Of the large number of petroglyph sites known in Peru, in this paper we deal with those located in an extensive archaeological area located in the southernmost part of the country, extending through the high mountains of the Illomas ravine (District of Chuquibamba. Province of Condesuyos. Department of Arequipa), conforming an extensive archaeological complex different from the known sites in the south of Peru, when allowing an approximation to the correlation that existed between the rupestrian engravings and the human settlements. That characteristic makes it singularly important to try to fix the chronological-cultural contexts and their meaning, starting from the consideration that these must have constituted a unit with its archaeological and geographical environment, forming an integral part of the daily life of the communities that settled and developed in the region of Illomas. Undoubtedly, it constitutes an archaeologically singular geographic area in terms of type of archaeological site and rock representations, evidence that make it possible to attempt an approximation to the model of adaptation that the ancient settlers of Peru developed in this geographic environment and the mentality that surrounded it. This essay is the result of the participation in the international conference "1972-2022. Il Patrimonio Mondiale alla prova del tempo," which aimed to highlight how environmental conditions, materials, and local techniques affect interventions in architectural heritage. This essay emphasizes that projects often face cultural frictions and communication problems rather than economic or technical factors. It draws on personal experience, using Cuba as a case study, and analyses it ex post facto through the theory of intercultural competence. It recognizes adaptation as a circular, iterative process influenced by feedback between competencies and experiences, characterized by an inherent asymmetry in intercultural relations. It emphasizes the importance of the "tetrad" of attitudes, skills, knowledge, and self-awareness for adaptation and advocates their inclusion in the training of expatriate professionals. El objetivo de este trabajo consiste en realizar la adaptación cultural y el estudio psicométrico de la versión española del Job Contents Questionnaire en trabajadores de Ciudad Autónoma de Buenos Aires y de Gran Buenos Aires. La muestra se conformó de 331 (70% es de género femenino y 30% es de género masculino, media de edad de 33,15, DS=11,84). Primero se realizó una adaptación cultural mediante la evaluación de jueces expertos y una prueba piloto. La versión adaptada se conformó de 29 ítems. Para evaluar el comportamiento de los ítems se realizó un análisis factorial exploratorio bajo la modalidad de correlaciones policóricas aplicando el método de mínimos cuadrados no ponderados (ULS) con un método de rotación Varimax. El instrumento quedó constituido por 21 ítems que se adecúan al modelo propuesto por Karasek. Los ítems que componen el factor Demandas (5), Control (6) y Apoyo Social (10). Los resultados evidencian criterios de validez aparente, de contenido y de constructo, con excelentes índices de fiabilidad (alfas ordinales mayores a .86). Además, se evidenció validez externa tomando como medida de criterio la escala de Ansiedad Estado del STAI. El instrumento presentó propiedades psicométricas satisfactorias para su aplicación en el contexto local.

The migratory process occurs due to several factors; however, it can be hampered when cultural adaptation does not occur. Therefore, understanding how the cultural adaptation process occurs through the immigrant's perception reveals relevant information about this process. This article is based on Berry's acculturation model and McCubbin and Patterson's Double ABC-X model, aiming to describe the adaptation process of Brazilians in Germany. 113 Brazilians who lived in Germany between 2014 and 2016 responded to an online questionnaire containing a sociodemographic inventory and two questions that explored possible stressors and resources for their adaptation. The data were analyzed using the IRAMUTEQ software, with the results divided into two textual corpora: stressors and resources, with their generated response classes named according to the content they presented. The main stressors were difficulties in the relationship created by a lack of knowledge of the language, the lack of family members who remained in Brazil, and cultural differences between the two countries, which confused communication and difficulty in relationships. Some stressors became resources over time, such as language, present in both textual corpora. The articulation between McCubbin and Patterson's Double ABC-X model and Berry's acculturation theory proved to be valid in the sense that it is possible to decompartmentalize acculturation strategies developed based on existing stressors and resources and carried out by people, observing how, over time, stressors can be perceived as resources. Introducción: El proceso por el cual un empleado da forma, modela o redefine su trabajo ha sido