BACKGROUND: The process of involving sustainability in the Human Resources (HR) area, which is still a major challenge to be faced, will only occur when the leadership shares the values that influence ethics at work and have a more involved relationship with all business stakeholders. OBJECTIVE: The objective of this study was to verify the relationship between the dimensions of Spiritual Leadership, the functional and competitive dimensions of Human Resources and Organizational Sustainability. METHODS: Through the Systematic Review Method, the available literature has been categorized based on the thematic alignment of the topics. Content analysis of 49 articles included predetermined codes verifying the most recurrent dimensions of each thematic axis. RESULTS: Among the HR functional dimensions, the one represented by training and development, assumes an intermediate role between the achievement of the intended cultural management, which can be through communication and teamwork, until reaching the organizational sustainability actions, which is the main purpose of this thematic relationship. CONCLUSIONS: This article makes a unique contribution to the existing literature on spiritual leadership and sustainable human resources management as well as reveals new avenues of in-depth research focusing specifically on the relationship of the thematic axes uncovered in the study.

PurposeThis study aims to develop a sustainable brand identity model to help organizations align their managerial practices to sustainable development goals (SDGs) and examine its applicability for a Brazilian electrical sector company.Design/methodology/approachA systematic qualitative review of the literature was carried out to provide a theoretical basis for the attributes chosen to compose the sustainable brand identity management (SBIM) model. To apply the model, the authors collected the data from internal and public domain documents, semi-structured in-depth interviews and non-participant observation of the company's work environment.FindingsThe first SBIM model was developed. The Brazilian power sector company implemented sustainable actions related to most of the models' attributes, contributing to the SDGs. A research agenda was presented.Research limitations/implicationsThe theoretical contribution is provided toward brand identity and sustainability literature with the sustainable brand identity model development and the conceptual explanation regarding its attributes.Practical implicationsThe practical implications are provided from the model application to an electrical company leading to some managerial suggestions that might be used to companies willing to align their practices to sustainability.Originality/valueThe studies on SDG and brand identity models were analyzed in order to create the first SBIM model. This article extends the concept of the brand identity of marketing theory by linking its core to sustainability actions, so far not addressed in academic studies.

This work sought to analyze the health and environment in the Brazilian municipalities that make up the Frontier Strip (FS), considering the unique challenges of managing these in such territory. For this purpose, the association between them was studied by collecting and analyzing secondary data, using descriptive statistics, mapping, and cluster analysis. The main results demonstrated the lack of public policies, particularly for environmental and health issues in activities of municipal border governments, and the discussions that incorporate intersectionality in planning are even more limited. Of the 94.7% of municipalities analyzed, 53.6% presented an average performance on the environmental issue, and 81.3% a low or very low one on health, probably due to the fact that environmental aspects have gained more attention in the context of Brazilian FS compared to health ones. Finally, the study points out the implications of these results, which can subsidize public policies. Resumen Este artículo busca analizar los temas de salud y medio ambiente en los municipios de la Banda Fronteriza Brasileña (FF), dados los singulares desafíos de gestión de estos sectores en este territorio. Para ello, se verificó la asociación entre ellos a través de una recolección y análisis de datos secundarios, utilizando estadística descriptiva, mapeo y análisis de conglomerados. Los principales resultados mostraron una falta de políticas públicas sectoriales, especialmente en temas de medio ambiente y salud, en las actividades de los gobiernos municipales fronterizos, siendo aún más escasas las discusiones que incorporan la intersectorialidad en la planificación. Del 94,7% de los municipios analizados, el 53,6% tuvo un desempeño medio en el tema ambiental y el 81,3% bajo o muy bajo en el tema de la salud, lo que implica que en el contexto de la FF brasileña, los aspectos ambientales han ganado más atención en comparación con la salud. aspectos. Purpose This paper aims to explore whether formal, non-formal, and informal learning experiences contribute to developing sustainable development competencies (SDCs) among students in a Principles of Responsible Management Education (PRME) signatory business school. Design/methodology/approach An online survey based on the students’ learning experiences and a questionnaire on sustainability competencies already validated in the literature were given to a sample of 274 bachelor students at a PRME signatory business school. Nominal variables representing students’ categories were created to test a set of hypotheses developed according to the literature. Because the data was not normally distributed, non-parametric independent-samples Mann–Whitney U test was conducted, and descriptive statistics was used to help the analysis. Findings The results suggest that a hybrid format with a combination of formal, non-formal and informal learning experiences is essential to maximising the development of SDCs and raising students’ sustainability literacy. Research limitations/implications This study is one of the first attempts to understand the importance of a hybrid approach in developing sustainable competencies (SDCs). Future studies could adopt longitudinal analysis to check the development of these competencies over time, assess students from different PRME signatory schools or comparing students to those in non-signatory business schools. Practical implications This study provides insight into how business schools could address challenges in developing sustainable competencies through redirecting their educational systems by balancing formal, informal and non-formal learning approaches to educate future responsible leaders. Originality/value This research provides evidence on how a hybrid learning approach could maximise the development of sustainable development competencies and, therefore, generating insights for educational policies.

