Abstract

The Green Management Practices (GMP) in businesses has the greatest influence on the performance of the organization. The banking sector has been seen as more proactive to support and adopt green management practices as compared to others. Nevertheless, a prior study has reported that the adoption of GMP may not secure i.e. technical default can cause data missing, indirectly may have an implication on the banking's revenues and operating efficiency. To curb the issue, the banking sector has enhanced its innovative services and products such as green loans and QR pay which are beneficial to the consumers, the environment, and the bank itself. Therefore, this study attempts to fill up this existing gap by understanding the practices of green management towards bank performance. This research is expected to create awareness of GMP towards employees to increase knowledge and reduce the negative impact on the environment. Furthermore, the result of this research will become the guidelines for the banking sector to formulate policies and advocate programs towards achieving successful GPM that will lead to sustainable environmental. Abstract

Predicting academic performance is a crucial task for educators and institutions because it enables the early identification of at-risk students and helps provide targeted interventions to improve their academic outcomes. Existing research often focuses on predicting academic performance using CGPA; less work, however, has used graduate-on-time (GOT) as a dependent variable. In this study, the objective was to (i) determine the optimal set of features that influence the predictions, (ii) construct a predictive model that predicts academic performance focusing on graduating on time (GOT). The data, obtained from the Ministry of Higher Education Graduates Tracer Study, contains information about graduated MMU students. It has 2382 entries and 95 columns, which include records of Graduate On Time (GOT), Cumulative Grade Point Average, Estimated Terms, and many more. This paper employed machine learning techniques such as Gaussian Naive Bayes, Decision Tree, Logistic Regression, Random Forest, Gradient Boosting, Stacking Ensemble methods and Multilayer Perceptron. The results showed that among all the techniques, the Ensemble method model exhibits the highest accuracy (84.03%), precision (84.86%), and recall (90.57%), as well as a f1-score of 87.62%. The Random Forest model and the Logistic Regression model both have a f1-score of 84%, which comes in second place after the strong results of the Ensemble technique. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Abstract

Dengue is an infectious disease caused by infection of dengue virus (DENV) transmitted by Aedes aegypti and Aedes albopictus. In Indonesia, dengue commonly occurs with an increasing incidence rate annually. It is known that early detection of dengue infection is one of the keys to controlling this disease outbreak. Rapid and accurate early detection to diagnose dengue can be achieved by molecular tests, one of which is through a real-time PCR method. However, real-time PCR assay for dengue developed based on Indonesian DENV sequences has not been available. Therefore, we developed in-house dengue real-time PCR (SYBR- and TaqMan-based) assays and evaluated those assays in routine clinical testing in the community. These assays target the 3′ UTR region of the four DENV serotypes and was found to be specific for DENV. The most sensitive assay was the TaqMan assay with the LOD95% of 482 copy/ml, followed by the SYBR assay with the LOD95% of 14,398 copy/ml. We recruited dengue suspected patients from three primary health care services in West Java, Indonesia to represent the community testing setting. Dengue infection was examined using the two in-house real-time PCR assays along with NS1, IgM, and IgG rapid diagnostic tests (RDT). In total, as many as 74 clinical specimens of dengue suspected patients were included in this study. Among those patients, 21 were positive for TaqMan assay, 17 were positive for SYBR assay, nine were positive for NS1 test, six were positive for both IgG and IgM tests, and 22 were positive for IgG test only. Compared with our in-house TaqMan assay, the sensitivity of NS1 test, IgM test, and IgG test were 42.86%, 14.29%, and 28.57% respectively. Among these three RDT tests, NS1 showed 100% specificity. Thus, our study confirmed that NS1 test showed high specificity, indicating that a positive result of NS1 can be confidently considered a dengue case. However, NS1, IgM, and IgG tests with RDT are not enough to diagnose a dengue case. We suggest applying the high sensitivity and specificity rRT-PCR test as the gold standard for early detection and antibody test as a follow-up test for rRT-PCR negative cases. Abstract

The origin of the German cockroach, Blattella germanica, is enigmatic, in part because it is ubiquitous worldwide in human-built structures but absent from any natural habitats. The first historical records of this species are from ca. 250 years ago (ya) from central Europe (hence its name). However, recent research suggests that the center of diversity of the genus is Asian, where its closest relatives are found. To solve this paradox, we sampled genome-wide markers of 281 cockroaches from 17 countries across six continents. We confirm that B. germanica evolved from the Asian cockroach Blattella asahinai approximately 2,100 ya, probably by adapting to human settlements in India or Myanmar. Our genomic analyses reconstructed two primary global spread routes, one older, westward route to the Middle East coinciding with various Islamic dynasties (~1,200 ya), and another younger eastward route coinciding with the European colonial period (~390 ya). While Europe was not central to the early domestication and spread of the German cockroach, European advances in long-distance transportation and temperature-controlled housing were likely important for the more recent global spread, increasing chances of successful dispersal to and establishment in new regions. The global genetic structure of German cockroaches further supports our model, as it generally aligns with geopolitical boundaries, suggesting regional bridgehead populations established following the advent of international commerce. 11. Life-history traits of Aedes aegypti(Linnaeus) distributed across a latitudinal range of 23 °N–6 °S

