The lack of effective tumor-associated antigens restricts the development of targeted therapies against myeloid leukemia. In this study, we compared gene expression patterns of acute myeloid leukemia (AML) and normal bone marrow samples and found that epithelial cell adhesion molecule (EpCAM) is frequently overexpressed in patients with AML, with EpCAM+ leukemic cells exhibiting enhanced chemoresistance and oncogenesis. The chemotherapeutic resistance of EpCAM-positive leukemic cells is a consequence of increased WNT5B signaling. Furthermore, we generated EpCAM antibodies that enabled phagocytosis or cytotoxicity of AML cells by macrophage or natural killer cells, respectively. Finally, EpCAM antibody treatment depleted AML in subcutaneous, disseminated, and intramedullary engrafted mice. In summary, EpCAM exhibits promise as a novel target for the treatment of leukemia. Clinical characteristics of leukemic patients in this study

Background: Heart failure is a complex clinical syndrome, and there is growing evidence that ferroptosis is related to heart failure. This study sought to identify a new diagnostic model for ferroptosis-related genes in heart failure patients and analyze the signature genes associated with ferroptosis in heart failure. Methods: The ferroptosis-related genes were found on the FerrDbwebsite, and the heart failure microarray datasets (GSE5406, GSE57338, GSE1145) were screened from the GEO database. The "limma" package in R software was then used to analyze the ferroptosis-related differentially expressed genes (DEGs), and functional enrichment analysis was carried out for ferroptosis-related DEGs. The differentially expressed ferroptosis-related genes were then screened using LASSO regression and SVM-RFE algorithms. The intersection was then used to get the signature genes. The signature genes served as the foundation for the diagnostic model. The diagnostic model was created using a nomogram and receiver operating characteristic curve (ROC), and the model's precision was assessed. The expression of the signature genes' signaling pathways was examined using GSEA. The CIBERSORT algorithm was then used to analyze immune cell infiltration and correlation analysis in the immune systems of heart failure patients. Finally, the testing set was used to evaluate the diagnostic and predictive value of signature genes in heart failure. Results: The training set (GSE5406) was used to screen 127 ferroptosis-related differentially expressed genes, including 44 up-regulated and 83 down-regulated genes. Ferroptosis was significantly enriched for genes that were differentially expressed according to KEGG analysis, and oxidative stress was significantly enriched in genes according to GO-BP analysis. A diagnostic model and nomogram were successfully constructed based on the five differential genes with an area under the curve (AUC):0.952 (95% CI: 0.894-0.993), using the diagnostic model to differentiate between the normal control group and the heart failure group. Five ferroptosis-related differential genes (BECN1, SLC39A14, QSOX1, DAZAP1, TMSB4X) were screened and identified. Additionally, CD4-naive T cells were discovered to be related to heart failure patients. Finally, the diagnostic performance in the testing set (GSE57338, GSE1145) was confirmed, further demonstrating the accuracy and reliability of the study's findings. Conclusion: A novel diagnostic model with significant value for heart failure was successfully established after five ferroptosis-related genes were screened and identified. Additionally, it might be beneficial for treating patients with heart failure and aid in understanding the part ferroptosis plays in the pathogenesis of the condition.

To determine the characteristics and potential indicators of modern typhoon deposition in a sandy lagoon off the coast of Guangdong Province (southern China), we analysed the 210Pb, sedimentology, and microfossils of samples from ten cores obtained before and after the passage of Typhoon Rammasun in 2014. Typhoon deposition showed a thinning trend from internal areas of the lagoon to its mouth, with the maximum thickness inside the lagoon of ∼35 cm. These typhoon deposits are dominated by overwash and differ from sediments deposited under normal weather conditions. Under normal weather conditions, lagoon sediment has a 210Pb curve that follows a model of exponential decay, has a unimodal granularity frequency curve, and lacks organic matter and microfossils (diatoms and foraminifera). However, 210Pb is low in the typhoon deposits, the grain size is coarse, and the granularity frequency curve is obviously bimodal. There are also abundant foraminifera in the typhoon deposits. We found a clear double-layered structure in the typhoon deposits, which was caused by strong hydrodynamic disturbance that mixed sediments originally from the offshore area with those of the lagoon. The lower layer has coarse-grained particles with medium sorting, low organic matter content, and low diatom content. The upper layer has fine-grained particles with poor sorting, high organic matter content, and abundant diatoms. The rate of fragmentation of diatoms in the upper layer was very high (40%–60%). The diatom assemblage contained offshore and freshwater species carried by storm runoff. Therefore, we believe that the sediments of this typical sand bar–lagoon environment retain evidence of typhoon events along the southern China coast that is displayed in the marked sedimentological and microfossil characteristics.

