Introduction. The world population experiences an increase in Elders (PAM) from 12% to 22% by the year 2050. An increase in mental health diseases, such as depression, anxiety and stress are seen in this population group. Objective. Know the Mindfulness-based techniques and its effects on the mental health of the PAM. Method. Conducted through the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA); Randomized and non-randomized clinical trials of articles with the application of Mindfulness-based techniques that had an effect on mental health were included; search carried out in the databases: MedLine/PubMed, Wiley, Science Direct, Virtual Library of Health (BVS) and others; risk of bias assessment according to Cochrane guidelines. Results. 13 articles were included where it was found that Mindfulness-based techniques have a positive effect on the mental health of the PAM, where the MBSR was the most used technique. Conclusions. The use of Mindfulness-based techniques is recommended as a scientifically based and low-cost way to improve the mental health of PAM. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The article highlights the importance of comprehensive care for the elderly to prevent falls, addressing intrinsic and extrinsic risk factors through an interdisciplinary approach. A evidence-based care plan is proposed, which includes nutritional interventions and physical rehabilitation to improve the quality of life of patients. Introducción. Los cambios del envejecimiento son multidimensionales y multifactoriales, y el síndrome geriátrico de fragilidad es su expresión más problemática y compleja. Este lleva a vulnerabilidad, cambio desproporcionado del estado de salud y declinación funcional, haciéndose necesaria su identificación efectiva y un abordaje integral. Objetivo. Describir las características sociodemográficas, clínicas, funcionales y relacionales de la fragilidad en adultos mayores con riesgo cardiovascular en el suroccidente colombiano. Materiales y métodos. Se desarrolló un estudio observacional, de tipo transversal, analítico. La población seleccionada fueron adultos mayores inscritos en un programa de riesgo cardiovascular y metabólico en Popayán, Cauca. Mediante un análisis multivariado, se exploró la relación entre fragilidad y algunas variables sociodemográficas, clínicas y funcionales. Resultados. Participaron 293 adultos mayores, principalmente mujeres (69,6 %), con edad promedio de 71,23 ± 7,38 años. El 77,1 % se clasificó como independientes en actividades básicas y, el 56,3 %, en actividades instrumentales de la vida diaria; predominó la autonomía en hombres. El 71,1 % de las mujeres y el 43,8 % de los hombres se clasificaron como prefrágiles. En el análisis bivariado, se encontró una relación entre la fragilidad, y las variables sexo, edad, estado civil, nivel educativo, ocupación, perímetro de pantorrilla, capacidad funcional, capacidad instrumental y funcionalidad familiar. El análisis multivariado demostró mayor prevalencia (55 %) de fragilidad o prefragilidad en las mujeres. Conclusiones. La mayoría de los participantes se clasificaron como prefrágiles; prevaleció la dependencia y fragilidad en las mujeres, lo que sugiere la necesidad de implementar estrategias de prevención y un abordaje diferencial según el sexo.

OBJECTIVE: To review the available evidence in English-speaking articles that relates hearing loss as a risk factor for dementia in elderly patients. METHODOLOGY: A systematic review has been carried out following the PRISMA guidelines of the reports from the PubMed and Scopus databases, 2016-2023, written in English, with the keywords "hearing loss is a risk factors for dementia". RESULTS: A total of 351 potential writings were found in the indicated search databases, 223 articles were eliminated for being duplicates or in other languages, 103 were excluded for being book chapters, animal experiments or having another research design, 19 for not having free access, with a total of 6 writings for review. Objetivo: Describir la prevalencia de caídas en el último año en sujetos mayores de 50 años que acuden al servicio de kinesiología de un hospital de la Ciudad Autónoma de Buenos Aires. Los objetivos secundarios son informar si existe asociación entre el antecedente de caídas y la sarcopenia, así como determinar la prevalencia del riesgo de caídas en sujetos mayores de 65 años. Materiales y métodos: Estudio observacional, prospectivo y transversal. Se incluyeron sujetos mayores de 50 años que acudieron al consultorio de kinesiología de un hospital de la Ciudad Autónoma de Buenos Aires entre el 2 de enero y el 29 de febrero de 2024. Para evaluar el riesgo de caídas y la presencia de sarcopenia, se utilizaron la prueba cronometrada de levantarse y caminar (TUG, por sus siglas en inglés) y el algoritmo propuesto por el Grupo Europeo de Trabajo en Sarcopenia en Personas Mayores 2, respectivamente. Resultados: De 86 sujetos, la prevalencia de antecedentes de caídas fue del 52,33 %, con una mediana de edad de 62,82 años. No se encontró una relación estadísticamente significativa entre la sarcopenia probable y las caídas (valor p=0,89). La prevalencia del riesgo de caídas en adultos mayores de 65 años fue del 24 %. Conclusión: Un total del 52,33 % de los sujetos mayores de 50 años sufrieron al menos una caída. La prevalencia del riesgo de caídas en adultos mayores fue del 24 %. No hubo asociación entre la sarcopenia y los antecedentes de caídas.

