BackgroundIn Ethiopia, only 48% of all births occur at health facilities. Maternal disrespect and abuse by health care providers during child birth is one of the main reasons that affect health care seeking behaviors from health facilities. Thus, this study aims to assess magnitude of maternal disrespect and abuse during institutional delivery among postpartum women at Mizan -Tepi University Teaching Hospital (MTUTH), Bench Sheko Zone, South west EthiopiaMethodsInstitution-based cross-sectional study design was employed. A total of 409 postpartum women were enrolled using systematic random sampling technique between Augusts to September, in 2021. Pré-tested and structured questionnaire used for face-to-face interview. Data were coded, edited, and analyzed using SPSS version 25. Bivariate and multivariable logistic regression analyses were done. The presence and strength of association were determined using AOR with its 95% CI. Variables with P value of less than 0.05 were considered as statistically significantResultsAbout half (52.1%) of the postpartum women experienced at least one category of maternal disrespect and abuse during institutional delivery. No formal education status during labor [AOR=2.216; 95% CI:1.266, 3.879], delivery during night shifts [(AOR=2.2; 95% CI: 1.306, 3.772], living in rural area [AOR=3.014;95% CI:1.630,5.572], number of health provider 2-3[AOR=4.101; 95%CI:2.70,6.23] and number of health provider above three[AOR=8.13; 95%CI:2.12,5.62] were found to be strongly associated with reporting maternal disrespect and abuse.ConclusionsThe study highlights that large proportion of mothers are experiencing maternal disrespect and abuse during institutional delivery in this study setting. Thus, appropriate interventions should be designed, focusing on supervision during night shifts, empowering childbearing women about their rights at health facilities and providing training for health care providers about respectful maternity care need to be emphatise.

Back ground: The first case of COVID 19 in Ethiopia was confirmed on March 13, 2020. Currently the disease is highly spreading into almost all administrative regions of Ethiopia. COVID -19 is not only a health problem but also causes to the socio-economic crisis. Methods ; community based descriptive study design was conducted in Mizan aman town.Three kebeles were randomly selected from the five kebeles, by proportionally allocating the samples, to each kebeles, from shesheka 134, from Adiss ketema 166, from Kometa ketema,122 samples taken. Households from each kebele were selected by systematic random sampling. First house was selected randomly and every 12th house was selected for the study and one participant from each house was taken for interview by lottery method. Data were collected by using a structured questionnaire adapted from different literatures. Data collectors used interview methods by strictly using masks and keeping physical distances.Questionaire administered data collection was avoided during data collection time to reduce cross contamination. Data was entered in EpiData version 3.1 and exported to SPSS version 21 for analysis. Descriptive analysis was done to summarize the frequencies of correct and percentages. Variables whose p-value Result The percentage of the respondents who correctly answered fever, fatigue, dry cough and muscle ache can be one of the symptoms of COVID 19 was 94.9% and 74.8% of the respondents correctly answered that, stuffy nose, runny nose, and sneezing are additional symptoms of corona virus. According to the finding, 64.3% had confidence that Ethiopia can win the battle and the study participants who had optimistic attitude weather they go quarantine if infected was 70.6%. The study result showed that 64.3% visited the crowded place during the interview and 61.1% didn’t wear masks when leaving home, 50.8% of the respondents did not avoid cultural behaviors, such as shaking hands, only 48.4% have been practiced social distancing.

Background: Food borne diseases has remained a major global public health issue with substantial morbidity and mortality associated with the consumption of contaminated food staffs. Parasitic infection is among the major disease especially in developing countries and sub-Saharan countries.Objective:-This study was to determine the prevalence of intestinal parasites and associated factors among food handlers working in food and drink establishments at Mizan Aman town southwest Ethiopia.Method:- A community based cross sectional study was conducted in Mizan Aman town. A total of 418 food handlers from randomly selected 209 foods and drink establishments were interviewed and finally stool samples were taken. Parasitological assessment was performed by qualified laboratory technologists using the physiological saline for wet mount and zinc sulphate and formol ether concentration techniques were used. Data were analyzed using statistical SPSS version 21. P ≤0.05 was taken as statistically significantResult: The overall prevalence of intestinal parasites in Mizan Aman town was 26.1% .work experience >10 years (AOR=0.52,95% CI ;2.430,5.012),the food handlers who did not trimmed their finger,(AOR =1.89,95% CI :1.01,3.960) and using common knife for cutting raw meat and other foods (AOR=0.57, 95% CI : 3.61,5.54) were factors associated with parasitic infections. Conclusion: The magnitude of intestinal parasite in mizan aman town is high and work experience, finger trimming status, and using common knife for cutting raw meat and other foods were factors associated with the parasitic infections

Introduction Health care workers are the most affected part of the world population due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Countries prioritize vaccinating health workers against COVID-19 because of their susceptibility to the virus. However, the acceptability of the vaccine varies across populations. Thus, this study aimed to determine the health care worker’s intentions to accept the COVID-19 vaccine and its associated factors in southwestern Ethiopia, 2021. Methods A facility-based cross-sectional study was conducted among health care workers in public hospitals in southwestern Ethiopia from March 15 to 28, 2021. A simple random sampling method was used to select 405 participants from each hospital. Data were collected using self-administered questionnaires. Descriptive statistics, such as frequency and percentage, were calculated. Multivariable logistic regression was also performed to identify factors associated with health care worker’s intention to accept the COVID-19 vaccine. Statistically significant variables were selected based on p-values ( Result Among the respondents, 48.4% [95% CI: 38.6, 58.2] of health care workers intended to accept COVID-19. Intention to accept COVID-19 vaccination was significantly associated with physicians (AOR = 9.27, 95% CI: 1.27–27.32), professionals with a history of chronic illness (AOR = 4.07, 95% CI: 2.02–8.21), perceived degree of risk of COVID-19 infection (AOR = 4.63, 95% CI: 1.26–16.98), positive attitude toward COVID-19 prevention (AOR = 6.08, 95% CI: 3.39–10.91) and good preventive practices (AOR = 2.83, 95% CI: 1.58–5.08). Conclusion In this study, the intention of health care workers to accept the COVID-19 vaccine was low. Professional types, history of chronic illness, perceived degree of risk to COVID-19 infection, attitude toward COVID-19 and preventive practices were found to be factors for intention to accept COVID-19 vaccine in professionals. It is important to consider professional types, history of chronic illness, perceived degree of risk to COVID-19, attitude of professionals and preventive behaviors to improve the intention of professionals’ vaccine acceptance.
