This study addresses the pervasive challenges of low hepatitis B (HBV) and hepatitis C (HCV) testing rates coupled with the stigma associated with these diseases in low‐ and middle‐income countries (LMICs) with a special focus on Bangladesh. This study aims to introduce an innovative crowdsourcing intervention that involves medical students, a crucial cohort with the potential to shape healthcare attitudes. Through a structured crowdsourcing approach, the study designs and implements a digital intervention to counter stigma and promote testing among medical students in Dhaka, Bangladesh. Participants submitted brief videos or texts aiming to encourage hepatitis testing and reduce stigma. The call, advertised through meetings, emails, and social media, welcomed entries in English or Bengali over 3 weeks. A panel of six judges evaluated each entry based on clarity, impact potential, innovation, feasibility, and sustainability, awarding prizes to students behind the highest‐rated submissions. Seventeen videos and four text messages received an average score of 5.5 among 440 surveyed medical students, predominantly 22 years old (16%) and in their fourth year (21%). After viewing, 360 students underwent screening, identifying two previously undiagnosed HBV cases referred for care; no HCV infections were found. Notably, 41% expressed concerns about individuals with HBV working in hospitals or having a doctor living with HBV. In conclusion, this pilot showcases the power of medical students in spearheading campaigns to counter hepatitis stigma and encourage testing. By utilizing crowdsourcing, the study introduces an innovative approach to a persistent issue in LMICs specially in Bangladesh, offering a model that could potentially be adapted by other regions grappling with similar challenges. Congenital arhinia-microphthalmos syndrome or BOSMA syndrome is an exceptionally rare clinical syndrome characterized by unilateral or bilateral complete absence of the nasal cavity associated with several craniofacial, ocular, and systemic anomalies. Lacrimal drainage anomalies are secondary to absent nasolacrimal duct and usually present as dilated lacrimal sac or mucoceles. While navigation-guided dacryocystorhinostomies into the contralateral nasal cavity are described for unilateral arhinia, the way forward for the complete absence of the nose and nasal cavity is still unclear. A multidisciplinary team from the specialties of genetics, plastic surgery, ophthalmic plastics and reconstructive surgery, otorhinolaryngology, and endocrinology should get involved very early on for better continuity of care. Reactive oxygen species (ROS) can serve as signaling molecules that are essential for plant growth and development but abiotic stress can lead to ROS increases to supraoptimal levels resulting in cellular damage. To ensure efficient ROS signaling, cells have machinery to locally synthesize ROS to initiate cellular responses and to scavenge ROS to prevent it from reaching damaging levels. This review summarizes experimental evidence revealing the role of ROS during multiple stages of plant reproduction. Localized ROS synthesis controls the formation of pollen grains, pollen−stigma interactions, pollen tube growth, ovule development, and fertilization. Plants utilize ROS‐producing enzymes such as respiratory burst oxidase homologs and organelle metabolic pathways to generate ROS, while the presence of scavenging mechanisms, including synthesis of antioxidant proteins and small molecules, serves to prevent its escalation to harmful levels. In this review, we summarized the function of ROS and its synthesis and scavenging mechanisms in all reproductive stages from gametophyte development until completion of fertilization. Additionally, we further address the impact of elevated temperatures induced ROS on impairing these reproductive processes and of flavonol antioxidants in maintaining ROS homeostasis to minimize temperature stress to combat the impact of global climate change on agriculture. Obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) is a chronic condition affecting up to 1 billion people, globally. Despite this spread, OSA is still thought to be underdiagnosed. Lack of diagnosis is largely attributed to the high cost, resource-intensive, and time-consuming nature of existing diagnostic technologies during sleep. As individuals with OSA do not show many symptoms other than daytime sleepiness, predicting OSA while the individual is awake (wakefulness) is quite challenging. However, research especially in the last decade has shown promising results for quick and accurate methodologies to predict OSA during wakefulness. Furthermore, advances in machine learning algorithms offer new ways to analyze the measured data with more precision. With a widening research outlook, the present review compares methodologies for OSA screening during wakefulness, and recommendations are made for avenues of future research and study designs. We aim to provide a detailed and updated literature review on the epidemiology, etiology, clinical presentations, histopathology, and ultrastructural features of punctal stenosis. There are inconsistencies in the definition and staging of punctal stenosis. While advanced optical coherence tomography imaging techniques have revolutionized the way the punctum and vertical canaliculi are assessed or monitored following treatment, the planes of measurement to characterize punctum anatomy need to evolve further. The current criteria for diagnosing and grading punctal stenosis are inadequate and based on empirical clinical findings. There is increasing evidence of the role of lymphocytes and myofibroblasts in the pathogenesis of punctal stenosis. There is a need for a uniform assessment of punctal stenosis and a uniform reporting of severity that would help standardize the several management options available in the lacrimal armamentarium. A total of 360 fecal samples were randomly collected from 150 cattle, 150 sheep, and 60 humans (30 people with close animal contact and 30 individuals without close animal contact) at 10 farms in Ilam, western Iran from June 2022 to August 2023. All samples were directly examined for Blastocystis by zinc sulfate flotation, followed by microscopic observation. Positive samples were further subtyped using conventional PCR and sequencing methods. A mean prevalence of 5.3% (16/300) was estimated for Blastocystis infection among examined animals, with 6% and 4.7% for cattle and sheep, respectively. Among the people who had close and non‐close animal contact, 16.7% (5/30) and 3.3% (1/30) were infected with Blastocystis, respectively (p < 0.05). All 22 positive samples were successfully sequenced at the SSU rRNA locus. Accordingly, Blastocystis isolates infecting domestic animals in Ilam belonged to the four STs (ST1‐ST3, and ST10). Of the 16 animal isolates, nine sequences (four ST10, three ST3, and two ST1) were related to cattle, and seven sequences (three ST10, two ST3, and two ST2) were isolated from sheep. Among the six human isolates, ST3 was the most predominant ST, followed by STs 1, 2, 6, and 7 (one case each). Of note, ST1‐ST3 were isolated in various farms both from animals and their breeders, which indicates the possible circulation of these STs between animal and human populations. The molecular orientation of liquid crystalline (LC) hydrogels has the potential to induce a range of functionalities that can deliver great mechanical strength. Sacran is a supergiant LC polysaccharide isolated from the cyanobacterium Aphanothece sacrum with a high amount of anionic functional groups such as sulfates and carboxylates. In this article, ultra-strong sacran hydrogels and their dried fibers were produced by cross-linking under injection flow with trivalent metal ions such as Al3+, Cr3+, Fe3+, In3+, and rare-earth metal ions such Er3+ and Sr3+. Crossed-polarizing microscopy and X-ray diffraction imaging revealed a uniaxial molecular orientation in the LC gel fiber, resulting in outstanding mechanical characteristics. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Evidence suggests that insulin resistance plays an important role in developing diabetes complications. The association between insulin resistance and pain perception is less well understood. This study aimed to investigate the effects of peripheral insulin deficiency on pain pathways in the brain. Diabetes was induced in 60 male rats with streptozotocin (STZ). Insulin was injected into the left ventricle of the brain by intracerebroventricular (ICV) injection, then pain was induced by subcutaneous injection of 2.5% formalin. Samples were collected at 4 weeks after STZ injection. Dopamine (DA), serotonin, reactive oxygen species (ROS), and mitochondrial glutathione (mGSH) were measured by ELISA, and gene factors were assessed by RT‐qPCR. In diabetic rats, the levels of DA, serotonin, and mGSH decreased in the nuclei of the thalamus, raphe magnus, and periaqueductal gray, and the levels of ROS increased. In addition, the levels of expression of the neuron‐specific enolase and receptor for advanced glycation end genes increased, but the expression of glial fibrillary acidic protein expression was reduced. These results support the findings that insulin has an analgesic effect in non‐diabetic rats, as demonstrated by the formalin test. A sustainable methodology for the synthesis of pyrano [2,3-d] pyrimidine scaffolds have been developed, employing the Knoevenagel-Michael tandem cyclocondensation reaction of barbituric acid/1,3-dimethylbarbituric acid, malononitrile, and aryl aldehydes. This study elucidates the advancement of a sustainable and environmentally conscious approach to synthesizing this category of chemical compounds. In the present investigation, a novel photosensitizer comprising proflavine (PFH+) bio-photocatalyst was employed in an aqueous medium, subjected to air atmosphere at room temperature, and stimulated by a blue-light-emitting diode (LED) to harness renewable energy. The fundamental objective of this initiative is to utilize a photosensitizer (PS) biocatalyst that has been recently developed, can be conveniently acquired, and is priced affordably. The proflavine (PFH+) photocatalyst, demonstrates the ability to initiate photoinduced-electron transfer (PET) through exposure to visible light. This property endows the photocatalyst with a practical and efficient method of achieving high effectiveness, energy efficiency, and environmentally friendly outcomes. The current research endeavor has the objective of examining the turnover number (TON) and turnover frequency (TOF) pertaining to pyrano [2,3-d] pyrimidine scaffolds. Background and aim: Morinda citrifolia fruit juice (noni) is an herbal remedy documented to have antioxidant properties. It has been suggested that prevention of carcinogen-DNA adduct formation and the antioxidant activity of NJ may contribute to the cancer preventive effect. In the present study, the antitumor activity of noni was investigated in the presence of cyclophosphamide (CYL) in vitro and in vivo. Methods: In vitro breast cancer cells (MDA-MB-468) were used to measure the percentage of inhibition and the IC50. The in vivo antitumor activity of noni was studied by monitoring the mean survival time (MST), percentage increase in life span (%ILS), viable and non-viable cell count, tumor volume, body weight, and hematological and serum biochemical parameters in mice. Treatment with noni and CYL exhibited dose- and time-dependent cytotoxicity toward breast cancer cells. Results: Individual treatment of noni and CYL exhibited dose- and time-dependent cytotoxicity on breast cancer cell lines, while in combination therapy of noni and CYL, noni enhances cytotoxic effect of CYL at 48 h than that at 24 h. Similar result was found in in vivo studies, the results of which revealed that alone treatment of CYL and noni suppressed tumor growth. However, combination treatment with CYL and noni presented better tumor inhibition than that of alone treatment of CYL and noni. On the contrary, CYL alone drastically attenuated hematological parameters, i.e., RBC, WBC, and Hb compared to normal and control groups, and this change was reversed and normalized by noni when given as combination therapy with CYL. Moreover, the levels of serum biochemical markers, i.e., AST, ALP, and ALT, were significantly increased in the control and CYL-treated groups than those in the normal group. In the combination treatment of noni and CYL, the above biochemical marker levels significantly decreased compared to CYL alone-treated group. Conclusions: The present study suggested that CYL treatment can cause serious myelotoxicity and hepatic injury in cancer patients. In conclusion, the combined use of noni with CYL potentially enhances the antitumor activity of CYL and suppresses myelotoxicity and hepatotoxicity induced by CYL in tumor-bearing mice. Video game addiction (VGA) is associated with cognitive problems, particularly deficits in inhibitory control. The present study aimed to investigate behavioural responses and event‐related potential associated with specific response inhibition using the cued Go/NoGo task to examine the effects of VGA on brain activity related to response inhibition. Twenty‐five individuals addicted to video games (action video games) and 25 matched healthy controls participated in the study. The results showed that the VGA group had significantly more commission error in the NoGo trials and faster reaction time in the Go trials compared with the control group. The event‐related potential analyses revealed significant reductions in amplitudes of N2 cue and N2 NoGo in the VGA group. While there was no significant difference between the N2 amplitudes of the Go and NoGo trials in the VGA group, the control group had a larger N2 amplitude in the NoGo trials. These results indicate that VGA subjects have difficulties in the early stages of response inhibition, as well as some level of impairment in proactive cognitive control. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Background: Organic dyes often have shorter lifetimes in the excited state, which is a major obstacle to the development of effective photoredox methods. The scientific community has shown a great deal of interest in a certain class of organic chromophores because of their unique characteristics and effectiveness. One characteristic of the molecules under research is thermally activated delayed fluorescence (TADF), which is only observed in molecules with a tiny energy gap (often less than 0.2 eV) between their lowest two excited states, i.e., singlet excited state (S1) and triplet excited state (T1). The extended singlet excited states arising from TADF and the simplicity with which their redox potentials may be altered make the isophthalonitrile family of chromophores an attractive option for organic photocatalyst applications. Methods: The Biginelli reaction between β-ketoesters, arylaldehydes, and urea/ thiourea has been used to build a sustainable technique for the production of 3,4- dihydropyrimidin-2-(1H)-one/thione derivatives. In the present study, the development of a green radical synthesis approach for this class of compounds is addressed in depth. As a photocatalyst, a new halogenated dicyanobenzene-based photosensitizer was employed in this study. As a renewable energy source activated by a blue LED, it was dissolved in ethanol, at room temperature in air atmosphere. The primary objective of this research is to employ a novel donor-acceptor (D-A) based on halogenated cyanoarene that is affordable, easily available, and innovative. Findings: The 3DPAFIPN [2,4,6-tris(diphenylamino)-5-fluoroisophthalonitrile] photocatalyst, a thermally activated delayed fluorescence (TADF), induces single-electron transfer (SET) in response to visible light, offering a straightforward, eco-friendly, and highly efficient process. Additionally, we determined the 3,4-dihydropyrimidin-2-(1H)-one/thione derivatives turnover frequency (TOF) and turnover number (TON). Background: Interspecific hybridisation is a powerful tool for increasing genetic diversity in plant breeding programmes. Hexaploid wheat (Triticum aestivum, 2n = 42) × barley (Hordeum vulgare, 2n = 14) intergeneric hybrids can contribute to the transfer of agronomically useful traits by creating chromosome addition or translocation lines as well as full hybrids. Information on the karyotype of hybrid progenies possessing various combinations of wheat and barley chromosomes is thus essential for the subsequent breeding steps. Since the standard technique of chromosome in situ hybridisation is labour-intensive and requires specific skills. a routine, cost-efficient, and technically less demanding approach is beneficial both for research and breeding. Results: We developed a Multiplex Polymerase Chain Reaction (MPCR) method to identify individual wheat and barley chromosomes. Chromosome-specific primer pairs were designed based on the whole genome sequences of 'Chinese Spring' wheat and 'Golden Promise' barley as reference cultivars. A pool of potential primers was generated by applying a 20-nucleotide sliding window with consecutive one-nucleotide shifts on the reference genomes. After filtering for optimal primer properties and defined amplicon sizes to produce an ordered ladder-like pattern, the primer pool was manually curated and sorted into four MPCR primer sets for the wheat A, B, and D sub-genomes, and for the barley genome. The designed MPCR primer sets showed high chromosome specificity in silico for the genome sequences of all 18 wheat and barley cultivars tested. The MPCR primers proved experimentally also chromosome-specific for the reference cultivars as well as for 13 additional wheat and four barley genotypes. Analyses of 16 wheat × barley F1 hybrid plants demonstrated that the MPCR primer sets enable the fast and one-step detection of all wheat and barley chromosomes. Finally, the established genotyping system was fully corroborated with the standard genomic in situ hybridisation (GISH) technique. Conclusions: Wheat and barley chromosome-specific MPCR offers a fast, labour-friendly, and versatile alternative to molecular cytogenetic detection of individual chromosomes. This method is also suitable for the high-throughput analysis of distinct (sub)genomes, and, in contrast to GISH, can be performed with any tissue type. The designed primer sets proved to be highly chromosome-specific over a wide range of wheat and barley genotypes as well as in wheat × barley hybrids. Cystic echinococcosis (CE) is a parasitic disease caused by the larval stages of Echinococcus and is considered a neglected disease of public health worldwide. CE primarily affects the liver and demonstrates distinctive radiological findings in computed tomography (CT) and ultrasonography (US). Surgery is considered the mainstay of CE treatment. The patient was a 17-year-old man admitted to the Emergency Department of Shahid Faghihi Hospital affiliated with Shiraz University of Medical Sciences with dull right upper quadrant abdominal pain, loss of appetite, abdominal distention, and fullness. An abdominal CT scan revealed a giant hepatic cyst measuring about 24x20x15 cm in the right hepatic lobe (RHL) with a pressure effect on the right kidney, pancreas, and bowel loops. Semi-chevron incision was done and the patient underwent partial precystectomy with capitonnage and omentoplasty. The surgical outcome was uneventful and the patient was discharged on the eighth day after the surgery with the oral Albendazole. Reviewing the literature, our case was the 5th rank according to the size of the recorded published cases. The most common countries where the largest liver hydatid cysts were reported were Greece and Turkey. The most common surgery was the open surgery and the most common incisions were Kocher and then Chevron incisions. When dealing with a huge liver cyst, a high index of suspicion for echinococcal etiology becomes important in endemic areas such as Iran. The choice of treatment for giant hepatic cysts substantially seems to be radical surgery by surgical ablation in general to mitigate the mortality and morbidity rate, because they are at risk of rupture, anaphylaxis, and so forth. In this paper, we report the synthesis of quinoxaline‐isoxazole‐piperazine conjugates. The anticancer activity was evaluated against three human cancer cell lines, including MCF‐7 (breast), HepG‐2 (liver), and HCT‐116 (colorectal). The outcomes of the tested compounds 5d, 5e, and 5f have shown more potent activity when compared to the standard drug erlotinib. In a cell survivability test (MCF‐10A), three potent compounds (5d, 5e, and 5f) were evaluated against the normal breast cell line, although neither of them displayed any significant cytotoxicity with IC50 values greater than 84 μM. Furthermore, the compounds 5d, 5e, and 5f were tested for tyrosine kinase EGFR inhibitory action using erlotinib as the reference drug and compound 5e was shown to be more potent in inhibiting the