Introducción: Para mejorar la salud de la población adulta mayor se necesitan tecnologías novedosas como la intersectorialidad. Objetivo: Describir la necesidad de la aplicación de la intersectorialidad como tecnología en la atención a los adultos mayores. Métodos: Se realizó una revisión narrativa entre los meses de diciembre de 2023 y agosto de 2024, a través de las bases de datos Scielo, Medline y el motor de búsqueda Google Scholar, con las palabras clave en idioma español. Se recuperaron alrededor de 1320 documentos, entre libros, tesis y artículos científicos, de los cuales, se seleccionaron los 25 más pertinentes al estudio. Se eligieron estudios publicados en revistas de acceso abierto y libros o artículos de alto impacto en la temática, en idioma español o inglés. Resultados: La intersectorialidad como tecnología se basa en la aplicación del conocimiento científico a la solución de problemas prácticos mediante una cultura que provee métodos para interactuar con el entorno físico-social y mejorar las condiciones de vida. La intersectorialidad en la atención a los adultos mayores resulta una vía esencial para mejorar la salud bucal y las necesidades de servicios estomatológicos que pueden tener los adultos mayores, como herramienta del trabajo social y comunitario en salud. Conclusiones: El impacto del envejecimiento sobre la sociedad, la salud y los servicios estomatológicos y las crecientes demandas de atención de la población mayor de 60 años, a causa de las características propias de su edad, manifiestan la necesidad de aplicar la intersectorialidad como garantía de mayor salud y bienestar.

Introduction: community clubs are a participatory care model that responds to various needs of older people, whose purpose is to promote the continuity of their participation within society with the development of activities to maintain a quality of life through active aging. and with success. Objective: to validate a life experience scale in older adults who attend community clubs attached to the Metropolitan Center for the Elderly (CEMAN) in Zapopan, Jalisco, Mexico. Method: 120 older adults aged 60 and over participated. A scale of 54 questions distributed in four dimensions was designed: participation, sense of belonging, social networks and meaning of life. The Cronbach's alpha reliability coefficient calculation method was used. To analyze the validity of the questionnaire, an exploratory factor analysis of each item was carried out. Results: with the analysis of the matrix of rotated components, eight questions that were not feasible were eliminated because they had a value less than 0.5, leaving a total of 46 items. The scale as a whole showed a reliability of œ=0.96, showing a high level of agreement with this study population. Conclusion: the scale allowed us to record the life experiences of older adult members of a community club in relation to their family, social, emotional and leisure activities that they were losing during the aging process, it was recorded how they compensate for the activities they have lost. to feel integrated into society, which favors their quality of life.

Introducción: El fenómeno de las caídas es uno de gran incidencia en la población adulta mayor. Asimismo, presenta consecuencias diversas en la salud de la persona, lo que trae como consecuencia una vivencia diferente de una caída en el adulto mayor. Los adultos mayores del área rural están expuesto a sufrir una caída por las irregularidades en el terreno. Objetivo: Describir la experiencia de una caída en el adulto mayor del área rural. Metodología: Mediante el enfoque cualitativo y el método fenomenológico se realizó una entrevista semiestructurada a adultos mayores de una comunidad rural. Resultados y Discusión: Se clasificaron los argumentos de los participantes en las categorías autonomía para las actividades, respuesta emocional y respuesta social. Conclusión. La experiencia de haber sufrido una ciada produce una disminución en la capacidad de realizar actividades cotidianas y lleva a una sobreprotección familiar. Sin embargo, expresa un deseo por seguir siendo una persona activa.