Abstract

The growth and associated traits of Aedes aegypti(L.) mosquitoes may adapt and evolve in response to the costs associated with body size in relation to latitudinal variation. We analyzed the life-history traits and energy reserves of field-collected mosquitoes from Taiwan, Thailand, and Indonesia along a latitudinal range spanning from 23°N to 6°S. A U-shaped relationship between body size and latitude was observed. Our study demonstrated the role of latitudinal temperature variations in determining the body size patterns of Ae. aegypti.Notably, the body size of the northern populations (from Taiwan) was significantly larger than those of the tropical populations from Thailand and Indonesia. Models have demonstrated that regional precipitation levels may contribute to body trait variations in certain high-latitude populations in Thailand. However, Indonesian populations have high development rates and large body sizes, indicating the involvement of other physiological traits in determining mosquito body size. The reproductive output of the adult females in this study was positively correlated with body size, but our measure of longevity did not covary significantly with the body size. By contrast, the reproductive output of mosquito-tested populations was in inverse proportion to longevity. Additionally, the mean teneral glycogen levels in the Indonesian and Thai populations were 2.5 times higher than those in the Taiwanese populations. The Indonesian and Thai populations had low mean generation and doubling times, resulting in a high intrinsic rate of increase compared with that of the Taiwanese populations, despite the Taiwanese populations having the highest net reproduction rate.Graphical Abstract

Phlebitis is one of the nosocomial infections related to invasive procedures. One of the most common invasive procedures in hospitals is infusion therapy. Phlebitis can cause thrombosis, which if continued, can lead to death. Purpose: The aims of this study were to determine the factors that affect the incidence of phlebitis nosocomial infection in the general hospital of Muna regency. The study design was using quantitative research with a cross-sectional study. The sample of this study was 60 inpatients who got infusion therapy and met the inclusion criteria. The sampling technique was using Proportional Random Sampling. Data were collected by direct observation method and data analysis was using a chi-square statistical test with a confident interval of 95% (alpha = 0.05). The median age of respondents was 37 (range 20 – 50) years and 31 (51.7%%) of the respondents were females. The respondent that have duration infusion less than or equal to 3 days were 39 (65%), respondent with one type of intravenous fluid was 55 (91.7%), a respondent who received antibiotic or Nonsteroidal Anti-Inflammatory Drugs (NSAID) injection therapy was 38 (63.3%), and as many as 20 (33.3%) respondents experienced phlebitis infection. The bivariate analysis showed that the factors that affect the incidence of phlebitis nosocomial infection were duration of infusion (p-value = 0.000), amount of intravenous fluids (p-value = 0.038), and injection therapy (p-value = 0.014). The duration of infusion, amount of intravenous fluid, and injection therapy affect the incidence of phlebitis nosocomial infection in the general hospital of Muna regency.

29. Investigation of Developmental Stage/Age, Gamma Irradiation Dose, and Temperature in Sterilization of Male Aedes aegypti(Diptera: Culicidae) in a Sterile Insect Technique Program

Abstract

The sterilization process using gamma irradiation is a crucial component in a program using sterile insect technique (SIT) to control Aedes aegypti. Unfortunately, there is no efficient standard protocol for sterilizing mosquitoes that can produce a high level of sterility while maintaining mating ability and longevity. Therefore, we conducted a study of the critical factors necessary to develop such a standard protocol. In this study, male Ae. aegyptipupae, as well as adults aged 1 d and 3 d, were irradiated using a Gamma-cell 220 irradiator doses of 0, 20, 40, 60, 70, 80, and 100 Gray (Gy). In addition, male Ae. aegyptiin the pupal and adult stage aged 1 d were irradiated at a dose of 70 Gy at various temperatures. Changes in emergence rates, longevity, sterility, and mating competitiveness were recorded for each combination of parameters. Results showed that an increase of irradiation dose leads to a rise of induced sterility at all developmental stages, while simultaneously reducing emergence rate, survival, and mating competitiveness. Higher temperatures resulted in increased levels of sterility, reduced longevity, and did not affect the ability to mate. This study found that an irradiation dose of 70 Gy at a temperature between 20.00 and 22.30°C administered in the pupal stage induced a high level of sterility (around 98%), while maintaining mating competitiveness and longevity.

