Risk stratification in pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH) is essential to provide more aggressive treatment for patients at higher risk. Nevertheless, recently introduced simplified prognostic tools neglect the genetic background. Additionally, pulmonary veno-oclusive disease (PVOD) has never been considered in risk assessment strategies.We analyzed consecutive patients in the Spanish registry of PAH (REHAP) genetically tested, between 2011 and 2022. We applied the 4-strata COMPERA 2.0 model, comparing these results with an amplified score including genetics. Cox regression models were compared using Harrel c-statistics. The application of the model was specifically tested in PVOD before inclusion.We identified 298 patients tested genetically among the group of idiopathic, familial, drug-induced PAH and PVOD patients in the REHAP registry. When we analyzed only patients with all available variables of interest at baseline (World Health Organization functional class, 6-minute walk test, B-type natriuretic peptide or N-terminal pro-B-type natriuretic peptide) and included in the 4-strata model (n = 142), after a median follow-up of 58.2 months, 17.6% of patients died and 11.3% underwent lung transplant. The application of the 4-strata model in our population demonstrated a good prognostic capacity (Harrel c of 0.689), which was not improved by the introduction of genetics (c-index 0.690). This last model showed a tendency for a better identification of patients at intermediate-low and intermediate-high risk, and no differences between intermediate-high and high-risk strata.In this work, the addition of genetics to the COMPERA 4-strata model achieved a similar global prognostic capacity but changed the identification of different risk strata in a cohort of young genetically tested patients.

El artículo presenta una experiencia de cocreación que 32 estudiantes de ESDAPC realizaron junto con 43 participantes de dos entidades sociales que trabajan con colectivos en situación de vulnerabilidad: CRAE Intress y TEB Sant Andreu. El proyecto formó parte de Diseño para la inclusión, el proceso como resultado, una propuesta coproducida tanto por el Museu del Disseny de Barcelona como por la Asociación Ojalá Projects y comisariada por Anaïs Esmerado. En la primera edición del proyecto participaron seis escuelas de diseño de Barcelona con el objetivo de generar prácticas inclusivas a partir del diseño, insistiendo sobre todo en el proceso, en la evolución proyectual. ESDAPC contó con tres equipos mixtos equitativos (el número de estudiantes y usuarios era igual o similar) que durante tres meses realizaron seis sesiones de encuentro y cocreación. En cada una de ellas, los estudiantes propusieron diferentes metodologías con la intención de realizar un proyecto conjunto, participativo e inclusivo. Dichas sesiones fueron reforzadas por tutorías que se realizaron en la escuela, por varias conferencias de profesionales vinculadas con el diseño social y por una visita comentada al Museu del Disseny de Barcelona. Los resultados proyectuales fueron la transformación de algunos interiores del CRAE Intress, así como un manifiesto modular y un juego de mesa inclusivo para TEB Sant Andreu. Todos estos resultados fueron valorados positivamente tanto por los usuarios, como por las entidades y los organizadores. Sin embargo, lo más positivo de la experiencia fue el aprendizaje y el enriquecimiento que supuso para todos los participantes.