Introducción: La tendencia demográfica mundial hacia el envejecimiento poblacional y, por tanto, el incremento de la población adulta mayor resulta preocupante para los profesionales de los servicios estomatológicos. La relación entre el estomatólogo y el adulto mayor constituye el marco a la interacción académica o intelectual y el vínculo afectivo necesario en la práctica clínica, para la construcción ascendente de una relación armónica, sólida y exitosa. Objetivo: Analizar los aspectos que caracterizan la relación del estomatólogo con el adulto mayor. Desarrollo: La relación del estomatólogo con el adulto mayor se cataloga como profesional y afectiva, resultante de la mezcla de las aptitudes y del conocimiento científico de la profesión. La confianza y la seguridad sustentan en el tiempo, el desarrollo de una relación fraternal. Conclusiones: La relación del estomatólogo con el adulto mayor se establece en un marco interpersonal, profesional e intencional; se caracterizada por valores atemperados a la personalidad, conocimientos y habilidades, lo que propicia que sea equilibrada, armónica y respetuosa.

Introduction: The WHO reported that 5.7% of older adults (OA) suffer from depression, but it is believed that there is a worsened underestimation due to the projected 64.0% growth of the elderly population by 2030. This study sought to reevaluate this estimation by identifying sociodemographic and health risk factors associated with depression in OA through a systematic review and meta-analysis. Methodology: Systematic review of PubMed and WoS databases from 2020 to 2024, using the theoretical framework of the Joanna Briggs Institute. Results were reported according to PRISMA guidelines. Institutionalized adults and those associated with COVID-19 complications were excluded. Results: It was found that the prevalence of depression in OA was six times higher than reported by the WHO in 70.0% of the reviewed studies. 2,433 articles were examined, duplicates were removed based on inclusion criteria, and ten key articles were thoroughly analyzed in this review. Abnormal sleep, malnutrition, previous use of antidepressants, and daily alcohol consumption were the most important health risk factors for depression in older adults. The most important sociodemographic risk factors were dependence, unemployment (or lack of income), rural living, and single marital status (or loneliness). Conclusion: The prevalence of depression in OA is underestimated, and there are behaviors that increase their risk. Doctors should be aware of them to prevent depression and promote their quality of life. Poor sleep quality is the most important risk factor in depression in older adults, good quality could avoid the use of antidepressants and alcohol consumption promoting the adoption of healthy lifestyles. The elderly have always been considered to be people at risk, due to the various physical and psychological health problems they present. However, during this time of pandemic these health problems have been exacerbated due to isolation, negative thoughts, and the deaths of family members, among other factors. This has led to depressive episodes, anxiety, insomnia, stress, and suicidal ideation. The objective of this review is to analyze how COVID-19 has impacted the mental health of the elderly, through various publications between 2020 and 2022. After conducting a search in the following databases: SCIELO, EBSCO, Pubmed, REDIB, Science Direct, Redalyc, Proquest, and Dialnet, 18 articles were found that met the inclusion and exclusion criteria. Finally, it was found that the COVID-19 pandemic has negatively affected the mental health of the elderly, which is why some authors state that it is very important that the countries of the world have strategies or programs to support adults to be able to face this pandemic adequately and thus be prepared for similar situations that may occur in the future. La diabetes mellitus tipo 2 (DM2) es una de las principales preocupaciones de salud pública en el mundo, especialmente entre la población de adultos mayores. El ejercicio físico, tanto aeróbico como de fuerza, ha demostrado ser una intervención eficaz para mejorar el control glucémico, integrándola con otros aspectos terapéuticos como la modificación de hábitos alimenticios y la suministración de farmacobiológicos, la salud cardiovascular y la calidad de vida en este grupo etario. Esta revisión sistemática examina los beneficios del ejercicio en adultos mayores con DM2, analizando la literatura existente y proporcionando recomendaciones basadas en la evidencia. La incorporación de ejercicios aeróbicos y de fuerza en la rutina de los pacientes con diabetes mellitus presenta numerosos beneficios, que incluyen un mejor control glucémico, control del peso, mejor salud cardiovascular y mayor bienestar mental. Sin embargo, existen limitaciones físicas, en acceso a recursos, motivacionales y la necesidad de una orientación adecuada. Al abordar estas limitaciones a través de programas de ejercicio personalizados, recursos comunitarios, sistemas de apoyo y educación, los pacientes pueden integrar eficazmente estos ejercicios en sus vidas, lo que conduce a mejores resultados de salud y una mejor calidad de vida.

