Artificial intelligence (AI) is increasingly embedded into service firms' operations. However, production systems and operations management scholars have not yet examined if AI-empowered service operations are positively judged by service customers. To bridge this gap, this study draws on the three-factor theory of customer satisfaction applied to online review data, to capture the effect of AI-empowered service operations on overall customer satisfaction, operationalised by means of online review ratings. Based on text analytics techniques applied to a sample of more than 50,000 TripAdvisor ORs covering 35 international hotels in Asia and America, we develop a penalty–reward contrast analysis. The findings reveal that the effects of customer interaction with mechanical AI on customer satisfaction with service operations are asymmetric: positive customer interaction with mechanical AI positively and significantly influences overall customer satisfaction with AI-empowered service operations, whereas negative customer interaction with mechanical AI does not significantly alter customer satisfaction. Taken together, these findings suggest that mechanical AI constitutes a key element of resilient AI-empowered service operations. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Objectives: The Journal of Conservative Dentistry and Endodontics (JCDE) is an English-language journal published by the Indian Association of Conservative Dentistry and Endodontics. It was indexed in PubMed in 2010 in periodical publications. The purpose of this paper was to review and analyze the publications in JCDE over the 6 years from 2019 to 2024. Materials and Methods: This article evaluated the subject, number, and type of articles published, key topics addressed, authorship patterns, and article citations of the JCDE over the last 6-year period. Results: A total of 750 papers were found, and the publication output peaked in 2024 when 133 articles were published. On average, each volume had 1.5 times as many publications on endodontic topics compared to restorative topics. An average of eleven articles per volume addressed multidisciplinary or other dental disciplines. Original research articles followed by literature reviews and case reports/series accounted for the most articles per volume. The most of the authors were from India followed by the Middle East, America, and other Asian countries. With about 2802 citations, the 2019 issue had the most citations. Esthetic Dentistry was the main topic in the top 10 most cited articles. JCDE has the 7th-highest h5-index across both endodontic and operative dentistry journals. Conclusions: Many manuscripts in endodontics, dental materials, restorative dentistry, and a few other pertinent specializations have been published in JCDE over the past 6 years. In the United States, segments of the population were suddenly and unexpectedly thrown into need during the COVID-19 pandemic and began to use food banks and other non-profit organizations providing food services. Here we examine the meaning of what we call the "new vulnerable." The pandemic became a test of the entire food system, and clearly exposed the need for a re-examination of preparedness in the short run, and vulnerability and resilience in the long term. We explore whether the demographics associated with the drivers of vulnerability (e.g., ageism, racism, ethnocentrism) have changed. The lived experiences of vulnerable groups are defined by a form of epistemic and structural injustice—the dismissal of the knowledge of their own lives and needs that socially marginalized groups experience. The meeting of architects that took place in 1548 was a turning point in the Cathedral of Jaén, since it was the beginning of the new Renaissance project that gave rise to a floor plan, which, even with Gothic reminiscences, is innovative. Architects and bishops remained faithful to it over time, which made it a well-known project not only in Spain, but also in America, which is why when building a cathedral many of them were inspired by Jaén, something that is reflected in their plans as we intend to demonstrate in this article. Aims: The aims of this study were to identify alcohol‐related population surveys administered in the Americas, determine which alcohol‐related measures are examined and identify coverage gaps regarding alcohol‐related measures. Methods: As part of the Global Information System on Alcohol and Health study, a systematic search was performed in accordance with the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta‐Analyses criteria to identify regionally or nationally representative survey reports of the general population from 1 January 2010 to 6 August 2019. Alcohol‐related measures extracted from surveys were categorized into 10 domains: alcohol consumption status; alcohol consumption; unrecorded alcohol consumption; drinking patterns; symptoms of dependence and/or harmful use; drinking during pregnancy; treatment coverage; second‐hand harms; economic; and other. Results: The systematic search identified 7417 survey reports, 94 of which were new and included in this study, with an additional 11 studies included from a previous systematic study of alcohol surveys. In total, 94 unique surveys and 161 unique survey waves were located, representing 105 unique survey questionnaires covering 30 countries. No population surveys were found for five member states; namely, Antigua and Barbuda, Dominica, Haiti, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines and Saint Kitts and Nevis. All countries with population‐based alcohol surveys had had a population survey probing alcohol use in the past year/month. Questions regarding heavy episodic drinking, alcohol use disorders, treatment‐seeking for alcohol use, drinking during pregnancy, harms to others and the amounts spent on alcohol were asked in 26, 25, 10, 6, 22 and 11 countries, respectively. Conclusions: The heterogeneity in alcohol‐related population surveys in the Americas from 2010 to 2019 limits their comparability throughout countries and over time. Future surveys should implement a standardized set of core questions to provide consistency in the monitoring of alcohol consumption and alcohol‐related harms. