With or without pandemics, successful knowledge transfers and instilment of critical thinking in learners are strategic to teaching delivery. To revolutionize teaching practice and profession, the specific needs of every group of learners (such as gifted and talented, depressed, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder students, minority ethnic pupils, and low attaining) must be met. Therefore, a new paradigm that employs the right teaching styles for the right student at the right time should be adopted. A plethora of research has shown that enhanced understanding, retention, and critical thinking are better promoted in active learning strategies as compared to conventional passive learning. On the other hand, students' critical thinking is most effectively enhanced by instructional approaches that incorporate constructivist, active-learning, and student-centered philosophies, in addition to other concepts like biosocial, psychological, psychosocial, emotional, motivational, and sociocultural perspectives. The execution of such a holistic perspective would inevitably require concerted efforts from all relevant key players and stakeholders.

Significance: The CuO, Al2O3, and TiO2 nanoparticles find extensive applications in advanced chemical reaction-based thermal transport and quadratic convective nanofluids due to their exceptional thermal properties and chemical stability. Increased thermal conductivity of these nanoparticles used to enhance heat transfer in various chemical reactors, resistance to chemical degradation and photocatalytic reactors and solar energy applications. Motive: This study brings the investigation about quadratic convection-based thermal transport to infinite shear rate for magnetized ternary radiative cross nanofluid with homogeneous-heterogeneous chemical reactions. Water is taken as base fluid and three nanoparticles are Copper oxide (CuO), aluminium oxide (Al2O3), and titanium dioxide (TiO2). Heat transport analysis is made through quadratic convection, magnetic field and thermal radiation. Concentration of nanofluid is scrutinized though homogeneous-heterogeneous chemical reactions. Method: ology: Physical problem with assumptions generates the system of partial differential equations (PDEs) and these PDEs are transformed into ordinary differential equations (ODEs) through similarity variables. Furthermore, a unique combination of Bvp4c and Levenberg Marquardt neural network (LM-NN) schemes is utilized to fetch the numerical solutions. Bvp4c is utilized to solve the governing equations, while LM-NN serves to enhance predictive capabilities and capture intricate nonlinear relationships. Findings: Magnetic environment, chemical process, radiations effects and volumetric fraction of nanoparticles make better heat transfer efficiency and control.

Ternary hybrid nanofluids possess several potential applications in the modern science beyond just the heat transfer efficiency. A continuous research and advancements on binary and ternary hybrid nanofluids might lead towards new developments in many technological and scientific zones. Ongoing research interprets and distinguishes the novel attributes of the sodium alginate (Na.C6H7O6) based unary, binary and ternary nanofluids through a porous medium under induced magnetic field environment. The nano-composition of single-wall carbon nanotubes (SWCNT) with silver (Ag) and molybdenum dioxide (MoS2) gives rise to the binary (SWCNT-Ag/Na.C6H7O6) and ternary hybrid (SWCNT-Ag-MoS2/Na.C6H7O6) nanofluids respectively. A complex and highly nonlinear system of differential equations, obtained via the boundary layer approximations, is tackled numerically. An algorithmic approach, using MATLAB software, is incorporated to determine the iterative solutions. The efficiency as well as validity of the developed algorithm is confirmed by equating the results with the previous ones. The results evidently portray the fact that the magnetic Prandtl number and magnetic interaction parameter not only dissuade the induced magnetic field but also resist the fluids’ speed. With the larger values of activation energy parameter, higher will be the concentration of fluid.

In the current article, we establish the existence and uniqueness of solutions to the initial value problem for nonlinear implicit fractional differential equations with non-instantaneous impulses, including the Caputo-Fabrizio fractional derivative. This derivative encapsulates non-local and memory-dependent effects in the system's behavior. The problem's complexity arises from its implicit nature, where the relationships between variables are not directly specified. This inherent intricacy is further compounded by the introduction of non-instantaneous impulses, signifying abrupt, intermittent changes within the system at specific junctures, which in turn trigger sudden transitions. At its core, the initial value problem is concerned with deciphering a system's behavior based on its initial conditions, necessitating a solution that adheres to the given equation while considering the presence of non-instantaneous impulses. To derive the existence results, the study leverages established mathematical tools, specifically, the standard Banach's fixed point theorem and Darbo's fixed point theorem connected to Kuratowski's measure of noncompactness (KMN). Furthermore, the Hyers-Ulam stability (HU-stability) of the given problem is discussed, which, in turn, enhances the utility and reliability of these solutions in practical applications. In order to demonstrate the applicability of the discovered results for various values of δ, we construct some examples towards the end. The practical implications of these results extend to a wide range of fields, offering improved modeling, control, and understanding of complex systems.

