AIM: The aim of this analysis was to assess how different tooth-prognosis systems could predict tooth loss in a cohort of periodontitis patients followed up prospectively during supportive periodontal care (SPC). MATERIALS AND METHODS: Clinical and radiographic data of 97 patients undergoing regular SPC for 5 years were used to assign tooth prognosis using four different systems (McGuire & Nunn, 1996; Kwok & Caton, 2007; Graetz et al., 2011; Nibali et al., 2017). Three independent examiners assigned tooth prognosis using all four systems, following a calibration exercise. The association between prognostic categories and tooth loss was tested for each prognostic system separately and across prognostic systems. Objectives: This study aims to analyze patients with chronic lower limb lymphedema (LE) clinically, diagnostically and etiopathogenetically. Patients and methods: This single-center, retrospective national epidemiological study included a total of 558 patients (161 males, 397 females; median age: 43 years; range, 10 days to 94 years) with chronic lower limb LE who were treated in our department between January 2005 and January 2020. Primary and secondary LE were classified clinically by stage and severity and lymphoscintigraphically. Body mass index was calculated for the detection and classification of obesity. Results: A total of 72.5% of the patients had unilateral lower limb LE, while 27.5% had bilateral LE including lipolymphedema. The rate of the patients with obesity and pre-obesity was 71.2%. Primary LE patients (54.1%) were more common than those with secondary LE. The rates of clinical, clinical severity, and lymphoscintigraphic staging were 11.1%, 38%, and 28%, respectively for Stage I, 55.2%, 30.9%, and 42%, respectively for Stage II, and 33.7%, 31.1%, and 17%, respectively for Stage III. Complications were elephantiasis (13.3%), elephantiasis nostras verrucosa (3.0%), cellulitis (22.1%), erysipelas (2.3%), ulcer (2.6%), onychomycosis (27.4%), and lymphangiosarcoma (0.2%). Conclusion: Chronic LE is a challenging problem with poor quality of life, negative psychosocial effects, and disabling consequences, and it is of vital importance to recognize the disease in its early stages with awareness, diagnosis, and multidisciplinary approach. Objectives: The aim of the present study was to investigate gender composition of the editorial board members of the journals in the field of periodontology and implantology. Materials and Methods: A rigorous search was performed through Web of Science database to identify journals, scoping on the periodontology and implantology research fields. Data on journal's demographic information, gender of the editorial board members were gathered from the journals fulfilling the predefined inclusion/exclusion criteria. Variables including journal impact factor and quartiles were extracted as well. Results: The proportion of women in the editorial team in periodontology journals was 27.3%, whereas it was almost 19% in implantology journals. As for editorial leadership, these ratios were 22.1% and 19.8%, respectively. There were significantly less women than men in editor‐in‐chief position in periodontology journals (p = 0.042). Journal metrics had no impact on the gender distribution of editor‐in‐chief positions in both fields. Conclusions: Women seem to be under‐represented as editorial leaders or board members in journals of periodontology and implantology. The proportion of women in periodontology journals has increased in the last decade; however, there is still a clear need for further increase to have a gender balance. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Recent studies of international historical sociology have focused more on the interaction between the political and economic aspects of the world system compared to its cultural dimensions. In this article we want to address this lacuna with particular reference to the theory of Uneven and Combined Development (UCD here after). UCD is an attempt to develop a non-Eurocentric, non-linear, and historical understanding of international relations. It aims to provide a non-Eurocentric historiography and historical sociology that goes beyond binary oppositions of East and West, tradition and modernity, and emphasises non-Western agency in shaping historical developments. The cultural implications of UCD has recently been revived in world literature and cultural studies. We seek to contribute to this research by illustrating how UCD can help us understand the cultural implications of societal interaction through the use of Turkish literature, notably Peyami Safa's work. We want to focus on the theme of the interaction between the West and the East in his work within the context of the theory of UCD as an example of how it manifests itself in the cultural field. Accordingly, the article is structured as follows. The first section discusses the key features of UCD as they relate to our topic, and the second section goes on to examine processes of Westernisation as they have occurred in Turkey and attempts to demonstrate how UCD is reflected in the literature of the period. The third section aims to show how the concept of UCD can help us better understand the implications of societal interaction in Peyami Safa's work by addressing the various issues that are raised in Justin Rosenberg's approach to analysing world literature. The final section concludes with general observations concerning the potential utility of UCD-based methodologies in constituting the foundation of non-Western IR theories. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
