Abstract

Abstract The enzymes performing protein post-translational modifications (PTMs) form a critical post-translational regulatory circuitry that orchestrates literally all cellular processes in the organism. In particular, the balance between cellular stemness and differentiation is crucial for the development of multicellular organisms. Importantly, the fine-tuning of this balance on the genetic level is largely mediated by specific PTMs of histones including lysine methylation. Lysine methylation is carried out by special enzymes (lysine methyltransferases) that transfer the methyl group from S-adenosyl-L-methionine to the lysine residues of protein substrates. Set7/9 is one of the exemplary protein methyltransferases that however, has not been fully studied yet. It was originally discovered as histone H3 lysine 4-specific methyltransferase, which later was shown to methylate a number of non-histone proteins that are crucial regulators of stemness and differentiation, including p53, pRb, YAP, DNMT1, SOX2, FOXO3, and others. In this review we summarize the information available to date on the role of Set7/9 in cellular differentiation and tissue development during embryogenesis and in adult organisms. Finally, we highlight and discuss the role of Set7/9 in pathological processes associated with aberrant cellular differentiation and self-renewal, including the formation of cancer stem cells.

2. ASSESSMENT OF THE FUEL CONSUMPTION OF CARS BY SPECIFIC VALUES OF FUEL CONSUMPTION AND EFFECTIVE POWER

Abstract

The need to control fuel consumption during vehicle operation is considered. The analysis of analytical methods for assessing the fuel efficiency of vehicles is presented. The current in Ukraine norms of rationing of fuel consumption are analyzed. The main disadvantages of accounting for fuels and lubricants in our country and in other countries are indicated. A statistical assessment of fuel consumption indicators was carried out according to the methodology of the Ministry of Infrastructure of Ukraine. The graphical dependences of the distribution of fuel consumption for the main groups of cars, sawn out according to the data of regulatory and legal information, are obtained. A regression assessment of the relationship between fuel consumption and the main technical parameters of a vehicle has been performed. The parameters for a mathematical model for calculating fuel consumption for the main groups of vehicles in the agricultural sector are obtained - these are dump trucks and truck tractors. The adequacy of the model, the quality of the parameters, and the confidence interval of the domain of determination are assessed. It is proposed to combine several methods for standardizing fuel consumption, which will allow setting the standard value by a calculation method. An assessment was made of the consistency of the obtained regression model with the data that were obtained using the methodology that is used in KhNADU to calculate the base rate of fuel consumption. Comparison of fuel consumption rates obtained by different methods is given. An algorithm for the use of a regression model for the method of accounting for the consumption of fuels and lubricants at road transport enterprises has been developed. Conclusions are formulated and the ways of further research aimed at improving the methodology for standardizing fuel consumption in our country are indicated.

Abstract

The article provides a search and analysis of the design parameters of disc brake mechanisms that provide regulated braking efficiency and wear resistance of friction pairs in order to increase their durability. To assess the relative wear of the friction surfaces of the disc brake mechanisms of passenger cars, an assessment was made of the parameters that can characterize the wear of the interface. Abstract

The article proposes a method for assessing the change in the braking properties of passenger cars during operation following a change in the main characteristic of the brake system - the coefficient of distribution of braking forces between the axles of vehicles, both equipped and not equipped with tracking systems for the braking process by installing brake force regulators in the brake circuits, working according to different laws of changing the drive pressure. The aim of the work is a comparative assessment of the braking efficiency of passenger cars using the example of Lanos cars, the braking systems of which are equipped with various devices for changing the coefficient of distribution of braking forces between the axles, under changing operating conditions. It is known that braking efficiency is an indicator characterizing the braking properties and the ability of a car to maintain a given law of motion during braking, which is determined both by the nature of the adhesion properties of the wheels to the road and the capabilities of the braking system itself to implement these properties. Since the operating conditions of passenger cars significantly affect the braking properties, in order to ensure the required braking efficiency, it is necessary to take into account the change in the primary distribution coefficient of the braking forces generated by the braking mechanisms and the change in their implementation during the operation period. In order to assess the change in the braking properties in the general case of the operation of a passenger car, the dependence of the actual coefficient of distribution of braking forces between the axles on the braking coefficient was proposed. Moreover, the value of the coefficient of distribution of braking forces between the axles depends both on the type of laws of regulation of braking forces and on the residual values of the parameters of braking systems that determine these laws. These dependences on the parameters of the braking systems and the parameters of the passenger car in operation are a function of the goal for determining the residual output characteristics of its braking system.

