summary Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate the anger expression types in nurses and to analyze the differences between the anger expression types and interpersonal problems. Methods: The data were collected from 149 nurses working in general hospitals with 300 beds or more in Seoul or Gyeonggi province, Korea. For anger expression type, the anger expression scale from the Korean State-Trait Anger Expression Inventory was used. For interpersonal problems, the short form of the Korean Inventory of Interpersonal Problems Circumplex Scales was used. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, cluster analysis, multivariate analysis of variance, and Duncan's multiple comparisons test. Results: Three anger expression types in nurses were found: low-anger expression, anger-in, and angerin/control type. From the results of multivariate analysis of variance, there were significant differences between anger expression types and interpersonal problems (Wilks lambda F ¼ 3.52, p < .001). Additionally, anger-in/control type was found to have the most difficulty with interpersonal problems by Duncan's post hoc test (p < .050). Conclusions: Based on this research, the development of an anger expression intervention program for nurses is recommended to establish the means of expressing the suppressed emotions, which would help the nurses experience less interpersonal problems.

Over 60% of participants had practiced 15 items of the 24 CNS in the basic nursing lab (BNL). In clinical practice (CP), they had practiced five items but experienced only one item in a simulation lab (SL). Items with the highest confidence level were vital signs (4.69) followed by blood sugar test (4.60), pulse oximeter (4.38), and oral medication (4.12). Items with the lowest confidence level were blood transfusion (2.17) followed by enema (2.64) and indwelling catheterization (2.67). The group with CNS experience in the practice curriculum was generally more confident than the group with no experience. Self-confidences in some skills was significantly different depending on availability of SL, credits for BNL and CP, and presence of preceptors.

Purpose: This study was performed to identify the present status of graduate nursing curriculum in Korea, so as to provide basic data for improving nursing education. Methods: In order to analyze the present nursing curriculum, data were collected from the home page of 81 nursing colleges in Korea. The subjects and credits of nursing curriculum were analyzed using descriptive statistics. Results: The total graduate credits were 137.6, credits of general education were 31.4 and nursing major courses were 96.5 credits. The credits of nursing major courses were as follows: `basic science for nursing` was 22.0 credits, `basic nursing` was 11.9 credits, `subjects having same name with nursing license examination` were 66.9 credits and `other nursing subjects` were 11.9 credits. These results showed that the credits of general education and nursing major courses were decreased while the subjects and credits related to the courses for nursing license examination have not changed compared with the past. Conclusion: Considering the change of social needs and nursing student character, it is necessary to improve the nursing curriculum. We suggest that further research to facilitate nursing curriculum development and adapting to social change should be undertaken.

summary Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate the construct equivalence of the five general factors (subjective health, eating habits, physical activities, sedentary lifestyle, and sleeping behaviors) and to compare the latent means between male and female middle school students in Incheon, Korea. Methods: The 2008 Korean Youth Risk Behavior Survey data was used for analysis. Multigroup confirmatory factor analysis was performed to test whether the scale has configural, metric, and scalar invariance across gender. Results: Configural invariance, metric invariance, and factor invariance were satisfied for latent means analysis (LMA) between genders. Male and female students were significantly different in LMA of all factors. Male students reported better subjective health, consumed more fast food and carbonated drinks, participated in more physical activities, showed less sedentary behavior, and enjoyed better quality of sleep than female students. Conclusion: Health providers should consider gender differences when they develop and deliver health promotion programs aimed at adolescents.
