This study aims to develop a comprehensive model of destination loyalty that considers domestic visitors. It examines the relationship between perceived value, cognitive and affective destination images, perceived satisfaction, and destination loyalty. The model was validated using structural equation modeling and confirmatory factor analysis. The study was conducted in Coxs'Bazar, the most popular tourist destination among domestic travelers. Results showed that domestic tourists' perceived affective destination image directly impacts their perceived value and destination loyalty. However, cognitive destination image did not affect loyalty but directly impacted their perceived value. Satisfaction mediates perceived value and destination loyalty, and cognitive destination image and destination loyalty are also influenced by perceived value. The study used the S-O-R theory to create a domestic destination loyalty model, clarifying the mediating roles that perceived value and satisfaction play. The research also revealed the cognitive and affective destination images of domestic visitors in a developing nation. Understanding these habits and preferences can help promote domestic tourism and aid destination marketing managers in developing effective strategic plans.

* Context.--Wide adoption of digital pathology requires efficient visualization and navigation in Web-based digital slide viewers, which is poorly defined. Objective.--To define and quantify relevant performance metrics for efficient visualization of cases and slides in digital slide viewers. Design.--With a universal slide viewer used in clinical routine diagnostics, we evaluated the impact of slide caching, compression type, tile, and block size of whole slide images generated from Philips, Leica, and 3DHistech scanners on streaming performance on case, slide, and field of view levels. Results.--Two hundred thirty-nine pathologists routinely reviewed 60 080 whole slide images over 3 months. The median time to open a case's slides from the laboratory information system was less than 4 seconds, the time to change to a slide within the case was less than 1 second, and the time to render the adjacent field of view when navigating the slide was less than one-quarter of a second. A whole slide image's block size and a viewer tile size of 1024 pixels showed best performance to display a field of view and was preferrable over smaller tiles due to fewer mosaic effects. For Philips, fastest median slide streaming pace was 238 ms per field of view and for 3DHistech, 125 ms. For Leica, the fastest pace of 108 ms per field of view was established with block serving without decompression. Conclusions.--This is the first study to systematically assess user-centric slide visualization performance metrics for digital viewers, including time to open a case, time to change a slide, and time to change a field of view. The 400-year history of Dhaka says that the city once had several well-known natural canals (khals) that drained stormwater and graywater. In addition to city’s combined sewer system, these water bodies offered an essential natural drainage system that allowed to manage the monsoon rainfall effectively. However, over the past three decades, due to rapid urbanization, these khals have significantly depleted to the point where they are no longer capable of draining the city’s monsoon runoff. Using past, present, and future Land Use and Land Cover (LULC) and urban drainage modeling, this study identified the effects of such LULC change on pluvial flooding of the northern part of the city. Analysis shows that the rapid and extensive changes in LULC over the past decades have resulted in significant shrinkage of these khals, consequently leading to escalated rates of urban flooding in this region. The western part of Turag thana, low-lying areas close to the Baunia Khal depression, and the upstream region of Abdullahpur Khal are highly vulnerable to future urban floods. The projected LULC change indicates an increase of 8.47%, 8.11%, and 4.05% in the total inundation area by 2042 for rainfall events with return periods of 50 years, 25 years, and 2.33 years, respectively. The findings also indicate that 11% more area is likely to experience long-duration flooding due to LULC change.

The pre-construction phase of public infrastructure projects is characterized by significant uncertainty as crucial decisions are made with limited information. This early stage of project development is influenced by a multitude of factors and input from various stakeholders. While early contractor involvement (ECI) offers potential benefits for both clients and projects, the timing and selection of tasks for involving the contractor are critical to achieving these benefits. This study seeks to identify key pre-construction activities in public infrastructure projects and pinpoint the activities that stand to gain the most from ECI. The research methodology involved conducting semi-structured interviews, organizing seven workshops, and conducting the literature and document studies. Through these efforts, the study identified a total of 20 pre-construction activities, among which 5 activities emerged as the most favorable candidates for ECI, while 5 others were deemed less suitable. The findings underscore a consensus that involving contractor expertise during the Brief Development sub-phase holds significant promise. Notably, activities associated with planning, environmental considerations, and technical aspects related to the scope clarification, were found to be highly amenable to ECI. Activities addressing uncertainty management received particular attention, with clients valuing contractors’ practical experience in risk assessment and mitigation. Additionally, contractors’ insights into planning, activity dependencies, and their contributions to health, safety, and environmental plans were highly regarded. However, activities, categorized under the more technical sub-phases of Concept Development and Detailed Engineering yielded mixed results, while those falling within the predominantly social and political domain and involving political processes and societal impact, were viewed as less suitable for early contractor involvement. These findings emphasize the need to adopt a systematic and consistent approach to pre-construction activities, highlighting that ECI should not be applied as a one-size-fits-all solution. The interview results somewhat contrast with the literature findings, which indicate that the early conceptual phase is most beneficial as the contractor impact is highest. To some extent, the client, contractor, and consultant still see their benefit and strategy before the good of the project.

The Basel Convention has tempted developed nations into the practice of exporting hazardous waste into undeveloped nations' territories simply for money in the name of recycling. Being extremely business unfriendly, particularly for the recycling industry, this convention has not been welcomed by many developing nations, leading to serious policy and legal uncertainty in those jurisdictions. However, in the absence of any dedicated, enforceable international legal instrument, the Basel Convention currently remains the foundation of ship-recycling jurisprudence in the domestic courts of all dominant, ship-recycling states and the rest of the world, and the basis for curbing the movement of end-of-life ships proceeding to undeveloped states for recycling. Considerable debate exists amongst major stakeholders about the Basel Convention's application to end-of-life ships. Stakeholders associated with global shipping and the ship-recycling industry, including the governments of ship-owning states, firmly maintain that the Convention does not apply to the cross-border movement of end-of-life ships. On the other side, environmental activists strongly argue that the Convention should regulate end-of-life ships as hazardous waste. Through a doctrinal analysis breaking down key terms and provisions, this article seeks to address the contentious questions on the Basel Convention's relevance to end-of-life ships and their movement. * Context.--Augmented reality (AR) devices such as the Microsoft HoloLens have not been well used in the medical field. Objective.--To test the HoloLens for clinical and nonclinical applications in pathology. Design.--A Microsoft HoloLens was tested for virtual annotation during autopsy, viewing 3D gross and microscopic pathology specimens, navigating whole slide images, telepathology, as well as real-time pathology-radiology correlation. Results.--Pathology residents performing an autopsy wearing the HoloLens were remotely instructed with real-time diagrams, annotations, and voice instruction. 3D-scanned gross pathology specimens could be viewed as holograms and easily manipulated. Telepathology was supported during gross examination and at the time of intraoperative consultation, allowing users to remotely access a pathologist for guidance and to virtually annotate areas of interest on specimens in real-time. The HoloLens permitted radiographs to be coregistered on gross specimens and thereby enhanced locating important pathologic findings. The HoloLens also allowed easy viewing and navigation of whole slide images, using an AR workstation, including multiple coregistered tissue sections facilitating volumetric pathology evaluation. Conclusions.--The HoloLens is a novel AR tool with multiple clinical and nonclinical applications in pathology. The device was comfortable to wear, easy to use, provided sufficient computing power, and supported high-resolution imaging. It was useful for autopsy, gross and microscopic examination, and ideally suited for digital pathology.
