Introducción: la gamificación se presenta como una herramienta que propone soluciones a la disminución de la motivación en estudiantes. Sin embargo, la evidencia actual es inconclusa y presenta discrepancias, lo que genera que aquellos docentes que desean implementarla tengan dificultades para encontrar fuentes críticas. En este sentido, se plantea realizar una revisión narrativa con el objetivo de esclarecer la situación actual de la gamificación, así como desarrollar y analizar las diferentes tendencias a las que se dirige, los errores más comunes, aspectos sobre los elementos del juego, la gamificación adaptativa, la gamificación en Educación Física y la relación de esta estrategia con las teorías psicológicas que lo fundamentan. Metodología: se realizó una búsqueda estructurada en las bases de datos de Web of Science (WoS), Scopus, Education Resources Information Center (ERIC), PubMed, SciELO y Dialnet. Un total de 64 artículos fueron incluidos. Resultados y discusión: los resultados ofrecen a los docentes conocimientos sobre las teorías psicológicas y un uso de la gamificación en atención a los sistemas de elementos de juego existentes. Además, la gamificación adaptativa se postula como una tendencia creciente, considerando las necesidades y los perfiles individuales de los jugadores. En Educación Física, se observan resultados positivos hacia un estilo de vida saludable, especialmente en estudiantes con poca predisposición a la actividad física. Conclusiones: aunque es necesaria cautela y espíritu crítico en la implementación, la gamificación se muestra como una herramienta potencialmente interesante, pudiendo producir efectos positivos sobre las variables motivacionales si se tienen los conocimientos básicos sobre ella.

The effects of the use of reduced feedback frequencies on motor learning remain controversial in the scientific literature. At present, there is still controversy about the guidance hypothesis, with some works supporting it and others contradicting it. To shed light on this topic, an experiment was conducted with four groups, each with different feedback frequencies (0%, 33%, 67%, and 100%), which were evaluated three times (pre-test, post-test, and retention) during a postural control task. In addition, we tested whether there was a transfer in performance to another similar task involving postural control. As a result, only the 67% feedback group showed an improvement in their task performance in the post-test and retention evaluations. Nevertheless, neither group showed differences in motor transfer performance compared to another postural control task. In conclusion, the findings of this paper corroborate the hypothesis of guidance and suggest that the use of a reduced frequency of 67% is a better option for improving motor learning than options that offer feedback at a lower frequency, at all trials or not at all.

Acute physical exercise works as an activator of the responses of the human organism to stress. This is based on the activation of the hypothalamic–pituitary–adrenal (HPA) axis, affecting physical, physiological and psychological levels. This study aimed to analyse the effects of a single bout of high-intensity resistance exercise on cognitive-behavioural responses: visuo-spatial path learning and memory, as well as physiological responses (salivary cortisol levels). Nineteen healthy male military-trained powerlifting subjects were tested in a within-subject design on two experimental days with an interval of 48 h. The stress and cognitive variables were measured by cortisol levels and Ruff–Light trail-learning test (RULIT) test scores, respectively. The results showed the immediate influence of acute exercise on cortisol, with significantly higher cortisol levels found in subjects after completion of the acute resistance exercise. In addition, this study found a significant deterioration of memory and learning ability after a dose of intense resistance exercise. In conclusion, the study highlights the relative effects of resistance exercise on cortisol and cognitive performance depending on the intensity and type of the exercise, the moment of measurement and the cerebral areas implicated.

