In a making process, a craftsperson starts a dialogue with the environment, tools and materials that are essential to their professional practice. During this materially and bodily entangled process, the act of making is thinking per se: the forming of the material emerges through the interaction with the material and is thus simultaneous with, and intrinsic to, the creative process itself. This article presents a practiceled case study of material thinking in the context of contemporary ceramics that one of the authors experienced during a research period in New Zealand. By utilizing walking along the changing landscapes as a creative method, as well as interacting with local practitioners, the craftsperson collects natural minerals and follows the material’s flow, letting it actively shape the creative events. The encounter with soil-based materials in their different forms and working with them in renewed ways reveal how the material’s behaviours influence the craftsperson’s thinking and making. This studyshows that walking can facilitate the entanglement between the craftsperson’s knowledge and newly discovered materials, generating emotional and dialogical relationship with the environment, including human collaborators.

In this study, it was aimed to determine the opinions of school psychological counselors about the problems faced by refugee students in the educational institution they work in, and solution suggestions for these problems. In this study, case study, one of the qualitative research methods, was used and the study was designed with a embedded single case design. The participant group of the research consists of 10 school psychological counselors working in official education institutions within the Ministry of National Education, located in the Odunpazarı and Tepebaşı district centers of Eskişehir. Participants were determined by snowball sampling method. A semi-structured interview form was used as a data collection tool. After receiving expert opinions for the prepared interview questions, the interview form was given its final form. The interviews with the participant group were conducted online and lasted between 15-35 minutes. The data were analyzed by content analysis method. After coding the data, the themes of the coded data were written. In order to contribute to the validity of the research, direct quotations of the participant group were included in the findings section, and participant confirmation was carried out. In order to contribute to the reliability of the data analysis, two experts checked the consistency of the results with each other during the data analysis. In the study, it was concluded that refugee students have poor communication skills, insufficient ability to express and express themselves, and experience problems such as academic failure, social adaptation problems, inability to communicate with their environment, and difficulties in learning to read and write. In line with these results, suggestions were presented to school psychological counselors, classroom teachers and other employees involved in the process., Bu araştırmada okul psikolojik danışmanlarının çalıştıkları eğitim kurumunda bulunan mülteci öğrencilerin karşı karşıya kaldığı problemlere ilişkin görüşleri ile bu problemlere yönelik çözüm önerilerini belirlemek amaçlanmıştır. Bu çalışmada nitel araştırma yöntemlerinden durum çalışması kullanılmış ve çalışma iç içe geçmiş tek durum deseni ile desenlenmiştir. Araştırmanın katılımcı grubunu Eskişehir ili Odunpazarı ve Tepebaşı ilçe merkezlerinde bulunan ve MEB bünyesinde resmi öğretim kurumlarında görev yapan 10 okul psikolojik danışman oluşturmaktadır. Katılımcılar kartopu örnekleme yöntemiyle belirlenmiştir. Veri toplama aracı olarak yarı yapılandırılmış görüşme formu kullanılmıştır. Hazırlanan görüşme soruları için uzman görüşleri alındıktan sonra görüşme formuna son şekli verilmiştir. Katılımcı grup ile yapılan görüşmeler, çevrimiçi ortamda gerçekleştirilmiş ve 15-35 dakika arası değişen uzunlukta sürmüştür. Veriler içerik analizi yöntemi ile analiz edilmiştir. Verilerin kodlaması yapıldıktan sonra, kodlama yapılan verilerin temaları yazılmıştır. Araştırmanın geçerliliğine katkı sağlamak için, bulgular bölümünde katılımcı grubun doğrudan alıntılarına yer verilmiş ayrıca katılımcı teyidi gerçekleştirilmiştir. Veri analizinin güvenirliğine katkı sunmak için, veri analizi esnasında iki uzman tarafından sonuçların birbiri ile tutarlılığı kontrol edilmiştir. Veri toplama ve analiz bölümleri ayrıntılı açıklanarak, çalışmanın güvenirliğine katkı sunmak amaçlanmıştır. Araştırmada mülteci öğrencilerin Türkçeyi yeterli düzeyde bilmiyor olmaları nedeniyle iletişim becerilerinin zayıf, kendilerini anlatma ve ifade etme yeteneklerinin yetersiz olduğu, akademik anlamda başarısızlık, sosyal uyum problemleri, çevresiyle iletişim kuramama, okuma-yazma öğrenme noktasında zorlanma gibi sorunlar yaşadıkları sonuçlarına ulaşılmıştır. Ayrıca psikolojik danışmanların mülteci öğrencilerin duygu ve düşüncelerini anlamakta zorlandıkları ve buna bağlı olarak bu öğrencilere psikolojik destek sunma noktasında güçlük yaşadıkları, sınıf öğretmenlerinin de mülteci öğrencileri güçlü koşulsuz kabullerinin, bu öğrencilerin diğer öğrenciler tarafından kabul edilmesinde yardımcı olduğu sonuçlarına ulaşılmıştır. Bu sonuçlar doğrultusunda okul psikolojik danışmanlarına, sınıf öğretmenlerine ve süreçte yer alan diğer çalışanlara öneriler sunulmuştur.