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee published in 1960 is still considered to be one of the most effective criticisms of racial prejudice depicting Atticus Finch as an example of a righteous person. However, the subsequent Go Set a Watchman (2015) has a different Atticus who seems to have changed his stand on race issues. This research employs Lucien Goldmann's genetic structuralism with comparative analysis to trace the development of Atticus Finch's approach to racism in Harper Lee's To Kill a Mockingbird (1960) and Go Set a Watchman (2015). This research examines the major social changes in the mid-20th century American South through Atticus' transformation from a hero for racial justice to a segregationist and racist. It explores how social pressures and personal struggles influence people's beliefs. This research further examines Jean Louise Finch's disenchantment with her father's changing views on race that portrays the generational and moral conflicts triggered by social transformation. The findings of this research are anticipated to offer profound understanding of how literature can mirror societal changes and offer valuable prescription for how the relation between history and literature can be understood. The continued presence of Confederate memorials in American public spaces has been under the microscope over the past decade in the wake of high-profile hate crimes, white supremacist protests, and cases of police brutality. What role might aspects of this timeline play in shifting attitudes toward whether such memorials should be removed or remain in place? Surveys conducted before and after the May 2020 murder of George Floyd by Minneapolis police offer preliminary insight into whether recent history (and the memories that remain) spurred changes in feelings toward the future of memorials nationwide, memorials across the South, the Confederate flag, and specific attempts to honor Confederate General Robert E. Lee. Results illustrate that public opinion consistently moved away from support for Confederate memorials from the fall of 2019 to the late summer of 2020, but not always in significant fashion. If representation furnishes the stage where political struggles play out, this stage can be alarmingly small. In this study, we examine whether social media campaigns in the 2022 Brazil elections are inclusive. Based on the triangulation of data provided by Brazil’s Electoral Supreme Court, national census, and approximately 80,000 Facebook posts and ads, our findings reveal that candidates who lacked resources were either absent from this platform or received significantly less engagement. Those who already belonged to Brazil’s political class and invested more on content promotion online were more successful in boosting their social media metrics. We also find that campaigns were highly concentrated on populous and rich municipalities, thereby neglecting hundreds of cities in these communication efforts. Overall, our results suggest that social media will reproduce, rather than subvert, existing forms of inequality and exclusion in Brazilian representative politics. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The purpose of this article is to examine the influence of social determinants of health on the global health problem of cardiovascular disease (CVD), particularly focused on the Americas. CVD, encompassing conditions such as coronary heart disease, heart failure, and cerebral vascular disease, is identified as the leading cause of mortality worldwide, with low- and middle-income countries bearing the brunt of its burden. The article discusses how factors such as economic status, education, physical environment, food supply, substance addiction, and health care accessibility contribute to the prevalence of CVD. Additionally, it explores current public health policies addressing CVD and provides recommendations for enhancing these policies to alleviate the burden of the disease. The recommendations include implementing tobacco control policies, raising the legal age for purchasing tobacco products, and advocating for comprehensive health care services. The article concludes by emphasizing the importance of tailored interventions, evidence-based policies, and evaluation strategies in combating CVD and improving public health outcomes. It highlights research on madness in Mexico, Mesoamerican sacrifice, madness in colonial Peru, the work of Julio Ruelas, Mexican cinema from the golden age, literary representations of madness, and tensions between witchcraft and evangelical doctrine in Andean communities. The objective of this text is to analyze the debate that occurred in the periodical press and in print in Spain and America about the Spanish-American independence and its possible peaceful and negotiated solutions. The ideas and approaches expressed in the early years of the 1820's by intellectuals, journalists and public men are reviewed, who used the periodical press, pamphlets and political pamphlets to highlight in the public debate the need to end the civil war and achieve the urgent pacification of America. It is based on the hypothesis that the vigorous debate in the Spanish American public sphere about independence and its solutions allowed the pacifist option to be maintained as a real and plausible possibility, despite the fact that the dominant tendencies favored the militarist option to address American discrepancies. The Jewish immigration journey to America began in 1654 when a Jewish community of 23 people arrived in New Amsterdam (New York) in North America and continued in the following years. This immigration adventure is mainly divided into three periods. The naming of these periods was influenced by the ethnic origins of the Jews who immigrated to America from Europe. These periods are the Sephardic Period, which covers the period between 1654-1820, the German Period, which refers to the period between 1820-1880, and finally, the Eastern European Period, which characterizes the period between 1881-1924. The Sephardic Period, which covers the years between 1654 and 1820, is divided into the Colonial Period (1654-1776) and the Early National Period (1776-1820). The Colonial Period is further classified as