En la actualidad, la crisis sanitaria derivada de la aparición del COVID-19 ha repercutido de forma significativa en las vidas de la población, la cual ha experimentado muchos cambios en un espacio muy corto de tiempo. Los estudiantes universitarios son una de las poblaciones que más se han tenido que adaptar a este contexto pandémico, lo cual puede haber generado nuevas situaciones de estrés, afectando a su salud mental. El objetivo principal de este estudio es analizar los niveles de estrés académico de una muestra de estudiantes universitarios, así como identificar los principales estresores, sintomatología asociada al estrés y las estrategias de afrontamiento adoptadas por cada género. La muestra estuvo compuesta por 351 estudiantes universitarios (211 mujeres) a los que se les facilitó el Inventario Sistémico Cognoscitivista (SISCO) para el estudio del Estrés Académico adaptado al contexto de la crisis por COVID-19. Los resultados hallados mostraron diferencias significativas entre los niveles de estrés y variables relacionadas con este entre hombres y mujeres, siendo las estudiantes las que mostraron mayores niveles de estrés (t(260.077)=-4.801, p£0.01, r=0.29). Además, también se hallaron diferencias en la elección de las estrategias de afrontamiento utilizadas por hombres y mujeres. En conclusión, los resultados del presente trabajo mostraron diferencias estadísticamente significativas entre los niveles de estrés de los estudiantes universitarios dependiendo de su género. Abstract. Currently, the health crisis resulting from the appearance of COVID-19 has had a significant impact on the lives of the population, which has undergone many changes in a very short space of time. University students are one of the populations that have had to adapt the most to this pandemic context, which may have generated new stressful situations, affecting their mental health. Therefore, the main objective of this study was to analyse the levels of academic stress in this population, as well as to identify the main stressors, symptomatology associated with stress and the coping strategies adopted by each gender. The total study sample consisted of 351 university students (211 women) who were provided with the Systemic Cognitive Inventory for the Study of Academic Stress (SISCO) adapted to the context of the crisis by COVID-19. The results showed significant differences in stress levels and stress-related variables between men and women, with female students showing higher levels of stress (t(260.077)=-4.801, p£0.01, r=0.29). In addition, differences were also found between in the election of the coping strategies used by men and women. In conclusion, the results of the present study showed statistically significant differences between the stress levels of university students depending on their gender. Furthermore, the main stressors, stress-associated symptomatology and coping strategies adopted by each gender were identified.

Abstract. The main aim of this manuscript was to analyze the effect of dual task and their difficulty on the motor and cognitive performance using a postural control and a memory tasks in middle childhood group ages children, establishing the differences between the effect of the tasks in the different age groups. The study sample was composed by one hundred and sixteen children, between 8 and 12 years old. The participants completed three single tasks and two dual-tasks. The postural single task (EO) consisted in maintain the balance in the bipedal stance position and two cognitive single tasks performed were the Backward Digit Span Test with 3-Digits sequences length and the Backward Digit Span Test 5-Digits sequences length. The dual-tasks were the combination of the postural task and the cognitive tasks. Regarding the postural control measurement, CoP signals were acquired with a Wii Balance Board. The analysis performed showed that the younger groups (8-9 years old) had worse punctuations in postural control variables in dual-task conditions than the older age groups (11-12 years old), especially than the 12 years old group. Regarding the effect of dual task in postural control, in all groups between 9 to 12 years old, higher postural control and stability were observed during the execution of the 5D dual-task than during the 3D task. Finally, no differences were found in the number of correct answers in the cognitive task when performing a single or dual-task, in any age group. Resumen. El objetivo principal de este manuscrito fue analizar el efecto de la doble tarea y su dificultad sobre el rendimiento motor y cognitivo mediante una tarea de control postural y otra de memoria en niños, estableciendo las diferencias entre el efecto de las tareas en los distintos grupos de edad. La muestra del estudio estuvo compuesta por ciento dieciséis niños, de entre 8 y 12 años de edad. Los participantes completaron tres tareas simples y dos tareas dobles. La tarea individual postural (EO) consistió en mantener el equilibrio en posición de bipedestación y las dos tareas individuales cognitivas realizadas fueron el Backward Digit Span Test con secuencias de 3 dígitos y el Backward Digit Span Test con secuencias de 5 dígitos. Las dobles tareas fueron la combinación de la tarea postural y las tareas cognitivas. En cuanto a la medición del control postural, las señales del CoP se adquirieron mediante una Wii Balance Board. El análisis realizado mostró que los grupos más jóvenes (8-9 años) obtuvieron peores puntuaciones en las variables de control postural en condiciones de doble tarea que los grupos de mayor edad (11-12 años), especialmente que el grupo de 12 años. En cuanto al efecto de la doble tarea sobre el control postural, en todos los grupos de 9 a 12 años se observó un mayor control postural y estabilidad durante la ejecución de la doble tarea 5D que durante la tarea 3D. Por último, no se encontraron diferencias en el número de respuestas correctas en la tarea cognitiva al realizar una tarea simple o dual, en ningún grupo de edad.