With the purpose of examining and identifying the attainments of novice teachers from in-class, in-school, and out-of-school activities during the process of being a novice teacher, in accordance with the views of novice teachers, mentor teachers, and administrators; this research is a qualitative research with a phenomenological design. The data of the study were collected through semi-structured interviews with 40 novice teachers, 43 mentor teachers and 5 school administrators. Content analysis was done in the analysis of the data. As a result of the research, it can be said that there are attainments related to teaching-learning process and non-scheduled activities within the scope of in-class applications; attainments related to work and operations of schools, and duties and responsibilities of the school administration within the scope of in-school activities; and as for out-of-school activities, attainments such as familiarization with relevant institutions, organizations and people, acknowledgement of the city culture, and sharing of knowledge and experiences with experienced people stand out as themes.

Farklı disiplin alanlarında çalışan ya da öğrenim gören bireylerin öğretmenlik mesleğine yükledikleri anlamlara (metaforlararacılığıyla) ilişkin algılarını belirleyebilmek için geçerli ve güvenilir bir “Öğretmen Metaforu Ölçeği” geliştirmeninamaçlandığı bu araştırmada öncelikle alanyazın incelenmiş ve öğretmen kavramına yönelik geliştirilen metaforlarlistelenmiş ve belirli temalara ayrıştırılarak 40 maddelik bir ölçme aracı geliştirilmiştir. Geliştirilen bu araç uzmangörüşünden geçtikten sonra 2016 – 2017 öğretim yılı bahar döneminde Açıköğretim Fakültesi’nde öğrenim gören 658öğrenciye uygulanmıştır. Verilerin analizinde yapı geçerliliği için açımlayıcı faktör analizi, güvenirlik için ise iç tutarlıkkatsayısı hesaplaması, madde analizleri ve test yarılama yöntemlerinden yararlanılmıştır. Analizler sonucunda üç faktörle%41.32’lük varyans açıklayan, faktörlerinin güvenirlik değerleri .90 - .97 arasında değişen geçerli ve güvenilir bir ölçeğinoluştuğu görülmüştür.

Süsleme (tessellation); latince tessela (antik Roma mozaiklerinde kullanılan küçük fayans yada köşeli taşa verilen ad) kelimesinden gelmektedir. Britton, Seymor (1989) çalışmasında, süsleme, bir ya da daha fazla biçimde yapılmış, hiç boşluk kalmadan ve çakışma olmadan yüzeyi tamamen kaplayan bir desen olarak tanımlanmış, süslemeler iki boyutlu veya üç boyutlu da olabileceğini ve üç boyutlu süslemeler boşluğu kaplar iken iki boyutlu süslemeler yüzeyi kapladığını ifade etmişlerdir. Süsleme yapılırken farklı teknikler kullanılmaktadır. Bu tekniklerin içinde simetri çeşitlerinin kullanıldığı görülmektedir. Simetri; sanatçıların, mimarların ve bilim adamlarının bir çalışmadaki ahenkli düzeninde, bir heykelde, bir yapıda veya kristaller gibi doğa harikalarında ya da bitki, hayvan formlarında görülmektedir. Matematiğin bütününe bakıldığında da birçok alanda simetri kavramıyla karşılaşmak mümkündür. Field, Golubitsky (2009)'e göre simetri bir yaklaşımdır. Bu çalışmada orijinal çizimler kullanılarak; simetrinin çeşitleri, süsleme tekniklerinin (simetri çeşitleri ile) örnekleri verilmiş, simetri çeşitleri ile örüntü oluşturulup teknikleri nasıl uygulanacağı süslemenin nasıl oluşturulabileceği gösterilmiştir. Bu çalışma ile simetri ve süsleme sanatına yeni bir bakış getirilmiş olup ilgili literatüre yeni bir katkıda da bulunulmuştur. Tessellation comes from the word “tessela” (the name of cornered stone or small tile utilized in the archaic Rome tessellations). Britton, Seymour (1889) tessellation is identified as a pattern which completely covers the surface being made one or more than one way, leaving no spaces and no congruties, tessellation can also be two or three dimensional and while the three dimensional ones cover the space, two dimensional ones cover the surface at their study. Making tessellation, different technics are used. It can be seen that varieties of symmetry are used within these technics. Symmetry is seen in the harmonized array in a study made by the artists, arthitects and scientists, in a sculpture, in a construction or in natural wonders as the crystals or in the forms of plant or animal. When the Mathematic is wholly analyzed, it is possible to encounter the concept of symmetry to numerous fields. Symmetry is an approach according to Field, Golubitsky (2009). By using original designs in this study; the examples of varieties of symmetry and the technics of tessellation (with varieties of symmetry) were given, how to create the symmetry and how to apply the technics by making tessellation with varieties of symmetry were shown. With this study, not only a new aspect to tessellation and symmetry was brought but also a new contrubition to the literature was found.

