This research aimed to determine the opinions of teacher parents about distance education process during COVID-19. The study was designed as a case study which is one of the methods in qualitative research. The sample of the study composed of 83 teacher parents from different branches in Turkey. Maximum variation and criterion sampling methods were used to select the participants. The data of the study were gathered though open ended questions developed by the researchers and were analyzed through descriptive and content analyses. According to the participants, distance education is perceived and accepted as a means of support rather than an alternative to face-to-face education. Participants mentioned the distance education carried out during the pandemic process as a beneficial practice in order to prevent students from breaking off from education but also they stated administrative issues, lack of computer science knowledge and internet-related problems. The inability to disseminate distance education to all students, especially disadvantaged students due to the lack of infrastructure, indifferent parents and the fact that distance education is insufficient in the education of young children/special education students show that distance education has not yet met the expectations to provide equal opportunities for everyone involved.

This paper focuses on investigating whether the contents of 6th grade math lesson in the digital education platform (EBA) used in distance education in Turkey during the COVID-19 pandemic period are appropriate to the critical thinking standards. The contents of the math lesson, which are in the digital education platform (EBA) in 2020-2021 academic years, constitute the population of the study. The course contents, which belong to "Data Collection" and "Data Analysis" subtopics of 6th grade math lesson used in Turkey's digital education platform (EBA) in 2020-2021 academic years, constitute the sample of the study. In the study, document analysis method is used. Based on the analysis conducted, it is concluded that the learning contents, which belong to "Data Collection and Evaluation" and "Data Analysis" subtopics of 6th grade math lesson, are appropriate to clearness, accuracy, importance, sufficiency, depth, and precision standards of critical thinking. In accordance with the findings discovered, some suggestions are made on the process of distance education.

The purpose of the present study was to determine the communication barriers, the reasons and results of these barriers, and solution proposals for communication barriers faced in the context of school-parents cooperation. The case study was used in this study. The data obtained from the interview forms were analysed according to the method of descriptive analysis. The findings were presented in the form of themes and subthemes. The study group consisted of 42 teachers working in the central districts of Erzurum in the 2019-2020 academic years. According to the research results, the participants think that communication barriers in the context of school-parents cooperation are related to parents and to teachers. Most of the participants express the reasons for communication barriers resulting from parents while some of the participants express the reasons for communication barriers resulting from teachers. Participants think that the results of communication barriers faced in the context of school-parents cooperation are related to students, school administrators, parents and teacher. Most of the participants think that results of communication barriers in the context of school-parents cooperation are related to students while the other participants think that results of communication barriers in the context of school-parents cooperation are related to school administrators, parents and teachers. Most of the participants propose solutions for communication barriers related to teachers while other participants propose solutions for communication barriers related to school administrators and parents.

The aim of this study was to determine not only the level of teachers' perceptions of organizational silence and school administrators' communication skills, but also the correlation between communication skills and organizational silence. The study aimed to determine to what extent school administrators' communication skills and teachers' gender predicted teachers' organizational silence as well. The target population consisted of 206 teachers at primary schools in the district of Yakutiye of the city of Erzurum in the academic year of 2018-2019. Data were collected using a personal information form developed by the researcher, the Communication Skills Scale (CCS) developed by Wiemann (1977) and adapted to Turkish by Topluer (2008) and the Organizational Silence Scale (OSS) developed by Kahveci and Demirtas (2013a). Data were analyzed using mean, standard deviation and Pearson correlation coefficient. Multiple linear regression analysis was used to determine how well independent variables predicted dependent variables. Participants' CCS social relaxation and support subscale scores were highest and lowest, respectively. Participants' OSS school environment and administrator subscale scores were highest and lowest, respectively. There was a significant correlation between school administrators' communication skills and teachers' organizational silence. Regression analysis showed that the subscales of the CCS significantly predicted those of the OSS.

