Pneumonia is of deep concern in healthcare worldwide, being the most deadly infectious disease, especially among children. Chest radiographs are crucial for detecting it. However, certain vulnerable groups exhibit heightened susceptibility, emphasizing the critical nature of accurate diagnosis and timely intervention. This paper presents convolutional neural network (CNN) models for the detection of pneumonia from chest X-rays images. Among 20 different CNN models, we identified EfficientNet-B0 as the most accurate and efficient, boasting an impressive accuracy rate of 94.13%. Furthermore, the precision, recall, and F-score metrics for this model stand at 93.50%, 92.99%, and 93.14%, respectively. This research underscores the potential of CNNs to revolutionize pneumonia diagnosis.

Effective waste management is becoming a crucial component of sustainable urban development as smart technologies are used by smart cities more and more. Smart trash categorization systems provided by IoT may greatly enhance garbage sorting and recycling mechanisms. In this context, this work presents a waste categorization model based on transfer learning using the VGG16 model for feature extraction and a Random Forest classifier tuned by Cat Swarm Optimization (CSO). On a Kaggle garbage categorization dataset, the model outperformed conventional models like SVM, XGBoost, and logistic regression. With an accuracy of 85% and a high AUC of 0.85 the Random Forest model shows better performance in precision, recall, and F1-score as compared to standard machine learning models. Wireless body sensor networks (WBSNs), or wireless body area networks (WBANs), represent an advanced class of sensor networks where small sensor nodes are either implanted within or attached to the human body. When these networks are integrated with the Internet of Things (IoT) in the healthcare sector, they are collectively referred to as the Internet of Medical Things (IoMT). Body sensor networks (BSNs) have become a pivotal technology in modern healthcare systems, enabling continuous and real-time monitoring of critical patient health metrics such as blood pressure, heart rate, body temperature, body motion, and movement. WBSNs face numerous major challenges that impact their efficiency and performance. Energy consumption remains a critical issue, as sensor nodes operate on limited power sources, leading to reduced network longevity. Signal path loss, caused by body interference and environmental factors, weakens communication reliability. Additionally, dual synchronization is vital for maintaining seamless communication, but managing synchronization between multiple nodes increases complexity and energy demand. Data latency can occur due to transmission delays, impacting real-time monitoring. Scalability challenges arise as networks expand, straining energy and communication resources, while security and privacy concerns persist due to the sensitive nature of medical data, requiring robust protection mechanisms. These issues are the focus of ongoing research aimed at enhancing WBSN performance in healthcare applications. In this paper, we introduce a novel routing protocol, energy-efficient synchronization for body sensor networks (EESBSN), aimed at overcoming these challenges. The proposed EESBSN protocol incorporates a dual synchronization mechanism designed to minimize signal path loss and prevent rapid energy depletion in sensor nodes. Furthermore, it leverages multi-path communication strategies to optimize energy efficiency and extend the operational life span of the network. By utilizing intelligent transponder node selection, EESBSN ensures an even distribution of energy consumption across the network, thereby enhancing its overall stability. Simulation results demonstrate that EESBSN significantly outperforms existing protocols such as CRPBA, H-SAMER, HCEL, SEBA, WHOOPH, and TSFIS-GWO in terms of network stability and performance. Enhancement of security, personalization, and safety in advanced transportation systems depends on driver identification. In this context, this work suggests a new method to find drivers by means of a Random Forest model optimized using the osprey optimization algorithm (OOA) for feature selection and the salp swarm optimization (SSO) for hyperparameter tuning based on driving behavior. The proposed model achieves an accuracy of 92%, a precision of 91%, a recall of 93%, and an F1-score of 92%, significantly outperforming traditional machine learning models such as XGBoost, CatBoost, and Support Vector Machines. These findings show how strong and successful our improved method is in precisely spotting drivers, thereby providing a useful instrument for safe and quick transportation systems. This paper introduces a novel energy-efficient lightweight, void hole avoidance, localization, and trust-based scheme, termed as Energy-Efficient and Trust-based Autonomous Underwater Vehicle (EETAUV) protocol designed for 6G-enabled underwater acoustic sensor networks (UASNs). The proposed scheme addresses key challenges in UASNs, such as energy consumption, network stability, and data security. It integrates a trust management framework that enhances communication security through node identification and verification mechanisms utilizing normal and phantom nodes. Furthermore, a 6G communication module is deployed to reduce network delay and enhance packet delivery, contributing to more efficient data transmission. Leveraging Autonomous Underwater Vehicles (AUVs), the EETAUV protocol offers a lightweight approach for node discovery, identification, and verification while ensuring a high data transmission rate through a risk-aware strategy including at low computational cost. The protocol's performance is evaluated through