conceptualizado como Job Crafting. La escala para su evaluación es un instrumento sólido, aceptable y útil; sin embargo, no se hallaron estudios de validación en Cuba. Objetivo: Validar la escala Job Crafting en la Empresa de Servicios de Seguridad Integral (Seisa). Métodos: Se realizó un estudio de evaluación tecnológica para el cual se estimó una muestra de 278 trabajadores. Se consultaron dos grupos de jueces: uno para la adaptación cultural y otro para la validación de contenido. Se calculó la concordancia entre los expertos. Se midió la consistencia interna con la técnica estadística alfa de Cronbach. Se utilizó la V de Aiken y se realizó un Análisis Factorial Exploratorio. Resultados: El 100 % de los jueces consideró que la escala presentaba equivalencia conceptual e instrumental, así como equivalencia semántica y experiencial. La totalidad de los expertos calificó los ítems como claros, relevantes y suficientes. Los puntajes de la versión cubana del Job Crafting presentaron evidencias de validez de estructura interna con la obtención de un coeficiente de alfa de Cronbach de .732. El porcentaje de la varianza explicada acumulada ascendió al 95,6 %. Conclusiones: El rediseño del puesto de trabajo puede ser evaluado a través de la escala Job Crafting, la cual demostró poseer adecuada validez de contenido y constructo y ser confiable para el personal trabajador cubano Introduction: Job crafting is the process by which an employee gives shape to, models or redefines their job. The scale for its evaluation is a solid, acceptable and useful tool. However, validation studies were not found in Cuba. Objective: Validate the Job Crafting Scale at the Comprehensive Security Services Enterprise (SEISA). Methods: A technological evaluation study was conducted of a sample of 278 workers. Two groups of judges were consulted: one for cultural adaptation and the other for content validation. An estimation was made of the level of agreement between the experts. Internal consistency was measured with Cronbach's alpha statistical technique. Use was made of Aiken's V coefficient and exploratory factor analysis was performed. Results: 100% of the judges considered that the scale displayed conceptual and instrumental as well as semantic and experiential equivalence. All the experts described the items as clear, relevant and sufficient. The scores in the Cuban version of the Job Crafting Scale showed evidence of internal structure validity, with a Cronbach's alpha coefficient of .732. Cumulative explained variance was as high as 95.6%. Conclusions: Job redesign may be evaluated with the Jog Crafting Scale, which proved to have appropriate content and construct validity, and be reliable for Cuban employees

La inmigración se ha multiplicado casi por seis en los últimos treinta años en Chile; sin embargo, es escaso el conocimiento sobre sus estrategias de adaptación cultural, discriminación percibida y bienestar, tres dimensiones que en este artículo se miden en una ciudad intermedia (Talca, Chile), recurriendo a una muestra no probabilística de migrantes sudamericanos compuesta por 255 adultos emparejados por género, que en su mayoría son venezolanos, de alto nivel educativo, biculturales (92.4%), y con un índice de bienestar alto (M=8.56 sobre 10, DE=1.21). Los resultados indican que 41.1% percibe alta discriminación, y que existe una relación negativa significativa entre la discriminación percibida y la tendencia al biculturalismo y el bienestar.

El objetivo fue describir la traducción y la adaptación cultural del examen mental de Carlos Alberto Seguín para el idioma quechua. El proceso de adaptación cultural siguió las etapas de traducción, retrotraducción, comité de jueces y prueba piloto. El piloto fue realizado con 20 personas quechua hablantes que acudieron por evaluación mental al Hospital Regional de Huancavelica. La versión traducida y adaptada del cuestionario se mostró como un instrumento adecuado para atender a pacientes durante el diagnóstico y seguimiento de pacientes quechua hablantes de nuestra región, siendo que contribuye en lograr una atención eficaz y con equidad.

Durante estos dos últimos años la pandemia originada por la COVID-19 ha tenido consecuencias fatales para el turismo, llevando a los investigadores y expertos a buscar soluciones ante una nueva situación epidemiológica. La aparición del cuestionario Pandemic (COVID-19) Anxiety Travel Scale (PATS) permite valorar la ansiedad previa a viajar, evaluando problemas de salud cognitivos relacionados con la pandemia y encontrándose adaptada al sector turístico. El objetivo de este estudio es traducir y adaptar a español la escala PATS. El procedimiento utilizado fue la adaptación transcultural de la versión original del documento mediante traducción directa al español e inversa al inglés. Se obtuvo la versión española de la escala PATS sin identificarse ningún ítem como conflictivo. El cuestionario PATS ha demostrado ser una herramienta potencialmente útil, rápida (5 ítems) y fácil de administrar para identificar la ansiedad previa a los viajes en diferentes sectores de la población.