Resumen Introduccion y objetivos El tratamiento de la hipertension pulmonar tromboembolica cronica (HTPTEC) ha evolucionado en la ultima decada. Sin embargo, apenas se dispone de informacion sobre el impacto de estos logros en la poblacion general a escala nacional. Este estudio se diseno para describir las caracteristicas de los pacientes con HTPTEC en Espana en la ultima decada. Metodos Se recogieron prospectivamente datos epidemiologicos, clinicos y pronosticos de los pacientes con HTPTEC consecutivos incluidos en el registro espanol REHAP desde el 1 de enero de 2007 al 31 de diciembre de 2018. Se evaluaron las diferencias entre diferentes periodos de tiempo, estableciendo 2013 como fecha de referencia para el analisis. Se calculo la puntuacion de propension para la intervencion mediante un modelo multivariable de regresion logistica. Resultados Se incluyo a 1.019 pacientes; se remitio a 659 (64,4%) a un centro nacional de referencia en HTPTEC. Del total, se selecciono a 350 (34,3%) para cirugia y a 97 (9,6%) para tratamiento percutaneo. Entre los pacientes diagnosticados entre 2007 y 2012 hubo mas frecuencia de muerte que entre los diagnosticados de 2013 en adelante (HR = 1,83; IC95%, 1,07-3,15; p = 0,027). En el grupo de pacientes ajustado por el modelo de puntuacion de propension, las resistencias vasculares pulmonares basales y la distancia recorrida en el test de 6 min de marcha tambien fueron determinantes del pronostico (respectivamente, HR = 1,24; IC95%, 1,15-1,33; p = 0,011, y HR = 0,93; IC95%, 0,90-0,97; p = 0,001). Las tasas de supervivencia de los pacientes que se sometieron a un procedimiento intervencionista (trombendarterectomia pulmonar o angioplastia con balon de arterias pulmonares) resultaron llamativamente altas. Conclusiones Durante la ultima decada, el diagnostico y el pronostico de la HTPTEC han mejorado de manera considerable. La gravedad de la enfermedad al diagnostico determino el perfil de riesgo. Los pacientes a los que se realizaron trombendarterectomia pulmonar o angioplastia con balon de arterias pulmonares tuvieron mejores resultados.

Experimental tests of a small polygeneration plant unit based on hybrid renewable energy and desalination have been used to validate a novel model simulation of this plant. It provides electricity by coupling photovoltaic/thermal collectors and a micro-wind turbine, fresh water by means of hybrid desalination (membrane distillation, and reverse osmosis), and sanitary hot water coming from the photovoltaic/thermal collectors and an evacuated tubes collector. Plant was designed to operate in off-grid conditions and conventional energy storage systems were used (lead acid batteries and hot water tank). Simulation model was performed in TRNSYS environment and it was fully validated by comparing several key plant measurements. The analysis was focused on five typical days of summer, fall and winter. Some differences found in experimental and simulated values were analysed. To reduce those gaps, some modifications have been suggested to the model or the pilot unit respectively. As a result, a validated model in TRNSYS of the plant was obtained. This model can be used for the further scale up of new projects to cover any other scheduled demands of power and water in isolated areas, whenever is based on the combination of the abovementioned technologies.

Resumen La Dermatologia Estetica se ocupa de la belleza y apariencia de la piel, una parte importantisima de la imagen corporal. Los tratamientos utilizados en Dermatologia Estetica (higiene, hidratacion, proteccion, reparacion) buscan potenciar las caracteristicas propias de la piel, en su anatomia, funcion y vitalidad, y esto se traduce en mejoras del aspecto estetico. La comunicacion con el paciente es fundamental en la consulta medica y entendemos que la Dermatologia Estetica tiene connotaciones especiales que deben considerarse. En este articulo se presenta un modelo propio de tres pilares en la comunicacion con el paciente estetico y se exponen tres habilidades humanas como dichos pilares: asertividad, empatia y juicio critico.

Conventional genetic evaluations have been framed on estimated breeding values from equation systems of mixed models that consider simultaneously random and fixed effects. Recently, the develop-ment in genome sequencing technologies has allowed obtaining genomic information to include in genetic evaluations in order to increase the accuracy and genetic progress, and decrease the generation interval. The single-step best linear unbiased predictor is a methodolog y developed in the last years and accepts including genomic infor-mation replacing the genomic relationship matrix by a matrix that combines relationship by pedigree, and the genomic relationship of a genotyped popu-lation, allowing the estimation of breeding values for non-genotyped animals. The aim of this review article was to describe the methodolog y and its recent progress, as well as to know some of the strategies that could be used when the number of genotyped animals is low.

Cosmetic dermatology deals with the beauty and appearance of the skin - a most important element of body image. Treatments used in cosmetic dermatology (hygiene, hydration, protection, repair) aim to enhance the characteristics of the skin, its anatomy, its function, and its vitality, to produce aesthetic improvements. Communication with the patient is essential in medical consultations and we believe that it has special connotations in cosmetic dermatology that must be taken into account. In this article, we present a 3-pillar model for communication with cosmetic dermatology patients that rests on 3 skills: assertiveness, empathy, and critical judgement.