The aim of the study was to determine the relationship between deontic justice attitudes among prospective teachers and their tendencies towards academic dishonesty. Participants in the study were 403 university students attending different departments of the Education Faculty of the Hacettepe University, a state university in the Central Anatolia Region of Turkey. The sample was determined by means of a stratified sampling technique, and students were chosen randomly from different departments. Attitudes towards deontic justice and tendencies towards academic dishonesty among the participants were stratified in terms of gender and students' affiliation to a specific department of education. The findings suggested that female students and participants from the English Language Education Department had the highest deontic justice attitudes; male students and participants from the Physical Education and Sports Department had the highest tendencies towards academic dishonesty. A low, negative and statistically significant relationship between deontic justice attitudes and academic dishonesty tendencies exists.

The purpose of this study is to adapt a cross-national measure of fear-based xenophobia to Turkish culture. This measure is a unidimensional cumulative attitude scale comprising five items, ordered according to difficulty parameters. It assesses participants' fear of foreigners using the stereotype content model, categorizing outsiders according to indices of warmth and competence. The participants were 360 students (218 females, 142 males) from two state universities in the capital of Turkey. The students were surveyed during the 2018-2019 academic year, and the data were analyzed through Mokken scale analysis. Responses to the survey questions divided the participants into two groups: those who agreed with the first item on the questionnaire and those who agreed with the other statements (2-5); statements 2-5 indicated nearly the same level of fear of foreigners. The data met the assumptions; a monotone homogeneity model was more suitable, and more than two-thirds of the participants responded to the scale in line with the sequential grading. This research has been conducted to discuss the absenteeism in compulsory education and the proposed policies for reducing this problem with the school practices. In this context, the general situation regarding the absenteeism in the Turkish education system has been put forward and the current practices and policies have been addressed. Furthermore, in other countries, the current situation and practices of non-attendance in the compulsory education process and what can be done are discussed. This research is a qualitative research and case study designed. In the research, data were collected via literature research. During the collection of data; in addition to the literature on absenteeism in our country, it has been also benefited from the publications of the education ministries of the countries and other academic documents in order to see how is address internationally. In this context, the approaches and strategies that are generally followed by countries are investigated by looking at the absenteeism processes of the countries. In particular, referring to example approaches and policies incentives and support mechanisms are described. In this context, the main approaches are; legal regulations, in-school practices, computer technology and family-supported practices.

Change is a growing phenomenon in the era we live. The issue of change has been one of the topics of interest in the field of administration. In general, change refers to transfer from the present situation to another situation and differentiation. Implementations related to the change also affect today's education systems. School administrators, primarily, can be shown responsible for the implementation of changes in educational institutions. The purpose of this research is to understand how the change in educational institutions is assessed in the school administrator and the environment context. The participants of the research are 12 administrators who are determined among the administrators of educational institutions working in the central districts of Konya province (Karatay, Meram, Selçuklu) and from different socio-economic districts and in the spring term of 2015-2016 academic year. During the publication phase, the interviews are reviewed and the participants' approval for publication is asked. This study has been carried out within the framework of phenomenological design and the qualitative case sampling is preferred among from purposeful sampling methods. In the analysis of the data, descriptive analysis technique is used. As a result of the research, it is understood that the school administrators have adopted the phenomenon of change and have taken this fact into account in their work. It is understood that making new arrangements in the existing structure will be reflected positively in the school and that the surrounding area should also be taken into consideration.

The purpose of this study is to analyze the process of school principal selection and appointment in Turkey and some other developed countries in a comparative way. The specific purpose is to make suggestions in order to improve the school principal selection process in Turkey by comparatively analyzing school principal selection process in Turkey and some developed countries. The focus is on the principal selection processes in the USA, Germany, and Finland, and it makes a comparison with the current situation implemented in Turkey. In most of the states in the USA, in order to be a principal, a certificate, a master's degree, and being an actual teacher are required. In the study methodology, official papers and documents have been analyzed in the context of research review in order to study the existing materials that do not require collecting through a data collection tool. These documents include related official reports, graduate thesis, articles, proceedings, National Education Councils conclusions, and legislative texts consisting of official regulations. The findings indicate that there are various selection methods used for this purpose. District Board of Education is in charge at selection procedures. In Germany, there is a variety of selection procedures among the states. The states' Education Ministries and administrators are in charge of selection and appointment of principals and modifications of selection procedures. The state exams and regular official performance assessments by superiors are decisive in the centralized selection process in most federal states. In Finland, a certificate and teaching qualification are required to be a principal. Interviews and tests are used in the selection procedures. Administrators and educational committee members are in charge of the highly decentralized selection process. There are some common and varied features in principal selection process between Turkey and the mentioned countries in the study. In Turkey, school principality is regarded as a secondary role to a teacher and the principal selection processes, procedures, and rules change very frequently in time.