This study aimed to adapt the Work-Health Balance questionnaire (WHBq; (Gragnano, Miglioretti, Frings-Dresen, & de Boer, 2017) into Spanish and to provide evidence for its factorial structure, reliability, and validity. WHBq comprises 17 items with three scales: Work-Health Incompatibility (WHI), Health Climate (HC) and External Support (ES). It was applied to a sample of Mexican workers (n =316). Confirmatory factor analysis revealed that the three-factor model replicating the original structure provided good fit (CFI = 0.950; SRMR = 0.051; RMSEA = 0.069). The reliability of each factor and the whole questionnaire were satisfactory (a and ? higher than 0.70). The AVE was lower than 0.50 only for ES. Solutions to this problem are discussed. Concurrent and differential validity was examined with external criteria. The WHBq in its Spanish version shows good psychometric properties and theoretically consistent relationships with external variables. Una dificultad para el avance en la investigación del aprendizaje autorregulado en general, y las diferencias de género en particular, está relacionada con la medida de los diferentes componentes y procesos autorregulatorios. Por ello, el presente estudio tiene como objetivo adaptar y analizar 1) la estructura interna, fiabilidad e invarianza en función del género del Motivated Strategies for Learning Questionnaire (MSLQ) en español y 2) las diferencias entre hombres y mujeres en las dimensiones y subdimensiones del MSLQ. Han participado 428 estudiantes universitarios (73,7% mujeres). Los resultados han evidenciado que esta adaptación es más breve que la versión original y presenta mejores propiedades métricas que otras versiones. La herramienta posee una estructura y pesos factoriales comunes (invariancia métrica) para varones y mujeres que garantiza la validez de las comparaciones por género. Se han hallado diferencias de moderadas a altas a favor de las mujeres en el valor concedido a la tarea, distintas estrategias de aprendizaje y ansiedad ante los exámenes. Este estudio da respuesta a la necesidad de contar en España con un instrumento adaptado culturalmente a nuestro contexto, válido y fiable y ahonda en las diferencias de género en el aprendizaje autorregulado, constructo clave para desarrollar con éxito la formación académica en la actualidad. This study aimed to carry out the cultural adaptation and present initial evidence about the psychometric characteristics of the Weight Bias Internalization Scale in the Brazilian context, through three steps: translation, semantic validation, and pretest. The results indicated that the synthesis of the translations, performed by two independent translators, was considered unsatisfactory and it was necessary to obtain a new consensus version with an Expert Committee. This last one was back-translated and used in semantic validation with 18 people, confirming the proper understanding of the items after alterations in two of them. In the pretest, with 54 people, Cronbach's alpha was considered adequate (0.833), with floor and ceiling effects observed in nine and four items, respectively. Pearson's correlation coefficient showed the presence of strong and moderate correlations. The measurement of weight bias internalization represents an important tool to support more effective therapeutic strategies with a view to comprehensive and humanized care. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Phonological awareness is an essential skill for reading, writing, and mathematics performance. Therefore, it is suggested that it be monitored and evaluated preferably during preschool as a form of early intervention to prevent learning difficulties after formal education. However, it is necessary to have qualified instruments for its evaluation and, in Mozambique, none assesses this skill. Therefore, this study aimed to culturally adapt the Phonological Awareness Test by Oral production (PATOP) to the Mozambican context and was conducted in two phases: semantic equivalence and content validation. The Content Validity Index (CVI) was 0.96; although it is considered excellent, further studies need to be carried out to verify other validity, reliability, and standardization parameters. Nevertheless, it is expected that the instrument contributes to the evaluation of phonological awareness and that, above all, the skill is part of activities of stimulation and intervention in preschoolers. The study of adolescent dating violence is relevant for Public Health, given its predictive nature and the social impact of this variable on the coexistence of the adult population. Dating violence rating scales need to be validated to ensure the reliability and certainty of their results. Objective: To analyze the psychometric properties of the modified M-CTS