Abstract

The article discusses a methodology for assessing the functional suitability of brake systems to change the braking path of passenger cars, taking into account various operating conditions. The goal is achieved by using the method of mathematical modeling of the emergency braking process, taking into account the possible operating conditions of cars performing emergency braking at certain initial speeds, in particular, exceeding 100 km / h. Based on the analysis of scientific sources, it has been established that the determination of the braking efficiency of a vehicle classically occurs on the verge of blocking all wheels with known methods of distributing braking forces between the axles of the vehicle. In this case, the standards set the maximum value of the minimum deceleration and braking distance. In addition, the jump in the maximum possible value of the braking force between the wheels of each axle makes it possible to compare it with the requirements of DSTU 3649: 2010, and the assessment of the magnitude of this jump for each braking of the car is to establish its functional suitability. As a result, according to the magnitude of the jump in the maximum possible value of the braking distance, the change in the maximum allowable braking force of the car sets, and according to the magnitude of its jump, it is possible to assess the functional suitability of its braking system. As a result, the use of expert information on the value of jumps in the maximum possible value of the braking force of a car, affecting the braking torques and braking coefficient, can reduce the amount of experimental research and significantly reduce the time to reach an objective decision on the functional suitability of the brake systems of operated cars. The paper presents the results of theoretical studies of passenger cars Chevrolet Aveo, Lada Priora and Forza with different loads, performing emergency braking at an initial speed of 40-150 km / h on a road with dry asphalt concrete. The boundaries of the coefficient of the relative change in the braking distance of the tested passenger car, at which it is possible to make a conclusion about the functional suitability of its braking system, have been established.

Abstract

The shear strength of a material is a constant for any point on the crack line. In this case, on the trajectory of maximum effective tangential stresses with the appearance of the first crack, spontaneous destruction of the body would occur. In real conditions, this does not happen. Layered rocks in the presence of cracks carry a certain load. The fact is that contact friction is inevitably involved in the fracture process and slip lines are not linear. During the destruction of brittle rocks with internal and external friction, the final result of the calculation of stresses at the crack tip in rock samples, and in general, in the massif, is significantly distorted. In the presence of contact tangential stresses, for example, from contact friction, the Coulomb criterion of the limiting state is met only locally, at the crack top. In other areas of the slip lines, the material is in an elastic state.Therefore, for layered rocks, this situation requires the development of a new approach to describing the process of local destruction, which must be taken into account.The purpose of this article is to develop a mathematical model and reveal the mechanism of local rock destruction.The work considers a cylindrical rock sample loaded with press plates with a distribution of contact stresses between the sample and the plate according to Prandtl.A mathematical model is proposed and the mechanism of local fracture is revealed, which consists in the formation of ultimate shear strength of rocks at the crack tops - ultimate effective shear stresses and effective shear stress values ​​that do not reach the shear strength at the points where their trajectories reach the boundary surface.A dependence is derived for calculating the tensile strength of cylindrical rock samples with a truncated pyramidal form of fracture using the tensile strength of the material, the angle of internal friction, and the coefficient of contact friction, which can be easily established experimentally in mining enterprises, where the calculation results can be quickly used.A comparison of the calculated values of the ultimate strength under uniaxial compression of the samples with the experimental ones convincingly indicates the high efficiency of the proposed analytical method.

Abstract

The article proposes a new approach to the localization of defects in digital very large integrated circuits (VLSI), which are currently widely used in digital signal processing systems. This approach made it possible to significantly reduce the labor intensity and development time of VLSI. The fact is that the technological preparation of their production includes over 800 operations with control of up to hundreds of parameters on each of them. Due to the large dimension of the problem, at present in production, complete control (traceability) of the results of testing digital VLSI is replaced by partial, which generally removes the question of its effectiveness due to human intervention in this process. In the article, for the first time, full traceability of the results of production control operations in automatic mode is realized, thanks to the constantly maintained two-way communications between adjacent operations of technological preparation of VLSI production.