tyrosine kinase EGFR than sorafenib. In addition to this, molecular docking studies of compounds 5d, 5e, and 5f demonstrated that these compounds had more EGFR‐binding interactions. The potent compounds 5d, 5e, and 5f were subjected to in silico pharmacokinetic assessment by SWISS, ADME, and pkCSM. Objective: To assess the efficacy of newly designed butterfly splint with special technique for middle turbinate stabilization in preventing adhesion following bilateral endoscopic sinus surgery (ESS) for chronic rhinosinusitis with nasal polyps (CRSwNP). Study design: Prospective, double-blind, randomized controlled. Setting: University hospitals. Methods: Following ESS, in cases of traumatized and/or unstable middle turbinates, newly designed butterfly plastic splint was randomly inserted in the middle meatus of one nasal side, while no splint was inserted in the other (control). Patients were followed up on after 1 week, 1 month, and 6 months. Endoscopic examination and a visual analog scale were used to evaluate each side of the nasal cavity for adhesion, crusting, pus, pain, nasal obstruction, and nasal discharge. Results: Thirty patients (60 nasal sides) were included. For all investigated parameters, there was no significant difference between the splinted and non-splinted sides at the first week visit. Adhesion was found significantly less in the splinted sides (3%) than the non-splinted sides (27%) after 1 month (P = 0.038). The adhesion rate in the splinted sides remained 3% at the 3 month follow-up visit, however, in the non-splinted sides, the rate increased up to 30% (P = 0.007). Throughout the follow-up visits, all other investigated parameters remained statistically insignificant between both sides. Conclusions: The newly designed butterfly plastic splints to avoid middle turbinate adhesion is safe and effective in both reducing middle meatal adhesion with low complication rate in CRSwNP patients undergoing ESS and middle turbinate stabilization in its intermediate position. The effects of non-dimensional parameters namely coupling constant parameter (0.01 ≤ B1 ≤ 0.05), magnetic parameter (1.0 ≤ M ≤ 15.0), Grashof number (0.3 ≤ Gr ≤ 0.9), modified Grashof number (0.3 ≤ Gm ≤ 0.8), micropolar parameter (2.0 ≤ G2 ≤ 7.5), vortex viscosity constraint (0.02 ≤ G1 ≤ 0.2), Prandtl number (7.0 ≤ Pr ≤ 15.0), thermal radiation parameter (0.25 ≤ R ≤ 0.50), Brownian motion parameter (0.2 ≤ Nb ≤ 0.62), thermophoresis parameter (0.04 ≤ Nt ≤ 0.10), heat generation parameter (0.1 ≤ Q ≤ 0.5), Biot number (0.65 ≤ Bi ≤ 1.0), stretching parameter (0.2 ≤ A ≤ 0.5), Lewis number (3.0 ≤ Le ≤ 7.0), and chemical reaction parameter (0.2 ≤ K ≤ 0.7) on the steady MHD heat and mass transfer is investigated in the present study. The coupled non-linear partial differential equations are reduced into a set of non-linear ordinary differential equations employing similarity transformation. Furthermore, by using the Runge-Kutta method followed by the shooting technique, the transformed equations are solved. The main goal of this study is to investigate the numerical analysis of nanofluid flow within the boundary layer region with the effects of the microrotation parameter and velocity ratio parameter. The novelty of this paper is to propose a numerical method for solving third-order ordinary differential equations that include both linear and nonlinear terms. To understand the physical significance of this work, numerical analyses and tabular displays of the skin friction coefficient, Nusselt number, and Sherwood number are shown. The new approach of the present study contributes significantly to the understanding of numerical solutions to nonlinear differential equations in fluid mechanics and micropolar fluid flow. In the current study, a biocompatible hydrogel sorbent is prepared by chemical conjunction between gum tragacanth polymer chains and polyvinyl alcohol using electron beam irradiation followed by chemical stabilization of tannin on its surface. The synthesized composite hydrogels are analyzed using infrared spectroscopy, scanning electron microscope, X-ray diffraction method and thermogravimetric analysis. Then, the ability of the prepared hydrogel sorbent to remove methyl violet from the aqueous solution is investigated. The sorption data are analyzed via Langmuir, Freundlich and Temkin isotherm models and turned out to be most consistent with the Langmuir isotherm. The maximum Langmuir sorption capacity of gum tragacanth-polyvinyl alcohol/tannin composite hydrogel for the removal of methyl violet was 35.21 mg g−1. The sorption process is found to be endothermic and spontaneous. Experimental data are also analyzed using kinetic equations of pseudo-first-order, pseudo-second-order and Elovich, and are found to be in good agreement with the pseudo-second-order model. Background: Diabetes can result in distress. Improving Resilience is important in managing these conditions. It is also important to consider the mediating role of diabetes management self-efficacy (DMSE) between diabetes distress (DD) and Resilience. Likewise, understanding how social support (SS) buffers the impact of diabetes distress on Resilience is equally important. Methods: The present study used a cross-sectional design and included 403 participants diagnosed with type 2 diabetes (T2D). The study was conducted in the south of Iran. The participants were selected through convenience sampling from July 2022 to January 2023. Self-reported questionnaires, namely the Diabetes Distress Scale (DDS), Diabetes Management Self-Efficacy Scale (DMSE), Perceived Social Support Scale (PSSS), and Resilience Scale, were used for data collection in the present study. Structural equation modelling was used for moderated mediation analysis. Results: The results of the Pearson correlation analysis were indicative of a significant negative correlation (p < 0.01) between diabetes distress and diabetes management self-efficacy (r = − 0.607), social support (r = − 0.417), and Resilience (r = − 0.552). The findings further revealed that diabetes management self-efficacy had fully mediated the correlation between diabetes distress and Resilience. Moreover, the results indicated that social support had a moderating role in the DD-resilience link. Conclusions: The present study’s findings offer a new theoretical framework for T2DM that can benefit intervention designers. The results further suggest that promoting diabetes management self-efficacy can be an effective strategy to enhance Resilience and decrease diabetes distress. Also, nurses and other healthcare providers must pay close attention to support resources to improve the patients’ Resilience and evaluate the distress associated with diabetes. Purpose: Data mining has been used to help discover Frequent patterns in health data. it is widely used to diagnose and prevent various diseases and to obtain the causes and factors affecting diseases. Therefore, the aim of the present study is to discover frequent patterns in the data of the Kashan Trauma Registry