conflict tactics scale in the context of dating violence among Ecuadorian adolescents. Materials and methods: This is a validation study through confirmatory factor analysis and analysis of linguistic and cultural variables, with probabilistic sampling (n = 1249) with ages between 12-20 years, who met the requirements of having or having had a dating relationship. Results: 6 questions were culturally modified, and the 4-factor structure of the questionnaire was verified (argumentation, psychological violence, mild physical and severe physical). Low reliability was found for the perpetrator argument (0.26) and victimization (026) items and good reliability for severe physical violence for both profiles (0.80 and 0.76). Main conclusions: The cultural adaptation of the M-CTS offered adequate validity for the diverse types of violence in the Ecuadorian adolescent population, allowing to compare the prevalence found in other countries that used this instrument based on the same theoretical and methodological perspectives. The current study utilized a three‐step cultural adaptation process to adapt a universal‐coparenting program for Latinx adolescent parents in a school‐based setting. First, focus groups were conducted with adolescent parents (n = 13; 100% Latinx; 69% female), their parents (n = 17; 94% Latinx; 82% female), and school staff (n = 7; 71% White; 100% female) to identify unique needs faced by this population. Second, the program was adapted to include new lesson modules (e.g., coparenting with grandparents, coparenting after breakups) and structural reformatting to fit a school schedule. Third, selected lessons from the adapted program were piloted in four schools with 32 Latinx adolescent parents (97% Latinx; 78% female). Lesson evaluation surveys and focus group data assessed the feasibility and acceptability of the service delivery method and content to show the program was well received. However, implementation challenges emerged when attempting to provide services to adolescent fathers and Spanish‐speaking adolescents. This manuscript provides an example of how to use this cultural adaptation process to tailor prevention programs, highlights a new prevention program that can serve as a resource for adolescent parents, and provides several recommendations for working with Latinx adolescent parents. RESUMEN Introducción: La dermatitis asociada a la incontinencia es un importante problema de salud que puede comprometer la salud de quienes la sufren y representa importantes costes para el Sistema de Salud. La Perineal Assessment Tool es el único instrumento diseñado específicamente para evaluar el riesgo de la dermatitis asociada a la incontinencia. Objetivos: realizar la adaptación transcultural y el análisis de las propiedades psicométricas de la versión española de la Perineal Assessment Tool. Método: Se utilizó un diseño de estudio observacional dividido en tres fases. En la primera fase se llevó a cabo un proceso de traducción y adaptación transcultural de la escala. En la segunda fase, se realizó una prueba piloto (n = 15) utilizando un diseño transversal para determinar la viabilidad, la fiabilidad intraobservador e interobservador, y la validez de contenido de la versión española de la escala. Finalmente, en la tercera fase se realizó un estudio transversal utilizando una muestra de 171 pacientes para determinar la prevalencia de dermatitis asociada a la incontinencia y analizar la consistencia interna, la validez de criterio y constructo, la sensibilidad, la especificidad, el valor predictivo positivo y negativo, así como los puntos de corte de la escala. Resultados: En la primera fase, la versión española de la escala Perineal Assessment Tool demostró ser viable, administrable en menos de 3 minutos, fácil de comprender y completar. En la segunda fase, el índice de validez del contenido global de la versión española de la escala Perineal Assessment Tool fue de 0,83; la fiabilidad intraobservador, de 0,98, y la fiabilidad interobservador, de 0,99. En la tercera fase, la versión española de la escala Perineal Assessment Tool mostró una consistencia interna de 0,601 y una correlación significativa con los apartados de humedad de las escalas de valoración de riesgo de úlceras por presión Braden y EMINA. La curva de ROC fue de 0,959 y los mejores valores fueron los presentados en una puntuación de 7, mostrando un valor predictivo positivo del 96,7%, un valor predictivo negativo del 0,6%, una sensibilidad del 74,4%, una especificidad del 99,2% y, finalmente, una validez global del 93,6%. Conclusiones: La versión española de la Perineal Assessment Tool ha demostrado ser un instrumento válido y fiable para la evaluación de la dermatitis asociada a la incontinencia en pacientes institucionalizados en el contexto español.

