Changes in science and technology and future employment competencies are needed for lifelong learning necessity cultivating students' development and progress in 21st century competencies. The purpose of the study was to examine Jordanian student teachers' perceptions of whether their teacher education had prepared them for 21st-century competencies, and how well they applied these competencies to their classroom teaching. The study also identified best practices, major obstacles, and suggestions for achieving these competencies. The study was conducted in two universities in the South and three universities in the North of Jordan that offer teacher education programs. A mixed-methods approach was used for this study. The sample consisted of 457 Student teachers who completed a structured questionnaire with open-ended questions to assess 21st-century competencies. Quantitative data analysis relies on descriptive statistics and correlations, while qualitative data analysis relies on content analysis. Despite differences in competency, the student teachers achieved 21st-century competencies based on their self-assessment. Students' perceptions of whether they succeed in implementing 21st-century competencies in their classrooms were documented in this study. The best-achieved competency was collaboration, and the least well-achieved competency was global connections. Answers to open-ended questions provided convincing evidence that courses involving collaborative and interactive learning, high quality, sufficient support, relevant 21st-century competencies, and integrating theory and practice can contribute significantly to the development of student teachers' 21st-century competencies.

The study aims to characterize the structural features of Jordanian tar sand using analytical techniques including (FTIR, ultimate and proximate analysis, TGA, XRD, and XRF). The tar sand shows a low content of volatile matter (bitumen) with significant nitrogen content. The bitumen contains a high proportion of aliphatic hydrocarbons of which high content of it attached to oxygen atom. The minerals were mainly quartz and low concentration of carbonate with noticeable content of sulfite and potassium oxide from XRF. The recovery of bitumen was evaluated using three different extraction techniques: solvent extraction methods (ultrasound-assisted extraction, non-aqueous extraction) and thermal pyrolysis using the Fischer assay apparatus. The non-aqueous solvent extraction method gave the highest bitumen recovery using toluene as a solvent; however, the high-temperature Fischer assay method provided a low recovery. The extracted bitumen under the optimum condition was characterized using NMR, elemental analysis, and GC-MS analysis. The oil products from tar sand showed a high concentration of oxygen and noticeable concentration of sulfur atoms. The 1H-NMR revealed a high content of aliphatic hydrocarbons in good agreement with raw tar sand characteristics. Jordanian kaolinite was treated with two phosphate modifiers: sodium polyphosphate (MK 1) and sodium hexametaphosphate (MK 2). Both raw and modified kaolinites were characterised by XRD and FTIR techniques. The adsorption behaviour of Th(IV) and U(VI) ions onto the two modified kaolinites were studied as a function of dosage, contact time, pH and temperature. The adsorption isotherm of both metal ions onto modified kaolinite was investigated using Langmuir, Freundlich and Dubinin–Radushkevich (D-R) models, which fits better to the Langmuir model. MK 1 kaolinite showed higher metal ion uptake than MK 2 kaolinite for both ions. The metal ion uptake of Th(IV) ions on both modified kaolinites was significantly higher than that of U(VI) ions. The % adsorption efficiency (73.8 and 69.0%) of Th(IV) ions on MK 1 and MK 2 was significantly higher than that of U(VI) ions (35.0 and 13.3%). The adsorption capacities for Th(IV) (188.7 and 9.6 (mg/g)) and U(VI) (53.5 and 15.3(mg/g)) were improved when MK 1 and MK 2 kaolinites were used at 25°C. The thermodynamic studies indicated that the removal of U(VI) and Th(IV) ions using both modified kaolinites is spontaneous and favourable at higher temperatures. The positive entropy values indicated that the adsorption process increased the disorder of the system. The kinetic study had indicated that the pseudo-second-order kinetic model fit the adsorption data, suggesting a chemisorption nature of the adsorption process. Binary system experiments under optimised conditions showed higher removal of Th(IV) ions compared to U(VI) ions. The desorption study showed that the elution of both metal ions increased as the concentration of HNO3 increased. Both the modified kaolinites were regenerated three times, a slight reduction of their adsorption efficiency was observed, and the presence of interferences has the same effect. Introduction: Non-autoimmune sacroiliac joint pain contributes to nearly a quarter of low back pain patients. Non-surgical management fails to satisfy patients. A new minimally invasive technique for sacroiliac stabilization has been introduced, defying the traditional rules of fusion. The results outside explanatory trials and in day-to-day practice have not been reported. Materials and methods: This case series includes 20 patients diagnosed with chronic sacroiliac pain resistant to conservative management for at least 6 months. The diagnosis was confirmed with a positive sacroiliac injection. Patients underwent stabilization using the iFuse® implant. Patients were followed up for a minimum of one year. The primary outcome was the functional outcomes, assessed using VAS, ODI, and SF36. Secondary procedure rates, complication rates, and radiological assessments of fusion were collected as secondary outcomes. Results: At one year, the mean VAS score improved from 81.25 ± 10.7 SD preoperatively to 52.5 ± 26.8, p-value 0.0013. The mean ODI improved from 54.8 ± 11.21 SD preoperatively to 41.315 ± 15.34, P value = 0.0079. The mean PCS and MCS of SF36 improved by 17 and 20 points, respectively. Only 55% of patients achieved the MCID for the VAS score. 35% of the cohort had secondary procedures. Discussion: Minimally invasive sacroiliac fusion resulted in an improvement in mean functional scores with a wide dispersion. Patients not achieving MCID are patients with either a malpositioned implant, an associated lumbar pathology, or an inaccurate diagnosis. Our results are underwhelming compared to similar work but are still better than conservative cohorts in comparative studies. Conclusion: Minimally invasive sacroiliac fusion can be used successfully in select patients. Attention to diagnosis and surgical technique can improve the reproducibility of results.