Green innovation is fundamental for the achievement of a "win-win" state between economic growth and environmental protection. Pivotal to maintaining the vitality of green innovation is the effectiveness of government policies. First, this paper develops a theoretical model to capture the structure of a green innovation system, incorporating five subsystems: government, environment, technology, economy, and energy subsystems. It further explores the transmission effects of the five subsystems of green innovation systems between government policy-related actions and green innovation. Second, a causal loop diagram of green innovation is constructed to analyse how government fiscal, tax, financial, technical, and environmental policies influence green innovation through these subsystems and other relevant variables. Third, taking the Chinese manufacturing industry as an example, this work builds a stock and flow model that can more clearly reflect the relationships among all variables in a green innovation system. Then, it calculates the quantitative relationship between different variables in the model. Model effectiveness is verified by historical data and sensitivity analysis. Finally, based on the above work, this study simulates the evolution of the green innovation system in the Chinese manufacturing industry by changing the variables of fiscal, tax, financial, technical, and environmental policies. The results show that different types of policies and differentiated implementation strengths have varied impacts on the green innovation performance of the manufacturing industry. There is a synergistic relationship between different types of policies, implying a higher-level effectiveness of policy orchestration compared to the use of separate policies. This paper generates valuable implications for the government for formulating and optimizing green innovation policies.

The obligate intracellular parasite Toxoplasma gondii secretes effector molecules into the host cell to modulate host immunity. Previous studies have shown that T. gondii could interfere with host NF-κB signaling to promote their survival, but the effectors of type I strains remain unclear. The polymorphic rhoptry protein ROP18 is a key serine/threonine kinase that phosphorylates host proteins to modulate acute virulence. Our data demonstrated that the N-terminal portion of ROP18 is associated with the dimerization domain of p65. ROP18 phosphorylates p65 at Ser-468 and targets this protein to the ubiquitin-dependent degradation pathway. The kinase activity of ROP18 is required for p65 degradation and suppresses NF-κB activation. Consistently, compared with wild-type ROP18 strain, ROP18 kinase-deficient type I parasites displayed a severe inability to inhibit NF-κB, culminating in the enhanced production of IL-6, IL-12, and TNF-α in infected macrophages. In addition, studies have shown that transgenic parasites carrying kinase-deficient ROP18 induce M1-biased activation. These results demonstrate for the first time that the virulence factor ROP18 in T. gondii type I strains is responsible for inhibiting the host NF-κB pathway and for suppressing proinflammatory cytokine expression, thus providing a survival advantage to the infectious agent.

A microalgal strain Micractinium reisseri FM1 which could assimilate organic carbon sources effectively and grow rapidly under mixotrophic condition was screened and identified through morphological and 18S rRNA gene sequence. Addition of glucose, maltose and sodium acetate at 2 and 4 g L−1 contents could promote the biomass production, lipid content and productivity significantly. Compared with batch culture (8 g L−1), fed-batch culture (fed 2 g L−1 4 times) with glucose, maltose and sodium acetate respectively, could not only enhance biomass, but also boost lipid productivity. More importantly, the composition of fatty acid could be enriched and the proportion of saturated to unsaturated fatty acids could be improved on the basis of promoting alga growth and lipid production by feeding organic carbon and regulating culture mode. M. reisseri FM1 has the potential to assimilate organic carbon sources for high-cell density cultivation and production of biodiesel or functional polyunsaturated fatty acids.