Given the importance of hydropower in the supply of electricity worldwide, we argue that the assessment of its impact on local ecosystems be included among generation costs. A cost-benefit analysis, based on an ecosystem services valuation approach, which includes the maximum value of ecosystem services before and after the implementation of hydropower projects has been considered. The study focuses in hydropower plant Baba, located in a tropical area, at the central coast of Ecuador, which it is part of a multifunctional project (flood protection, water supply and water transfer). It was found that the ecosystem services value decreased with the construction of the hydropower plant, the ecological balance returning losses for $ −314.7 million/yr. If these losses were added to the conventional hydropower cost assessment (investment and O&M), the generation costs would reach 0.4520 $/kWh. Furthermore, the plant was hypothetically redesigned to reduce the impact of water transfer to the conceding basin, an uncommon option as far as hydropower projects are concerned. This option led to better ecological performance and a significant reduction of hydropower generation costs (0.2723 $/kWh).

En este estudio se analiza la percepción de los padres, las madres y el profesorado tutor sobre quién toma la iniciativa de sus encuentros y los motivos para ello. Han participado 440 padres y 440 madres de las mismas unidades familiares con hijos e hijas en Educación Secundaria Obligatoria (ESO), y 35 tutores y tutoras de este alumnado. La recogida de información se realizó en las comunidades autónomas de Asturias y Canarias con la Escala de Relaciones entre la Familia y el Centro Escolar (Martínez-González, 1994). Los análisis comparativos realizados a través de la t de Student entre la perspectiva de cada uno de los progenitores/as y los tutores/as indican que todos los colectivos coinciden en señalar que contactan con poca frecuencia, y que cuando lo hacen es para comentar, en general, los progresos académicos de sus hijos e hijas. Los aspectos familiares y personales del alumnado, y la organización de actividades conjuntas no suelen ser motivo de las reuniones tutoriales. De ello se pueden extraer orientaciones y sugerencias de actuación. This study analyzes the perception of fathers, mothers and the tutor teachers about who takes the initiative of their meetings and the reasons for it. 440 fathers and 440 mothers of the same family unit with children in Compulsory Secondary Education (ESO), and 35 tutors of these students participated. The information was gathered in the autonomous communities of Asturias and the Canary Islands through the Scale on School-Family Relationship (Martínez-González, 1994). The comparative analyses between the perspective of each of the parents and the tutors were carried out through the Student's t, indicating that all the groups agree that they contact with little frequency, and when they do it is to comment, in general, on the academic progress of the children. Interest on the family and on other personal aspects of the students, and on organizing activities together with the parents are not usually reasons for tutorial meetings. From these results, guidelines and suggestions for action can be drawn.

The Guide to Good Practices in Positive Parenting is aimed at the services and professionals who carry out their work in the areas of Social Service, Education, Health, Justice, or in some other area where they work to develop counseling, guidance, intervention or support for families. It contains as a main instrument a Protocol of Good Practices that includes those aspects that characterize the professional task and the service of support to the families that are relevant from the approach of the positive parenthood and that can be object of improvement. The possibilities for improving professional practice and service are explored in three clearly interconnected areas of content: A) Characteristics of support services for families and organizational culture; B) Process of professional work with families, and C) Use of evidence-based programs aimed at families. The process of elaboration and application of the protocol of good practices and the results obtained in the pilot study is indicated. The use of the protocol has allowed identifying many good practices related to the three areas, being useful to be applied in very different devices and services, the importance of focusing on the family, strengths, rather than their deficiencies and greater unanimity was obtained time to judge the relevance and usefulness of the electronic evaluation tool