extensive simulations and compared against state-of-the-art methods across various metrics, including network lifetime, throughput, residual energy, packet delivery ratio, mean square error, routing overhead, path loss, network delay, trust, distance, velocity, Computational Cost of Routing, and data security. The results demonstrate the superior cumulative performance of the proposed EETAUV scheme, making it a robust solution for secure, efficient, and reliable communication in UASNs. Phishing attacks are more than two-decade-old attacks that attackers use to steal passwords related to financial services. After the first reported incident in 1995, its impact keeps on increasing. Also, during COVID-19, due to the increase in digitization, there is an exponential increase in the number of victims of phishing attacks. Many deep learning and machine learning techniques are available to detect phishing attacks. However, most of the techniques did not use efficient optimization techniques. In this context, our proposed model used random forest-based techniques to select the best features, and then the Brown-Bear optimization algorithm (BBOA) was used to fine-tune the hyper-parameters of the convolutional neural network (CNN) model. To test our model, we used a dataset from Kaggle comprising 11,000+ websites. In addition to that, the dataset also consists of the 30 features that are extracted from the website uniform resource locator (URL). The target variable has two classes: "Safe" and "Phishing." Due to the use of BBOA, our proposed model detects malicious URLs with an accuracy of 93% and a precision of 92%. In addition, comparing our model with standard techniques, such as GRU (Gated Recurrent Unit), LSTM (Long Short-Term Memory), RNN (Recurrent Neural Network), ANN (Artificial Neural Network), SVM (Support Vector Machine), and LR (Logistic Regression), presents the effectiveness of our proposed model. Phishing attacks seriously threaten information privacy and security within the Internet of Things (IoT) ecosystem. Numerous phishing attack detection solutions have been developed for IoT; however, many of these are either not optimally efficient or lack the lightweight characteristics needed for practical application. This paper proposes and optimizes a lightweight deep-learning model for phishing attack detection. Our model employs a two-fold optimization approach: first, it utilizes the analysis of the variance (ANOVA) F-test to select the optimal features for phishing detection, and second, it applies the Cuckoo Search algorithm to tune the hyperparameters (learning rate and dropout rate) of the deep learning model. Additionally, our model is trained in only five epochs, making it more lightweight than other deep learning (DL) and machine learning (ML) models. The proposed model achieved a phishing detection accuracy of 91%, with a precision of 92% for the 'normal' class and 91% for the 'attack' class. Moreover, the model's recall and F1-score are 91% for both classes. We also compared our approach with traditional DL/ML models and past literature, demonstrating that our model is more accurate. Phishing attacks present a serious threat to enterprise systems, requiring advanced detection techniques to protect sensitive data. This study introduces a phishing email detection framework that combines Bidirectional Encoder Representations from Transformers (BERT) for feature extraction and CNN for classification, specifically designed for enterprise information systems. BERT's linguistic capabilities are used to extract key features from email content, which are then processed by a convolutional neural network (CNN) model optimized for phishing detection. Achieving an accuracy of 97.5%, our proposed model demonstrates strong proficiency in identifying phishing emails. Ad hoc networks offer promising applications due to their ease of use, installation, and deployment, as they do not require a centralized control entity. In these networks, nodes function as senders, receivers, and routers. One such network is the Flying Ad hoc Network (FANET), where nodes operate in three dimensions (3D) using Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) that are remotely controlled. With the integration of the Internet of Things (IoT), these nodes form an IoT-enabled network called the Internet of UAVs (IoU). However, the airborne nodes in FANET consume high energy due to their payloads and low-power batteries. An optimal routing approach for communication is essential to address the problem of energy consumption and ensure energy-efficient data transmission in FANET. This paper proposes a novel energy-efficient routing protocol named the Integrated Energy-Efficient Distributed Link Stability Algorithm (IEE-DLSA), featuring a relay mechanism to provide optimal routing with energy efficiency in FANET. The energy efficiency of IEE-DLSA is enhanced using the Red-Black (R-B) tree to ensure the fairness of advanced energy-efficient nodes. Maintaining link stability, transmission loss avoidance, delay awareness with defined threshold metrics, and improving the overall performance of the proposed protocol are the core functionalities of IEE-DLSA. The simulations demonstrate that the proposed protocol performs well compared to traditional FANET routing protocols. The task of finding natural groupings within a dataset exploiting proximity of samples is known as clustering, an unsupervised learning approach. Density-based clustering algorithms, which identify arbitrarily shaped clusters using spatial dimensions and neighbourhood aspects, are sensitive to the selection of parameters. For instance, DENsity CLUstEring (DENCLUE)—a density-based clustering algorithm—requires a trial-and-error approach to find suitable parameters