3-O-trans-caffeoyloleanolic acid (COA) is a pentacyclic triterpenoid compound, with significant anti-inflammatory effects. In this study, we report the protective effects of COA on lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-induced acute lung injury (ALI) and explored its mechanism of action. LPS was used to construct in vivo mouse ALI models to observe the effects of COA pretreatment on lung pathology, inflammation, and oxidative stress. In vitro, mouse alveolar macrophages MH-S cells were cultured and stimulated with LPS to investigate the effects of COA pretreatment on inflammation and oxidative stress. Western blotting was used to investigate the expression of iNOS, TLR4, p-p65, p-AKT, and p-PI3K from in vivo and in vitro samples. The results showed that COA significantly improved lung injury, inhibited neutrophil infiltration, prevented macrophage infiltration, inhibited the release of inflammatory factors, reduced oxidative stress, and down-regulated the expression of iNOS, TLR4, p-p65, p-AKT, and p-PI3K in ALI mice caused by LPS. In vitro, COA inhibited the release of inflammatory factors, reduced oxidative stress, and down-regulated the expression of iNOS, TLR4, p-p65, p-AKT, and p-PI3K in MH-S cells stimulated with LPS. Of interest, the protective effects of COA were significantly attenuated in MH-S cells pretreated with the PI3K phosphopeptide activator 740Y-P with no effect on TLR4 expression observed. Taken together, these findings confirm the protective effects of COA on ALI. We further demonstrate that the anti-inflammation and antioxidant effects of COA are mediated through its effects on PI3K/AKT and potentially TLR4.

This study aimed to evaluate and compare the predictive accuracy of serum markers for histological chorioamnionitis (HCA) among women with preterm prelabour rupture of membranes (PPROM), and to develop a nomogram prediction model to minimize the damage of the disease.This case-control study included 153 pregnant women with PPROM with a gestational age of 20From 153 subjects with PPROM, 77 developed HCA. Compared with the PPROM without HCA group, the CRP, PCT and NLR were significantly higher in HCA group (P0.001), and the CRP had the highest predictive value. The area under the curve (AUC) of the prediction model was 0.873, and the sensitivity and specificity of predicting HCA were 68.8% and 92.1%, respectively. And the calibration curves fitted well with the realistic situation.Maternal serum CRP and NLR could be used as predictive biomarkers for HCA in women with PPROM, while PCT needs to be further explored due to its slightly lower predictive value. Our serum markers and gestational age at PPROM could be used as a non-invasive and convenient method to predict HCA in women with PPROM.