Solar energy is called to play a relevant role in meeting the energy requirements of heating and cooling in industry and households. Its widespread use depends on the development of cost-effective and highly-efficient systems. The joint installation of heat pumps and photovoltaic/thermal (PVT) panels can greatly contribute to these targets, since solar energy provides a heat source that allows operating the evaporator of the heat pump cycle at a higher temperature than the air temperature in winter. The coefficient of performance (COP) of the heat pump therefore increases because of the reduction of the electricity expense on the compressor. Additionally, the solar system is allowed to work in a low temperature range, so the heat loss from the collector to the surrounding areas decreases, resulting in higher collector efficiencies. The solar assisted heat pump is conceived in this work as a support system to be installed in existing facilities with yearly more or less constant thermal demands being supplied by conventional boilers. This paper shows the simulation of such a system, performed in Trnsys (a flexible graphically based software used to simulate the behaviour of transient systems specialized in the solar energy field), and its experimental validation. From the collecting operating parameters (irradiance, temperature, pressure and mass flow measured on the facility) and the actual design of the system defined by the size of the solar field, the storages and the heat pump capacity, the final objective of the work is to analyse the most appropriate size of the solar field, storage (water tanks) and heating power of the heat pump for optimizing the efficiency of the system. Results show that the working cold temperature ranges from 10 to 20 °C and the seasonal COP rose to 4.62, instead of 2.96 when working between 7 and 10 °C. The 67.6% of the electricity demanded by the heat pump is provided by the photovoltaic production (9309 kWh/yr of the 13,771 kWh demanded by the heat pump are renewable). The economic analysis indicates a payback period of about six years, what makes the proposal greatly attractive.

An exergy cost assessment of integrated solar multi-generation schemes, which includes cogeneration, trigeneration, and polygeneration schemes, for the joint production of electricity, fresh water, cooling, and process heat, is carried out. This evaluation process allows finding out the key equipment to improve the design, detect potential energy savings, and establish the best configurations of these schemes, in terms of unit exergy cost, total exergy cost, and exergy efficiency. The methodology includes modelling and evaluating the performance of solar multi-generation schemes and stand-alone systems, by applying the symbolic exergoeconomic methodology. The solar multi-generation schemes consider a concentrated solar power as the prime mover, which is coupled to a multi-effect distillation, an absorption refrigeration, and a process heat plant. Twenty-one configurations were investigated, twenty of them regarding solar multi-generation plants: eight of cogeneration, eight of trigeneration, four polygeneration schemes, and the other one considering stand-alone systems. This study reveals that the recommended configurations for the solar multigeneration schemes are those in which the desalination plant replaces the condenser of the power cycle, and the refrigeration plant, as well as the process heat module are coupled to turbine extractions. Furthermore, the main components contributing to the cost formation of electricity are, in this order, solar collectors, evaporator, and reheater. In the case of by-products generated, the main components are dissipative systems, solar collectors, and productive subsystems (multi-effect distillation, refrigeration, and process heat plants). In consequence, they constitute the key equipment that could be improved. Finally, solar multi-generation schemes are more cost effective than stand-alone systems. For instance, the best option within the polygeneration schemes analyzed allowed reducing the unit exergy cost about 6.8%, 59.2%, 45.6%, and 32.2% for electricity, water, cooling, and process heat respectively. Therefore, solar multi-generation schemes are identified as a promising alternative for zones with high irradiation conditions and scarcity of water, where the CSP technology can be the prime mover.