In EFL or ESL classrooms there may be those learners labeled as "slow learners" who struggle to concentrate and thus experience failure inevitably. In this study, we deal with dyslexia and inattention (ADHD) because current research suggests behind the slowness of such learners may lie a disorder that can be controlled. We am going to focus on the inattention aspect of ADHD as it is more widely seen among adults rather than the hyperactivity aspect of that disorder (Volkow et al, 2013). Students with inattention and dyslexia show common symptoms and thus may have common problems (Marsha & Camahalan, 2006). The study design aims to help both teachers in class management and learners with learning difficulties cope with the expectations from an EFL learner, especially in terms of vocabulary and reading development. The method that we are suggesting is CALLA method (Chamot & O'Malley, 1996). We will specifically focus on explicit cognitive and metacognitive strategy training elements of this method, which will be executed and assessed through thinkaloud protocols. Among these strategies will be vocabulary training through collocations as well as strategies for reading comprehension (See Appendix 2). For vocabulary training strategies, we am going to adopt Lexical Approach (Lewis, 2000) because this approach suggests vocabulary can be better processed and kept in the long term memory when studied through chunks. We think it can be beneficial for learners struggling to learn vocabulary such as those with dyslexia and inattention disorders. The research methodology will be narrative inquiry as suggested by Clandinin & O'Connelly (2000). So, in this model learners are asked to keep a diary throughout their treatment with CALLA method and think-aloud protocols. In the end, this design can help teachers gain some insight into understanding learners with learning difficulty and better their foreign language learning skills.

In this study, the conditions of the Syrian asylum seeker students in Turkish universities were addressed and discussed. This study was conducted by adopting a phenomenological approach from qualitative research methods. In this regard, interviews were held with fifteen Syrian asylum seeker students continuing their education in various departments of Kahramanmaras Sutcu Imam University, a state university in Turkey. A semi-structured interview form developed by the researchers of this study was used for collecting data. In line with the examinations, important findings such as identity and citizenship crisis--which means being "the others"- and psychological problems caused by war and migration, desire to migrate to Europe were obtained. In addition to the basic needs of the Syrian asylum seeker students, such as nutrition, and sleep, there are also various problems in important areas such as economic conditions, transportation, legislation, social inclusion and support, Turkish language and academic opportunities. It was determined that these conditions may cause unwanted/unexpected situations such as early marriage, human trafficking, school dropouts, and crime.

Technology plays an important role in educational activities in Turkey. This is largely because of the Faith Project, which was recently introduced into the country. The Fatih Project is a project of Turkish government which seeks to integrate computer technology into the country's public education system. Education Informatics Network is one of the sub projects of the Faith Project which makes many free websites available for teachers' use. Furthermore, Ministry of Turkish National Education has included primary schools in the project and as a result, the usage of education platforms at primary schools is available now. Considering all the mentioned points, the purpose of this study was to find out classroom teachers' opinions in employing the education platforms in teaching. The participants of this study consist of teachers working in the city of Mersin, Turkey. The data were gathered from 116 primary school teachers working in the first, second, third and fourth grades, by using a semi-structured interview with 7 open-ended questions. The data were analyzed based on a descriptive research design. Besides, a qualitative approach was employed based on the answers given in the interview. The data and their frequencies are presented in tables. As a result of the data obtained from the study, it has been concluded that class teachers think education platforms are useful, the usage frequency of education platforms varies relative to different factors; and education platforms are used in an attempt to provide effective and permanent learning. Moreover, it was also stated in the study that teachers are not competent in using these education platform and they lack the required background knowledge. Consequently, several suggestions have been made to eliminate the mentioned inadequacies.