Abstract

Brand commitment studies had gained considerable attention in today’s marketing practices. Sustaining the brand competitive advantages become challenging especially in the context of digital marketing.Development of Web 2.0 that enables interactive communication had offered a new mechanism for owner of the brand to strengthen the bond among their admirers and users via online brand community.Attitude and behavior of online brand community members can be crucial to overall brand competitive advantage.This is because brand image and reputation can be praised or tarnished just by one click from the members.Hence, owner of the brand should understand how online brand community commitment could affect overall brand performance.This study attempts to examine how brand trust and brand community commitment among online brand community will affect their brand resonance behavior namely brand referral and intention to purchase new product of the brand in the future. The study among 167 members of online brand community indicate that brand trust and brand community commitment play a significant roles in determining brand community behavior such as brand referral and intention to purchase new product.Discussion and recommendation for future research direction also were discussed in this article.

Materialisme adalah berkaitan dengan persepsi pengguna terhadap wang dan objek fizikal dan ia juga dikaitkan dengan pengguna yang bersemangat untuk memiliki objek berbentuk material.Penyelidik‐ penyelidik terdahulu cuba mengaitkan pembelian produk berjenama mewah tiruan dengan faktor materialisme pengguna dan mendapati, materialisme boleh mempengaruhi dan tidak mempengaruhi pembelian produk tiruan berjenama mewah tersebut.Walaupun penyelidik‐penyelidik terdahulu menggunakan skala materialisme yang berbeza‐beza dalam kajian mereka namun tetap gagal mendapat hasil yang konsisten dalam mengaitkan materialisme dengan keinginan membeli produk tiruan berjenama mewah.Oleh yang demikian, tidak dapat diputuskan adakah pembelian produk berjenama mewah tiruan adalah disebabkan oleh sifat materialistik pengguna. Daripada kajian lepas, didapati hasilan yang tidak konsisten ini mungkin disebabkan oleh bagaimana materialisme itu dikonseptualkan. Hal ini kerana scholar yang berbeza mengkonseptual materialisme dengan cara yang berbeza. Hasil dapatan yang tidak konsisten juga didakwa dipengaruhi oleh skala pengukuran yang digunakan. Selain itu, terdapat juga penyelidik yang mendakwa hasil dapatan yang tidak konsisten mungkin disebabkan oleh latar belakang budaya yangberbeza bagi sesuatu masyarakat di sesebuah negara yang dikaji, tahap pendapatan pengguna, atau penggunaan skala ‘materialisme’ yang sebenarnya mengukur tahap materialistik pengguna ke atas produk berjenama asli dan bukannya produk tiruan.Penyelidik mendakwa, ‘roh’ produk tiruan adalah tetap produk tiruan dan tidakakan sama dengan ‘roh’ produk asli.Maka pengguna produk tiruan sebenarnya tidak boleh dianggap sebagai seorang yang materialistik kerana mereka tahu setakat mana kemampuan mereka dan apa yang sebenarnya mereka miliki. Nusantara Bioscience 2: 48-53. To determine the relationship of Cu exposure in water to the freshwater mussel exposure experiment is conducted with water containing Cu. Which measured the influence of Cu and protein content in the body shell. This study used the freshwater mussel species, Anodonta woodiana. Oysters were exposed for four weeks in the water with Cu concentration of 0.02 ppm, 0.04 ppm, 0.06 ppm, and 0.00 ppm control. Cu content and protein content in the body shells are checked every week. Cu analysis was done by Atomic absorption spectroscopy (AAS) method and the protein content using Kjeldahl method. Cu analysis showed elevated levels of Cu in mussel body after exposure. The pattern of increase in Cu content was not the same, where the pattern of the largest increases occurred after the fourth week. The statistical test showed no significant effect between the treatment with Cu accumulation in the body shell. Protein analysis showed an increase of protein content after exposure of the second week and decreased after the third and fourth weeks. The pattern of changes in protein content varied among the various treatments. The statistical test showed no significant effect between treatment with the protein changes in the body shell. Correlation test of the relationship between concentration of Cu in mussel body protein level showed a positive correlation between them with a fairly good level of relationship (correlation coefficient r = 0.836).