Tradicionalmente la educación ha destacado la importancia del desarrollo de competencias intelectuales en las personas para promover su mejor adaptación a sus contextos de interacción. En especial en los niños, niñas y adolescentes, y en el ámbito escolar, para que puedan alcanzar un adecuado rendimiento académico. Además del componente cognoscitivo, la educación del ámbito afectivo y emocional está recibiendo en la actualidad una sustancial atención social por la importancia que tienen las competencias emocionales para alcanzar un mejor ajuste personal y social del individuo en todas sus etapas evolutivas y en sus diversos contextos de interacción (Bisquerra y Mateo, 2019). Se ha llegado incluso a considerar que este es un tema relevante para la salud pública (Pérez-González et al., 2020). Ello es así si consideramos que las emociones se asocian al estado de ánimo y motivacional de la persona orientando su comportamiento y actitudes de modos diversos y, a veces, poco conscientes. De ahí la importancia de educar para desarrollar competencias emocionales e inteligencia emocional que permitan incrementar la consciencia sobre las propias emociones, ganar autonomía en su autorregulación y gestionar adecuadamente las relaciones interpersonales (Bisquerra, 2006). Ello tiene repercusión no solo en la satisfacción que alcance la persona consigo misma, sino también con los demás, así como en el sentimiento de bienestar personal, familiar, laboral o social (Brackett et al., 2011). Dado que la educación emocional está en un momento de expansión y son cada vez más los estudios que se llevan a cabo en este ámbito, es necesario considerar los criterios de calidad con que se realizan. Por ello, es preciso atender a los diversos enfoques, instrumentos y recursos que facilitan evaluar con calidad y rigor científico las emociones, la inteligencia y las competencias emocionales. A este respecto, se incluye en este monográfico el artículo elaborado por los profesores Rafael Bisquerra Alzina y Èlia López-Cassà de la Universidad de Barcelona, titulado La evaluación en la educación emocional: Instrumentos y recursos. Muchas de las publicaciones y estudios actuales sobre esta temática se centran en cómo desarrollar y mejorar la educación emocional en escolares dentro del contexto formal académico. A este respecto, en este monográfico, las profesoras Esperanza Ceballos-Vacas y Elisa Trujillo-González (Universidad de La Laguna) abordan una temática importante en educación emocional relacionada con el alumnado migrante y la multiculturalidad. En su trabajo titulado Las necesidades emocionales del alumnado migrante en la ESO: un estudio de caso en un instituto multicultural, realizado con metodología cualitativa en un Instituto de Educación Secundaria de Tenerife, identifican dificultades percibidas por este alumnado, y plantean la conveniencia de fomentar la educación en valores y el apoyo emocional, así como la educación intercultural. Además del contexto escolar, es preciso considerar la educación emocional con una perspectiva más amplia, multidimensional, multicontextual y dirigida a personas en todos los estadios evolutivos, ya sean niños, niñas, adolescentes, jóvenes o adultos (Alon y Higgins, 2005). Porque facilita el desarrollo de competencias para el ejercicio de los distintos roles que se han de asumir en la vida cotidiana en diversos ámbitos de interacción, ya sea el familiar, escolar, laboral o social. Entre estos contextos, el ámbito familiar requiere especial atención por ser la familia un agente educativo y socializador especialmente emocional y fundamental para el ser humano. En él se expresan y generan emociones de distinto signo de modo abierto y espontáneo; unas veces facilitadoras de la convivencia familiar y del desarrollo personal, y otras actuando como potenciales barreras limitadoras (Martínez-González et al., 2021), que pueden tener especial influencia en los más pequeños/as (Martínez-González e Iglesias, 2018). Por ello, es necesario analizar las competencias emocionales y sociales de los padres y madres y su satisfacción con su rol parental; este es un aspecto que requiere aún mayor investigación, dado que influye en el desarrollo emocional y social de los hijos e hijas (Cefai y Cavioni, 2014). Por ello, en este monográfico dedicado a la educación emocional, se han incluido varios artículos sobre temáticas de ámbito familiar desarrollados con metodología cuantitativa y cualitativa en distintos países, relativos a las competencias parentales emocionales y sociales, a su posible diferenciación en función del género y nivel educativo de las figuras parentales, a cómo las perciben los hijos e hijas adolescentes, y cómo promoverlas con programas de parentalidad positiva basados en evidencias. Se dedica también un artículo a analizar cómo estas emociones han acompañado a las familias durante el periodo de confinamiento provocado por la pandemia de la Covid-19, y cómo las ha condicionado. En concreto, el artículo realizado por las profesoras Raquel-Amaya Martínez-González, Beatriz Rodríguez-Ruiz y Mª Teresa Iglesias García (Universidad de Oviedo), titulado Estudio comparativo sobre competencias parentales en padres y madres con hijos e hijas adolescentes, realizado con una metodología cuantitativa, resalta la necesidad de que los progenitores (u otras figuras parentales) de ambos géneros cuenten con competencias emocionales y sociales que les permitan ejercer con eficacia su rol parental; especialmente en la etapa adolescente de los hijos e hijas donde las emociones adquieren gran relevancia. Como complemento a este estudio, las profesoras Beatriz Álvarez-González (Universidad Nacional de Educación a Distancia de España-UNED) y Luz Ivonne Zabaleta (Universidad Técnica Particular de Loja, Ecuador), ofrecen un análisis cuantitativo sobre las Percepciones de una muestra de adolescentes ecuatorianos sobre el apoyo social, la comunicación y la cohesión en sus familias. Diferencias por edad y sexo e implicaciones para la educación emocional. En él se aborda el punto de vista de los propios adolescentes sobre sus dinámicas familiares y las implicaciones emocionales derivadas de los resultados obtenidos. Por su parte, y como propuesta para responder a las necesidades emocionales de las familias, Silvia L. Vaca, María Aránzazu Cisneros y Nairoby Pineda (Universidad Técnica Particular de Loja, Ecuador) avanzan en su artículo Evaluación de un programa grupal de educación para progenitores: impacto en las competencias parentales, hacia la intervención sobre educación emocional con familias, ofreciendo resultados cuantitativos de la aplicación del Programa-Guía para el Desarrollo de Competencias Emocionales, Educativas y Parentales, publicado por el ministerio español competente en materia de infancia y familias. Programas parentales de este tipo seguramente son necesarios también para apoyar a las familias que afrontan las dificultades emocionales generadas por la pandemia de la Covid-19. Los profesores Alessandro Pepe, Elisabetta Biffi y Eleonora Farina (Universidad de Milano, Biccoca) analizan estas dificultades en el contexto italiano siguiendo una metodología cualitativa, cuyos resultados ofrecen en el trabajo titulado Feeling the emotions, finding the resources: a pathway toward balanced parenting? Con todo, este número monográfico sobre educación emocional pretende contribuir a incrementar los estudios realizados sobre esta temática y a promoverla en contextos variados desde una perspectiva multidimensional.

