The concept of the "abductive hypothesis" is applied in this work on the ancient Zenú channels in the Colombian Momposina Depression. The "abductive hypothesis" was developed after the conception of the semiologist Pearce, who stated that only" abductive thinking" leads to the creationof something genuinely new. The "abductive process" starts from a "surprising fact", and goes on, as far as setting a hypothesis, continuing next through the semiological interpretation of signs, as icons, riddles, clues, suspicions, conjectures, and ending with the statement of an "abductive hypothesis." We start from the "surprising fact" that reveals that the Zenú community during pre-Hispanic times with its great power of hydraulic management, flourished in a complex area of Colombia but then disappeared, leaving centennial footprints in the territory. This "surprising fact" is reflected in the icon represented by the monumental Zenú Channels, a great work of hydraulic engineering which abandonment meant the loss of intervention of the waters of the Momposina Depression, causing floods and droughts issues that are increasing by the climate change in our times. Along the way, we found some enigmas such as the man-habitat relationship; indications: a favorable zone for the settlement of great cultures; suspicions: high knowledge and adaptation to the territory restrictions, the area as a likely great spiritual temple, the Zenú channels as a current management alternative; conjectures: high hydraulic knowledge of the Zenúes, more manageable area with channels than without them, engineering strategy to control the current rate of floods and droughts; and therefore we arrive at the approach of an "abductive hypothesis": how the understanding of the ancient system of channels and dikes of the Zenúes, their recovery, and improvement, would mean a strategy before the climate change adaptation by allowing the control of floods and droughts?, Se aplicó la noción de hipótesis abductiva al icono de los canales ancestrales zenúes en la Depresión Momposina colombiana. La hipótesis abductiva se desarrolló desde la concepción del semiólogo Pearce, quien afirma que solo un pensamiento abductivo lleva a la creación de algo genuinamente nuevo. El proceso abductivo parte del hecho sorprendente y llega hasta plantear una hipótesis, pasando por la interpretación semiológica de signos en tanto iconos, enigmas, indicios, sospechas, conjeturas y finalmente la enunciación de la hipótesis abductiva. Se tomó como base delhecho sorprendente que revela que la comunidad zenú de épocas prehispánicas, con su gran poder de control hidráulico, floreció en una zona de humedales de Colombia, pero luego desapareció, dejando una huella centenaria en el territorio. Este hecho sorprendente se plasma en el icono que representan los canales zenúes, una gran obra de ingeniería hidráulica cuyo abandono supuso la pérdida de intervención de las aguas de la Depresión Momposina, provocando inundaciones y sequías; problemas del cambio climático en nuestros tiempos. En el camino encontramos enigmas: como la relación hombre-hábitat; indicios: zona propicia para establecimiento de grandes culturas; sospechas: alto conocimiento y adaptación al territorio, la zona como gran templo espiritual, los canales zenúes como alternativa de manejo en la actualidad; conjeturas: conocimiento hidráulico de los zenúes, zona más manejable con canales que sin ellos, estrategia de ingeniería para controlar el ritmo actual de inundaciones y sequías; y con ellos se llegó al planteamiento-hipótesis abductiva: ¿cómo la comprensión del sistema tradicional de canales y terraplenes de los zenúes, su recuperación y conservación, se traduciría en una estrategia de adaptación al cambio climático al permitir el control de inundaciones y sequías?