Abstract

Based on the concept of a digital turn in sociology proposed by Professor S. Kravchenko, the author, using the example of specific sociological studies of Russian research centers, analyzes the influence of the level of digital literacy of the population on the prospects of digital transformations in society. Digital literacy is considered as an integral indicator, including information, technical, communicative and innovative component. In addition to age and gender differentiation, the level of digital literacy is also affected by settlement and territorial factors, confirming that there is an urgent problem of digital inequality. With the ethical side of information literacy, the situation is also ambiguous. This indicator shows how deeply a person reflects on the information found and used. 45% do not think about the benefits and harms of the information they receive on the Internet. The quality of information also becomes a very revealing factor — the majority of respondents are critical to the information received and its sources. More than 70% admit that the media they have chosen may not always provide information reliably. Unexpectedly, in addition to the social group of people with higher education, the greatest skepticism in this regard is also characteristic of young people. Information literacy of the younger generation and lower computer literacy of the older generation reveal a deformation of the socialization process due to the emergence of the phenomenon of “spiritual distance” between these generations. Abstract

The object of research is the process of thermal inspection of enclosing structures with the help of a thermal imager. One of the most problematic places of thermal imaging energy is the presence of a significant methodological error. The reason for this is a large number of factors affecting the process of measuring the temperature of the surfaces of objects in thermal imaging diagnostics. In the course of the study, methods were used to analyze and isolate the factors that have the greatest effect on the thermogram of the investigated object. Results are obtained on the evaluation of the influence degree of each influencing factor on the measurement result and the total methodical error from simultaneous influence of all influencing factors is estimated. The total methodical error of thermal imaging energy surveys (up to 4 %) is estimated. This is due to the fact that the proposed methods for improving the accuracy of energy audit have a number of features, in particular, the result of energy audit largely depends on the experience and qualification of the operator. But the use of the proposed recommendations allows the operator to make measurements at a high professional level. Thanks to this, it is possible to improve the accuracy of the energy audit. In comparison with similar known energy audit methods, the proposed method makes it possible: to reduce the methodical error of thermal imaging energy surveys, to increase the energy efficiency of buildings and to reduce the cost of their heating.

15. Diel feeding activity and resource partitioning of two sympatric gobiids in the Dniprodzerzhynsk Reservoir

Abstract

The diets of monkey goby, Neogobius fluviatilis, and racer goby, Babka gymnotrachelus, which are the most abundant gobiids in the Dniprodzerzhynsk Reservoir (Dnieper River, Ukraine), have been studied on a diel basis across three summer months at one sampling site of the reservoir littoral zone. In total, 37 prey items were identified in the monkey goby diet and 39 prey items were identified in the racer goby diet during the sampling period. The most important prey were chironomid larvae and pupae, copepods, cladocerans, mysids, and juvenile fish and their importance varied depending on goby size, diel period, and month. Both gobiids showed clear patterns in their diel feeding activities. Both species fed over a 24-h period, but the monkey goby fed more actively during the daytime, while the racer goby fed more at night. Peak chironomid larvae consumption by the monkey goby were from 10:00 to 14:00 and from 22:00 to 02:00,, while those by the racer goby were in the night-time from 18:00 to 6:00. The consumption of chironomid pupae peaked at dusk and night for both gobiids. Total diet overlap index between the two gobiids, during all months and diel periods combined was 78.6 and it varied between different length groups. The lowest diet overlap indices were observed between the smallest and largest length groups of the two species, while the highest overlap indices were observed between the same length classes of different species and between the neighbouring length groups of the same species. A negative relationship was observed between the difference in the mean lengths of two gobiid species and the diet overlap index. The monkey goby and racer goby can reduce their competition and be successive due to several factors: (i) different spawning periods allowing them to utilise food resources available for their juveniles at different periods; (ii) different habitat preferences resulting in (iii) somewhat different prey choices; (iv) different feeding activity periods.

