected between the control and endometriosis groups. What are the implications of these findings for clinical practice and/or further research? Our results contribute to uncovering the pathogenesis of endometriosis since there are no previous studies in the literature regarding this topic. Although we did not find a difference, our results will inform further studies made on this topic. Studies with different molecules and an increased number of patients are needed. The immune defect of endometriosis may not be due exclusively to Granzyme B. Other mediators that are secreted from immune cells may have mutual effects and interactions.

Background: Endometriosis is an estrogen-dependent inflammatory disease that often causes infertility and chronic pelvic pain. Although endometriosis is known as a benign disease, it has demonstrated characteristics of malignant neoplasms, including neoangiogenesis, tissue invasion, and cell implantation to distant organs. Octamer-binding protein 4 (Oct-4) is a molecular marker for stem cells that plays an essential role in maintaining pluripotency and self-renewal processes in various types of benign and malignant tissues. CD44 is a multifunctional cell surface adhesion molecule that acts as an integral cell membrane protein and plays a role in cell-cell and cell-matrix interactions. E-cadherin is an epithelial cell-cell adhesion molecule that plays important role in the modulation of cell polarization, cell migration, and cancer metastasis. The aim of this study was to investigate the expression patterns of Oct-4, CD44, and E-cadherin in eutopic and ectopic endometrial tissues from women with endometrioma compared to control endometrial tissues from women without endometrioma., Methods: In the present study, Oct-4, CD44, and E-cadherin expressions were evaluated in eutopic and ectopic endometrial tissue samples from women with endometrioma (n = 32) and compared with those of control endometrial tissue samples from women without endometrioma (n = 30)., Results: Immunohistochemical expression of Oct-4 was significantly higher in the ectopic endometrial tissue samples of women with endometrioma than in the control endometrial tissue samples (p = 0.0002). Conversely, CD44 and E-cadherin expressions were significantly lower in the ectopic endometrial tissue samples of women with endometrioma than in the control endometrial tissue samples (p = 0.0137 and p = 0.0060, respectively). Correlation analysis demonstrated significant correlations between Oct-4 expression and endometrioma cyst diameter (p = 0.0162), rASRM stage (p = 0.0343), and total rASRM score (p = 0.0223). Moreover, CD44 expression was negatively correlated with the presence of peritoneal endometriotic lesions (p = 0.0304) while E-cadherin expression was negatively correlated with the presence of deep infiltrating endometriosis (p = 0.0445)., Conclusions: Increased expression of Oct-4 and decreased expression of adhesion molecules in endometriotic tissues may contribute to the development and progression of endometriosis.