based on a new method. Methods: We utilized real data from the Kashan Trauma Registry. After pre-processing, frequent patterns and rules were extracted based on the classical Apriori algorithm and the new method. The new method based on the weight of variables and the harmonic mean was presented for the automatic calculation of minimum support with the Python. Results: The results showed that the minimum support generation based on the weighting features is done dynamically and level by level, while in the classic Apriori algorithm considering that only one value is considered for the minimum support manually by the user. Also, the performance of the new method was better compared to the classical Apriori method based on the amount of memory consumption, execution time, the number of frequent patterns found and the generated rules. Conclusions: This study found that manually determining the minimal support increases execution time and memory usage, which is not cost-effective, especially when the user does not know the dataset's content. In trauma registries and massive healthcare datasets, its ability to uncover common item groups and association rules provides valuable insights. To discuss the clinical spectrum and management strategies in patients with post-traumatic canalicular fistula (PTCF). Retrospective, interventional case series of consecutive patients diagnosed with PTCF over a 6-year study period between June 2016 and June 2022. The demographics, mode of injury, location, and communication of the canalicular fistula were noted. The outcomes of several management modalities including dacryocystorhinostomy, lacrimal gland therapies, and conservative approaches were assessed. Eleven cases with PTCF over the study period were included. The mean age at presentation was 23.5 years (range: 6–71 years), with male: female ratio of 8:3. The median time interval between trauma to presentation at the Dacryology clinic was 3 years (range: 1 week to 12 years). Seven had iatrogenic trauma and four had the canalicular fistula following primary trauma. Management modalities pursued include conservative approach for minimal symptoms, and dacryocystorhinostomy, dacryocystectomy, and lacrimal gland botulinum toxin injection. The mean follow-up period was 30 months (range: 3-months−6 years). 3p deletion syndrome or deletion 3p25-pter syndrome is an exceptionally rare genetic disorder characterized by deletion of the distal segment of the short arm of chromosome 3. There are less than a hundred reported cases worldwide. Clinical characteristics include severe physical and mental retardation, trigonocephaly, micrognathia, and diffuse hypotonia. The common ocular manifestations include congenital ptosis and canthal anomalies. To the best of the authors' knowledge, no lacrimal drainage anomalies have been reported earlier. The present case describes proximal lacrimal drainage anomalies in a patient with 3p deletion syndrome. We developed a microchip device using surface acoustic waves (SAW) and sharp‐edge glass microparticles to rapidly lyse low‐level cell samples. This microchip features a 13‐finger pair interdigital transducer (IDT) with a 30‐degree focused angle, creating high‐intensity acoustic beams converging 6 mm away at a 16 MHz frequency. Cell lysis is achieved through centrifugal forces acting on Candida albicans cells and glass particles within the focal area. To optimize this SAW‐induced streaming, we conducted 42 pilot experiments, varying electrical power, droplet volume, glass particle size, concentration, and lysis time, resulting in optimal conditions: an electrical signal of 2.5 W, a 20 μL sample volume, glass particle size below 10 μm, concentration of 0.2 μg, and a 5‐min lysis period. We successfully amplified DNA target fragments directly from the lysate, demonstrating an efficient microchip‐based cell lysis method. Background: In the Trastuzumab for Gastric Cancer study, it was found that trastuzumab combined with doublet chemotherapy (fluoropyrimidine and platinum) was the gold‑standard treatment for gastroesophageal adenocarcinoma (GEA) that was locally advanced, unresectable, or metastatic (HER2+). Materials and Methods: We performed a meta‑analysis of randomized phase II/III studies testing trastuzumab in combination or alone. Results: This meta‑analysis’s findings involved 2048 patients in total. The treatment arm and hormone receptor status were used to stratify the combined HR. Overall, the PFS (Random model) HR [0.80] and 95% confidence intervals (CI) [0.68‑0.95] were significantly higher for regimens containing trastuzumab, fluoropyrimidine, and platinum compared to regimens containing fluoropyrimidine and platinum. Conclusions: The results of this meta‑analysis provide additional support for trastuzumab’s use in treating HER2‑positive GEA, particularly in cases where the disease lacks a HER2+ receptor. In syringe-supramolecular dispersive liquid-liquid microextraction followed by flame atomic absorption spectrometry has been designed for extraction and speciation of iron in different samples. Fe(III) is complexed with 4,5-dihydroxy-1,3-benzendisulfonic acid (Tiron), neutralised through the formation of the ion pair with the ionic liquid of 1-hexadecyl-3- methylimidazolium bromide, and extracted into the reverse micelles of decanoic acid (DA) in tetrahydrofuran (THF). Total iron was determined after oxidation of Fe(II) to Fe(III). Fe(II) concentration was determined from the difference between the total iron and Fe(III) concentrations. Under optimal conditions, the calibration graph was linear up to 45.0 µg L−1 of Fe(III). The limits of detection (LOD) and quantification (LOQ) were 1.04 µg L−1 and 3.45 µg L−1, respectively. This article examines the factors that predict affective polarization and political engagement in the United States. Using an original survey dataset (N = 1,100) of a fairly representative national sample, this study explored some factors (e.g., age, gender, political ideology, and partisan news media and social media) to see how they predict affective polarization and political engagement. The results could be helpful to further study widening affective polarization, which is reportedly affecting democracy itself, in this current political and public opinion atmosphere "Trumpfied" in the last couple of years. The insights found in this research could also help devise political and social campaign strategies that minimize polarization gaps. The results might enable corporate entities to better classify their consumers based on relevant issues associated with polarization and political engagement. Switched capacitor-based multi-level topologies have recently gained attention due to their inherent technical superiority suitable for renewable-based applications. In this work, a single-phase boosting nine-level inverter is proposed, which employs a DC-source ( V dc ) and three capacitors. It uses 14 switches that require nine independent control signals from the controller, conducts a maximum of 8 