En la actualidad, la concepción tradicional de la jubilación experimenta una transformación significativa a medida que la sociedad envejece y las expectativas individuales evolucionan, por tal motivo, la investigación consideró como objetivo conocer la relación del emprendimiento social y las dimensiones: pasión por el emprendimiento, orientación a la sustentabilidad e identificación de oportunidades con la sostenibilidad en adultos mayores. La investigación presentó un diseño no experimental, corte transeccional, correlacional, descriptivo, de enfoque cuantitativo, la técnica aplicada fue una encuesta adaptada, por instrumento cuestionario para cada variable, instando con la participación de un grupo de 100 adultos mayores que han dejado de laborar a efectos de su edad. Como resultado, se obtuvo una correlación positiva muy fuerte entre la variable emprendimiento social y desarrollo sostenible, con un indicador Rho de Spearman de 0.957. Se concluyó que las propuestas formativas que planteen emprendimiento social se relacionan con el desarrollo sostenible de los adultos mayores.

El objetivo de esta investigación fue comprender cómo las legislaciones de los países latinoamericanos, mediante un estudio de derecho comparado, garantizan una protección especial de los derechos humanos de los adultos mayores. Metodología: se realizó un estudio cualitativo basado en la revisión documental de las legislaciones vigentes en América Latina. El análisis se centró en seis categorías clave: derecho a la vida y a la seguridad social, derecho a la no discriminación, derecho a la justicia y a un trato digno, derecho a la educación y a la cultura, derecho a un nivel de vida adecuado y a la vivienda, y derecho al trabajo y disfrute del tiempo libre. Los datos fueron recopilados de fuentes oficiales y académicas, y se compararon las normativas para identificar avances y vacíos en la protección de los derechos de los adultos mayores. Los resultados mostraron avances significativos en la promulgación de leyes que protegen los derechos humanos de los adultos mayores, especialmente en el acceso a la seguridad social y la no discriminación. Sin embargo, persisten deficiencias importantes en la implementación de estas normativas, particularmente en las áreas de acceso al empleo, vivienda adecuada y oportunidades recreativas. Además, algunos marcos legales carecen de mecanismos concretos para garantizar la aplicación efectiva de los derechos establecidos. Conclusiones: aunque los marcos legales en América Latina reconocen de manera formal los derechos de los adultos mayores, la implementación práctica de estas normativas sigue siendo un reto. Por tanto, se requieren reformas más concretas que garanticen una protección efectiva y equitativa, especialmente en el acceso a servicios básicos y oportunidades laborales. Asimismo, el estudio subrayó la necesidad urgente de fortalecer los mecanismos de cumplimiento para asegurar que los derechos de este grupo vulnerable sean plenamente respetados.

El proceso natural de envejecimiento conlleva una serie de cambios físicos, entre ellos la pérdida progresiva de fuerza en los adultos mayores, incluyendo la fuerza de agarre. Este declive en la capacidad de agarre no solo afecta la realización de tareas cotidianas, sino que también puede tener consecuencias significativas en la calidad de vida de estas personas. Investigaciones respaldadas por un corpus de 13 artículos científicos, seleccionados rigurosamente mediante análisis PRISMA, PEDro y Newcastle-Ottawa, revelan que la disminución de la fuerza de agarre está estrechamente relacionada con un mayor riesgo de caídas, lo que a su vez puede desencadenar una serie de complicaciones que van desde lesiones menores hasta consecuencias graves. Es crucial abordar este aspecto del deterioro físico en los adultos mayores para mitigar su impacto y promover un envejecimiento activo y saludable.