for optimal clusters. Earlier attempts to automate the parameter estimation of DENCLUE have been highly dependent either on the choice of prior data distribution (which could vary across datasets) or by fixing one parameter (which might not be optimal) and learning other parameters. This article addresses this challenge by learning the parameters of DENCLUE through the differential evolution optimisation technique without prior data distribution assumptions. Experimental evaluation of the proposed approach demonstrated consistent performance across datasets (synthetic and real datasets) containing clusters of arbitrary shapes. The clustering performance was evaluated using clustering validation metrics (e.g., Silhouette Score, Davies–Bouldin Index and Adjusted Rand Index) as well as qualitative visual analysis when compared with other density-based clustering algorithms, such as DPC, which is based on weighted local density sequences and nearest neighbour assignments (DPCSA) and Variable KDE-based DENCLUE (VDENCLUE). Phishing attacks present a persistent and evolving threat in the cybersecurity land-scape, necessitating the development of more sophisticated detection methods. Traditional machine learning approaches to phishing detection have relied heavily on feature engineering and have often fallen short in adapting to the dynamically changing patterns of phishing Uniform Resource Locator (URLs). Addressing these challenge, we introduce a framework that integrates the sequential data processing strengths of a Recurrent Neural Network (RNN) with the hyperparameter optimization prowess of the Whale Optimization Algorithm (WOA). Our model capitalizes on an extensive Kaggle dataset, featuring over 11,000 URLs, each delineated by 30 attributes. The WOA's hyperparameter optimization enhances the RNN's performance, evidenced by a meticulous validation process. The results, encapsulated in precision, recall, and F1-score metrics, surpass baseline models, achieving an overall accuracy of 92%. This study introduces a long-short-term memory (LSTM)-based neural network model developed for detecting anomaly events in care-independent smart homes, focusing on the critical application of elderly fall detection. It balances the dataset using the Synthetic Minority Over-sampling Technique (SMOTE), effectively neutralizing bias to address the challenge of unbalanced datasets prevalent in time-series classification tasks. The proposed LSTM model is trained on the enriched dataset, capturing the temporal dependencies essential for anomaly recognition. The model demonstrated a significant improvement in anomaly detection, with an accuracy of 84%. Object recognition presents considerable difficulties within the domain of computer vision. Field-Programmable Gate Arrays (FPGAs) offer a flexible hardware platform, having exceptional computing capabilities due to their adaptable topologies, enabling highly parallel, high-performance, and diverse operations that allow for customized reconfiguration of integrated circuits to enhance the effectiveness of object detection accelerators. However, there is a scarcity of assessments that offer a comprehensive analysis of FPGA-based object detection accelerators, and there is currently no comprehensive framework to enable object detection specifically tailored to the unique characteristics of FPGA technology. The You Only Look Once (YOLO) algorithm is an innovative method that combines speed and accuracy in object detection. This study implemented the YOLOv5 algorithm on a Xilinx® Zynq-7000 System on a Chip (SoC) to perform real-time object detection. Using the MS-COCO dataset, the proposed study showed an improvement in resource utilization with approximately 42 thousand (78%) look-up tables, 56 thousand (52%) flip-flops, 65 (46%) BRAMs, and 19 (9%) DSPs at a frequency of 250 MHz, improving the effectiveness compared to previous simulated results. Contemporarily numerous analysts labored in the field of Vehicle detection which improves Intelligent Transport System (ITS) and reduces road accidents. The major obstacles in automatic detection of tiny vehicles are due to occlusion, environmental conditions, illumination, view angles and variation in size of objects. This research centers on tiny and partially occluded vehicle detection and identification in challenging scene specifically in crowed area. In this paper we present comprehensive methodology of tiny vehicle detection using Deep Neural Networks (DNN) namely CenterNet. Substantially DNN disregards objects that are small in size 5 pixels and more false positives likely to happen in crowded area. Primarily there are two categories of deep learning models single-step and two-step. A single forward pass model is the one in which detection is performed directly to possible location over dense sampling, wherein two-step models incorporated by Region proposals followed by object detection. We in this research scrutinize one-step State of the art (SOTA) model CenteNet as proposed recently with three different feature extractor ResNet-50, HourGlass-104 and ResNet-101 one by one. We train our model on challenging KITTI dataset which outperforms in comparison with SOTA single-step technique MSSD300* which depicts performance improvement by 20.2%mAPandSMOKEby with 13.2% mAP respectively. Effectiveness of CenterNet can be justified through the huge improved performance. The performance of our model is evaluated on KITTI (Karlsruhe Institute of Technology and Toyota Technological Institute) benchmark dataset with different backbones such as ResNet-50 gives 62.3% mAP ResNet-101 82.5% mAP, last but not the least HourGlass-104 outperforms with 98.2% mAP CenterNet-HourGlass-104 achieved high mAP among above mentioned feature extractors.
