Kembang kol (Brassica oleracea var. botrytis L.) merupakan jenis tanaman sayuran yang termasuk dalam keluarga tanaman kubis-kubisan (Brassicaceae) yang berasal dari Eropa. Produksi kembang kol terbatas karena selama ini hanya dibudidayakan petani di daerah dataran tinggi. Salah satu usaha meningkatkan produksi kembang kol adalah dengan memberikan nutrisi yang cukup, salah satunya adalah dengan pemberian pupuk organik. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh pemberian berbagai pupuk organik padat terhadap pertumbuhan dan produksi tanaman kembang kol. Penelitian dilaksanakan pada bulan Oktober 2021 sampai Januari 2022 di lahan Fakultas Pertanian Universitas Muhammadiyah Jakarta. Penelitian menggunakan Rancangan Kelompok Lengkap Teracak (RKLT) dengan lima perlakuan yaitu P0 (pupuk anorganik/kontrol), P1 (pupuk guano), P2 (pupuk vermikompos), P3 (pupuk kompos), P4 (pupuk kandang ayam). Setiap perlakuan diulang sebanyak lima kali. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa semua jenis pupuk organik padat mampu menghasilkan pertumbuhan dan produksi tanaman yang sama bahkan lebih baik dibandingkan dengan pupuk anorganik. Perlakuan pupuk kandang ayam menghasilkan panjang daun, jumlah daun dan bobot kotor tanaman kembang kol yang lebih tinggi dibandingkan dengan pupuk anorganik.

Weeds is one of the limiting factors in crop production that has significant effects, both economically and ecologically. Continuous use of herbicides increased the resistance of weeds to herbicides and causes chemical and biological soil degradation. The use of cover crops can be an alternative to environmentally friendly weed management. The objective of this research was to study the effectiveness of Arachis pintoi as biomulch in suppressing the growth and development of weeds. This experiment used nested-randomized block design with the first factor was the slope of land with 2 levels (flat and sloping lands) and the second factor was the types of mulch with 5 levels (without mulch without weeding, without mulch with weeding, plastic mulch, straw mulch and A. pintoi biomulch). The types of mulch factor nested on the slope of the land factor. The results showed that the use of A. pintoi biomulch suppressed the growth of weed more than 58% compared to the without mulch without weeding treatment. The study also showed that A. pintoi was effective in suppressing broadleaf and sedge weeds but not effective to suppress grass weeds. The use of A. pintoi biomulch by allowing the coverage of the entire soil surface suppressed the growth and yield of maize compared to the without mulch with weeding and straw mulch treatments.

Biomulsa merupakan salah satu jenis mulsa yang dapat digunakan sebagai teknologi dalam upaya pencegahan degradasi lahan dan erosi tanah pada pengembangan budidaya tanaman di lahan kering berlereng. Arachis pintoi memiliki karakter dan potensi yang sesuai untuk digunakan sebagai biomulsa, tetapi faktor-faktor yang mempengaruhi pertumbuhan dan perkembangan A. pintoi belum banyak diketahui. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mempelajari pengaruh panjang stek dan konsentrasi hormon Rootone-F® terhadap pertumbuhan dan kecepatan penutupan A. pintoi. Penelitian dilakukan pada bulan September – Desember 2013 di Kebun Percobaan Cikabayan, Kampus IPB, Bogor. Penelitian menggunakan Rancangan Acak Kelompok dua faktor yang terdiri dari faktor panjang stek (2, 4, dan 6 ruas) dan faktor konsentrasi hormon Rootone-F® (400, 600, 800, dan 1000 ppm) dengan menggunakan 3 kali ulangan. Hasil menunjukkan bahwa semua konsentrasi hormon Rootone-F® yang diujikan tidak berpengaruh terhadap peubah yang diamati. Semakin panjang stek yang digunakan cenderung menghasilkan hasil yang lebih baik pada semua peubah pertumbuhan dan kecepatan penutupan A. pintoi. Namun pada peubah kecepatan penutupan, penggunaan stek 6 ruas tidak berbeda nyata dengan stek 4 ruas. Sehingga penggunaan stek 4 ruas lebih dasarankan karena lebih effisien dalam penggunaan bahan tanam.

WOS: 000508414300008, Wild rocket (Diplotaxis tenuifolia (L.) DC.), a member of the Brassicaceae family, is vital in natural areas and soil protections as well as in human and animal nutrition. The study was conducted to determine the appropriate row spacing of Turkey's native plant wild rocket in Konya conditions. This study was conducted in 2015; observations and measurements were carried out in the second (i.e., 2016) and third (i.e., 2017) years. In this study, fodder yield and its components consisted of plant height, canopy diameter, number of branches, fresh and dry fodder yield per plant, and dry fodder yield per hectare and seed yield and its components consisted of number of pods per branch, number of pods per plant, 1000 grains weight, seed yield per plant, and seed yield per hectare were examined. Macro and micronutrient contents of the plant were also analyzed in 2016. The results show that seed yield values such as seed yield (i.e., 76.2 kg ha(-1)) and 1000 grains weight (i.e., 1.00 g) were higher in 2016. However, in 2017, while seed yield was lower, plant height (i.e., 92.78 cm), canopy diameter (i.e., 85.67 cm), and fodder yield (i.e., 20339.5 kg ha(-1)) were higher. In nutrient contents (especially Ca, K, and Fe), 20- and 30-cm row spacings were determined as significant. Furthermore, the yield values related to dry fodder and seed yields are higher with 20- and 30-cm row spacings. This study indicated that 20- and 30-cm row spacings are recommended row spacing for wild rocket culture.