Fast radio bursts (FRBs) are short pulses observed in radio band from cosmological distances. One class of models invoke soft gamma-ray repeaters (SGRs), or magnetars, as the sources of FRBs. Some radio pulses have been observed from some magnetars, however, no FRB-like events had been detected in association any magnetar burst, including one giant flare. Recently, a pair of FRB-like bursts (FRB 200428 hereafter) separated by milliseconds (ms) were detected from the general direction of the Galactic magnetar SGR J1935+2154. Here we report the detection of a non-thermal X-ray burst in the 1-250 keV energy band with the Insight-HXMT satellite, which we identify as emitted from SGR J1935+2154. The burst showed two hard peaks with a separation of 34 ms, broadly consistent with that of the two bursts in FRB 200428. The delay time between the double radio and X-ray peaks is about 8.57 s, fully consistent with the dispersion delay of FRB 200428. We thus identify the non-thermal X-ray burst is associated with FRB 200428 whose high energy counterpart is the two hard peaks in X-ray. Our results suggest that the non-thermal X-ray burst and FRB 200428 share the same physical origin in an explosive event from SGR J1935+2154., 24 pages, 9 figures, 6 tables; initial submission to a journal on May 9th, 2020. Significant changes include updated localization and detailed spectral evolution of the X-ray burst, and better determination of the two narrow X-ray peaks corresponding to the two radio pulses. The Youjiang Basin is usually regarded as an important foreland basin in the southern part of the South China Block that is related to the convergence of the South China and Indochina blocks during the Permian-Triassic. However, the nature of the basin remains controversial due to questions about the subduction polarity and suture boundary between these two blocks. Permian-Triassic felsic volcanics across the Dian-Qiong and Song Ma suture zones could offer new insights into the convergent processes of the South China and Indochina blocks. This study presents detailed petrological, zircon U-Pb dating, and Hf-O isotope and whole-rock geochemical analyses for the Triassic felsic volcanics of the Youjiang Basin (northeast of the Dian-Qiong). The dacites and rhyolites from the Beisi and Baifeng Formations were dated at ca. 240–245 Ma. All of the felsic volcanics are characterized by high SiO2 (69.40–73.15 wt%), FeOt/MgO, 10000*Ga/Al, and TZr, δ18O (9.7–11.8‰) and negative εNd(t) (from −9.6 to −12.3) and zircon εHf(t) (from −6.2 to −14.5) with A-type granitoid geochemical affinities, suggesting the reworking of crustal rocks in an extensional setting. Permian-Triassic felsic igneous rocks display similar geochemical signatures across the Dian-Qiong suture zone, whereas they show distinctive Sr-Nd and zircon Hf-O isotopes across the Song Ma suture zone. The felsic igneous rocks to the northeast of the Song Ma suture zone have much lower εNd(t) and higher δ18O with negative zircon εHf(t) than those to the southwest, which have positive zircon εHf(t). Combined with other geological and geophysical features, it is inferred that the Song Ma suture zone was probably the suture boundary between the South China and Indochina blocks, and the Youjiang Basin was likely a peripheral foreland basin in response to the southwestward convergence of the South China Block toward the Indochina Block.

A black hole X-ray binary produces hard X-ray radiation from its corona and disk when the accreting matter heats up. During an outburst, the disk and corona co-evolves with each other. However, such an evolution is still unclear in both its geometry and dynamics. Here we report the unusual decrease of the reflection fraction in MAXI J1820+070, which is the ratio of the coronal intensity illuminating the disk to the coronal intensity reaching the observer, as the corona is observed to contrast during the decay phase. We postulate a jet-like corona model, in which the corona can be understood as a standing shock where the material flowing through. In this dynamical scenario, the decrease of the reflection fraction is a signature of the corona's bulk velocity. Severe pneumonia is a high-mortality disorder in children. The expression and underlying effects of lncRNA maternally expressed 3 (MEG3) were detected. The relationships between MEG3 and other parameters were reported by Pearson correlation. The prognostic importance of MEG3 was assessed by Kaplan-Meier (K-M) curve and COX analysis and its diagnostic potential was uncovered by the receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve. Luciferase activity assay was performed to demonstrate the target gene of MEG3. Elevated expression of MEG3 and reduced microRNA-29 c (miR-29 c) were evaluated in severe pneumonia children, and a negative relationship between MEG3 and miR-29 c was propounded. MEG3 might function as an independent prognostic indicator. The diagnostic efficiency of MEG3 was also indicated for severe pneumonia children. In MRC-5 cell models and MH-S cell models, lipopolysaccharide (LPS) contributed to the increased expression of MEG3. Interference of MEG3 restricted the upregulation of MEG3 triggered by LPS. Silenced MEG3 protected MRC-5 and MH-S cells against damages managed by LPS on cell apoptosis, viability, and inflammation. MiR-29 c was a ceRNA of MEG3 and the absence of MEG3 abrogated the decreased expression of miR-29 c caused by LPS. Overall, the increased expression of MEG3 and the reduced levels of miR-29 c were identified in severe pneumonia. Prognostic and diagnostic significances of MEG3 provided a novel perspective for severe pneumonia. Disruption of MEG3 alleviated cell injury and inflammation as characterized by high LPS by binding miR-29 c.

