Deaf-mute people have much potential to contribute to society. However, communication between deaf-mutes and non-deaf-mutes is a problem that isolates deaf-mutes from society and prevents them from interacting with others. In this study, an information technology intervention, intelligent gloves (IG), a prototype of a two-way communication glove, was developed to facilitate communication between deaf-mutes and non-deaf-mutes. IG consists of a pair of gloves, flex sensors, an Arduino nano, a screen with a built-in microphone, a speaker, and an SD card module. To facilitate communication from the deaf-mutes to the non-deaf-mutes, the flex sensors sense the hand gestures and connected wires, and then transmit the hand movement signals to the Arduino nano where they are translated into words and sentences. The output is displayed on a small screen attached to the gloves, and it is also issued as voice from the speakers attached to the gloves. For communication from the non-deaf-mutes to the deaf-mute, the built-in microphone in the screen senses the voice, which is then transmitted to the Arduino nano to translate it to sentences and sign language, which are displayed on the screen using a 3D avatar. A unit testing of IG has shown that it performed as expected without errors. In addition, IG was tested on ten participants, and it has been shown to be both usable and accepted by the target users.

Today, various applications in different domains increasingly rely on high-performance computing (HPC) to accomplish computations swiftly. Integrating one or more programming models alongside the used programming language enhances system parallelism, thereby improving its performance. However, this integration can introduce runtime errors such as race conditions, deadlocks, or livelocks. Some of these errors may go undetected using conventional testing techniques, necessitating the exploration of additional methods for enhanced reliability. Formal methods, such as temporal logic, can be useful for detecting runtime errors since they have been widely used in real-time systems. Additionally, many software systems must adhere to temporal properties to ensure correct functionality. Temporal logics indeed serve as a formal frame that takes into account the temporal aspect when describing changes in elements or states over time. This paper proposes a temporal-logic-based testing tool utilizing instrumentation techniques designed for a dual-level programming model, namely, Message Passing Interface (MPI) and Open Multi-Processing (OpenMP), integrated with the C++ programming language. After a comprehensive study of temporal logic types, we found and proved that linear temporal logic is well suited as the foundation for our tool. Notably, while the tool is currently in development, our approach is poised to effectively address the highlighted examples of runtime errors by the proposed solution. While online shopping has become popular in recent years, certain problems related to customer expectations about the appearance and fitting of clothing items still need to be solved. Online customers looking for clothing products may be unsatisfied as they do not have the possibility to try on clothes and view how they would look on them. Additionally, vendors are burdened with the cost of items returned by unsatisfied customers. Augmented Reality (AR) can help vendors to attract more customers and enhance their shopping experience. Customers are more likely to be satisfied with their purchases when they can try the clothes on before purchasing them, which ultimately reduces the return costs for vendors. This paper presents an AR mobile application called Smart Fitting which was developed in order to allow online customers to try on clothing items by using 3D models virtually. The most recent AR development tools for iOS operating systems, including XCode and Unity, are utilized for creating the proposed mobile application. After an integration testing for the mobile application functions, seven target female consumers participated in the usability evaluation for this mobile application which was meant to prove its ease of use and evaluate the customers’ satisfaction. The obtained results showed that Smart Fitting can improve the users shopping experience by providing a more realistic clothes visualization than the traditional online shopping interfaces.