PurposeThe purpose of this study is to analyze sustainable human resources management (HRM) in the Brazilian banking industry and to propose an integrative framework of HRM practices toward sustainability, linking stakeholders to HR systems.Design/methodology/approachSupported by the stakeholder theory, the research design follows a triangulation of multiple data sources, covering 85% of the national banking industry: (1) annual Global Reporting Initiative sustainability reports, (2) employment tribunal decisions and (3) in-depth interviews with top managers of the Banking Trade Union and the Brazilian Federation of Banks, a trade association.FindingsThe analysis reveals various engagement levels across the sustainable HRM dimensions: justice and equality, transparent HR practices, profitability and employee well-being. However, current practices in all dimensions fall largely behind sustainable standards. An integrative framework of HRM practices is also proposed.Originality/valueThe study provides the first integrative framework of sustainable HRM practices in the literature.

It is established that sustainable development (SD) requires that each dimension be addressed. Indeed, focus should be on economic perspective as an important pillar to achieve sustainability goals. Economic approaches to SD use resource accounting based on their roles and potential externalities, greening of GDP, different sustainable growth modeling, and conceptual definition of strong and weak sustainability. Many economists assume that sustainable growth is part of economic development. Some economic indicators may assess and anticipate conditions and trends by providing early warning information to avoid future economic, environmental, and social problems. In addition, they can help you formulate strategies and support decision-making at all levels. A useful perspective on the integration of economic indicators and impacts and consequences to SD practices was not objectively provided by literature. The sustainability economics has been thought of as an aggregation of environmental resources and economic mechanisms, forgetting of the other SD dimensions. Approaches for assessing economic dimension to SD do not capture the multidimensional relationships that are needed to analyze the complex system. The common methods quantify the sources of gains for individual groups or regions and nations and account for limitations on economic growth posed by environmental constraints, social implications, and institutional settings without articulating them. This is not enough and makes it necessary to make clear what are the connections between different approaches of economic indicators used to manage and measure sustainability. A comprehensive approach to economic assessment in the SD perspective must start by guiding indicators in a systematic way. The aim of this chapter is to develop a debate around the main economic indicator approaches and paths to SD, by conducting a critical analysis of potentialities and weaknesses identified in the literature. This chapter also explains these different approaches and how they may influence SD discourse and the role of economic indicators in this process.

Sustainability leadership entails the processes, which leaders, policymakers, and academics undertake in order to implement sustainable development policies and other initiatives within their organizations. It encompasses approaches, methods, and systemic solutions to solve problems and drive institutional policy towards a more sustainable organization. Higher Education Institutions (HEI) play a particularly important role, especially with regard to their institutional leadership role in promoting sustainable development. There is a paucity of research focusing on sustainability leadership in universities. In order to address this gap, this paper discussed the concept of sustainability leadership based on literature and empirical insights. The study aimed to understand the main characteristics of sustainability leaders at HEI and the main challenges they are confronted with. Secondary research questions involved gender issues and positive outcomes of sustainability leadership. The empirical component of the study consisted of an online-questionnaire survey performed among leaders (n = 50) from a set of universities in 29 countries. The sampling scheme was purposive, based on the membership in the Inter-University Sustainable Development Research Program (IUSDRP). The study was explorative in nature, and the descriptive statistics were used for the analysis. Due to the purposive sampling, the participants from top management positions could be considered as experienced, and their views were assumed to be information-rich. With a self-evaluation, the respondents described their leadership style and their usual traits, with inclusive style and systemic thinking being predominant in the sample. Regarding the skills, the respondents selected the ability to innovate, to think long-term, and to manage complexity from a pre-defined set of options. Connectedness with interdisciplinarity and knowledge about organizational settings, as well as global challenges and dilemmas, were stated as important issues related to the knowledge required for being a leader. Regarding requirements for a change towards more sustainable universities&rsquo, curriculum adaptation, investments in education for sustainable development (ESD), sustainable procurement, and reporting were mentioned. The study also revealed that gender issues were taken seriously among the sampled institutions, which is an encouraging trend. Challenges seen in implementing sustainability leadership are, for instance, a lack of interest by the university administration and among some members of the academic community, as well as lack of expertise and materials or resources. Based on the empirical insights, a set of measures were listed and which may be adopted in the future, so as to allow leaders of Higher Education Institutions to enhance their sustainability performance.