Actualmente el acelerómetro es la herramienta más práctica y fiable para cuantificar la actividad física. El problema es que los modelos de estimación obtenidos hasta el momento no han tenido en cuenta la inclusión de los minutos de transición entre actividades, el desfase entre las aceleraciones y METs, y las variables del dominio temporal, frecuencial y de la estructura temporal de la señal. El objetivo de este estudio descriptivo transversal fue comprobar estos factores para la obtención de un modelo de estimación. Para ello, se reclutaron 30 sujetos con 55,5 (9,42) años, 73,03 (11,84) kg y 1,70 (0,08) m. Estos realizaron una serie actividades cuotidianas equipados con un acelerómetro Actigraph GT3X y un analizador de gases. Mediante el análisis de estos factores se obtuvo un modelo lineal múltiple más fiable que los modelos lineales obtenidos previamente para el acelerómetro Actigraph GT3X. Estos resultados mostraron la necesidad de incluir en los modelos lineales múltiples los minutos de transición entre actividades y las variables temporales, frecuenciales y aquellas que informan sobre la estructura temporal de la señal. En cambio, el desfase entre las aceleraciones y los METs disminuyó la exactitud de los modelos. Abstract. Currently the accelerometer is the most practical and reliable tool for quantifying physical activity. The problem is that the estimation models obtained so far have not taken into account the inclusion of the transition minutes between the activities, the gap between the accelerations and the METs, and the variables of the time domain, the frequency domain and the temporal structure of the signal. The objective of this descriptive cross-sectional study was to test these factors for obtaining an estimation model. To this end, 30 subjects with 55,5 (9,42) years, 73,03 (11,84) kg and 1,70 (0,08) m were recruited. These performed a series of daily activities equipped with an Actigraph GT3X accelerometer and a gas analyser. By analysing these factors, a more reliable multiple linear model than the linear models previously obtained for the Actigraph GT3X accelerometer was obtained. These results showed the need to include the minutes of transition between activities and the variables of temporal domain, frequency domain and those that inform the temporal structure of the signal, in the multiple linear models. Instead, the mismatch between accelerations and METs decreased the accuracy of the models.

El presente estudio describe y analiza la valoración del alumnado universitario ante la propuesta “More than able”. Esta es una propuesta de buenas prácticas sobre la sensibilización hacia la diversidad funcional desde el área de Educación Física, y específicamente, mediante tareas relacionadas con las habilidades motrices básicas. El objetivo de este trabajo fue diseñar, aplicar y valorar una buena práctica que ofrezca una propuesta de sensibilización al alumnado basada en el uso de personajes de cómics como son los superhéroes y las superheroínas. Para valorar el grado de satisfacción de la propuesta, se empleó el cuestionario sobre la experiencia de buenas prácticas y el análisis de contenido sobre una pregunta abierta en relación a la experiencia. Los resultados mostraron que la práctica fue valorada como útil, innovadora, sostenible y transferible a su futura experiencia docente, así como una experiencia satisfactoria para el alumnado. Por tanto, el profesorado de las facultades de Magisterio o de otras que preparen a los/as futuros/as docentes, así como ellos mismos, deben ser conocedores de este tipo de propuestas y llevarlas a cabo en la formación reglada de los/as futuros/as egresados/as para acercar la escuela actual a una escuela inclusiva. Abstract. The present study describes and analyzes the assessment of university students with regard to the “More than able” proposal. This is a diversity awareness proposal from the area of Physical Education, and specifically, through tasks related to fundamental motor skills. The aim of this work was to design, apply, and evaluate a good practice offering a proposal for raising students’ awareness based on the use of comic characters such as superheroes and superheroines. In order to assess the degree of satisfaction of the proposal, a questionnaire of good practices and an open question in relation to the experience were used. The results showed that the practice was valued as useful, innovative, sustainable, and transferable to their future teaching experience, as well as a satisfactory experience for students. Therefore, the teaching staff of this or other Schools that train future teachers, as well as currently employed teachers, must be aware of these types of proposals and carry them out in the formal training of future teachers to bring the current school closer to an inclusive approach.

Las relaciones sociales son de vital importancia para el correcto desarrollo de los seres humanos, y junto con la actividad física, la obesidad y la autoestima forman un conjunto de factores que pueden ser capaces de retroalimentarse entre sí, pero que hasta donde los autores saben, solo se han analizado por separado. Por tanto, el principal objetivo de estudio será realizar un análisis multifactorial que incluya todas las variables anteriormente mencionadas. Un total de 60 niños de edades comprendidas entre los 7 y los 13 años formaron la muestra de este estudio. Los instrumentos utilizados para las mediciones de las diferentes variables de estudio fueron el PAQ-C, la escala de autoestima de Rosenberg y una adaptación del Bull-S Test. Una vez recogidos todos los datos se realizó un análisis con Self-Organizing Maps mediante el software Matlab R2008a y la SOM toolbox para Matlab. Los resultados obtenidos en este trabajo muestran la repercusión del Índice de Masa Corporal sobre los niveles de autoestima y las relaciones sociales, y la posible retroalimentación mutua entre estos dos últimos factores. Abstract. Social relationships are vital for the proper development of humans, and along with physical activity, obesity, and self-esteem, they form a set of factors that may be able to feed each other; however, as far as the authors know, they have only been analyzed separately. Therefore, the main objective of this study is to carry out a multifactorial analysis that includes all the aforementioned variables. A total of 60 children between 7 and 13 years of age formed the sample of this study. The instruments used for the measurements of the different study variables were the PAQ-C, the Rosenberg self-esteem scale, and an adaptation of the Bull-S Test. Once all the data was collected, an analysis with Self-Organizing Maps was made, using the Matlab R2008a software and the SOM toolbox for Matlab. The results obtained in this work show the repercussion of Body Mass Index on the levels of self-esteem and social relations, and the possible mutual feedback between the last two factors.