Exosomes derived from human bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells (BMSCs) play potential protective roles in asthma. However, the underlying mechanisms remain not fully elucidated. Herein, exosomes were isolated from BMSCs, and their morphology, particle size and exosome marker proteins were identified by transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and nanoparticle tracking analysis (NTA) and Western blot, respectively. Then airway smooth muscle cells (ASMCs) were treated with transforming growth factor-β1 (TGF-β1) to construct proliferation model, and then incubated with BMSCs-derived exosomes. We found that exosome incubation increased miR-221-3p expression, and inhibited proliferation, migration, and the levels of extracellular matrix (ECM) proteins including fibronectin and collagen III. Moreover, FGF2 was identified as a target gene of miR-221-3p. FGF2 overexpression reversed the inhibitory effects of exosomal miR-221-3p on ASMC progression. Besides, the phosphorylation of extracellular signal-regulated kinase 1/2 (ERK1/2) is inhibited by exosomal miR-221-3p, which was reversed by FGF2 overexpression. And ERK1/2 signaling activator reversed the effects of exosomal miR-221-3p on ASMC progression. Additionally, an ovalbumin (OVA)-induced asthmatic mice model was established, and exosomes treatment alleviated airway hyper-responsiveness (AHR), histopathological damage and ECM deposition in asthmatic mice. Taken together, our findings indicated that exosomal miR-221-3p derived from BMSCs inhibited FGF2 expression and the ERK1/2 signaling, thus attenuating proliferation, migration and ECM deposition in ASMCs and alleviating asthma progression in OVA-induced asthmatic mice. Our findings may provide a novel therapeutic strategy for asthma.

Recently, the system parameters of Cygnus X-1, i.e., the black hole mass M, the orbital inclination i and the source distance D, have been updated. As the input constraints of the continuum-fitting method, it is necessary to refine the spin with these new parameters. The Hard X-ray Modulation Telescope (HXMT, also named Insight) was successfully launched on June 15th, 2017 in China. In this work, we analyzed spectra obtained by the Insight-HXMT during 2017-2018 and re-estimated the spin via the continuum-fitting method. We first re-estimated the spin using old parameters and found the dimensionless spin parameter to be a ⁎ > 0.934 (3σ), which is consistent with previous measurements both from the continuum-fitting and iron-line fitting methods ( Gou et al. 2011 , Gou et al. 2014 ; Fabian et al. 2012 , Walton et al. 2016 , Tomsick et al. 2018 ). Then, when the new parameters were applied, we obtained an increased spin: a ⁎ > 0.967 (3σ), which is also consistent with the recent measurement (Zhao et al. 2020, submitted to ApJ) and also confirms an extreme Kerr black hole lying in this system.

In Southeast Asia, the Jinshajiang–Ailaoshan suture in Southwest China and the Song Ma zone in Vietnam were generally accepted as the amalgamation boundary of the South China and Simao/Indochina blocks. However, the tectonic location of the Paleotethyan suture in North Laos and its tectonic affinity remain ambiguous. To address this issue, we present the geochemical and geochronological data of a set of mafic and plagiogranitic rocks along the Song Ma suture zone in North Laos. Three groups of rocks with distinctive petrological, geochronological, and geochemical signatures were identified. The ca. 370 Ma Group 1 plagioclase amphibolite was preserved as xenoliths in the ca. 260 Ma granitoids. It exhibits a normal mid–oceanic–ridge basalt (N–MORB)-like, multi-elemental pattern with highly positive εNd(t) (+3.3 to +10.7) and εHf(t) (+6.68 to +7.41) values and low δ18O values (5.3‰−5.5‰), that are interpreted as products of the Late Devonian − earliest Carboniferous continental rift setting. The ca. 270 Ma Group 2 gabbro/diabase–diorite exhibits arc-like geochemical affinity with the εNd(t), εHf(t), and δ18O values of –5.85 to –3.76, –3.8 to +3.2, and 6.6‰–7.6‰, respectively. It is derived from the metasomatized wedge. The ca. 260 Ma Group 3 plagiogranite shows Nb-Ta and Ti negative anomalies and positive εNd(t) (+3.21 to +4.21), εHf(t) (+8.4 to +13.6), and δ18O (5.9‰−6.8‰) values, which are indicative of its derivation from mafic oceanic crust in a subduction setting. In combination with the published data, these results support the development of the Carboniferous–Permian Paleotethyan branch in North Laos, which represents the tectonic location of the Song Ma suture zone that spatially connects the Jinshajiang–Ailaoshan suture zone in Southwest China and the Chenxing–Bangxi suture zone in Hainan Island, South China.