Abstract

The study presents results of parasitological studies of the main industrial predatory fish species of Dnieper reservoirs (Kanev, Kremenchug, Dneprodzerzhinsk) and reports detection of larvae of nematodes, which were identified as Eustrongylides, in zander (Sander lucioperca) and perch (Perca fluviatilis). The incidence of invasion was 90 and 50%; invasion intensity was 10 and 7 larvae per fish in perch and zander, respectively. Infection with the above-mentioned parasites may become threatening. Abstract

Background: Patients with minor acute ischemic stroke or transient ischemic attack are at high risk for subsequent stroke, and more potent antiplatelet therapy in the acute setting is needed. However, the potential benefit of more intense antiplatelet therapy must be assessed in relation to the risk for major bleeding. The SOCRATES trial (Acute Stroke or Transient Ischemic Attack Treated With Aspirin or Ticagrelor and Patient Outcomes) was the first trial with ticagrelor in patients with acute ischemic stroke or transient ischemic attack in which the efficacy and safety of ticagrelor were compared with those of aspirin. The main safety objective was assessment of PLATO (Platelet Inhibition and Patient Outcomes)–defined major bleeds on treatment, with special focus on intracranial hemorrhage (ICrH). Methods: An independent adjudication committee blinded to study treatment classified bleeds according to the PLATO, TIMI (Thrombolysis in Myocardial Infarction), and GUSTO (Global Use of Strategies to Open Occluded Coronary Arteries) definitions. The definitions of ICrH and major bleeding excluded cerebral microbleeds and asymptomatic hemorrhagic transformations of cerebral infarctions so that the definitions better discriminated important events in the acute stroke population. Results: A total of 13 130 of 13 199 randomized patients received at least 1 dose of study drug and were included in the safety analysis set. PLATO major bleeds occurred in 31 patients (0.5%) on ticagrelor and 38 patients (0.6%) on aspirin (hazard ratio, 0.83; 95% confidence interval, 0.52–1.34). The most common locations of major bleeds were intracranial and gastrointestinal. ICrH was reported in 12 patients (0.2%) on ticagrelor and 18 patients (0.3%) on aspirin. Thirteen of all 30 ICrHs (4 on ticagrelor and 9 on aspirin) were hemorrhagic strokes, and 4 (2 in each group) were symptomatic hemorrhagic transformations of brain infarctions. The ICrHs were spontaneous in 6 and 13, traumatic in 3 and 3, and procedural in 3 and 2 patients on ticagrelor and aspirin, respectively. In total, 9 fatal bleeds occurred on ticagrelor and 4 on aspirin. The composite of ICrH or fatal bleeding included 15 patients on ticagrelor and 18 on aspirin. Independently of bleeding classification, PLATO, TIMI, or GUSTO, the relative difference between treatments for major/severe bleeds was similar. Nonmajor bleeds were more common on ticagrelor. Conclusions: Antiplatelet therapy with ticagrelor in patients with acute ischemic stroke or transient ischemic attack showed a bleeding profile similar to that of aspirin for major bleeds. Abstract

We investigate the logarithmic large deviation asymptotics for anisotropic norms of Gaussian random functions of two variables. The problem is solved by the evaluation of the anisotropic norms of corresponding integral covariance operators. We find the exact values of such norms for some important classes of Gaussian fields. Abstract

The current trends in development and deployment of advanced micro- and miniscale electromechanical systems (MEMS) have facilitated the unified fundamental, applied, and experimental research activities in the analysis and design of state-of-the-art motion devices (rotational and translational electromechanical motion devices), integrated circuits (ICs), and controllers. The objectives of this paper are to design, develop, and compare different control algorithms for high-performance MEMS with permanent-magnet rotational servo-motors controlled by ICs (VLSI driver–controller is fabricated using CMOS technology). The problems to be solved are very challenging because a number of long-standing issues in design, hardware integration, control, nonlinear analysis, and robustness have to be solved. The major emphases of this paper are the analysis and design of robust servo-systems, as well as the comparison of the dynamic performance of closed-loop MEMS with different control algorithms. We synthesize, verify, and test proportional–integral, integral with state feedback extension, relay, and sliding mode controllers. It is illustrated that the sliding mode control laws drive the states and tracking error to the switching surface and maintain (keep) the states and tracking error within this nonlinear switching surface in spite of different references, disturbances, parameter variations, and uncertainties. That is, robust tracking, desired accuracy, and disturbance attenuation are achieved. We report the experimental setup which was built to perform the advanced studies of high-performance MEMS. The testbed was built to integrate permanent-magnet microscale servo-motor and ICs (driver–controller).