switches at any instant and provides a 9-level quadruple-boosted output voltage. The proposed topology is verified for an experimental setup's steady and transient load conditions. A detailed discussion on the balanced charging of the capacitors is also presented. A novel harmonic elimination-based-nearest level modulation scheme is proposed, wherein the simplified control scheme of the nearest level control is extended to eliminate the undesired low-order harmonics from the output voltage waveform of the 9-level inverter. Moreover, its merits of a simplified control, lower power loss, reduced total voltage stress and enhanced voltage gain are discussed in comparison with various 9-level inverters in detail. Aim: This study aimed to assess the effect of COVID-19 on hepatitis-related services in Bangladesh and compared the situation with same study conducted in Japan and globally. Methods: We conducted an online cross-sectional questionnaire survey among the clinicians of four societies associated with liver disease in Bangladesh from October to December 2022. The questionnaire included the same questions as a survey conducted in Japan and globally. Results: A total of 83 clinicians from 8 divisions in Bangladesh participated; 66.3% were heads of departments/institutions. Except for HCV treatment initiation, more than 30% of clinicians reported a 76–99% decline in all services. Compared to Japan and the global survey, there was a significantly higher decline in all HBV and HCV services in Bangladesh. To resume services back to pre-COVID-19 levels, Patient anxiety and fear (Bangladesh Survey: 80.7% vs Japan Survey: 67.4% vs Global Survey: 37.9%, p < 0.0001), loss of space due to COVID-19 (Bangladesh Survey: 63.9% vs Japan Survey: 34.7% vs Global Survey: 19.4%, p < 0.0001) were the main challenges. As part of the mitigation strategy, usage of telemedicine (Bangladesh Survey: 83.1% vs. Japan Survey: 67.3% vs Global Survey: 78.6% p < 0.0001), COVID-19 benefits, such as increased laboratory testing platforms (Bangladesh Survey: 77.1% vs Japan Survey: 17.9% vs Global Survey: 41.8%, p < 0.0001) was reported significantly higher in Bangladesh than in Japan and global survey. Conclusion: All the services-related to HBV and HCV were highly affected during greatest impact month of COVID-19 in Bangladesh and the decline level was higher than Japan and global survey. Repeated countermeasures of COVID-19 and constrained healthcare-system were the probable reasons in Bangladesh. Background: Infertility is one of the critical health issues in Iran. There are more than 70 specialized infertility treatment centers in Iran, of which the Yazd Reproductive Sciences Institute, is one of the most important ones. Objective: This study aimed to determine the factors influencing infertile couples' choice of Yazd Reproductive Sciences Institute. Materials and Methods: This cross-sectional study was conducted on 275 infertile couples aged 18 and older, referring to Yazd Reproductive Sciences Institute, Yazd, Iran from September 2021 to March 2022. Data were gathered using a 2-part questionnaire. Data analysis was done through SPSS software. We used descriptive statistics, Kruskal- Wallis, Mann-Whitney, and t test for data analysis. Results: Most participants were individuals who came from other provinces of Iran (74.9%) and were referred to the Yazd Reproductive Sciences Institute. Among the 4 categories that influenced couples' decision to choose this center, factors related to the personnel and treatment staff received the highest score (75.83), while personal factors received the lowest score (65.76). The average score for factors related to doctors was 72.90, and for factors related to the center, it was 73.65. The satisfaction with personnel and treatment staff varied based on participants' education levels, with those who had lower levels of education reporting higher levels of satisfaction (p <0.001). Conclusion: The primary factors contributing to the success of the Yazd Reproductive Sciences Institute in attracting clients were the dedication and expertise of the staff, as well as the esteemed reputation of the doctors at the center. The POLD4 gene encodes a subunit (δ4) of DNA polymerase delta, which is a key enzyme involved in DNA replication and repair. Recent studies have suggested that POLD4 plays a crucial role in developing certain cancers. However, there is a lack of knowledge regarding the role of POLD4 in the context of glioblastoma (GBM). Therefore, in this study we have used various cancer bioinformatics tools to explore the role of POLD4 in glioblastoma. Data from various sources were accessed to analyze POLD4 gene expression and estimate tumor-infiltrating immune cells in glioblastoma. Methylation data were retrieved using the MEXPRESS web browser and analyzed. UALCAN webserver was used to analyze the protein expression of POLD4. Gene correlation and pathway enrichment analysis were performed using cBioPortal and GSEA software, respectively. Afterward, survival analysis was performed. POLD4 was significantly upregulated in glioblastoma at both gene and protein levels in GBM, and ROC curve analysis revealed it as a potential biomarker in glioblastoma. GSEA analysis of TCGA-GBM pan-cancer study exhibited that POLD4 expression was associated with critical pathways, such as interferon-gamma response, G2M checkpoint, inflammatory response, E2F targets, EMT transition, and KRAS signaling pathways. Furthermore, POLD4 expression was positively correlated with DNA methylation at 3 CpG sites, including Cg16509978, with a Pearson correlation coefficient value of 0.398 (p-value ≤ 0.01), while the promoter region had a positive correlation but was not significant. In addition, POLD4 is significantly linked with poor OS, PFS, and DFS. We also found association of POLD4 expression with altered immune cell infiltration. In conclusion, POLD4 is significantly upregulated in glioblastoma and may be used as a potential diagnostic or prognostic biomarker for GBM patients. However, to establish the same a large cohort study is needed. Using TCGA data and various cancer bioinformatics tools mentioned above we observed very high level of gene and protein expression of POLD4 in glioblastoma patients. The expression of POLD4 was significantly correlated with inflammatory and oncogenic pathways and it also has a significant correlation with adverse outcome in patients with glioblastoma. The choice of capping agents used during the synthesis process of quantum dots (QDs) can significantly influence their fate and fundamental properties. Hence, choosing an appropriate capping agent is a critical step in both synthesis and biomedical application of QDs. In this research, ZnS QDs were synthesized via chemical precipitation process and three commonly employed capping agents, namely mercaptoethanol (ME), mercaptoacetic acid (MAA), and cysteamine (CA), were used to stabilize the QDs. This study was aimed to examine how these capping agents impact the physicochemical and optical