En esta investigación se buscó determinar la relación entre el estado nutricional y el estilo de vida del adulto mayor. Fue una investigación con un enfoque cuantitativo, analítico y de campo en 149 individuos. Se diseñó una matriz para el registro de las características sociodemográficas. Se aplicaron los instrumentos: cribado nutricional Mini Nutritional Assessment (MNA), escala de estilo de vida. Los factores asociados a la malnutrición y las morbilidades también fueron evaluados. Resultados: edad 67,4 ± 8,36 años; sexo femenino (62,4%), casados o unión estable (36,2 %) y nivel educativo, secundaria (54,4%). Según el test Mini Nutritional Assessment, (MNA) el estado nutricional normal predominó en el 53 % y los parámetros antropométricos explorados fueron el peso 64,70 ± 10,99, la talla 1,58 ± 0,07, el Índice de Masa Corporal normal prevalencia en el sexo femenino, circunferencia branquial 25,87 ± 1,82 y perímetro de pantorrilla 33,02 ± 1.65. No obstante, el 46 % de los adultos mayores tuvieron riesgo de malnutrición. El 89% manifestaron estilo de vida no saludable. Los principales factores asociados que influyeron fueron el económico y el sociocultural. El 40,3% de los pacientes presentaron HTA. Hubo una relación estadísticamente significativa entre estado nutricional y estilo de vida con p-valor de 0,01, así como también entre estilo de vida y la diabetes mellitus tipo 2. Es importante aplicar escalas de evaluación en la atención primaria que permitan identificar el estado nutricional y el estilo de vida del adulto mayor, debido a que existe relación entre ambas variables.

Objetivo: determinar las principales complicaciones asociados a la Diabetes Mellitus tipo 2 en pacientes geriátricos de una casa de salud de la ciudad de Riobamba. Método: investigación de tipo descriptiva, transversal y retrospectiva, se recolectaron los datos de las historias clínicas a una población de adultos geriátricos mayores a 60 años de una casa de salud en la ciudad de Riobamba. Resultados: 56% de los participantes fueron mujeres con diagnóstico de diabetes mellitus tipo 2. La media de edad fue de 70.8 años, aunque se consideró una edad mayor de 80 años para el desarrollo de complicaciones como cardiopatías, retinopatías y nefropatías. La nefropatía fue la complicación crónica más común, con una prevalencia del 26.7% en adultos mayores con diabetes. Además, se encontró que el 46.7% de los pacientes requerían insulinoterapia como parte de su tratamiento, mientras que solo el 0.8% dependía de intervenciones no farmacológicas, como dieta y ejercicio. Conclusiones: existió una alta prevalencia de diabetes mellitus tipo 2 en mujeres mayores de 70 años, con la nefropatía como la complicación crónica más común. El elevado porcentaje de pacientes que requieren insulinoterapia resalta la importancia de un enfoque farmacológico en el manejo de la enfermedad. Estos hallazgos subrayan la necesidad de intervenciones específicas y protocolos de tratamiento adaptados a las características de la población de adultos mayores con diabetes para prevenir y controlar eficazmente las complicaciones asociadas.

La diabetes mellitus tipo 2 es una enfermedad crónica multifactorial, caracterizada por la presencia de una resistencia a la insulina generada por una disfunción de las células beta. La enfermedad de Alzheimer es considerada como la enfermedad neurodegenerativa más frecuente de las demencias, se caracteriza por un deterioro progresivo y persistente de la función cognitiva global. A través de investigaciones epidemiológicas se observa que la diabetes mellitus tipo 2 se asocia con un mayor riesgo de deterioro cognitivo y su progreso hacia la demencia, con mayor frecuencia a una demencia tipo Alzheimer. La revisión bibliográfica se basó en la utilización de la metodología PICO para extraer información actualizada sobre la influencia que ejerce la diabetes mellitus tipo 2 sobre la demencia tipo Alzheimer, de artículos actualizados publicados los últimos cinco años, en la base de datos BVS y PubMed. Para el respectivo análisis, se eligieron 13 artículos, trabajos investigativos que exploraron la relación de estas dos enfermedades por medio de test neurológicos, análisis del ADN mitocondrial y resonancia magnética. Los 13 artículos científicos evidenciaron, que la diabetes mellitus tipo 2 tiene una influencia significativa en el desarrollo de la enfermedad de Alzheimer, debido a los cambios cognitivos demostrados.