Antecedentes: Aunque se dispone de información sobre el desempeño de los estudiantes, los datos sobre prácticas y procesos organizacionales que los líderes educativos pueden establecer para fomentar la mejora en sus centros son más limitados. Este estudio presenta el proceso de adaptación cultural y validación de una escala con estos propósitos: la Escala de Coherencia Interna (ECI), para su aplicación en el contexto español de la Educación Médica. Métodos: La adaptación cultural incluyó: traducciones directas y retro-traducciones, llegando a un cuestionario pre-final que se sometió a una prueba Pre-test. La validación incluyó un análisis de la concordancia (fiabilidad inter-observador). Participaron 17 profesores de distintas asignaturas de una Facultad de Medicina. Resultados: El cuestionario obtenido mantuvo los 58 items originales distribuidos en 11 factores. Se consideró nominar como “Factor” un apartado con una sola pregunta (factor 8). Tras el pre-test se realizaron 7 modificaciones adicionales en las preguntas y se ofreció un glosario de términos. En el análisis de concordancia, en solo 8 preguntas (15,3% del total) las respuestas de los encuestados fueron diferentes de una valoración a otra. El factor 10 (“Procesos de Equipo”) fue el que tuvo más preguntas significativamente diferentes (3). Conclusiones: La nueva versión obtenida del ECI está adaptada para su uso en el ámbito de la educación médica española, presentando muy buenos índices de concordancia

This research aimed to carry out the cultural adaptation of the Growing Disciples Inventory (GDI), an inventory of spirituality for the Portuguese language of Brazil. In the first stage, the following procedures were performed: two translations, translation synthesis; two back-translations; synthesis of back-translations; review of the expert committee; and the pretest. The pre-test was attended by 88 respondents aged approximately 10 and 11 years who raised doubts and suggested changes. The final version was applied in 797 children and adolescents, and the results underwent a reliability analysis using McDonald's ω. The inclusion of experimental methods composed the factor analysis and the use of Exploratory Factorial Analysis (EFA) brought to the present study to identify the different factor loads and the reference value for including each question in one of the factors explained in the text. The chi2 value (Q2) divided by the number of degrees of freedom was 2.37, and the significance value less than 0.001 indicated that the EFA was adequate. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Group parenting programs based on cognitive‐behavioral and social learning principles are effective in improving child behavior problems and positive parenting. However, most programs target non‐Hispanic, White, English‐speaking families and are largely inaccessible to a growing Hispanic and non‐White population in the United States. We sought to examine the extent to which researchers have culturally adapted group parenting programs by conducting a systematic review of the literature. We identified 41 articles on 23 distinct culturally adapted programs. Most cultural adaptations focused on language translation and staffing, with less focus on modification of concepts and methods, and on optimizing the fit between the target cultural group and the program goals. Only one of the adapted programs engaged a framework to systematically record and publish the adaptation process. Fewer than half of the culturally adapted programs were rigorously evaluated. Additional investment in cultural adaptation and subsequent evaluation of parenting programs is critical to meet the needs of all US families. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Rates of child maltreatment are higher in low‐ and middle‐income countries due to risk factors such as social inequities, economic adversity, and sociocultural norms. Given the evidence showing the effectiveness of parenting interventions to prevent child maltreatment, this study embarked on a cultural adaptation of an evidence‐based parenting program with the eventual goal of integrating it within a nationwide conditional cash transfer program for low‐income Filipino parents with children aged 2–6 years. We document the systematic adaptation of the Parenting for Lifelong Health for Young Children program that was developed and tested in South Africa, for low‐resource Filipino families using the heuristic framework for the cultural adaptation of interventions. We underscore the merits of conducting a multistage top‐down and bottom‐up process that uses a participatory approach among cultural insiders and outsiders to develop a parenting intervention that reflects the contextual realities and cultural values of end users. The adapted program, Masayang Pamilya Para sa Batang Pilipino, is the product of a delicate and deliberate effort to balance Filipino childrearing goals and values with the scientific evidence on components of parenting interventions known to promote positive parenting and prevent child maltreatment. Esta investigación tiene como objetivo principal la adaptación cultural, el análisis de la validez discriminante y de la confiabilidad de la Adaptación argentina de la Escala Abreviada de Ira en la Conducción (DAS). Se trata de un estudio instrumental, cuantitativo y transaccional. En primer lugar, se realizó la adaptación lingüística de los ítems, mediante el análisis de contenido y entrevistas a 15 conductores residentes en Asunción, Paraguay. Posteriormente, para determinar la capacidad discriminativa de la versión adaptada, se realizó una prueba piloto con una muestra de 15 conductores que refirieron conducir con tráfico y otras 15 personas que lo hacían sin tráfico. La muestra final, seleccionada de manera no probabilística, estuvo compuesta por 397 conductores que residen y conducen en calles de la ciudad de Asunción, Paraguay. Se reporta buena discriminación entre las dos muestras de la prueba piloto y coeficientes Alfas superiores a 0,70. Se concluye que la versión adaptada del test cumple con las condiciones para ser empleadas en investigaciones con la población paraguaya.

