Purpose To determine the prevalence of subclinical keratoconus (SKCN) among individuals undergoing routine, uncomplicated age-related cataract extraction. Methods At one major academic ophthalmology department in the United States, we reviewed records of patients aged 50 years and older who underwent surgery from January 2011 to April 2021. Patients who had poor-quality or unreliable tomographic data, previous corneal surgery, keratorefractive procedures, and significant vision-limiting pathology were excluded. While the diagnosis of keratoconus (KCN) was achieved clinically with highly deviated tomographic parameters, SKCN was defined by the authors using the Belin-Ambrósio enhanced ectasia index (BAD-D) > 1.7. This cut-off was selected by meta-analysis of large studies and is higher than the established recommended cut-off of 1.6 for a KCN suspect. In addition, for the eye to be considered as SKCN, at least one of three variables needed to deviate from normative values: 1) posterior elevation at thinnest point, 2) index of vertical asymmetry, and 3) index of surface variation. If one eye had manifest KCN, then the individual would be classified as KCN. Results Of 4894 eyes (2913 individuals), the prevalence of SKCN was 27.5% (95%CI, 26.2–28.8, 802 individuals), and prevalence of KCN was 1.6% (95% CI, 1.3–2.0, 47 individuals). An efficient and robust communication channel is a critical factor in underground coal mines to ensure the safety of the working environment. Through this paper, we explore how the functionalities and operational and analytical efficiency of SAGES can be analyzed utilizing historical data acquired during the depillaring operations carried out in underground coal mines using SAGES for safety and productivity during deployment with the incorporation of IoT with Artificial Intelligence. Applying predictive machine learning of convergence, load at withdrawal, and duration of yielding, in hrs will automate the analysis of the after-effects of depillaring operations. This will ultimately help in the maintenance of components of SAGES and measures to be taken on the safety of the workplace. Linear estimators, gradient boosting, and clustering methods are employed to detect the output properties of the deployed SAGES. Further, we illustrate and analyze a fine-tuning approach for supervised and unsupervised algorithms subsequently, which are analyzed and the performance of various estimator models in our experiments are compared. To end with, we perform an ensemble of the models for each target variable.

Background: A Window Aggregate function belongs to a class of functions, which have emerged as a very important tool for Big Data Analytics. They lend support in analysis and decisionmaking applications. A window aggregate function aggregates and returns the result by applying the function over a limited number of tuples corresponding to current tuple and hence lending support for big data analytics. We have gone through different patents related to window aggregate functions and its optimization. The cost associated with Big data analytics, especially the processing of window functions is one of the major limiting factors. However, now a number of optimizing techniques have evolved for both single as well as multiple window aggregate functions. Methods: In this paper, the authors have discussed various optimization techniques and summarized the latest techniques that have been developed over a period through intensive research in this area. The paper tried to compare various techniques based on certain parameters like the degree of parallelism, multiple window function support, execution time etc. Results: After analyzing all these techniques, segment tree data structure seems better technique as it outperforms other techniques on different grounds like efficiency, memory overhead, execution speed and degree of parallelism. Conclusion: In order to optimize the window aggregate function, segment tree data structure technique is a better technique, which can certainly improve the processing of window aggregate function specifically in big data analytics.

Objective- The aim of the present study was to formulate and in- vitro study of glipizide liposphere by using melt dispersion technique. Methods- Glipizide Liposphere system composed of paraffin wax, Stearic acid as lipid phase and sodium lauryl sulphate as surfactant. Glipizide lipospheres were prepared by using melt dispersion technique. Formulation of Glipizide was evaluated such as organoleptic properties, particle size, drug content, entrapment efficiency in-vitro study and stability of the lipospheres. Result- The formation of glipizide lipospheres by using melt dispersion technique was done successfully. All the formulations have off- white in colour, characteristic odour and spherical shape. The formulation A4 has particle size 19.65 μm, drug content 84.93 %, entrapment efficiency 80.75 % and the percentage drug release was carried out by using USP type 2 dissolution apparatus in 6.8 pH phosphate buffer solution and drug release of glipizide lipospheres within 12 hrs was found to be 74.06 %.stability study of glipizide lipospheres revealed that the formulation was stable at 5oC ± 3oC. Purpose: To evaluate choroidal thickness in patients with non-ocular Behçet's disease (BD) using spectral domain optical coherence tomography (SD-OCT) and to compare the results to normal eyes. Methods: In this retrospective observational comparative study, we collected OCT and clinical data from the charts of 4 patients (7 eyes) with BD who had been referred for a screening eye exam and had a normal ocular examination. Data from 9 healthy volunteers (17 eyes) were collected as age-matched controls. The choroid was manually segmented from volume OCT scans using custom Doheny Image Reading Center OCT grading software (3D-OCTOR). Main outcome measures were choroidal thickness and intensity were compared between eyes of patients with BD and those of healthy controls. Results: Eyes of patients with non-ocular BD had significantly thinner mean central subfield choroidal thickness (227.5 ± 56.93 versus 306.85 ± 17.85, P = 0.04) and central subfield choroidal volume (0.18 ± 0.04 vs 0.24 ± 0.02, P = 0.005). There was no significant difference in mean choroidal thickness in the whole ETDRS grid or in mean choroidal intensity in the central subfield and the whole ETDRS grid between eyes of patients with non-ocular BD and those of controls. Conclusion: This study demonstrates that BD may have subclinical manifestations in the choroid, resulting in thinning of the choroid relative to normal eyes, even without overt signs of ocular involvement. Serine/threonine kinase IKBKE is a newly identified oncogene, however, its regulation remains elusive. Here, we provide evidence that IKBKE is a downstream target of STAT3 and that tobacco induces IKBKE expression through STAT3. Ectopic expression of constitutively active STAT3 led to increase of IKBKE mRNA and protein levels, whereas inhibition of STAT3 reduced IKBKE expression. Further, ex-pression levels of IKBKE are significantly associated with STAT3 activation and tobacco use history in NSCLC patients examined. In addition, we show induction IKBKE by two components of cigarette smoke, nicotine and the NNK. Upon exposure of nicotine or NNK, cells express high levels of IKBKE protein and mRNA, which are largely abrogated by inhibition of STAT3. Characterization of the IKBKE promoter revealed 2 STAT3 response elements that directly bind to STAT3 and respond to nicotine and NNK stimulation. Notably, knockdown of IKBKE not only selectively sensitizes NSCLC cells to chemotherapy but also abrogates the protective effects of constitutively activate STAT3 and nicotine on gemcitabine and cisplatin-induced apoptosis. These data indicate for first time that IKBKE is a direct target of the STAT3 and is induced by tobacco carcinogen through STAT3 pathway. In addition, our study also suggests that IKBKE is an important therapeutic target and could play a pivotal role in tobacco-associated lung carcinogenesis.
