This paper presents a comparative study of sampling methods within the FedHome framework, designed for personalized in-home health monitoring. FedHome leverages federated learning (FL) and generative convolutional autoencoders (GCAE) to train models on decentralized edge devices while prioritizing data privacy. A notable challenge in this domain is the class imbalance in health data, where critical events such as falls are underrepresented, adversely affecting model performance. To address this, the research evaluates six oversampling techniques using Stratified K-fold cross-validation: SMOTE, Borderline-SMOTE, Random OverSampler, SMOTE-Tomek, SVM-SMOTE, and SMOTE-ENN. These methods are tested on FedHome's public implementation over 200 training rounds with and without stratified K-fold cross-validation. The findings indicate that SMOTE-ENN achieves the most consistent test accuracy, with a standard deviation range of 0.0167-0.0176, demonstrating stable performance compared to other samplers. In contrast, SMOTE and SVM-SMOTE exhibit higher variability in performance, as reflected by their wider standard deviation ranges of 0.0157-0.0180 and 0.0155-0.0180, respectively. Similarly, the Random OverSampler method shows a significant deviation range of 0.0155-0.0176. SMOTE-Tomek, with a deviation range of 0.0160-0.0175, also shows greater stability but not as much as SMOTE-ENN. Tunnel-coupled pairs of optically active quantum dots - quantum dot molecules (QDMs) - offer the possibility to combine excellent optical properties such as strong light-matter coupling with two-spin singlet-triplet ($S-T_0$) qubits having extended coherence times. The $S-T_0$ basis formed using two spins is inherently protected against electric and magnetic field noise. However, since a single gate voltage is typically used to stabilize the charge occupancy of the dots and control the inter-dot orbital couplings, operation of the $S-T_0$ qubits under optimal conditions remains challenging. Here, we present an electric field tunable QDM that can be optically charged with one (1h) or two holes (2h) on demand. We perform a four-phase optical and electric field control sequence that facilitates the sequential preparation of the 2h charge state and subsequently allows flexible control of the inter-dot coupling. Charges are loaded via optical pumping and electron tunnel ionization. We achieve one- and two-hole charging efficiencies of 93.5 $\pm$ 0.8 % and 80.5 $\pm$ 1.3 %, respectively. Combining efficient charge state preparation and precise setting of inter-dot coupling allows control of few-spin qubits, as would be required for on-demand generation of two-dimensional photonic cluster states or quantum transduction between microwaves and photons., Comment: 4 figures

The advent of quantum technologies brought forward much attention to the theoretical characterization of the computational resources they provide. A method to quantify quantum resources is to use a class of functions called magic monotones and stabilizer entropies, which are, however, notoriously hard and impractical to evaluate for large system sizes. In recent studies, a fundamental connection between information scrambling, the magic monotone mana and 2-Renyi stabilizer entropy was established. This connection simplified magic monotone calculation, but this class of methods still suffers from exponential scaling with respect to the number of qubits. In this work, we establish a way to sample an out-of-time-order correlator that approximates magic monotones and 2-Renyi stabilizer entropy. We numerically show the relation of these sampled correlators to different non-stabilizerness measures for both qubit and qutrit systems and provide an analytical relation to 2-Renyi stabilizer entropy. The new emerging non-volatile memory (NVM) devices known as memristors could be the promising candidate for future digital architecture, owing to their nanoscale size and its ability to integrate with the exciting CMOS technology. In this paper, a combination of memristor devices and CMOS transistors are working together to form a hybrid CMOS-memristor circuit for XAX- Module, a core element for the finite field multiplier. The proposed design was implemented using Pt /TaOx/Ta memristor device and simulated in Cadence Virtuoso. The simulation results demonstrate the design functionality. Global quantum secure communication can be achieved using quantum key distribution (QKD) with orbiting satellites. Established techniques use attenuated lasers as weak coherent pulse (WCP) sources, with so-called decoy-state protocols, to generate the required single-photon-level pulses. While such approaches are elegant, they come at the expense of attainable final key due to inherent multi-photon emission, thereby constraining secure key generation over the high-loss, noisy channels expected for satellite transmissions. In this work we improve on this limitation by using true single-photon pulses generated from a semiconductor quantum dot (QD) embedded in a nanowire, possessing low multi-photon emission ($<10^{-6}$) and an extraction system efficiency of -15 dB (or 3.1%). Despite the limited efficiency, the key generated by the QD source is greater than that generated by a WCP source under identical repetition rate and link conditions representative of a satellite pass. We predict that with realistic improvements of the QD extraction efficiency to -4.0 dB (or 40%), the quantum-dot QKD protocol outperforms WCP-decoy-state QKD by almost an order of magnitude. Consequently, a QD source could allow generation of a secure key in conditions where a WCP source would simply fail, such as in the case of high channel losses. Entangled photon sources are crucial for quantum optics, quantum sensing and quantum communication. Semiconductor quantum dots generate on-demand entangled photon pairs via the biexciton-exciton cascade. However, the pair of photons are emitted isotropically in all directions, thus limiting the collection efficiency to a fraction of a percent. Moreover, strain and structural asymmetry in quantum dots lift the degeneracy of the intermediate exciton states in the cascade, thus degrading the measured entanglement fidelity. Here, we propose an approach for generating a pair of entangled photons from a semiconductor quantum dot by application of a quadrupole electrostatic potential. We show that the quadrupole electric field corrects for the spatial asymmetry of the excitonic wavefunction for any quantum dot dipole orientation and fully erases the fine-structure splitting without compromising the spatial overlap between electrons and holes. Our approach is compatible with nanophotonic structures such as microcavities and nanowires, thus paving the way towards a deterministic source of entangled photons with high fidelity and collection efficiency.

Benchmarks and datasets have important role in evaluation of machine learning algorithms and neural network implementations. Traditional dataset for images such as MNIST is applied to evaluate efficiency of different training algorithms in neural networks. This demand is different in Spiking Neural Networks (SNN) as they require spiking inputs. It is widely believed, in the biological cortex the timing of spikes is irregular. Poisson distributions provide adequate descriptions of the irregularity in generating appropriate spikes. Here, we introduce a spike-based version of MNSIT (handwritten digits dataset),using Poisson distribution and show the Poissonian property of the generated streams. We introduce a new version of evt_MNIST which can be used for neural network evaluation.

Recently memristor-based applications and circuits are receiving an increased attention. Furthermore, memristors are also applied in logic circuit design. Material implication logic is one of the main areas with memristors. In this paper an optimized memristor-based full adder design by material implication logic is presented. This design needs 27 memristors and less area in comparison with typical CMOS-based 8-bit full adders. There has been a strong push recently to examine biological scale simulations of neuromorphic algorithms to achieve stronger inference capabilities. This paper presents a set of piecewise linear spiking neuron models, which can reproduce different behaviors, similar to the biological neuron, both for a single neuron as well as a network of neurons. The proposed models are investigated, in terms of digital implementation feasibility and costs, targeting large scale hardware implementation. Hardware synthesis and physical implementations on FPGA show that the proposed models can produce precise neural behaviors with higher performance and considerably lower implementation costs compared with the original model. Accordingly, a compact structure of the models which can be trained with supervised and unsupervised learning algorithms has been developed.