Aquatic, semi-aquatic plants and riparian vegetation having a wide distribution in global, regional, and local terms, in addition to a great diversity associated with such changes of geographical positionand physical-chemical conditions of the systems. This study was developed at three stations located in the headwaters of three rivers between 2018 and 2019, in El Carmen de Viboral Municipality, department of Antioquia, Colombia. Sections of 100 m along both borders of the rivers were generated for each station the most representative taxa were determined. As result, 22 individuals were categorized, in some cases, it was possible to determine even species. In general terms, studies of these kinds of communities have been rare and have been developed only for taxonomic identification, leaving aside the ecological aspects. Therefore, it is important to generate these types of studies on these plant communities so vital to the ecosystem, Las plantas acuáticas,las semiacuáticas y la vegetación riparia presentan una amplia distribución en términos globales, regionales y locales, además de una gran diversidad asociada a cambios de posición geográfica y de condiciones fisicoquímicas de los sistemas. El presente estudio se desarrolló en tres estaciones ubicadas en las cabeceras de tres ríos entre los años 2018 y 2019, en el municipio de El Carmen de Viboral, departamento de Antioquia, Colombia. Se levantaron tramos de 100 m a lo largo del río y en todo su ancho para cada estación se determinaron los taxones más representativos. Se registraron 22 taxones,yen algunos casos se logró identificar hasta especie. En términos generales el estudio de estas comunidades ha sido poco y solo se ha enmarcado en un trabajo taxonómico de identificación, dejando de lado los aspectos ecológicos de los mismos, por lo cual es importante hacer esfuerzos por generar investigación sobre este tipo de vegetación, que a su vez presta valiosos servicios ecosistémicos en términos del mantenimiento de las dinámicas propias de los ecosistemas

Hydrodynamic modelling of temperature is a tool that contributes to the management of reservoirs because it is possible to create scenarios with different conditions to predict the behavior facing the meteorological changes and the mixing processes. This work seeks to contribute elements of analysis to the functioning and identification of the external factors that dominate the thermal dynamics of a tropical reservoir of mountain. The temperature and the water level were registered in three places of the reservoir, during three campaigns of sampling. In addition, we measured the inflows and outflows to the reservoir and analyzed the climatic historical records. With this information the two-dimensional model CE QUAL-W2 archives was build, in order to simulate 3 climatic periods (dry, transition and wet) and one where El Niño is included. It is clearly demonstrated that Santa Mónica creek has a greater influence in the water extraction. The external factors like the increase of the water extraction and the climatic scenarios influence the temperature and availability of the reservoir, being El Niño scenario the most critical, where the reservoir approximately increases its temperature 3°C and the level of the water diminishes a meter. The reservoir is increasingly susceptible to the shortage of supplies and the decrease of quality in the scenes of drought with the increase of the resource demand. The model is a useful management tool of the reservoir for the future scenarios of climate change., La modelación de la temperatura contribuye a la gestión de embalses, ya que es posible crear escenarios con diferentes condiciones para predecir su respuesta ante los cambios climáticos y los procesos de mezcla. Con este trabajo se busca aportar elementos de análisis del funcionamiento e identificación de los forzantes que dominan la dinámica térmica de un embalse tropical de montaña. Se registró la temperatura y el nivel de agua en tres sitios del embalse durante tres muestreos. Además, se midieron los caudales de entrada y salida al embalse y se analizaron los registros climáticos históricos. Con esta información se construyeron los archivos de entrada del modelo bidimensional CE QUAL-W2, para simular cuatro escenarios climáticos (seco, lluvia, transición y el fenómeno El Niño). De las afluencias se evidenció que la quebrada Santa Mónica en términos hidrodinámicos ejerce su efecto hasta el sitio de captación; de otro lado, la quebrada la Nitrera presenta recirculaciones verticales que aumentan el tiempo de residencia lo que tiene consecuencias en la calidad del agua para este sector del embalse. Los resultados de este ejercicio preliminar de modelación indican que el comportamiento térmico del embalse responde de manera diferenciada según el escenario climático y la magnitud de las extracciones. Durante el fenómeno El Niño y ante un incremento del agua captada, el embalse disminuye el nivel de agua en cerca de un metro y aumenta su temperatura alrededor de 3°C en la zona central del embalse. Ante la tendencia de crecimiento del municipio, se espera mayores demandas de agua que deberán ser suplidas por el embalse, por lo que toman importancia las herramientas de modelación que apoyen la gestión ambiental y reduzcan el riesgo al desabastecimiento ante la vulnerabilidad al cambio de climático.