La0.5-xDyxCa0.5-ySryMnO3 (x=0, 0.05, 0.08, 0.1, 0.14, 0.16, 0.2) polycrystalline samples were prepared by high-temperature solid-state reaction. The A-site disordering is increased with the doping concentration x, and meanwhile the average ionic radius of A-site is kept constant. X-ray diffraction and Raman spectroscopy were combined to investigate the microstructural distortion of MnO6 octahedron. Results show that the rotational vibration (RV) is the dominant distortion mode. With the A-site disordering increasing, RV mode is obviously hardened, and the Jahn-Teller distortion is enhanced. Properties investigation shows that the insulation is strengthened because of FM double exchange effect suppressed with A-site disordering increasing, and the magnetoresistance effect is weakened. A relatively significant magnetoresistance effect was observed in the low temperature region for the high-doped concentration sample, which may be related to the strong magnetic moment of Dy3+.

Three high energy particle monitors (HPMs) employed onboard the Hard X-ray Modulation Telescope Insight-HXMT) can detect the charged particles from South Atlantic Anomaly (SAA) and hence provide the alert trigger for switch-on/off of the main detectors. Here a typical design of HPM with high stability and reliability is adopted by taking a plastic scintillator coupled with a small photomultiplier tube (PMT). The window threshold of HPM is designed as 1 MeV and 20 MeV for the incident electron and proton, respectively. Before the launch of Insight-HXMT, we performed in details the ground calibration of HPM. The measured energy response and its dependence on temperature are taken as essential input of Geant4 simulation for estimating the HPM count rate given with an incident particle energy spectrum. This serves as a guidance for choosing a reasonable working range of the PMT high voltage once the real SAA count rate is measured by HPM in orbit. So far the three HPMs have been working in orbit for more than two years. The effects of various carbon sources on growth, photosynthetic pigments and lipid production of Chlorella vulgaris 31 were investigated under photoautotrophic, mixotrophic and heterotrophic cultivations. The results indicated that in two concentration gradients (2 and 10 g L−1), glucose, maltose and sodium acetate all significantly promoted the growth of C. vulgaris 31, while the effects of sucrose and glycerol were not significant. The alga could barely assimilate xylose. The biosynthesis of chlorophylls and carotenoids in algal cells was reduced under mixotrophic and heterotrophic cultivations; however, lipid production was promoted significantly. Moreover, this inhibition or promotion has significant concentration dependence of carbon source. The composition and proportion of fatty acids could also be regulated by different culture conditions and organic carbon sources. The finding suggests that the biomass, pigment and lipid production of C. vulgaris 31 could be regulated by controlling the trophic mode and carbon source.

A new black hole X-ray binary (BHXRB) MAXI J1535-571 was discovered by MAXI during its outburst in 2017. Using observations taken by the first Chinese X-ray satellite, the Hard X-ray Modulation Telescope (dubbed as Insight-HXMT), we perform a joint spectral analysis (2-150 keV) in both energy and time domains. The energy spectra provide the essential input for probing the intrinsic Quasi-Periodic Oscillation (QPO) fractional rms spectra (FRS). Our results show that during the intermediate state, the energy spectra are in general consistent with those reported by Swift/XRT and NuSTAR. However, the QPO FRS become harder and the FRS residuals may suggest the presence of either an additional power-law component in the energy spectrum or a turn-over in the intrinsic QPO FRS at high energies.