O ensaio apresenta os principais elementos e diretrizes da chamada gestão responsável (GR): responsabilidade, ética e sustentabilidade. São descritos também os principais elementos que constituem o Principles for Responsible Management Education (PRME), iniciativa da Organização das Nações Unidas (ONU) para o fomento e desenvolvimento da GR. Além disso, os autores relatam as experiências do PRME no Brasil e no mundo e, principalmente, os resultados do congresso realizado no Brasil, em setembro de 2017, no qual se discutiu o tema em diversas perspectivas.

The objective of this research is to analyze the influence of direct foreign investment and of the productive capacity in the adoption of sustainable certifications in Brazilian sugarcane sector. The data survey was done from a sample comprised by 100 mills, which represent 58% of the companies operating in the state of Sao Paulo, Brazil. The data were analyzed with the multivariate binomial logistic regression model. The results do not support the hypothesis that direct foreign investment has positive relation with sustainable certifications. The hypothesis that productive capacity is positively related to the adoption of sustainable certification was statistically significant. The results suggest that the positive impact of direct foreign investment on the sustainability of the local country depends on the occurrence of strong governmental institutions and of the quality of corporate conduct supervision, as well as the absorption and learning capacity that organizations must present in view of the flow of foreign investment. Regarding the relationship of productive capacity - milling – with the search for certifications, it can be seen that the larger mills export their products to specialized and more demanding markets, with certification being a prerequisite for buying and selling. Thus, this study contributes to the existing literature by advancing in themes of whicg relation is understudied, especially in this sector.

The National Border Strip (BS) geographically comprises the region of the Brazilian territorial boundary and, historically, is recognized by isolation, socio-economic and environmental vulnerabilities. In order to overcome these difficulties and promote sustainable regional development, a set of public policies was implemented, with emphasis on restructuring the Border Area Development Plan (PDFF) in 2005. In face of the investments made and the scarcity of information about this territory, this paper identified the main policies implemented in the BS based on literature review and documentary research. Also, thematic maps showed the effects of these policies on the changeovers of education, health, employment and income indicators, all calculated for the years 2005 and 2011. The results show that the policies emphasized development in the social and economic spheres, with less emphasis on the environmental context. Improvements in living conditions were identified in most municipalities, especially in education and health. Resumen La Franja Fronteriza nacional (FF) comprende geográficamente la región del límite territorial brasileño e históricamente es reconocida por el aislamiento, vulnerabilidades socioeconómicas y ambientales. Con el fin de superar estas dificultades y promover el desarrollo regional sostenible, se implementó un conjunto de políticas públicas, con énfasis en la reestructuración del Plan de Desarrollo de la Zona Fronteriza (PDFF) en 2005. Frente a las inversiones realizadas y la escasez de información sobre este territorio, el estudio identificó las principales políticas implementadas en el FF basadas en revisión de literatura e investigación documental. Además, en mapas temáticos se mostraron los efectos de estas políticas en la variación de los indicadores de educación, salud, empleo e ingreso, calculados para los años 2005 y 2011. Los resultados muestran que las políticas enfatizaron el desarrollo en el ámbito social y económico, con menos énfasis en el contexto ambiental. Se identificaron mejoras en las condiciones de vida en la mayoría de las municipalidades, en especial en la educación y la salud. No intuito de superar essas dificuldades e promover o desenvolvimento regional sustentável, um conjunto de políticas públicas foi implementado, com destaque para a reestruturação do Programa de Desenvolvimento da Faixa de Fronteira (PDFF), em 2005. Face aos investimentos efetivados e a escassez de informações sobre este território, o estudo identificou, mediante revisão bibliográfica e documental, as principais políticas executadas na FF. Ademais, evidenciou em mapas temáticos o reflexo destas ações na evolução dos indicadores de educação, saúde, emprego e renda, calculados para os anos de 2005 e 2011. Os resultados mostram que as políticas enfatizaram o desenvolvimento das esferas social e econômica, com menor ênfase para o contexto ambiental. Identificaram-se ainda melhorias nas condições de vida na maior parte dos municípios, principalmente em educação e saúde.