We present measurements of absolute cross sections for projectile ionization and electron capture for C+, N+ and Cn N+ (n=1-3) projectiles impinging on He atoms with velocity v=2.2 a.u. Single and multiple electron processes are considered, as well as projectile dissociative excitation in the case of incident molecular cations. The measurements are compared to Classical Trajectory Monte Carlo (CTMC) calculations for C+, N++He collisions in the framework of the independent electron approximation. Cn N++He systems are described by means of the independent atom and electron (IAE) model which represents the molecule as a set of independent atoms. The impact parameter probabilities for excitation, ionization and electron transfer in C, C+, N-He collisions, underlying the IAE calculations, are also obtained by means of CTMC computations. A good agreement is generally found between measured and calculated cross sections, except for anionic production of C- and C n N-. The internal energy deposit due to electron excitation in C n N+ is also calculated with the IAE/CTMC model and compared to semi-empirical estimates based on either measured dissociation branching ratios for C2N+ and C3N+ (IdBarkach et al 2018 Mol. Astrophys. 12 25) or measured fragments kinetic energy release for CN+. Objetive. This work evaluated the environmental condition of a section of the San Juan River by means of the ecological quality index (ICE), using as an indicator group the periphytic algae. Materials and methods. The method determined correlations between physicochemical and biological variables through a canonical correspondence analysis, the scores obtained were used in a standardized correlation for a weighted averages model that allowed estimating the optimum and the tolerance of each taxon. Results. The classification of the sites located in the section of the River using the ICE explained that the concentrations of dissolved solids, alkalinity and orthophosphates defined the categories of ecological status, it was identified that at higher concentrations of dissolved solids and orthophosphates and at lower concentrations of the alkalinity values of the ICE were lower, that is to say, the ecological quality of the periphytic algae decreases, this situation took place in two seasons characterized by turbid waters and anthropic intervention. In contrast, another group tended to register the contrary tendencies, a greater concentration of alkalinity and high values in the index. Conclusions. Conclusion. The index provided an objective response to evaluate in numerical form a gradient associated with the concentration of solids, nutrients and alkalinity, variables that affect the distribution of optimal values and tolerance of the periphytic algae to the physicochemical conditions evaluated by the ICE in a stretch of the San Juan River, the results suggest a progressive deterioration of the system from the headwaters to the mouth of the Cauca River., Este trabajo evaluó la condición ambiental de un tramo del Río San Juan por medio del índice de calidad ecológico (ICE) usando como grupo indicador las algas perifíticas. El método determinó un gradiente ambiental a partir de correlaciones entre variables fisicoquímicas y abundancia a través de un análisis de correspondencias canónicas, las puntuaciones obtenidas en cada punto de muestreo se utilizaron en una correlación estandarizada para un modelo de promedios ponderados (WA) que finalmente permitieron estimar el óptimo y la tolerancia de cada taxón. El agrupamiento determinó tres conjuntos, uno de ellos reunió estaciones y períodos con mayores valores medios de sólidos disueltos y ortofosfatos y menores en cuanto a la alcalinidad y ICESJ-Alg, a este grupo se asociaron la estación 2 (Quebrada la Chaparrala) y la estación 5 (Sitio Remolinos), ambos sitios se caracterizan por aguas turbias e intervención antrópica. En contraste, otro grupo tendió a registrar las tendencias contrarias, es decir, tendencia a mayores valores de la alcalinidad y el índice, características de la estación 1 (Charco corazón, sitio caracterizado por aguas claras con reducida intervención antrópica). La clasificación de los sitios ubicados en el tramo del Río usando el ICE explicó que las concentraciones de los sólidos disueltos, la alcalinidad y los ortofosfatos definieron las categorías de estado ecológico, se identificó que a mayores concentraciones de sólidos disueltos y ortofosfatos y a menores concentraciones de la alcalinidad el ICESJ-Alg es menor, es decir la calidad ecológica de las algas perifíticas disminuye. El índice brindó una respuesta objetiva y rigurosa para evaluar en forma numérica la posición de cada una de las estaciones del tramo del Río San Juan basada en la biota y variables fisicoquímicas propias del sistema.