This study investigated Undergraduates' Attitude towards the utilization of OER [Open Educational Resources] among Undergraduates and the influence of gender and area of specialization on their attitude towards the use. The study adopted a descriptive method of the quantitative research. 3 research questions were developed and answered. 398 respondents were randomly sampled from 3 purposively selected area of specializations. Frequency counts, percentage, rank order and mean were used to answer research questions 1 to 3. The findings of the study were: Undergraduates have a positive attitude towards utilization of OER for learning; There was difference between male and female undergraduates' attitude towards the utilization of OER for learning in favor of male undergraduates; and There were no significance differences among undergraduates based on Area of Specialization. The study concluded that students have a positive attitude towards use of OER for learning. The research recommends that institutions should endeavor to create their own OERs where students can access anytime and anywhere.

In this investigation, we develop a theory for the hybrid boundary value problem for fractional differential equations subject to three-point boundary conditions, including the antiperiodic hybrid boundary condition. On suggested problems, the third-order Caputo–Fabrizio derivative is the fractional operator applied. In this regard, the corresponding hybrid fractional integral equation is obtained by the Caputo–Fabrizio operator’s properties with the Green function’s aid. Then, we apply Dhage’s nonlinear alternative to the Schaefer type to prove the existence results. Finally, two examples are provided to confirm the validity of our main results.

Sustainable food production, among other non-intensive production systems, involves the important interactions of myriads of plant growth-promoting microorganisms, plant, soil, soil fauna, and production of utilizable carbon in the rhizosphere capable of enhancing soil health, plant growth, and protection that lead to increased crop productivity. Plant growth-promoting rhizobacteria (PGPR) including symbiotic rhizobia and free-living rhizobacteria possess traits that help to enhance plant growth due to their many modes of action that start with the ability to colonize both the intracellular and extracellular rhizosphere niche in their search for a carbon source and reduction in the free use and quantity of agrochemicals. In the past few decades, the focus on developing biosafety agro-products has shifted from agrochemical-based applications to a more sustainable system without posing negative impacts on the soil microflora or fauna. The present review focuses on the application of PGPR inoculants on soils and seeds to improve biological nitrogen fixation, solubilization of phosphate, and secretion of phytohormones required for growth, especially application in a pressured environment. We discuss how PGPR enhances nutritional regulation and hormonal balance in plants, bacterial taxa enrichment, and improvement of carbon sources utilization beneficial for plant growth. We highlight the antagonistic and synergistic interactions with microorganisms within the rhizosphere and beyond in bulk soil which indirectly boosts plant growth rate and induces resistance against phytopathogens. While soil-borne pathogens continually oppose the functions of these microorganisms, PGPR has improved diverse strategies in the form of agro-compatibility, root colonization, nutrient, iron, and space competition, systemic resistance, antibiotics synthesis, lytic acid, hydrogen cyanide, and siderophore production for advanced food production. Finally, we highlighted the roles of PGPR in phytoremediation, techniques of applying microbial inoculants to enhance plant growth and commercialization of PGPR products and the challenges developing countries have to defeat.

The utilization of time-fractional PDEs in diverse fields within science and technology has attracted significant interest from researchers. This paper presents a relatively new numerical approach aimed at solving two-term time-fractional PDE models in two and three dimensions. We combined the Liouville–Caputo fractional derivative scheme with the Strang splitting algorithm for the temporal component and employed a meshless technique for spatial derivatives utilizing Lucas and Fibonacci polynomials. The rising demand for meshless methods stems from their inherent mesh-free nature and suitability for higher dimensions. Moreover, this approach demonstrates the effective approximation of solutions across both regular and irregular domains. Error norms were used to assess the accuracy of the methodology across both regular and irregular domains. A comparative analysis was conducted between the exact solution and alternative numerical methods found in the contemporary literature. The findings demonstrate that our proposed approach exhibited better performance while demanding fewer computational resources.

Abstract Gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) is a common complication of pregnancy that has been associated with an increased risk of obesity and diabetes in the offspring. Pregnancy is accompanied by tightly regulated changes in the endocrine, metabolic, immune, and microbial systems, and deviations from these changes can alter the mother’s metabolism resulting in adverse pregnancy outcomes and a negative impact on the health of her infant. Maternal microbiomes are significant drivers of mother and child health outcomes, and many microbial metabolites are likely to influence the host health. This review discusses the current understanding of how the microbiota and microbial metabolites may contribute to the development of GDM and how GDM-associated changes in the maternal microbiome can affect infant’s health. We also describe microbiota-based interventions that aim to improve metabolic health and outline future directions for precision medicine research in this emerging field.