El énfasis de la psicología en la vivencia individual ha generado prototipos idealizados sobre la identidad de género, promulgados a través de las herramientas tradicionales de evaluación psicológica. Las personas transgénero y género no-conforme se han visto presionadas a encajar en las concepciones binarias de dichas evaluaciones, hasta la reciente despatologización aprobada por la Organización Mundial de la Salud. En el presente trabajo teórico se examina cómo se fueron transformando los discursos sobre la diversidad de género y la corporalidad en psicología. Para ello, se apela a cuatro argumentos: la movilización activista contra las definiciones homogéneas de lo trans, la aplicabilidad de las categorías de los sistemas taxonómicos, las resistencias contra las escalas de validez de los test psicométricos y, por último, cuestiones de adaptación intercultural de términos, mediciones y concepciones del cuerpo y la identidad de género.

El estudio tuvo como objetivo analizar las propiedades psicométricas de la adaptación cultural del instrumento “escala de roles de género” en docentes universitarios. Método: Estudio cuantitativo de carácter descriptivo e instrumental que contó con la participaron 232 docentes de una universidad de Colombia. Se realizaron análisis de consistencia interna y de validez de los factores de la escala. Resultados: En el procedimiento de adaptación, los ajustes realizados se consideraron pertinentes tanto en el análisis de jueces como en el pilotaje. La estructura factorial de tres factores explicó el 64,677% de la varianza, aunque se evidenciaron cambios en la ubicación de tres ítems, lo cual lleva a la discusión teórica de tales factores. La escala y sus factores mostraron coeficientes de consistencia interna adecuados.

Objetivo: Validar el instrumento de medición diseñado para evaluar los factores que facilitan el proceso de aculturación en estudiantes de Educación Superior durante su intercambio académico en el extranjero. Método: La investigación fue de carácter cuantitativa, utilizando pruebas estadísticas de fiabilidad Alfa de Cronbach, y análisis factorial por la medida de Kaiser-Meyer-Olkin (KMO) de cada una de las variables de investigación; aplicando un total de 189 encuestas. Resultados: La variable adaptación cultural obtuvo valores aceptados en las pruebas realizadas a= .754 y KMO= .707, demostrando la importancia del conocimiento previo referente a las costumbres, tradiciones y estilos de vida del país, asimismo, la variable características de la institución mostró resultados satisfactorios, en donde a=.813 y KMO= .679, probando la importancia de la estructura institucional, académica y estilos de aprendizaje de la institución receptora. Discusión y Conclusiones: El instrumento de medición aprobó de manera satisfactoria las pruebas estadísticas utilizadas dentro del proceso de validación, mismo que sirve como una herramienta para establecer modelos de adaptación cultural.