Cover crops is widely used as biomulch because of its advantages for land conservation, weed control and increasing soil nutrients, especially in upland agriculture. The objective of the research was to study the growth and development of Arachis pintoi as biomulch in upland agriculture. The experiment was carried out at IPB Experimental Field from February until May 2014. Observation was done everyweek up to 12 weeks with 10 plants were used for each observation. One stolon of A. pintoi with 4 internodes was planted in each 0.25 m2 plot. The results showed that root initiation of A. pintoi was occured at 3 weeks after planting (wap) and produced 42.4 roots with average root length of 17.10 cm on 12 wap.A. pintoi had nett assimilation rate of 0.0023 g cm-2 per day and relative growth rate of 0.052 g per day. With this growth rate, A. pintoi covered 58% of 0.25 m2 plot and produced biomass 10.08 g per plant within 12 wap. A. pintoi produced flowers on 4 wap and pods on 7 wap. A. pintoi produced root nodules through mutualism symbiosis with local Rhizobium. The equation for rate of coverage is Coverage (%) = 5.273 Time (wap)-16.512; 100% land coverage can be reached on 22 wap. Based on the results of this study, A. pintoi is potential to be used as biomulch; however, a denser spacing must be applied for faster land coverage.Keywords: land coverage, mulch, Rhizobium, stolon

Indonesia and Turkey have different geoclimates which cause each country to produce different agricultural commodities. This presents a great opportunity for the two countries to trade these different commodities. Turkey and Indonesia have had a commercial, diplomatic, and military relationship since the 16th century as the Ottoman Empire and Aceh Sultanate. After both countries established as republic and independent countries, the bilateral relationship between two countries was rebuilt with the first trading agreement signed on September 14, 1958, followed by other cooperation and partnership agreements later on. At present, the bilateral relations between the two countries, especially in the economic sector are increasing. With the latest bilateral agreement, Indonesia-Turkey Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (IT-CEPA), launched on July 6, 2017, economic cooperation between the two countries is expected to increase even more. Even though each year the value of trade between the two countries has increased, but those numbers are still far below the potential of the two countries. Therefore, it is necessary to increase trade commodities from both countries, especially agro-industrial commodities. This paper aims to provide a brief overview of some potential agro-industrial commodities to increase trade value between Indonesia and Turkey.

Heavy metals give toxic effects on human health and cause several serious diseases. Several techniques have been using for removing heavy metal contaminants from the environmental but these techniques have limitations such as high cost, long time, logistical problems and mechanical complexity. Phytoremediation can be used as an alternative solution for heavy metal remediation process because of its advantages as a cost-effective, efficient, environment- and eco-friendly technology based on the use of metal-accumulating plants. According to previous studies, several plants have a high potential as heavy metals bioaccumulator and can be used for phytoremediation process of heavy metals.

The potential of upland for agriculture in Indonesia is very high which is about 76.2 million hectares. Upland consists of flat land ( 3%). Most of the upland is sloping land i.e. range 77% while only 23% of the land is flat. The total upland area on the slopes of Java Island and Sumatra Island is 10.8 million and 33.7 million hectares respectively. The potential danger of erosion and land degradation is high on the area since the average rainfall is more than 2000 mm year−1. For sustainable farming, great efforts on land conservations need to be reduced and prevented the danger of erosion and land degradation. One of the technologies that can be used as a sloping upland conservation is the use of legume cover crop (LCC). Arachis pintoi is legume plant that propagated by stem, creeping growth, does not twist the main plant, and able to cover the ground or soil surface perfectly. Basic research on the bio-ecology and agronomic characters, particularly related to its use as a biomulch. Include analysis of growth and development, the time needed to covering soil surface, their effectiveness in suppressing erosion, suppress weeds and improve the soil fertility as well as the nature of their interaction towards plant cultivation has not much reported. A series of studies have been carried out to study the characteristics of the growth and development of plants of A.pintoi, effectiveness in suppressing the rate of soil erosion, weed growth emphasis, improvement of physical and chemical properties of soil and its application as biomulch on the minimum tillage system. The results showed that A.pintoi has slow growth at the beginning, but cover the soil surface perfectly at 10 weeks after planting (WAP) so effectively suppress erosion, reduce evaporation from the soil, maintaining the availability of groundwater, soil organic matter, provides increased availability of nutrient N and P as well as suppressing the growth of weeds. The combination of minimum tillage and biomulch A. pintoi can be used as a method to be applied to different types of cultivation in tropical upland.