The phenomenon known as the Jeffrey-Hemal flow has become significantly important in diverse engineering and biological fields due to its use in the transportation of nanofluids across converging and diverging channels. The authors' current efforts are driven by the interdisciplinary development and study in this field. This research aims to examine the behavior of magnetized nanofluids as they flow through converging and diverging channels, taking into account the impact of a thermally balanced Darcy-Forchheimer permeable medium. The nanofluids are composed of copper oxide (CuO) and water. The second law of thermodynamics is used to formulate the concept of entropy generation. Channels are susceptible to the effects of Joule heating and solar radiation. The fundamental equations are converted from partial differential equations (PDEs) to ordinary differential equations (ODEs) by using suitable variables. The bvp4c scheming, an integrated MATLAB command, has been used for computational modeling. Graphical representations depict the impact of physical factors on velocity, entropy, and temperature. Furthermore, the influence of several factors on the Nusselt number is shown and analyzed. The findings demonstrate a positive correlation between temperature and greater Darcy and inertia values in converging/diverging channels, whereas the reverse trend is found in the case of divergent channels.

Background: Alignment of the cervical spine is a critical consideration when performing cervical spinal surgery. Aim: The intent of this study was to look at the manner in which cervical spine configuration alters with age in those with no symptoms, and to figure out whether or not a cervical vertebral column configuration is gender related. Methods: One hundred asymptomatic subjects (54 males and 46 females) aged 16–85 years were divided into 4 age groups as follows (Groups A: ≤20; B: 21–40; C: 41–60; and D: ≥60). The following variables were measured on magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) images – thoracic inlet angle (TIA), neck tilt (NT), and thoracic 1 slope (T1S) after the included subjects underwent MRI of the cervical region. The Tukey's test was applied for statistical analysis amongst age groups, whereas the t-test was used for gender differences within the same age group. Results: The TIA in Group A was statistically significant versus Groups C and D, as P = 0.007 and P = 0.000, respectively. NT concerning category A was statistically significant versus categories B, C, and D (P < 0.05). TIA was statistically insignificant amongst the groups (P > 0.05). Among each age category, there was insignificant variation in cervical spine alignment across genders (P > 0.05). Conclusion: TIA and NT alterations were associated with the aging process, whereas no cervical spine change was noted in the T1S with age.

Background: Hernias are repeatedly encountered in surgical clinics owing to risks such as constipation, weightlifting, gestation, weight gain, and ongoing ailments similar to bronchial asthma and prostatic enlargement. The study intended to examine various viewpoints of the population's knowledge and beliefs concerning hernia and its management. Methods: Individuals in this cross-sectional study were randomly picked from those at greater risk of acquiring abdominal wall hernias (AWHs). To report their awareness levels toward AWH, the data were calculated as frequency, expressed as a percentage, and displayed as tables and figures. Results: Eighty-six percent of the patients did not have a hernia during the study, but all had experienced hernias before the study date. About 36.9% of participants showed a poor level of knowledge regarding AWHs. Participants' knowledge was notably correlated with gender, age, marital status, previous abdominal surgery, presence of interfamilial hernias, and having asthma or chronic cough (P < 0.05). According to 55% of respondents, pain and discomfort after an operation are the most prevalent complications, while 15.1% reported no postoperative complications. According to 41.4% of respondents, laparoscopic surgery was the best treatment option, followed by open surgery and lifestyle modifications in 28% and 24.8%, respectively. Conclusion: Compared to females, males were more likely to suffer from AWHs. Hernia's risk factors, management methods, and surgical complications were not well understood by participants. This may entail holding seminars to raise awareness of AWHs among the community members.

