Regression, a supervised machine learning approach, establishes relationships between independent variables and a continuous dependent variable. It is widely applied in areas like price prediction and time series forecasting. The performance of regression models is typically assessed using error metrics such as the Mean Squared Error (MSE), Mean Absolute Error (MAE), and Root Mean Squared Error (RMSE). However, these metrics present challenges including sensitivity to outliers (notably MSE and RMSE) and scale dependency, which complicates comparisons across different models. Additionally, traditional metrics sometimes yield values that are difficult to interpret across various problems. Consequently, there is a need for a metric that consistently reflects regression model performance, independent of the problem domain, data scale, and outlier presence. To overcome these shortcomings, this paper introduces a new regression accuracy measure based on the Hassanat distance, a non-convex distance metric. This measure is not only invariant to outliers but also easy to interpret as it provides an accuracy-like value that ranges from 0 to 1 (or 0–100%). We validate the proposed metric against traditional measures across multiple benchmarks, demonstrating its robustness under various model scenarios and data types. Artificial Intelligence (AI) is being increasingly used for diagnosing Vision-Threatening Diabetic Retinopathy (VTDR), which is a leading cause of visual impairment and blindness worldwide. However, previous automated VTDR detection methods have mainly relied on manual feature extraction and classification, leading to errors. This paper proposes a novel VTDR detection and classification model that combines different models through majority voting. Our proposed methodology involves preprocessing, data augmentation, feature extraction, and classification stages. We use a hybrid convolutional neural network-singular value decomposition (CNN-SVD) model for feature extraction and selection and an improved SVM-RBF with a Decision Tree (DT) and K-Nearest Neighbor (KNN) for classification. We tested ourmodel on the IDRiD dataset and achieved an accuracy of 98.06%, a sensitivity of 83.67%, and a specificity of 100% for DR detection and evaluation tests, respectively. The exponential growth of web-based content has prompted governments and businesses to seek new strategies and tools for effective governance, navigation, and management of complex data. Since the start of SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19), there have been numerous news related to coronavirus and its variants published on various platforms. Thus, it is important to introduce an intelligent classification technique for classifying the news related to COVID-19. Automated news classification refers to the process of categorising news articles into predetermined categories based on their content, using the confidence gained from the training news dataset. Therefore, this paper intends to develop a model capable of classifying Arabic news related to the COVID-19 Omicron variant. The model can classify related news into five classes: statistics, vaccines, restrictions, economy and health. The news corpus is comprised of 220,000 instances gathered from various Arabic newspapers. The dataset is pre-processed, and then the n-gram features are identified to train and test the models. This study experimented with various machine learning (ML) classifiers, i.e., Multinomial Naïve Bayes (MNB), Support Vector Machine (SVM), and Random Forest (RF) with various n-grams when creating the model. The results show that MNB with character n-gram outperformed baseline methods in terms of recall, precision and F1-score with average values of 86%, 87% and 86%, respectively. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

People utilize microblogs and other social media platforms to express their thoughts and feelings regarding current events, public products and the latest affairs. People share their thoughts and feelings about various topics, including products, news, blogs, etc. In user reviews and tweets, sentiment analysis is used to discover opinions and feelings. Sentiment polarity is a term used to describe how sentiment is represented. Positive, neutral and negative are all examples of it. This area is still in its infancy and needs several critical upgrades. Slang and hidden emotions can detract from the accuracy of traditional techniques. Existing methods only evaluate the polarity strength of the sentiment words when dividing them into positive and negative categories. Some existing strategies are domain-specific. The proposed model incorporates aspect extraction, association rule mining and the deep learning technique Bidirectional EncoderRepresentations from Transformers (BERT). Aspects are extracted using Part of Speech Tagger and association rulemining is used to associate aspects with opinion words. Later, classification was performed using BER. The proposed approach attained an average of 89.45% accuracy, 88.45% precision and 85.98% recall on different datasets of products and Twitter. The demand for better intrusion detection and prevention solutions has elevated due to the current global uptick in hacking and computer network attacks. The Intrusion Detection System (IDS) is essential for spotting network attacks and anomalies, which have increased in size and scope. A detection system has become an effective security method that monitors and investigates security in cloud computing. However, several existing methods have faced issues such as low classification accuracy, high false positive rates, and low true positive rates. To solve these problems, a detection system based on Support Vector Machine (SVM) is proposed in this paper. In this method, the SVM classifier is utilized for network data classification into normal and abnormal behaviors. The Cloud Intrusion Detection Dataset is used to test the effectiveness of the suggested system. In the past decade, traditional networks have been utilized to transfer data between more than one node. The primary problem related to formal networks is their stable essence, which makes them incapable of meeting the requirements of nodes recently inserted into the network. Thus, formal networks are substituted by a Software Defined Network (SDN). The latter can be utilized to construct a structure for intensive data applications like big data. In this paper, a comparative investigation of Deep Neural Network (DNN) and Machine Learning (ML) techniques that uses various feature selection techniques is undertaken. The ML techniques employed in this approach are decision tree (DT), Naïve Bayes (NB), Support Vector Machine (SVM). The proposed approach is tested experimentally and evaluated using an available NSL-KDD dataset. This dataset includes 41 features and 148,517 samples. To evaluate the techniques, several estimation measurements are calculated. The results prove that DT is the most accurate and effective approach.
