Summary: In wireless charging systems for electric vehicles, fluctuations in coil mutual inductance can affect both system output power and efficiency. This paper introduces a coil mutual inductance model that accounts for metal shielding material. The formula for coil mutual inductance is derived using Maxwell's equations and boundary conditions. Additionally, the paper presents a tactic for adapting the mutual inductance with the aid of an intelligent optimization algorithm, which is utilized for steadying the mutual inductance of the transmission coil. Lastly, a model of the transmission coil is developed to authenticate the practicality of the mutual inductance equation and the adaptation scheme. Measurement and calculation results indicate that the difference between the calculated value of the mutual inductance formula and the actual mutual inductance value of the coil, following deflection and offset, is below 5%. Moreover, the algorithm, along with the employed adaptation strategy, consistently demonstrates effectiveness in maintaining the mutual inductance value within a predefined range. The temporal efficiency of the algorithm, as measured by the time taken to determine this coordinate position, is consistently under 1 s. Abstract Background Anti-N-methyl-D-aspartate receptor (anti-NMDAR) encephalitis, which is the most common type of autoimmune encephalitis, is caused by the production of autoantibodies against NMDA receptor. Anti-NMDAR encephalitis patients present with various non-specific symptoms, such as abnormal psychiatric or behaviour, speech dysfunction, cognitive dysfunction, seizures, movement disorders, decreased level of consciousness, and central hypoventilation or autonomic dysfunction. Case presentation A 67-year-old man presented with new-onset focal seizures. The brain magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) plain scan and enhanced scan showed abnormal signal on the proximal midline frontoparietal junction region. Anti-NMDAR antibody was detected in cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) and serum using a commercial kit (Euroimmune, Germany) by indirect immunofluorescence testing (IIFT) according to the manufacturer’s instructions for twice. Both of the test results were positive in CSF and serum. The patient was diagnosed as anti-NMDAR encephalitis and then was treated repeatedly with large dose of intravenous corticosteroids and gamma globulin. Accordingly, the refractory nature of seizures in this case may be attributed to NMDAR autoantibodies. When the patient presented at the hospital for the third time, the brain MRI revealed an increase in the size of the frontal parietal lesion and one new lesion in the left basal ganglia. The patient underwent a surgical biopsy and astrocytoma was confirmed by histopathology. Conclusions Although the sensitivity and specificity of anti-NMDAR-IgG antibodies in CSF to diagnose anti-NMDAR encephalitis are close to 100%, it is not absolute. Anti-NMDAR antibodies were positive, which might make the diagnosis more complex. The diagnosis of atypical presentation of anti-NMDAR encephalitis requires reasonable exclusion of other disorders.

For the protection of Protected Geographical Indication (PGI) Sunite lamb, PGI Sunite lamb samples and lamb samples from two other banners in the Inner Mongolia autonomous region were distinguished by stable isotopes (δ13C, δ15N, δ2H, and δ18O) and two local modeling approaches. In terms of the main characteristics and predictive performance, local modeling was better than global modeling. The accuracies of five local models (LDA, RF, SVM, BPNN, and KNN) obtained by the Adaptive Kennard–Stone algorithm were 91.30%, 95.65%, 91.30%, 100%, and 91.30%, respectively. The accuracies of the five local models obtained by an approach of PCA–Full distance based on DD–SIMCA were 91.30%, 91.30%, 91.30%, 100%, and 95.65%, respectively. The accuracies of the five global models were 91.30%, 91.30%, 91.30%, 100%, and 91.30%, respectively. Stable isotope ratio analysis combined with local modeling can be used as an effective indicator for protecting PGI Sunite lamb.

We previously found that oxygen-glucose-serum deprivation/restoration (OGSD/R) induces apoptosis of spinal cord astrocytes, possibly via caspase-12 and the integrated stress response, which involves protein kinase R-like endoplasmic reticulum kinase (PERK), eukaryotic initiation factor 2-alpha (eIF2α) and activating transcription factor 4 (ATF4). We hypothesized that edaravone, a low molecular weight, lipophilic free radical scavenger, would reduce OGSD/R-induced apoptosis of spinal cord astrocytes. To test this, we established primary cultures of rat astrocytes, and exposed them to 8 hours/6 hours of OGSD/R with or without edaravone (0.1, 1, 10, 100 μM) treatment. We found that 100 μM of edaravone significantly suppressed astrocyte apoptosis and inhibited the release of reactive oxygen species. It also inhibited the activation of caspase-12 and caspase-3, and reduced the expression of homologous CCAAT/enhancer binding protein, phosphorylated (p)-PERK, p-eIF2α, and ATF4. These results point to a new use of an established drug in the prevention of OGSD/R-mediated spinal cord astrocyte apoptosis via the integrated stress response.

Background: Traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) has clear advantages in stabilizing patients with heart failure (HF) and improving cardiac functions. Aims: This study aimed to investigate the role of Cornus officinalis Sieb. et Zucc. (Cor) in HF. Settings and Design: Rats with HF were treated with Cor or Cor with an adenosine monophosphate-activated protein kinase (AMPK) inhibitor, dorsomorphin dihydrochloride (Dor). Materials and Methods: The weight and echocardiography findings of the rats were examined. AMPK and p-AMPK expression levels were assessed using Western blots, mitochondrial changes were evaluated using transmission electron microscopy (TEM), and adenosine triphosphate (ATP) levels were detected in each group. Finally, the targets of Cor were analyzed using HERB (http://herb.ac.cn). Statistical Analysis Used: A Student's t- test was used to compare two groups, and a one-way analysis of variance was performed for intergroup comparison. A p < 0.05 indicated that the difference was statistically significant. Results: Compared with that of the Sham group, the body weight of the Model group decreased; left ventricular end diastolic diameter (LVIDd) and left ventricular end systolic diameter (LVIDs) increased; and left ventricular end diastolic posterior wall thickness (LVPWd), left ventricular end systolic posterior wall thickness (LVPWs), left ventricular ejection fraction (EF), and stroke volume (SV) decreased. These effects were reversed by the Cor treatment. Western blot analysis indicated p-AMPK levels were higher in the Model group than those in the Sham group. After Cor treatment, p-AMPK levels increased but later decreased after treatment with Dor. In addition, myocardial mitochondrial abnormalities were reduced and ATP levels increased in the Cor group compared with the Model group, which were reversed by Dor. Lastly, Cor was found to target AMPK pathway-related genes. Conclusion: Cor exerts protective effects on HF by activating AMPK to improve mitochondrial function. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

COX-2 expression by means of immunohistochemistry in 120 cases breast invasive ductal carcinomas and 60 cases benign lesions were compared with clinicopathological features and prognostic molecular markers. COX-2 role of invasiveness and chemotaxis in breast cancer cell line MDA-MB-231 by using small RNA interference (siRNA) plasmids to disrupt COX-2 expression in vitro were investigated.