Although parent training (PT) interventions are considered the gold standard for preventing externalizing behaviors in children and youth, their dissemination in low‐income Latina/o immigrant communities continues to be scarce throughout the United States (US). An alternative to address this gap in service delivery consists of implementing culturally adapted PT interventions characterized by cultural and contextual relevance. Thus, the main objective of this qualitative study was to document salient immigration‐related experiences, as well as parenting needs and challenges, as reported by 30 low‐income Mexican‐origin immigrant caregivers residing in an urban setting in the Southern United States. The research methodology was guided by the tenets of the Thematic Analysis approach, which involved collecting data through a series of focus group interviews. Qualitative research findings highlight the importance of culturally and contextually tailoring adapted PT prevention interventions, prior to their delivery in contexts that differ from those in which interventions were originally adapted. Specifically, parents in the current investigation provided detailed accounts of immigration‐related stressors that are highly relevant to inform recruitment procedures, intervention curriculum, and intervention delivery activities. In Uganda, one in five children presents mental health challenges, including disruptive behavior disorders (DBDs). DBDs can persist through adulthood and result in negative outcomes. Effective interventions for DBDs have been developed and tested in high‐poverty communities in developed countries. Yet, most African countries, such as Uganda, lack such interventions. This paper describes the adaptation process of an evidence‐based intervention of U.S. origin to optimize fit to context with intervention fidelity, as part of a randomized trial conducted with youth that exhibit behavioral challenges and their caregivers in 30 schools in Uganda. The process involved: initial meetings with headteachers and teachers to introduce the study and the main concepts of the intervention; initial manual review focusing on 4Rs and 2Ss content by the Uganda team; engagement of community stakeholders for additional feedback on content and cultural relevance; final revision of the manual; and collection of children's drawings for the illustration of the manual. This paper describes both similarities and differences between the original and adapted intervention content and methods of delivery. El número de estudiantes que deciden estudiar en instituciones de enseñanza superior (IES) en el extranjero va creciendo de manera exponencial. Este crecimiento cuantitativo ha traído consigo una paulatina transformación cualitativa de la educación superior en una rama más de la industria global. Asimismo, crece la oferta académica de programas impartidos en lengua extranjera, mayormente en inglés. Si bien son cada vez son más numerosas las IES que procuran atraer nuevos alumnos con esta novedad, no todas están preparadas para afrontar debidamente el reto que supone la diversidad cultural del aula universitaria. Esta atractiva experiencia académica es, a la vez, un fenómeno rico en complejidad y cabe admitir que el impacto en los procesos de enseñanza y aprendizaje puede ser tanto positivo como negativo. El presente artículo se propone revelar los retos y problemas, de índole comunicativa e intercultural, a los que se enfrentan los estudiantes extranjeros que cursan estudios en inglés en universidades donde predomina el ambiente lingüístico y cultural lituano. Los datos empíricos obtenidos permiten sostener que difieren de manera considerable las experiencias y vivencias referidas a la causa y posibles soluciones a los retos mencionados, según se trate de la valoración de los alumnos extranjeros de los grupos focales o de lo que aportan las respuestas del personal entrevistado en la institución de acogida.

Objective: Adaptar transculturalmente al contexto colombiano el instrumento "Florida Patient Acceptance Survey" que mide la aceptación de las personas implantadas con dispositivos de estimulación cardiaca.Materiales y métodos: Se ha seguido la metodología de traducción y retrotraducción, con equivalencia en semánticas culturales para llevar acabo la adaptación transcultural de la versión original del instrumento Florida Patient Acceptance Survey (FPAS). En el proceso participaron expertos en el área de: alteraciones del ritmo cardiaco, salud mental y validación de instrumentos de salud, así como, un profesional en lingüística y un profesional en estadística.Resultados: Se logra obtener una versión en español del instrumento FPAS adaptada culturalmente al contexto colombiano, con la realización de ajustes necesarios para la comprensión de la población objeto, a fin de conservar la equivalencia semántica y conceptual de la versión original.Conclusiones: La versión en español del FPAS es semántica y culturalmente equivalente a su versión original en inglés. A partir de los aportes de los expertos se realizaron ajustes que no modificaron la esencia del instrumento, posteriormente se realizarán las pruebas psicométricas para llevar a cabo el proceso de validez y fiabilidad.