This study aimed to investigate the validity of using built-in smartphone accelerometers to estimate the active energy expenditures of full-time manual wheelchair users with spinal cord injury (SCI). Twenty participants with complete SCI completed 10 5-min daily activities that involved the upper limbs, during which their oxygen consumption and upper limb activity were registered using a portable gas analyzer and a smartphone (placed on the non-dominant arm), respectively. Time series of 1-min averaged oxygen consumption and 55 accelerometer variables (13 variables for each of the four axes and three additional variables for the correlations between axes) were used to estimate three multiple linear models, using a 10-fold cross-validation method. The results showed that models that included either all variables and models or that only included the linear variables showed comparable performance, with a correlation of 0.72. Slightly worse general performance was demonstrated by the model that only included non-linear variables, although it proved to be more accurate at estimating the energy expenditures (EE) during specific tasks. These results suggest that smartphones could be a promising low-cost alternative to laboratory-grade accelerometers to estimate the energy expenditure of wheelchair users with spinal cord injury during daily activities.

The aim of this study was to evaluate the stress suffered by medical residents as the result of being on call for 24 hours, from a multidimensional approach. Two groups of medical residents selected according to their work shift, participated in the study: one group (n = 40) was sleep-deprived after having been actively on-call for 24 hours, and another contrast group (n = 18) had performed a normal work day and were not sleep-deprived. All participants completed pre-post measures during a 24 h cycle. These were administered on both occasions at 8 am. The measures included HRV, cortisol, cognitive performance and transitory mood. The effect of the group x phase interaction was significant for all variables analysed, indicating that doctors in the 24h on-call shift group showed significant deterioration in all physiological, performance and mood indicators in comparison with the participants in the group not on call. These results suggest the need to review medical on-call systems, in order to reduce the stress load, which has a direct effect on working conditions.

Purpose: the aim of this study was to determine the differences between the sexes in the development of postural control during childhood and adolescence. Methods: Three hundred and eighty-nine children were involved in a 30-s trial with eyes open and a 30-s trial with eyes closed. Using a Wii Balance Board, the mean velocity and median frequency in antero-posterior and medio-lateral directions were calculated, as well as the 95% confidence interval ellipse area. Results: The results showed that the youngest boys (4-5 years old) had a greater ellipse area than girls of the same age, while the girls in this age group showed a greater ellipse area ratio, although these differences disappeared until 12-13 years old. At this age, the boys showed greater mean velocity in antero-posterior direction both with eyes open and closed, as well as a greater ellipse area and mean velocity in the medio-lateral direction with eyes open. At 16-17 years old, the boys had lower mean velocity in the medio-lateral direction both with eyes open and eyes closed. Conclusions: In conclusion, the results indicate certain differences in the postural control maturation of girls and boys during childhood and adolescence. Resumen. Objetivo: el objetivo de este estudio fue determinar las diferencias entre sexos en el desarrollo del control postural durante la infancia y la adolescencia. Material y métodos: Trescientos ochenta y nueve niños participaron en un ensayo de 30s con los ojos abiertos y otro de 30s con los ojos cerrados. Utilizando una Wii Balance Board, se calculó la velocidad media y la frecuencia media en las direcciones anteroposterior y medio-lateral, así como el área de la elipse del intervalo de confianza del 95%. Resultados: Los resultados mostraron que los niños más pequeños (4-5 años) tenían un área de elipse mayor que las niñas de la misma edad, mientras que las niñas de este grupo de edad mostraban una mayor relación de área de elipse, aunque estas diferencias desaparecieron hasta los 12-13 años. A esta edad, los chicos mostraron una mayor velocidad media en dirección anteroposterior tanto con los ojos abiertos como cerrados, así como una mayor área de la elipse y velocidad media en dirección medio-lateral con los ojos abiertos. A los 16-17 años, los chicos presentaban una menor velocidad media en la dirección medio-lateral tanto con los ojos abiertos como cerrados. Conclusiones: los resultados indican ciertas diferencias en la maduración del control postural de chicas y chicos durante la infancia y la adolescencia.