The Sustainable Human Resources Management (Sustainable HRM) adds organizational sustainability to people management subsystems. All areas of an organization depend largely on the action of the people. Therefore, if the organization's purpose is to be sustainable, it must provide the alignment between the guidelines of sustainability and their people management initiatives. The challenge of the Sustainable HRM is therefore to manage the organizations in relation to their human and social, natural and economic resources, involving organizational sustainability to their areas. Balance investments to meet the three aspects of sustainability tripod are part of the changes suggested by the Sustainable HRM. Although interest in Sustainable HRM is recurrent, more research is needed to develop a practical, clear and objective guide to be followed by organizations. Through the Soft System Methodology, a systemic methodology, a conceptual model and a framework of actions and indicators for Sustainable HRM were developed in this study, in order to provide support both strategic and operational to organizations. As a result, the HRM subsystems were adapted to encompass sustainable actions according to the sustainability pillars (environmental, social and economic), generating a framework of actions and indicators that companies can use to carry out the Sustainable HRM.

This paper presents the correlation between the level of knowledge on sustainability of students from FEA-RP / USP, a Brazilian businesses school signatory to the Principles for Responsible Management Education (PRME), and knowledge of the sustainability, environmental, social and economic dimensions. By understanding the important role of higher education institutions in the training of responsible leaders, in 2014 FEA-RP / USP participated in the first round of the international search Sustainability Literacy Test (Sulite) developed by Kedge Business School. We have, as a research problem: what is the influence of the variation of knowledge in the three dimensions of ustainability, in an isolated sense, on the students’ total knowledge of the subject? The results confirm the first hypothesis of this study that determined that the score in the environmental dimension knowledge was associated with the change in the total knowledge on sustainability by students. Other dimensions did not show significant correlations. It is hoped that further studies may shed light on the changes of knowledge in sustainability in accordance with the area of training or education level of students.

Purpose The concept of sustainability evokes a multiplicity of meanings, depending on the field. Some authors have criticized the concept for its vagueness. Notwithstanding this criticism, worldwide efforts to meet the sustainable development goals (SDGs) are in progress and are expected to yield results by 2030. This paper aims to addresses two issues and make two primary contributions. First, the concept of sustainability is revisited to develop its integrative understanding. This concept is built on systems thinking – specifically, on the concepts of synergy, emergence, recursion and self-organization. Second, an approach is developed to help determine whether the efforts being made towards the SDGs can be expected to be effective (i.e., whether the world can hope to soon be a system that self-organizes towards sustainability). Design/methodology/approach Based on the assumption that the SDGs and their respective targets are systemically interrelated, the data on the progress towards the SDGs are correlated and the outcome is analysed. Findings The emerging pattern of correlations reflected the systemic coherence of the efforts as an indication of self-organization towards sustainability. This pattern also revealed that the efforts are still spotty and that the systemic synergy has not yet taken place. This correlation approach to Brazil is then applied. The data about Brazil’s progress towards the SDGs from the World Bank’s Word Development Indicators (WDI) database are gathered. The outcomes indicated that Brazil as a whole cannot yet be seen as self-organizing system that is evolving towards sustainability. Research limitations/implications To enable the calculation of the correlation matrix, the data series were not allowed to have missing values. Some of the WDI data series had many missing values and had to be eliminated. This unfortunately reduced the variability of the original data. In addition, the missing values in the remaining data series had to be calculated by means of interpolation or extrapolation. There are alternative algorithms to perform such functions. The impact of the interpolation and extrapolation of the missing values on the study, as well as the pros and cons of different algorithms, required investigation. It is important to remark that the WDI series was the only global and open data set that aligned with the SDGs. Social implications In Brazil, it is important to maintain the public policies that affect SDG 1-6, but it is necessary to develop policies geared towards SDG 12. Environmental goals also need more public policies (SDGs 14 and 15). To achieve this 2030 Agenda, much effort will be required for SDG 17, which is related to greater synergy through partnerships. Originality/value Three qualitatively distinct levels of efforts to sustainability are identified: individual, organizational and world activities. At the individual level, progress regarding sustainability depends on personal attitudes, including the willingness to abandon a self-centred lifestyle in favour of a more cooperative way of living and making decisions, and to embrace a new approach to ethics, which replaces self-interest by self-denial and self-sacrifice (de Raadt & de Raadt, 2014). At the organizational level, a paradox of the need to internalize environmental and social costs into generic strategies and the sustainability strategy that involves core businesses are challenges for systems working towards sustainability. When it comes to global level, in this paper, the authors tried to make a contribution to push forward the frontier of knowledge by proposing an approach to understand whether the progress made towards the SDGs in the past 25 years indicates that the world is, after all, organizing for sustainability (Schwaninger, 2015).