BACKGROUND: Bacillus thuringiensis (Bt) is a Gram‐positive bacterium that produces various insecticidal proteins used to control insect pests. Spodoptera frugiperda is a global insect pest which causes serious damage to crops, but bio‐insecticides currently available to control this pest have limited activity and so new ones are always being sought. In this study we have tested the hypothesis that a biomarker for strain toxicity could be found that would greatly facilitate the identification of new potential products. RESULTS: Using genomic sequencing data we constructed a linkage network of insecticidal genes from 1957 Bt genomes and found that four gene families, namely cry1A, cry1I, cry2A and vip3A, showed strong linkage. For 95 strains isolated from soil samples we assayed them for toxicity towards S. frugiperda and for the presence of the above gene families. All of the strains that showed high toxicity also contained a member of the vip3A gene family. Two of them were more toxic than a commercially available strain and genomic sequencing identified a number of potentially novel toxin‐encoding genes. CONCLUSIONS: The presence of a vip3A gene in the genome of a Bt strain proved to be a strong indicator of toxicity towards S. frugiperda validating this biomarker approach as a strategy for future discovery programs. © 2024 Society of Chemical Industry. Introduction: Ilioinguinal nerve (IIN) is repeatedly damaged during surgeries as well as through the application of local anaesthesia to the lower abdominal wall. This study aimed to identify the variations of the IIN during its course in the anterior abdominal wall. Materials and Methods: A cross-sectional study on formalin-preserved cadavers was carried out after approval by the ethical committee, Alzaeim Alazhari University (January 2018–May 2020). Cadavers satisfied the inclusion criteria were dissected bilaterally to expose and map the IINs from their lateral emergence on the anterior abdominal wall to their termination in the midline in reference to the internal and external inguinal rings as well as the fixed bony landmarks. The collected data were compared on both sides using SPSS version 21.0. Results: Fifty-four IINs were identified (77 cadavers). Double nerve was observed in 8.44%. IINs derived from L1, L1-3 and L3 in 98.1%, 1.3% and 0.6%, respectively. On the right side, in 3 corpses, the nerves aberrantly ascend from L3 or L1-3, whereas this deviant was not seen on the left side. The mean distance from the umbilicus was 9.2 cm ± 1.1 cm (equal on both sides). The mean distance from the deep ring was 1.5 cm ± 0.4 cm, it was closed on the right compared to the left (P = 0.87). It emerges 0.9 cm–6 cm from the anterior superior iliac spine, this was closed on the right than the left (P = 0.9). It was not attached to the external oblique muscle on the right side, whereas it did in 3.2% on the left (P = 0.03). The mean distance from the superficial ring was 1.9 cm ± 0.8 cm, almost the same on both sides. The mean distance from the inguinal ligament was 2.4 cm ± 0.5 cm, it was closed on the right than on the left (P = 0.98). Its mean thickness was 1.97 mm ± 0.44 mm and 1.88 mm ± 0.43 mm on the right and left sides, respectively. Conclusion: IIN demarcates variants not generally quoted in anatomical manuals.

In this work, we consider a coupled nonlinear viscoelastic Kirchhoff equations with degenerate damping, dispersion and source terms. Under suitable hypothesis, we will prove that when the initial data are large enough (in the energy point of view), the energy grows exponentially and thus so the L2(p+2)-norm.

In this paper, we investigate new types of nonlocal implicit problems involving piecewise Caputo fractional operators. The existence and uniqueness results are proved by using some fixed point theorems. Furthermore, we present analogous results involving piecewise Caputo-Fabrizio and Atangana–Baleanu fractional operators. The ensuring of the existence of solutions is shown by Ulam-Hyer’s stability. At last, two examples are given to show and approve our outcomes.

Abstract In this work, we consider a quasilinear system of viscoelastic equations with degenerate damping and general source terms. According to some suitable hypothesis, we study the blow-up of solutions. This is the general case of the recent results of Boulaaras’ works (Bull. Malays. Math. Sci. Soc. 43:725–755, 2020) and (Appl. Anal. 99:1724–1748, 2020).

Abstract In this article, we aim to investigate various formulae for the ( p , k ) $(p,k)$ -analogues of Gauss hypergeometric functions, including the integral transforms and the operators of fractional calculus. All the outcomes presented here are of general attractiveness and can yield a number of previous works as special cases.

South African soils generally lack native Bradyrhizobium strains that nodulate and fix atmospheric nitrogen (N2) in soybeans (Glycine max L.). It is therefore very important to inoculate soybeans with products that contain effective Bradyrhizobium strains as active ingredients. In this study, a field experiment was conducted on two bioclimatic zones in South Africa during the 2019/2020 season to assess the effect of Bradyrhizobium japonicum strain WB74 inoculant formulation on nitrogen fixation, growth and yield improvement in soybeans. The first bioclimatic zone was characterized by a sandy clay loam soil, whereas the second bioclimatic zone has a sandy loam soil. The results showed that inoculation of soybeans with both peat and liquid formulations of Bradyrhizobium japonicum WB74 increased nitrogen uptake, which resulted in yield increase. The amount of N fixed was measured as 15N isotopes and increased with all treatments compared to the uninoculated control in both liquid and peat inoculant formulations. In bioclimatic zone A, slightly better results were obtained using the liquid formulation (1.79 t ha−1 for liquid compared to 1.75 t ha−1 for peat treatments), while peat formulations performed better in bioclimatic zone B (1.75 t ha−1 for peat compared to 1.71 t ha−1 for liquid treatments). In both areas higher yields were obtained with the formulations used in this study compared to the registered standards (treatment T3). The findings in this study provide vital information in the development and application of formulated microbial inoculants for sustainable agriculture in South Africa.