One of the determinant factors contributing to the professional development of teachers is the school manager, since the school managers' administration manner determines the speed and capacity of development. With this study, the managerial approaches adopted at schools and their effects on teachers' professional development are aimed to be found out. That's to say, within the context of the study, it's aimed to have a general knowledge of management approaches adopted by the directors at educational institutions and also to clarify the contribution of the managers to the professional development of the teachers. Parallel to the research objective, various research questions were formulated. Since the research aims to explain the substantial situation as it exists,it has descriptive quality. Besides, in the study, single and relational screening models are employed. The research results show that schools often use classical and neoclassical management approaches. Additionally, according to the teachers participated in the study, the school principals adopt classical management approach mostly in comparison to neoclassical management approach. If we look at the professional development of the teachers from the viewpoint that it is a contribution for the professional development, we understand that the school principals are close to the neoclassical approach.

Mathematics and Science classes in schools have become a focus to be considered in terms of educational systems and administration around the world in the last decade. Related to the mentioned classes, there are many benefits that lead students to academic success. In the recent years, educators have found that there are so many different factors that effect students' performance in science and math classes. Especially reading comprehension has changed so many traditional procedures in teaching math and science. It also shows remarkable benefits. This research focuses on the effects of reading comprehension on mathematics and science achievement. Students' academic performance on the mentioned classes and their motivation towards those courses will also be the focus of the research. The research is based on the data gathered from the latest PISA results and the opinions of secondary school teachers and students. Findings of this research indicate that there is a correlation between reading comprehension results and student success in math or science classes. It also indicates that reading comprehension contributes positively or negatively to the success results in math or science classes.

The main purpose of this study is to determine the level in which educational supervisors who carry out the regulations concerning the feasibility conditions of educational supervision regulation views arise. The research was carried out in 2010 to 2011 academic year; the research population included 3150 educational supervisors and the research sample included 387 educational supervisors. The research is a descriptive study in screening model. Research data were collected with "Educational Supervisors' Views Scale Concerning the Feasibility of Educational Supervision Regulation" that has been developed with a multiple approach based on the front-end application results. Research data were analyzed using descriptive statistics for frequency (f), percentage (%) and arithmetic average ([X-bar]). According to the research results, educational supervisors have mentioned that educational supervision regulation is much more applicable at appointment and training dimension than at service and on-the job training. Educational supervisors consider it necessary to focus primarily on supervision of education and school management to determine their authority and responsibilities in relation to their own assigned position. Supervisors also think that they cannot adequately perform all the duties of educational supervision that includes training, selection and appointment. (Contains 3 tables.)

This study aims to determine the level of prospective teachers in terms of lifelong learning key competences. Lifelong learning is an extensive educational approach receiving much attention not only by educational politics of European Union but also by the rest of the world. Lifelong learning competence requires an active and constant usage of knowledge. The items of "The Scale of Key Competences for Lifelong Learning" (SKCLLL) have been developed by the researchers based on the literature and the views of educational experts. Twenty-three items were defined in the scale. The scale has been applied to 415 prospective teachers attending to the final grade of the Faculty of Education of Selcuk University in Konya, Turkey. Based on the analysis carried out, it has been found that gender is not an effective factor in terms of the prospective teachers' lifelong learning key competences. No significant difference has been found in terms of the sub-branches. The field where prospective teachers feel that they are the least competent is communication in native language. The solid objects, kept away regularly to protect the school environment can be defined as solid wastes. This study aims to portray the aspects of the elementary school administrators relating to the recycling of solid wastes, developing and raising an awareness of teachers and students. This is a descriptive study and carried on with 11 elementary school administrators in a big city of Konya of Turkey. The results showed that, recycling of solid wastes is provided in the schools and required awareness is improved to create a clean and sustainable school media. The centralized management and local sources should be benefited to enable solid waste services effectively in schools and to develop projects. School administration, teachers, students and parents should make a contribution for the achievement of recycling activities in the schools.