A demanda por uma administracao mais sustentavel das organizacoes e crescente. No entanto, poucos estudos direcionam a tomada de decisao sobre gestao sustentavel em empresas de pequeno porte. Este estudo se propos identificar principais motivadores e barreiras para adocao da gestao sustentavel segundo percepcao de micro e pequenos empresarios. A coleta de dados foi realizada por meio de questionario que foi respondido por 72 empresas dos estados de Sao Paulo, Parana e Mato Grosso. Para a analise dos dados foram utilizadas as tecnicas de analise fatorial e analise de conglomerados. Por meio deste estudo foi possivel estabelecer um conjunto de oito fatores que influenciam na gestao sustentavel de empresas de pequeno porte e tracar tres perfis de empresas no quesito gestao sustentavel. Verificou-se que a maioria das empresas se enquadraram numa abordagem preventiva em relacao a gestao sustentavel. Estudos em profundidade sao recomendados para explicar os resultados.

By applying systems thinking theory to capabilities literature, this paper examines the factors that support the development of dynamic capabilities towards sustainable management. For such, we conducted an in-depth single case study using Soft System Methodology (SSM) in an energy organisation from an emerging economy. Our analysis of the last twenty years of operation revealed that the organisation has developed new ways to change and adapt in a disturbing environment by integrating sustainability into three factors: (1) integrative strategy (green products, biodiversity, organic processes and self-sufficient electricity), (2) sustainable culture (sustainable mindset, environmental awareness, learning orientation and decision-making processes) and (3) organisational routines for innovation (new green processes and products, partnerships/alliances and knowledge management). Our results extend the literature by raising a conceptual framework of the fundamental dimensions of dynamic capabilities for sustainability. This is the first study that connects systems thinking and dynamic capabilities theories applied to sustainable management.

Human capital is recognized as a pillar of the creation of intellectual capital and is fundamental for the productivity and functioning of organizations. From a contemporary perspective, human capital ceases to be considered only as cost and is seen as an investment, once it is possible to measure it. The objective of this article was to measure some existing approaches to capital human measurement, using as a methodological tool a bibliometric research in the last 11 years of the papers submitted and approved at EnAnpad, which is an event organized by the National Association of PostGraduate Studies and Research in Administration (ANPAD). The bibliometric research was elaborated by quantitative documentary analysis. The results showed, among others, a great diversity of areas in relation to how this theme is treated. This leads to reflections on how human capital has been gaining space for discussions in various organizational environments. There is a sign that from this subject, before, certainly, a discussion almost restricts the area of human resources, now goes beyond the walls and departmental currencies.

One negative point of management education is the lack of integration between the disciplines that restrains a systemic view. Moreover, there is not much research about an interdisciplinary approach to management. This paper applies soft systems methodology to develop a scale of interdisciplinarity in order to evaluate management education. We conclude that interdisciplinarity in management education is a social system that requires complex thinking development for management students. Sustainability is a topic that has gained importance in several fields of knowledge, including the public, private and society spheres, based on the discussions that involve the definition of several public policies. Sustainability Indicators (SI) are metrics that seek to measure the level of sustainability and compile information for better decision-making concerning policies, programs, projects and actions related to sustainability. Demonstrated their relevance to public policies the SI appears as an essential tool for evaluating development goals as a sustainable proposal. In this way, this research aimed to discuss the main challenges and methodological limitations found in the use of SI, emphasizing the main fragilities identified in the literature. In methodological terms, the research has exploratory characteristics, supported by the mixed methods approach using a theoretical-empirical analysis, from the available literature on the subject and the methodologies used and the experience of researchers about the topic addressed. The main results demonstrated that Sustainability Indicators are tools that should be used to define, implement, evaluate and monitor public policies at all levels, considering the potentialities/weaknesses and priorities of each context.