The aim of this study was to test whether there are differences in the effectiveness of a Batterer Intervention Programme (BIP) for Intimate Partner Violence (IPV) perpetrators depending on the participants' countries of origin (i.e., Spanish or Latin American immigrants). The sample included 425 male offenders who participated in a court-mandated standard BIP in Spain. Official recidivism and risk of recidivism were considered the final outcomes. Intention to change, responsibility attribution, adherence to treatment and treatment compliance were taken as the proximal outcomes. No differences were found in risk of recidivism, intention to change, responsibility attribution to the legal system and to the victim between the Spanish and Latin American participants. Significant differences between both groups were found for the variable treatment compliance. The results suggest that, at least for the Latin American immigrants participating in BIPs in Spain, it is apparently not necessary to adjust BIPs to cultural differences as adopting motivational strategies to promote change suffices. The article is devoted to the problem of cultural adaptation of foreign undergraduate students upon admission to study at master's degree programs in Russian universities. The analysis of collected research data is performed based on the critical incident technique. The study involved conducting respondent interviews. The data obtained in the course of the study reveals the main indicators of stress, adaptation, and growth of communicative competence in various ethnic and cultural groups of respondents. Background: Negative experiences during delivery are associated with women disempowerment, postpartum depression, post-traumatic stress disorder, and low breastfeeding rates. The Questionnaire for Assessing the Childbirth Experience (QACE) is a 23-item screening tool useful for discovering women with a negative experience in their birth process and avoids future complications in following pregnancies or couple's relationships. Objective: The general objective is to adapt the Questionnaire for Assessing the Childbirth Experience (QACE) to the Spanish population and to obtain its psychometric characteristics. Methodology: The cultural adaptation process consisted of forwarding translation and back translation into Spanish, conceptual equivalence evaluation by a committee of judges, comprehensibility evaluation and cognitive interview to a postpartum group. Psychometric characteristics were obtained throughout the factorial analysis, Kaiser-Meyer-Olkin (KMO) and Bartlett's test of sphericity and Cronbach alpha level. Results: After complete the adaptation process, the committee of judges made several adjustments to achieve a better comprehension in the Spanish population, avoid misunderstandings or offensive words in the target language. 138 participants were needed to calculate factor analysis. The KMO (0.838) and Bartlett test (p < 0.001) confirmed the adequacy of factor analysis and the Scree plot showed 6 factors with the predictive power of 73.75% supported total variance. Internal consistency was assured using a Cronbach a of 0.896. Conclusions: Data from this study demonstrate that the Spanish version of QACE is a valid and reliable measure of childbirth experience in the Spanish population. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The present study aims to investigate the strategic sense-making effect as a sustainable advantage for improving value creation in SMEs. This research is descriptive and uses the survey method. To collect the data, it was used field and data documentation. For data analysis, the Pearson torque correlation coefficient statistical tests and multivariate linear regression analysis were used simultaneously, and the secondary structural equation model was also used. Legacy for Children™ (Legacy) is an evidence‐based program focused on promoting sensitive, responsive parenting for socioeconomically disadvantaged families. Legacy has recently been culturally and linguistically adapted for Spanish‐monolingual Latino families and is being piloted in partnership with an early childhood education program. We conducted a mixed methods study to identify barriers and facilitators to engagement, using program monitoring data sources from both participant and group leader perspectives. We conducted qualitative analyses of open‐ended data to identify distinct barriers (e.g., employment challenges, health‐related challenges and appointments) and facilitators (e.g., other mothers in group, interest in program topics) to engagement that emerged across English and Spanish language curriculum versions; curriculum‐specific barriers and facilitators were also documented. We interpret these findings in light of quantitative data on measures of engagement, showing that participants in the Spanish curriculum evidenced comparable levels of parent–group leader relationship quality relative to the English group, and higher levels of parent's group support/connectedness and overall satisfaction. These results offer promising considerations for optimizing families' engagement in parenting programs in the context of early care and education settings. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This is a longitudinal randomized control trial on the impact of adding a parent psychoeducation intervention (TEPSI) as part of cognitive‐behavioral therapy (CBT) for adolescents with Major Depressive Disorder (MDD) in a Puerto Rican sample. We tested the efficacy of adding 8 group sessions of TEPSI to 12 sessions of individual CBT on reducing depressive symptoms, MDD diagnosis, and improving family functioning. Participants (n = 121) were randomized to individual CBT with or without TEPSI. No main group effects were found for most patient domains including depression symptoms, as well as presence of adolescent's MDD diagnosis at posttreatment. Results did show a main effect of CBT over time for depression symptoms, suicide ideation, family criticism, and the presence of MDD diagnosis decreasing from pre‐ to postintervention. A year post treatment, almost 70% of adolescents in both conditions (CBT and CBT + TEPSI) remained in remission. A main effect was obtained for treatment in the adolescent's perception of familism and family emotional involvement. The primary hypothesis that family psychoeducation would optimize CBT for depression in adolescents was not supported. Both conditions yielded similar clinical end points. The culturally adapted CBT was found effective with Latino/a adolescents showing clinically significant improvements from pretreatment to posttreatment and remained stable at a 1‐year follow‐up. Regarding family outcomes, adolescents in CBT + TEPSI remained stable from pretreatment to posttreatment on family emotional involvement, while adolescents in CBT‐alone showed an increase.