Objective: Over half a million women develop breast cancer every year. Despite rising incidence, survival rates can be increased by public health efforts to promote routine self- examination and regular mammograms in order to detect cancer at an early stage.The objective of this study is to determine women’s awareness, practice and attitudes towards breast cancer and to be a guide for education programmes aimed at making women more informed and enabling them to act with more knowledge.Method: Questionnaires, composed of 26 questions, were conducted among 375 women living in different areas of Istanbul. Each completed questionnaire was analysed and graded according to participant’s level of information concerning breast cancer.Results: The level of information has a direct relationship with age, education and family income. Those with a good level of informationwere found to be: 57,6% of women above 51 years of age; 60% of all women who stated an income of above one billion TL, and; 62,2% of women graduated from a university.Conclusion: Health education on breast cancer should be provided especially to those with a poor level of information.Key Words: Breast cancer, Awareness, Attitude, Practice.

Pedagojik formasyon programına devam eden öğretmen adaylarının eleştirel okuma özyeterlik algıları ve yansıtıcı düşünme eğilimleri arasındaki ilişkiyi belirlemeyi amaçlayan bu araştırma tarama modelinde hazırlanmış nicel bir araştırmadır. Araştırmanın çalışma grubunu 2014 - 2015 öğretim yılı bahar döneminde Anadolu Üniversitesi'nde düzenlenen Pedagojik Formasyon Eğitimi Sertifika Programı'na devam eden 400 öğrenci oluşturmuştur. Araştırmanın verileri; Karadeniz (2014) tarafından geliştirilen "Eleştirel Okuma Özyeterlik Ölçeği" ve Semerci (2007) tarafından geliştirilen "Öğretmen ve Öğretmen Adayları için Yansıtıcı Düşünme Eğilimleri (YANDE) Ölçeği" ile toplanmıştır. Verilerin analizi sonucunda pedagojik formasyon sertifika programına devam eden öğretmen adaylarının eleştirel okuma özyeterlikleri ile yansıtıcı düşünme eğilimi düzeylerinin yüksek olduğu; her iki becerinin de cinsiyet, yaş ve mezuniyet durumuna göre farklılaşmadığı ve iki beceri arasında anlamlı bir ilişki olduğu bulgularına ulaşılmıştır., This research is a quantitative survey research which aims to determine the relationship between critical reading self-efficacy perceptions and reflective thinking tendencies of teacher candidates who were continuing to pedagogic formation program. The working group of the study consists of totally 400 students continuing Pedagogic Formation Program at Anadolu University in 2014 - 2015 spring school term. In the study Critical Reading Self - Efficacy Scale" which was first developed by Karadeniz (2014) and ''Reflective Thinking Tendency of Teachers and Pre-Service Teachers Scale'' which was first developed by Semerci (2007) was used as data collection tools. As a result of the study, it was found that the level of critical reading self - efficacy perception and reflective thinking tendency of students were high; that the scores of critical reading self-efficacy perception and reflective thinking tendency were not changed significantly according to gender, age and graduation kind variables; and there was a significant relationship between two skills.