Although corporate citizenship (CC) has gained space in the discussion of organizations' responsibilities, previous research indicates that this is not a solid concept inside a company, suggesting a significant level of heterogeneity below the firm level. Based on secondary data collection, documental analysis, interviews and a survey of 403 employees, we investigate the microfoundations of CC in a company leader in sustainable initiatives. Our analyses revealed four distinct profiles: (a) dreamers, who see CC at an advanced level of understanding inside the company and whose corporate actions are coherent with the strategic intent of the firm to become a global citizen; (b) believers, who recognize previous actions on CC but who still see low leadership engagement and, consequently, room for improvement regarding CC management; (c) critics, who perceive that the company is doing something but who identify several faults and areas for improvement; and (d) skeptics, who do not acknowledge the company's effort toward CC or who are not able to connect corporate strategy with CC. Furthermore, we provide a framework for managing the perceptions of CC to increase employee engagement. Thus, the study brings fresh thoughts on how CC is spread and understood inside firms and reveals the importance of firms' microstructures for the development and implementation of sustainability strategies.

Actualmente, muchas organizaciones trabajan para minimizar y contribuir para resolver los problemasambientales. En esa dirección, el área de recursos humanos emerge como facilitadora de la implantación deprácticas y políticas ambientales en las empresas, principalmente por la utilización de los programas deentrenamiento. Esta investigación tiene como objetivo analizar la influencia del entrenamiento ambiental enla conciencia ambiental de los profesionales de recursos humanos. Con un abordaje cuantitativodescriptivo, se aplicó un cuestionario, ya validado, a 73 profesionales de recursos humanos de la región deLondrina-PR. El análisis de datos involucró la estadística descriptiva y el teste sin parámetros χ 2 dePearson. Los resultados señalaron la relación entre el entrenamiento ambiental y la conciencia ambientalde los profesionales de recursos humanos investigados: de hecho, los que recibieron algún tipo deentrenamiento ambiental presentaron un nivel de conciencia ambiental mayor que los que no recibieronningún entrenamiento en esa área.

El objetivo en este estudio es identificar las debilidades en el modelo de informe propuesto por el GRI (Global Reporting Initiative), en la opinion de los responsables de la presentacion de los reportes. La importancia de este trabajo radica en el hecho de que en pocos estudios se investigan los informes de sostenibilidad desde este punto de vista, y porque presenta puntos especificos para mejorar. Se llevo a cabo un analisis de contenido de las respuestas de 27 empresas a la pregunta: ?que aspectos negativos identifica usted en el modelo de informe propuesto por el GRI? Esta pregunta fue enviada a todas las empresas brasilenas que publicaron el informe GRI para el ano base 2010, entre los anos 2011 y 2013. Como resultado, los encuestados opinaron que las empresas tienen dificultad para entender el modelo propuesto por el GRI, que fue considerado complejo, ambiguo y demasiado flexible, lo que hace dificil estandarizar y comparar los informes. Esto tiene implicaciones para el GRI, que podria proponer una metodologia mas sencilla y menos flexible.

This paper presents an analysis of student perspectives in a public college of management, signatory of the Principles for Responsible Management Education (PRME) and demonstrates how these students are able to promote the 2030 Agenda of the Sustainable Development through their student organizations. Student organizations may be considered Communities of Practice (CoPs) since they are dynamic, interactive and not controlled by the institution. Thus, an exchange of knowledge and participants’ engagement occurs naturally through shared values and practices. The proposed research question is “What are the values and practices shared in student organizations that are interpreted as CoPs in a public college of management that has concrete actions and potential to promote the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development?” A questionnaire was sent to all of the members of the nine student organizations, and it contained six open-ended questions as well as profile questions. The answers to the open-ended questions were submitted to qualitative and quantitative content analysis. The results show that there is evidence that student organizations connect people by their beliefs, passions and shared values to achieve several goals, acting as CoPs, and have concrete actions and potential to promote the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