We study the 2018 outburst of Aql X-1 via the monitor of all sky X-ray image (MAXI) data. We show that the outburst starting in February 2018 is a member of short-low class in the frame of outburst duration and the peak count rate although the outburst morphology is slightly different from the other fast-rise-exponential-decay (FRED) type outbursts with a milder rising stage. We study the partial accretion in the weak propeller stage of Aql X-1 via the MAXI data of the 2018 outburst. We report on the spectral analysis of 3 observations of Aquila X-1 obtained by Insight – hard X-ray modulation telescope (Insight-HXMT) during the late decay stage of the 2018 outburst. We discuss that the data taken by Insight-HXMT is just after the transition to the weak propeller stage. Our analysis shows the necessity of a comptonization component to take into account the existence of an electron cloud resulting photons partly up-scattered.

We present a detailed timing study of the brightest persistent X-ray source Sco X-1 using the data collected by the Hard X-ray Modulation Telescope ( I n s i g h t -HXMT) from July 2017 to August 2018. A complete Z-track hardness-intensity diagram (HID) is obtained. The normal branch oscillations (NBOs) at ∼ 6 Hz in the lower part of the normal branch (NB) and the flare branch oscillations (FBOs) at ∼ 16 Hz in the beginning part of the flaring branch (FB) are found in observations with the Low Energy X-ray Telescope (LE) and the Medium Energy X-ray Telescope (ME) of I n s i g h t -HXMT, while the horizontal branch oscillations (HBOs) at ∼ 40 Hz and the kilohertz quasi-periodic oscillations (kHz QPOs) at ∼ 800 Hz are found simultaneously above 20 keV for the first time on the horizontal branch (HB) by the High Energy X-ray Telescope (HE) and ME. We find that for all types of the observed QPOs, the centroid frequencies are independent of energy, while the root mean square (rms) increases with energy; the centroid frequencies of both the HBOs and kHz QPOs increase along the Z-track from the top to the bottom of the HB; and the NBOs show soft phase lags increasing with energy. A continuous QPO transition from the FB to NB in ∼ 200 s are also detected. Our results indicate that the non-thermal emission is the origin of all types of QPOs, the innermost region of the accretion disk is non-thermal in nature, and the corona is nonhomogeneous geometrically.

A leaf-type isosceles-trapezoidal flexural (LITF) pivot consists of two leaf springs that are situated in the same plane and intersect at a virtual center of motion outside the pivot. The LITF pivot offers many advantages, including large rotation range and monolithic structure. Each leaf spring of a LITF pivot subject to end loads is deflected into an S-shaped configuration carrying one or two inflection points, which is quite difficult to model. The kinetostatic characteristics of the LITF pivot are precisely modeled using the comprehensive elliptic integral solution for the large-deflection problem derived in our previous work, and the strength-checking method is further presented. Two cases are employed to verify the accuracy of the model. The deflected shapes and nonlinear stiffness characteristics within the range of the yield strength are discussed. The load-bearing capability and motion range of the pivot are proposed. The nonlinear finite element results validate the effectiveness and accuracy of the proposed model for LITF pivots.

The evidences for the influence of thermonuclear (type-I) X-ray bursts upon the surrounding environments in neutron star low-mass X-ray binaries (LMXB) were detected previously via spectral and timing analyses. Benefitting from a broad energy coverage of Insight-HXMT, we analyze one photospheric radius expansion (PRE) burst, and find an emission excess at soft X-rays. Our spectral analysis shows that, such an excess is not likely relevant to the disk reflection induced by the burst emission and can be attributed to an enhanced pre-burst/persistent emission. We find that the burst and enhanced persistent emissions sum up to exceed Eddington luminosity by ∼ 40 percentages. We speculate that the enhanced emission is from a region beyond the PRE radius, or through the Comptonization of the corona.

High energy X-ray telescope (HE) is one of the three instruments of Insight-HXMT (Hard X-ray Modulation Telescope) payload. The HE detector (HED) array is composed of 18 actively NaI(Tl)/CsI(Na) phoswich scintillators with a total geometric area of ∼ 5100 cm 2 and cover the energy range 20∼250 keV. In this paper we describe the on-ground detector-level calibration campaigns and present the principal instrument properties of HEDs.