characteristics of ZnS QDs, as well as their interactions with biological systems. The findings revealed that the capping agents had considerable effects on the behavior and properties of ZnS QDs. MAA‐QD exhibited superior crystal lattice, smaller size, and significant quantum yield (QY). In contrast, CA‐QDs demonstrated the lowest QY and the highest tendency for aggregation. ME‐QDs exhibited intermediate characteristics, along with an acceptable level of cytotoxicity, rapid uptake by cells, and efficient escape from lysosomes. Local therapy modalities such as radiation therapy, photodynamic therapy, photothermal therapy, and cryoablation have been used to treat localized tumors for decades. The discovery of the abscopal effect causes a paradigm shift where local therapy also causes systemic effects and leads to the remission of nonirradiated tumors. The abscopal effect of radiation therapy, alone or in combination with other treatments, has been extensively studied over the last six decades. However, the results are unsatisfactory in producing robust, reproducible, and long‐lasting systemic effects. Although immunotherapy and radiation therapy are promising in producing the abscopal effect, the abscopal effect's mechanism is still unclear, owing to various factors such as irradiation type and dose and cancer type. This article reviews the research progress, clinical and preclinical evidence of the abscopal effect by various local therapies alone and in combination with chemotherapy and immunotherapy, case reports, and the current challenges in producing the abscopal effect by various local therapies, focusing on radiotherapy, photodynamic therapy, cryoablation, and the prospects for obtaining a robust, reproducible, and long‐lasting abscopal effect. The widespread adoption of the tawarruq contract by Islamic banks in their deposit and financing offerings has spurred the emergence of mushārakah mutanāqisah as an alternative for Islamic property financing. Affin Islamic Bank Berhad is among the Islamic banks that offer mushārakah mutanāqisah as the core Shari‘ah contract in their Islamic property financing services. This type of financing is offered to customers for completed properties and those that are under construction. In the context of Islamic property financing, mushārakah mutanāqisah refers to a structure where the customer assumes the role of the registered property owner while the bank holds ownership shares in the form of beneficial ownership. Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM) has released multiple Policy Documents regarding Shari‘ah contracts as guidelines to ensure uniformity in the application of Shari‘ah contracts across Islamic financial products and services. Islamic banks are required to adhere to these guidelines, including the mushārakah mutanāqisah. Thus, this paper intends to study the application of mushārakah mutanāqisah in property financing based on Affin Islamic Bank’s experience in adopting the related Policy Documents issued by BNM. Drought is the most destructive environmental limitation that jeopardizes agronomic production. Given the wide range of industrial and medicinal applications of arugula (Eruca sativa. L.), the present study evaluated the response of a world collection of 64 arugula genotypes to drought stress over a two-year study period (2019 and 2020) through selection indices and some agronomic traits. The main objective was to identify the best selection indices from Susceptibility Index (SSI), Yield Stability Index (YSI), Tolerance Index (TOL), Mean Productivity (MP), Geometric Mean Productivity (GMP), and Stress Tolerance Index (STI) that could be exploited in the genotypic selection of the crop's drought-tolerant cultivars. The highest values of STI, MP, and YSI were recorded for the genotypes G58 and G35 in 2019 and 2020, respectively. Generally, the superior genotypes for seed yield in 2019 were G56 and G58 while G35 and G55 proved so in 2020. Background: Climate change is a major global threat to human health and puts tremendous pressure on health systems. Therefore, a resilient health system is crucial to enhance, maintain, and restore the population's health. This study aimed to identify interventions and actions to strengthen a climate-resilient health system to deal with the adverse health effects of climate change. Method: This study was a scoping review. Five databases and Google Scholar search engine were searched using relevant keywords. Initially, 4945 documents were identified, and 105 were included in the review. Content thematic analysis method was applied using MAXQDA 10 software. Results: Overall, 87 actions were identified for building a climate-resilient health system and were classified into six themes (i.e., governance and leadership; financing; health workforce; essential medical products and technologies; health information systems; and service delivery). The most commonly reported actions were formulating a national health and climate change adaptation plan, developing plans for essential services (electricity, heating, cooling, ventilation, and water supply), assessing the vulnerabilities and capacities of the health system, and enhancing surveillance systems targeting climate-sensitive diseases and their risk sources. Conclusions: A holistic and systemic approach is needed to build a climate-resilient health system owing to its complex adaptive nature. Strong governance and leadership, raising public awareness, strategic resource allocation, climate change mitigation, emergency preparedness, robust health services delivery, and supporting research, are essential to building a climate-resilient health system. Epstein–Barr virus (EBV) associated dacryocystic retention presents with an acute swelling in the lacrimal sac area with epiphora and lymphadenopathy. The patient would usually have a preceding history of infectious mononucleosis with clinical features of fever, pharyngitis, preauricular and cervical lymphadenopathy, hepatosplenomegaly, subclinical hepatitis, nausea, and palatine petechiae. The present case is of a 3-year-old child who presented with a sudden painless swelling in the lacrimal sac region with epiphora. Drought tolerance is a complex trait in plants that involves different biochemical mechanisms. During two years of study (2019–2020), the responses of 64 arugula genotypes to drought stress were evaluated in a randomized complete block design with three replications under field conditions. Several metabolic traits were evaluated, i.e. relative water content, photosynthetic pigments (chlorophyll and carotenoids), proline, malondialdehyde, enzymatic antioxidants (catalase, ascorbate peroxidase, and peroxidase), total phenolic and flavonoid contents and seed yield. On average, the drought stress significantly increased the proline content (24%), catalase (42%), peroxidase (60%) and malondialdehyde activities (116%) over the two years of study. As a result of the drought stress, the seed yield (18%), relative water content (19.5%) and amount of photosynthetic pigments (chlorophyll and carotenoids) dropped significantly. However, the total phenolic and flavonoid contents showed no significant changes. Under drought stress, the highest seed yields were seen in the G50, G57, G54, G55 and G60 genotypes, while the lowest value was observed in the G16 genotype (94 g plant−1). According to the findings, when compared to the drought-sensitive genotypes, the drought-tolerant arugula genotypes were marked with higher levels of proline accumulation and antioxidant enzyme activity. Correlation analysis indicated the positive effects of peroxidase, catalase and proline on seed yield under drought conditions. Angiogenesis is a vital step in tissue regeneration. Hence, the current study aimed to prepare oxidized dextran (Odex)/collagen (Col)‐hydrogels with laminin (LMN), as an angiogenic extracellular matrix (ECM) component, for promoting human umbilical vein endothelial cell (HUVEC) proliferation and function. Odex/Col scaffolds were constructed at various concentrations and temperatures. Using oscillatory rheometry, scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and cell viability testing, the scaffolds were characterized, and then HUVEC proliferation and function was compared with or without LMN. The gelation time could be modified by altering the Odex/Col mass ratio as well as the temperature. SEM showed that Odex/Col hydrogels had a more regular three‐dimensional (3D) porous structure than the Col hydrogels. Moreover, HUVECs grew faster in the Col scaffold (12 mg/mL), whereas the Odex (30 mg/mL)/Col (6 mg/mL) scaffold exhibited the lowest apoptosis index. Furthermore, the expression level of vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) mRNA in the group without LMN was higher than that with LMN, and the Odex (30 mg/mL)/Col (6 mg/mL) scaffold without LMN had the highest VEGF protein secretion, allowing the cells to survive and function effectively. Introduction: Happiness is one of the basic components of people’s lives, especially in the educational environment, and it is important to study the factors affecting it. Therefore, the present study aimed to measure the mediating role of psychological well-being in the relationship between locus of control and general health with happiness among nursing students. Material and methods: This descriptive and cross-sectional study was carried out on 219 nursing students of Fars University of Medical Sciences in southern Iran from October to December 2018 through the convenience sampling method. The Oxford Happiness Questionnaire, Locus of Control Questionnaire, General Health Questionnaire, and Psychological Well-Being Questionnaire were the tools used to collect the data. Structural equation modeling was applied using AMOD and SPSS software version 25 for data analysis. Results: The results showed that the psychological well-being partially mediated the relationship between the locus of control (β = 0.08, p < 0.05) and general health (β = –0.24, p < 0.001) with happiness. Conclusions: The results of this research can be used to develop programs aiming at improving students’ happiness. Also, designing programs based on the present study model, while strengthening the general health and locus of control of the students, can lead to their psychological improvement and happiness for them. Objectives: This study was done to evaluate the knowledge of community pharmacists--working in Saudi Arabia--regarding over-the-counter opioid-related and opioid-containing medications. Materials and Methods: A quantitative cross-sectional study was conducted using an online questionnaire that was distributed through social media and taken to the community pharmacists in person. A total of 101 responders were reached in a period of around 3 weeks. Results: Most of the pharmacists working in community pharmacies in Saudi Arabia are non-Saudi (85.15%), males (88.12%), and the majority are holders of bachelor's degrees (85.15%). More than half of the participants spend a considerably sufficient time with the patient 6-10 minutes (60.4%). The availability of a private counseling room in community pharmacies is significantly low (21.78%). Only (69.41%) of participants always counsel the patient before dispensing opioid-related medications. Most of the participants (84.76%) believe that all over-the-counter opioid-related and opioid-containing medications should be restricted to avoid drug abuse. Conclusion: A little neglect from pharmacists' side regarding dispensing such medications was observed; thus, there is a significant need to raise their awareness regarding over-the-counter opioid abuse. The 2019 coronavirus (COVID‐19), started in China, spreads rapidly around the entire world. In automated medical imagery diagnostic technique, due to presence of noise in medical images and use of single pre‐trained model on low quality images, the existing deep network models cannot provide the optimal results with better accuracy. Hence, hybrid deep learning model of Xception model & Resnet50V2 model is proposed in this paper. This study suggests classifying X‐ray images into three categories namely, normal, bacterial/viral infections and Covid positive. It utilizes CLAHE & BM3D techniques to improve visual clarity and reduce noise. Transfer learning method with variety of pre‐trained models such as ResNet‐50, Inception V3, VGG‐16, VGG‐19, ResNet50V2, and Xception are used for better feature extraction and Chest X‐ray image classification. The overfitting issue were resolved using K‐fold cross validation. The proposed hybrid deep learning model results high accuracy of 97.8% which is better than existing techniques. Roads were developed by humans in ancient times. With the passage of time these structures went through development and took form of modern highways. A complex structure of road network existed in Indian sub-continent during imperialism in South Asia. When Mughals developed their Empire, they further developed that road network. These routes were used for various purposes like local as well as interstate trade, postal services, and movement of royal army. Individual travelers and caravans also moved on those roads. Valuable items were carried by travelers on these routes hence various groups of professional robbers, thieves and thugs were gradually formed who robbed and killed travelers. Mughal Emperors took various measures to address this issue. Administrative officers were given the task to make arrangements to provide security to travelers. Rest houses (Sarai) were made, check posts were created and local responsibility law was continued which required local village heads to provide security on roads which were present near their villages. A strong spying network was established which kept the emperor well informed about the happenings in the state. Culprits were either killed in encounters with Mughal troops or captured by the village vigil force or they were presented before Emperor and Judges who punished these criminals.
