20. Photochromic apatite skeletal structure materials: recent advances and potential applications.

Abstract

Rare earth ion-doped inorganic photochromic (PC) materials have recently garnered increasing research interest due to their excellent reversibility, fatigue resistance, and diverse PC performances. Apatite-type materials, in particular, have emerged as a focal point, offering the potential for exchanging multiple cations and anions with stronger tolerance. In comparison to other inorganic PC materials, apatite-type PC materials exhibit more abundant color changes and absorption bands and centers, creating new and substantial opportunities for adjusting and optimizing PC properties, deepening the understanding of PC mechanisms, and enabling construction of novel PC materials and development of multifunctional applications. This review comprehensively summarizes and discusses recent progress in apatite-type PC materials. It covers various aspects, including the PC properties of reported apatite-type PC materials, the pivotal role of traps in PC reactions, the energy transfer mechanism between luminescent centers and color centers, the prediction of PC properties through first-principles calculations, and the systematic regulation of color changes and absorption bands and centers during PC reactions. Benefiting from multiple color variations and extensive absorption band regulation, apatite configuration PC materials exhibit broad prospects and significant potential for various frontier applications, such as optical modulation, photo-switching, anti-counterfeiting, erasable optical information storage, and temperature sensing. Subsequently, this review outlines some challenges and prospects in the research and design of apatite-type PC materials, aiming to guide the exploration of structural design of new inorganic PC materials, further regulating and controlling the PC effect and expanding practical application domains. 26. Judd-ofelt analysis of zinctellurite glass doped with neodymium nanoparticles.

Abstract

The Judd-Ofelt analysis of neodymium nanoparticles (NPs) doped zinctellurite glass denoted as Nd (NPs) – ZnTe glass were performed to determine their spectral parameters. A glass sample of Nd (NPs) – ZnTe glass with chemical composition of 0.47TeO2 + 0.2B2O3 + 0.29ZnO+0.05Nd2O3 was synthesized by using conventional melt quenching method. We select 0.05 mol fraction of Nd-NPs in tellurite glass as it gives the optimum results for glass stability and spectral intensities. The Judd-Ofelt parameters were determined by using least-square fitting method. It was found that the observed that Nd (NPs) – ZnTe glass exhibit judd-ofelt parameters as follows; Ω2 = 2.623, Ω4 = 0.174, Ω6 = 0.837 and found in the following Ω2 ˂ Ω4 ˂Ω6 trend. The hypersensitive transition was highly related to the Ω2 parameter. Furthermore, the hypersensitive at 4I9/2→4G5/2 transition affect the value of Ω2 which satisfies the selection rule Δs=0, Δl⩽2 andΔJ⩽2. The Ω4 parameter was related mainly to the bulk properties of the host matrix meanwhile the Ω6 parameter was related to the rigidity of the glass matrix. 27. Synergistic influence of neodymium oxide on optical nonlinearity of zinctellurite glass.

Abstract

We report on the optical nonlinearity of neodymium doped zinctellurite glass for the application of laser glass. A series of neodymium doped zinctellurite glass denoted as Nd-ZnTe glass with chemical composition of 0.47TeO2 + 0.2B2O3 + 0.29ZnO + 0.05Nd2O3 were successfully fabricated via using conventional melt quenching method. 0.05 mol fraction of neodymium oxide in tellurite glass was selected due to its excellent glass stability and optical nonlinearity. The nonlinear optical absorption and refraction were determined using Z-scan technique. It was found that the Nd-ZnTe glass possesses positive nonlinear refractive index. The high number of nonlinear refractive index is due to third-order response and high number of linear refractive index. It was confirmed that the nonlinear absorption was in saturation absorption. The obtaibed optical nonlinearities suggest that the glass materials are can be used as a laser glass. Hence, the studied glass is a good potential for laser applications. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