In line with social media development, the online brand community becomes an alternative media that could contribute to overall brand success or vice versa.Among others, the online brand community could significantly affect brand evangelism behaviors.This study attempts to extend the understanding on how members’ brand community commitment influences brand evangelism which is considered as an extra-role behavior from the members.The study among 167 members of the online brand communities revealed that brand evangelism is explained by the uni dimensional construct.The result indicates that trust towards the online brand community and brand community commitment significantly affect brand evangelism.Implication and future research direction are also highlighted at the end of this article.

In todays’ digital age, the way consumer interacts with other consumers as well as organization had changed dramatically. Benefited from social media development, online brand community had recognized as powerful alternative media that could contribute to overall brand success.Among others, online brand community could significantly affect brand evangelism or brand referral behaviors. As previous studies attempt to examine how members of online brand community commitment determine their brand satisfaction, loyalty and repurchase intention, this study attempts to extend the understanding on how members’ brand community commitment influenced brand evangelism. This study conceptualized brand evangelism into two constructs namely positive brand referral and oppositional brand referral.Beside, brand congruity also plays a crucial role in building brand community commitment.The study among 138 members of online brand communities revealed that brand congruity has a significant relationship on brand community commitment and brand evangelism dominated by positive brand referral.Brand community commitment also found to partially mediate the relationship of brand congruity and brand evangelism.Implication and future research direction also were highlighted at the end of this article.

Abstract

Research on the effect of B. thuringiensis sublethal infection to the chance of H. armigera to resurgence has been conducted. Third instar insects were used and the concentration applied were 0 ppm, 150 ppm, 300 ppm, 450 ppm and 600 ppm. The result showed that along with the increase of B. thuringiensis infection, the number and the viability of the eggs production declined. In addition, the weight difference between the 3rd and the 4th instar became higher however between the 4th and the 5th became lower, moreover, the weight of female imago decreased, the life longevity of male and female imago were shorter and longer, respectively, along with the increase of B. thuringiensis infection. Abstract

The purpose of this paper is to developa conceptual framework which describes the influence of CRM Organization and Knowledge Management on Employee Job Satisfaction and Intention to Quitin call center industry.Researchers have established turnover of employees as highly detrimental to organizational performance and success and the major determinant in job satisfaction.Extant literatures also suggested that organizations can attenuate turnover rate through the improvement of employee job satisfaction when workers expectations and needs are met as this would positively affect performance, service quality, customer satisfaction and loyalty and competitive advantage.The integration of CRM Organization and Knowledge Management into firms operations and management practices can be the major influence. This paper conceptualized the model that could help in establishing the influence of these two variables on employee job satisfaction and intention to quit within a call center industry. Also, it shall avail call centers management to focus on the best ways to resolve turnover of employees, improve employee job satisfaction and employee performance in the call center.

The loss of ‘educere’ in the nature of its sacredness within human well beings should be a concern to everybody. In today’s needs to improve, stabilize and enhance the well-beings of individuals or insan, family and the society at large, the real concept of ‘educere’ and its landscape needs vital attention.In the life of insan, learning takes different forms depending on the surrounding and the situation including the process of informal learning which exceeds formal studies. Enhancing and incorporating values and skills in the process of learning are required in addressing the ever changing and challenging psychosocial issues within society. Education needs the map of ‘educere’ and the true practice of learning process.This paper will highlights the sacredness of ‘educere’ and its map of knowledge, the true concept of learning, the process of spiritual cleansing towards seeding the adab and a return to fitrah as insan. The authors suggesting that all elements will lead to the acceptance of real understanding of knowledge in order to mould, improve and enhance the well-beings from the beginnings in today’s rampant and challenging psychosocial issues surrounding world life.

Pengeluaran dan penjualan produk tiruan merupakan satu isu yang tiada akhirnya dan mejadi masalah yang semakin serius di pasaran antarabangsa amnya dan pasaran Malaysia khususnya.Permasalahan utama berkaitan produk tiruan membabitkan pelbagai aspek iaitu kepada pengguna (kesihatan dan keselamatan), kesannya kepada pemegang IPR ( ekuiti jenama dan kehilangan volum jualan), ekonomi/kerajaan (kehilangan cukai dan isu integriti), pengeluar produk tiruan (risiko perundangan), serta aspek sosial (kehilangan kerja).Peniruan produk di pasaran begitu ketara apabila membabitkan produk berjenama mewah terutamanya bagi kategori produk fesyen daripada jenama-jenama terkenal. The present invention discloses an extract of palm leaf and a composition containing the same as an effective ingredient for the prevention and treatment of osteoporosis. In an embodiment, the composition further includes a seaweed extract. The composition disclosed herein possesses synergistic activities of promoting bone mineral and/or calcium density, as well as arterial integrity and homeostasis in mammals, so that the composition can be effectively used for the prevention and treatment of osteoporosis.
