Abstract Background Image-guided hepatic interventions are integral to the management of infective and neoplastic liver lesions. Over the past decades, 2D US was used for guidance of hepatic interventions; with the recent advances in US technology, 3D US was used to guide the hepatic interventions. This study aimed to illustrate the added value of 3D image-guided hepatic interventions by X matrix technology. Methods This prospective study was performed on 100 patients that were divided into two groups: group A which included 50 patients who were managed by using 2D US probe guidance, and group B which included 50 patients who were managed by using 3D X matrix US probe guidance. Thermal ablation was done for 70 patients; 40 radiofrequency ablation (RFA) (20 by the 2D probe and 20 by the 3D X matrix probe) and 30 microwave ablation (MWA) (15 by the 2D probe and 15 by the 3D X matrix probe). Chemical ablation (PEI) was done for 20 patients (ten by the 2D probe and ten by the 3D X matrix probe). Drainage of hepatic collections and biopsy from undiagnosed hepatic focal lesions were done for ten patients (five by the 2D probe and five by the 3D X matrix probe). Results The efficacy of US-guided hepatic interventions by 3D X matrix probe was higher than the 2D probe but not significantly higher, with a p value of 0.705, 0.5428 for RFA and MWA, respectively, 0.5312 for PEI, and 0.2918 for drainage of hepatic collections and biopsy. The complications related to the use of the 3D X matrix probe were significantly lower than the 2D probe with a p value of 0.003. The timing of the procedure was shorter by the usage of a 3D X matrix probe in comparison with the 2D probe with a p value of 0.08, 0.34 for RFA and PEI and significantly shorter for MWA and drainage of hepatic collection, biopsy with a p value of 0.02, 0.001, respectively. Conclusions 3D US-guided hepatic interventions by X matrix probe have better efficacy, less complication, and shorter time of procedure than the 2D US-guided hepatic interventions.

This paper introduces a multifunction interactive PV system that has the ability to feed a nonlinear local load in either grid-tied topology (GTT) or off-grid topology (OGT) and transits between the two topologies are seamless. The interactive PV system utilizes a sliding Fourier transform-based phase-locked loop (SFT-PLL) as an adaptive and robust control technique for extracting the fundamental load current. Further, the SFT-PLL is also used to synchronize the inverter output voltage with the grid during the GTT. The proposed synchronization technique has a superior immunity to the weak grid problems. The SFT-PLL based control technique has a very good ability to mitigate the nonlinear load harmonics and to deliver active current to the grid with a unity power factor. Moreover, the proposed control technique is able to keep a balanced grid current when the connected load is unbalanced whether the PV source is available or not. The DC-link voltage is controlled by the controller of the voltage source inverter (VSI) during GTT. During the OGT, the AC load voltage is regulated by the VSI controller while the DC-link voltage is regulated by the boost converter controller to satisfy the power requirements of the connected load. The simulation and experimental results show the effectiveness of the proposed control technique in feeding a balanced current with THD adheres to the IEEE-519 standard at different operating conditions. The performance of the proposed method is compared with recently published adaptive filtering techniques to show its effectiveness especially when the load current has a DC-offset.

Aim The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of intravitreal Bevacizumab injection at the time of phacoemulsification on the incidence of postoperative diabetic macular edema (DME) in diabetic patients without preexisting DME. Patients and methods The study included 40 diabetic patients with no preexisting DME who underwent phacoemulsification. They were divided into two groups: group A (controls) included 20 eyes in which phacoemulsification was performed without Bevacizumab injection and group B (Bevacizumab): included 20 eyes in which 1.25 mg Bevacizumab was injected at the conclusion of surgery. Macular optical coherence tomography and visual acuity were assessed at 2 weeks, 2 months, and 6 months postoperatively. Results The incidence of DME in the noninjected patients was 5, 20, and 30% at 2 weeks, 2 months, and 6 months, respectively, compared with 0, 5, and 5% in the Bevacizumab injected patients. This difference in incidence was only statistically significant at 6 months (P=0.15 at 2 months and 0.04 at 6 months). On comparing the baseline central macular thickness in the control and Bevacizumab groups (229.4±26.8 and 230.8±26.7 μm, respectively) to the 6-month follow-up values (278.3±52.3 and 254.7±26.2 μm, respectively), a higher statistically significant difference was found in the control group (P=0.0001) versus the injected group (P=0.002) denoting more progression of DME in the control group. Conclusion Prophylactic intravitreal injection of Bevacizumab at the time of phacoemulsification is potentially effective in the midterm prevention of DME in cases with and without preoperative diabetic retinopathy.

This research addresses a problem manifested in a main question: what is the role of the digital media in marketing the artistic products? in order to determine the role played by the digital media in the disclosure and promotion of the artistic product, its price and places of distribution, as the basic elements of the marketing mixture. This is a descriptive research in which the researcher used the survey method to check the opinions of a sample chosen according to the (proportion) method from the research community represented by instructors and students of the college of Fine Arts- University of Dayala. In order to achieve the aims of the research, the researcher used a field research tool, i.e., a questionnaire, where the researcher made questions into four axes representing the b basic elements of the marketing mixture, and a scale consisting of a group of statements having three alternatives to measure that role. The researcher then, after collecting the data, resorted to the statistical processes aiming to extract the results and analyze and explain them through the use of a number of methods, tests and statistical coefficients. The most important results reached at: The results revealed that the respondents have a weak practice in marketing their artistic products through digital media applications. Most of the respondents affirmed that marketing through the digital media has not cancelled their practice to market their artistic products through the traditional means. Most of the respondents agreed that the digital media may play a major role in introducing the artistic products.

The study aims to study the estimation the size of erosion in the Merka Sur valley , that located in Erbil in northern of Iraq as part of simple torsion mountain region (1000 - 2100) m , with a basin area (162.1 km2). The researchers used remote sensing technology (RS) from the US Landsat L8 OLI to Lineament Extraction, the Digital Elevation Model (DEM) for topographic analysis (elevation and slope) , hydrological analysis (river drainage system), GIS, For mapping and engineering analysis within the Arc GIS 10.3 environment The results shows natural characteristics: Lithological, soil and natural plant, as well as identify the spatial distribution of these characteristics. Lineament a role in determining the type of erosion within their presence as in the western side of the valley. Where there a heavily Lineament that motivate the presence of the groove erosion , despite its presence in the resistance to erosion configurations like (formation of Qmjoukh , Aqra – Bkhme). The slope of the gradient plays an important role in determining the type of erosion. In steep slopes (18-50 degrees) stimulates the gully erosion type , while simple slopes (1 - 18 degrees) Sheet erosion. The results showed that the number and the total length of valleys within the upper ranks of river (the first, second, third) have a role in the degree of erosion within the erosion rates by Bergsma equation , Finally, The height factor and vegetation density were found to play a role in erosion and reduce wind erosion within the region.