Photovoltaic–thermal panels (PVT) have been widely studied in the last years and have proved to be a technically viable and profitable solution. This work analyses the integration of a set of thermoelectric generators (TEG) inside these panels in order to obtain additional power. The thermoelectric material takes advantage of the temperature gap between the hottest part of the system, the output flow from the collector, and the cold water feeding the solar system. An experimental test bench with a PVT having integrated TEGs and the same PVT in parallel without TEGs was mounted to compare both devices. The corresponding CFD simulation was also carried out to better understand the temperature map in the arrangement. Both experimental and computational results show that the manufacture of the panel with integrated TEGs should be carefully studied before becoming a commercial product. They also gave some guidelines for the improvement of the prototype in this integrated product.

A real case study of an energy system based on a Solar Assisted Heat Pump (SAHP) fed by hybrid photovoltaic-thermal solar panels (PVT) and seasonal storage (SS) is presented in this paper. Exergy and exergy cost analyses are proposed as complementary methods for the assessment and better understanding of the efficiency of this cogeneration solar configuration. The system performance takes advantage of storage heat in summer, when the solar resource is high in Spain, and is then later consumed during the cold winter (heating season). The building is devoted to social housing, and it is currently under construction. The assessment is based on simulations developed using TRNSYS, a dynamic simulation software for energy systems. Results show that the unit exergy cost of the solar field is around 6. The cost of the seasonal storage is higher, about 13, and its formation is affected both by its own irreversibility and by the irreversibility of the PVT solar field. The cost of the heat delivered by the heat pump is around 15, being affected by all the upstream units and even by the grid. Besides, the analysis points out strategies for improving the system efficiency, such as increasing the size of the storage tank or improving the control strategy of the boiler.