28. Extinction coefficient and fermi energy of zinctellurite glass doped with neodymium nanoparticles.

Abstract

The extinction coefficient and fermi energy of neodymium nanoparticles (Nd-NPs) in zinctellurite glass were studied. The series of Nd-NPs doped zinc-tellurite glass denoted as Nd (NPs) – ZnTe glass were fabricated via conventional melt quenching method. The extinction coefficient and fermi energy of the glass system were determine using least-square fitting method. It was revealed that the studied glass system exhibit reduction in extinction coefficient due to the change of wavelength. It was found that the Fermi energy decreases along with Nd-NPs concentration. The decreasing trend of Fermi energy, EF indicates the enhancement of semiconducting properties. Therefore, the studied glass system have an excellent potential to be utilized in semiconducting materials. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

29. Non-linear refractive index of Tellurite glass doped with Er3+ oxide for optoelectronic applications.

Abstract

The nonlinear refractive index and absoption of erbium oxide doped tellurite based glass have been studied. A series of erbium oxide doped tellurite glass denoted as Er-Te glass with chemical composition of 0.47TeO2 + 0.2B2O3 + 0.29ZnO + 0.04Er2O3 were fabricated via conventional melt quenching method. 0.04 mol fraction of erbium oxide in tellurite glass was chosen as it gives the optimum results for glass stability and optical nonlinearity. The Z-scan method was used to investigate third-order optical nonlinearity. The negative nonlinear refractive index of Er-Te glass has been discovered. The polarizability of tellurite glass and the significant effect of two-photon absorption are responsible for the large number of nonlinear refractive index (TPA). Based on these results, the studied glass is ideal as a medium in nonlinear optical fiber. Thus, the studied glass materials might be useful in photonic applications. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Abstract

This paper describes the creation of (SnO2)1-x(Ag2O)x nanocomposites films (x=0,0.2, and 0.4 wt) that are n-type gas-sensitive semiconductors that were made using the pulse laser deposition (PLD) process at room temperature (RT) on glass substrates. XRD, EDX, FESEM, and AFM are a used to explore the structural, compositional, and morphological characteristics of these films. In order to demonstrate optical properties and analyze the band gap energy of samples, a UV-vis spectrophotometer is used. The band gap of (SnO2)1-x(Ag2O)x nanocomposites noticed decrease ranging from 3.76 to 3.49 eV with increasing amount of Ag2O. These films' sensitivity and selectivity to the oxidizing gas NO2 are an evaluated at various temperatures. At a low operating temperature of 200 °C, a (SnO2)0.8(Ag2O)0.2 nanocomposites film exhibits extremely high responses values at 73.3% to NO2 compared to pure SnO2 (four orders of magnitude in the value of (Rg − Ra)/Ra; Rg and Ra are the resistance in NO2 and in air, respectively). It also exhibits excellent selectivity for NO2 gas. The impact of Ag2O on these films' sensing properties toward NO2 is an examined. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Abstract

NIR luminescent materials are widely available for biological applications, and the NIR emitting of Ho3+ ions has received widespread attention in the second biological window. In this work, Ca14Zn6Ga10O35 : Mn4+,Ho3+ luminescent materials were synthesized using a high temperature solid state method. Optical properties and energy transfer mechanisms have studied in detail. Upon UV‐vis light excitation, the Mn single doped Ca14Zn6Ga10O35 phosphors exhibit deep red and NIR emission centered at 712 and 1151 nm assigned to Mn4+ and Mn5+, respectively. Another stronger NIR emitting peaked at 1195 nm occurs when the Ho3+ ion is co‐doped into Ca14Zn6Ga10O35 : Mn4+. The energy transfer from Mn4+ to Ho3+ ion is performed through a resonant type by a dipole‐dipole interaction mechanism. In addition, the thermal stability of Ca14Zn6Ga10O35 : Mn4+,Ho3+ phosphor has been investigated, and the NIR emission of Ho3+ ion maintains more than half the strength at 423 K. The findings indicate that the as‐prepared Ca14Zn6Ga10O35 : Mn4+,Ho3+ luminescent materials hold promise for potential applications in the second biological window. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