Introduction: the objective of this study was to assess the oral health-related quality of life (OHRQoL) in older adults attending the gerontological centers of Cantón Pedro Moncayo. Methods: a cross-sectional study was conducted with a convenience sample of 61 older adults from three Gerontological Centers located in the Pedro Moncayo Canton in Ecuador, who signed the informed consent form and met the inclusion criteria. Special assistance was provided to participants aged 87 to 100 years, during the survey by trained personnel. Data were collected through 2 sections: the first with data on age, sex, and prosthesis use, while the second section comprised the OHIP-Sp questionnaire consisting of 49 items with 7 sections. The SPSSv.26 statistical program was used to analyze the data. Results: significant differences in OHRQoL, as measured by OHIP-Sp, were observed across sociodemographic factors. Older adults aged 76 to 85 years, male sex and those without prosthesis had a higher mean score, respectively. Physical disability had the highest score (13.95 ± 3.90), indicating a poorer OHRQoL, while social disability had the lowest score (4.67 ± 2.83), associated with better OHRQoL. Conclusion: according to the results of the OHIP-Sp, it became evident that this group of older adults experienced deficiency in the OHRQoL, with the male sex being the most affected across different dimensions.

Subjective memory complaints (SMC) refer to verbalizations of memory decline perception. They can be a sign of a correct perception of decline or reflect the prelude to mild cognitive impairment and dementia. Due to the perception of memory deficit, older adults, often implement memory compensation strategies (MCS) to maximize performance in daily life. Quantitative, observational, cross-sectional design. The sample consisted in 121 non-institutionalized older adults between 60 and 92 (M = 71.7; SD = 7.8), from Buenos Aires city (63.6 % women). A weak negative correlation was observed between SMC and semantic fluency. There was a negative weak correlation between the educational level and the Success factor, indicative that more educated elderly perceived less necessity or motivation to compensate memory deficits. As for gender, women used more Internal Time, Effort and Change strategies. The elderly's score in the SMCQ was correlated with various compensation strategies, founding that the greater the SMC, the more Time, Effort, Reliance and Change strategies were used. Older adults who perceived more SMC use different compensation strategies than those with low SMC. Our findings are consistent with previous studies that affirm that, as older adults perceive deficits in their memory, they need more aids and, therefore, set forth compensatory mechanisms that allow them to adapt better to daily life. Introduction: In the elderly, the need for health services will increase due to the fact that the process of population aging is accelerating and intensifying. In addition, because of the social and economic inequalities and comorbidities that this population group presents, the demand for spaces in institutions for the elderly will increase. Objective: To develop a theoretical derivation based on Roy's middle-range theory of coping and adaptation to address the coping and adaptation phenomenon of the elderly to the institutionalization process. Methodology: To carry out this process, the methodology proposed by Jacqueline Fawcett was used, consisting of five steps: Identification of concepts. 2. Classification of the concepts of the middle-range theory. 3. Identification and classification of propositions. 4. Prioritization of propositions. 5. Construction of diagrams. Results: With the methodology used, a conceptualtheoretical- empirical derivation diagram with propositions diagram is proposed. Conclusion: A theoretical proposal was developed to enrich nursing care interventions; therefore, it is recommended to consider it for future research that can test the assumptions at various levels of abstraction. Aging is linked to sensory changes in older adults, which affects their quality of life and can lead to disabilities. Currently, around 50 million people suffer from sensory impairments, a figure that is expected to increase to 82 million by 2030. These impairments include problems in the five senses (vision, hearing, taste, smell and touch), which are essential for perception and interaction with the environment. To improve the quality of life of older adults and their caregivers, it is crucial to implement comprehensive health policies that address these sensory problems. This also involves empowering people to reduce risk factors such as diabetes and cardiovascular disease. The World Health Organization (WHO) offers programs to assess and reduce sensory and cognitive impairment in the elderly. Alcohol and tobacco use can aggravate sensory and memory problems, negatively affecting quality of life. Family caregivers play a critical role in the well-being of older adults with sensory impairment. It is vital to understand how these impairments impact their daily lives and to assess their sensory, mental and motor abilities to prevent falls and improve their quality of life. A recent study revealed that sensory impairments, especially in vision and hearing, have a major impact on the quality of life of older adults. Decreased vision can predict cognitive changes, and sensory impairments are associated with an increased risk of dementia. These impairments also affect independence, well-being and social interactions. Dysfunction of the sense of smell is related to cognitive and sensory impairment, affecting memory and verbal fluency, and may be an early indicator of dementia, also influencing nutrition and daily activities. Factors such as low schooling, declining physical performance and lack of social support increase cognitive and sensory vulnerability, making the support of health professionals, family and friends crucial to manage these dysfunctions.