the Dutch Period (1654-1664) and the British Period (1664-1776). The difficult situation of the Jews living in Germany and later in Tsarist Russia, the laws enacted against them, their being forced to live under oppression and persecution, and great economic hardship forced Jews to migrate to America, known as the New World. In each wave of immigration, Jews faced great difficulties. Being uneducated and penniless, having to leave their families behind, not speaking English, and even their Jewish identity are the main reasons for their difficulties. Despite all this, American Jews have gained new rights and freedoms in the context of economy, education, politics, and culture. In this environment of freedom, they have achieved unimaginable success in almost every field. Jews who started as peddlers in America became rich enough to open stores and even establish banks. The children of uneducated Jews proved themselves as doctors, lawyers, and teachers. While achieving these successes, they had to overcome great hardships occasionally. As a result of all this, America has become the second homeland of the Jews after Israel, with a Jewish population of nearly seven million. On the other hand, this study, which aims to outline the immigration history of American Jews who play an active role in world politics and economy, is important in contributing to the understanding of American Jews themselves and their power. Alexis de Tocqueville's Democracy in America (1835, 1840) strongly influenced Western understandings of democracy. The dissemination and reception of Tocqueville's ideas had been studied in various countries, but not in Britain. While some scholars did notice the British influence on Tocqueville, few have asked the reverse question: how did he shape the British political lexicon, especially when it came to the issue of 'democracy'? Drawing on conceptual history and reception studies, this article examines the British uses and interpretations of Democracy in America in periodical reviews and parliamentary debates, with a few incursions into newspapers and monographs, from 1835 to 1885. I underline the dual nature of the British response to Tocqueville's work. Whereas in France and the USA, Tocqueville was identified as a liberal and read as such, in the British Isles, both conservatives and progressives tried to claim him as one of their own. The former argued that his book demonstrated the dangers of 'democracy', while for the latter it analysed both the challenges and benefits of the democratic age. Through this study of this double claiming of Tocqueville, I illustrate larger trends in the uses of 'democracy' and plea for an historical and reflexive understanding of current debates. Aims: Heart failure (HF) is a highly prevalent and progressive condition associated with significant morbidity and mortality rates. Acute decompensated HF precipitates millions of hospitalizations each year. Despite therapeutic advances, the overall prognosis of HF is poor. The varying clinical courses and outcomes of patients with this disease may be due to region‐specific gaps and since most HF studies are conducted in developed countries, the participation of Latin American and Caribbean countries is low. Considering this, the American Registry of Ambulatory and Acute Decompensated Heart Failure (AMERICCAASS) aims to characterize the population with ambulatory and acute decompensated HF in the American continent and to determine rehospitalization and survival outcomes during the 12 months of follow‐up. Methods and results: AMERICCAASS Registry is an observational, prospective, and hospital‐based registry recruiting patients with ambulatory or acute decompensated HF. The registry plans to include between two and four institutions per country from at least 20 countries in the Americas, and at least 60 patients recruited from each participant institution regardless of their ambulatory or acutely decompensated condition. Ambulatory patients with confirmed HF diagnosis or inpatients presenting with acute decompensated HF will be included. Follow‐up will be performed at 12 months in ambulatory patients or 1, 6, and 12 months after hospital discharge in acutely decompensated HF patients. This ongoing study began on 1 April 2022, with recruitment scheduled to end on 30 November 2023, and follow‐up on 31 January 2025. Ethics approval was obtained from the Biomedical Research Ethics Committee of Fundación Valle del Lili. Data collected in the AMERICCAASS registry is being stored on the electronic platform REDCap (Research Electronic Data Capture), which allows different forms for patient groups to enable unbiased analyses. For quantitative variables comparison, we will use the Student's t‐test or non‐parametric tests accordingly. Categorical variables will be presented as proportions, and groups will be compared with Fisher's exact test. The significance level will be <0.05 for comparisons. Readmissions and post‐discharge mortality will be calculated as proportions at 1, 6, and 12 months, with a survival analysis by conditional probability and the Kaplan–Meier method. Conclusions: AMERICCAASS Registry is intended to be the most important registry of the continent for obtaining important information about demographics, aetiology, co‐morbidities, and treatment received, either ambulatory or hospitalized. El presente trabajo analiza las representaciones de América y los americanos en el siglo XVIII con base en los conceptos de hibridación cultural de García Canclini y de tradición de Ambrosio Velasco. La primera parte del estudio examina la hibridación del territorio americano según las dos ediciones de la Enciclopedia de Diderot, destacando la complejidad discursiva en torno al concepto del salvaje propuesto por Cornelius De Pauw. Posteriormente, se realiza una revisión crítica de las interpretaciones nacionalistas de Xavier Clavijero, cuestionando su supuesta defensa de los antiguos mexicanos a través del análisis de narrativas que entrelazan poderes hegemónicos e identidades invisibilizadas.

Research universities in the United States regard teacher academic entrepreneurship as an important way to extend the knowledge production chain, to promote the achievement transformation and to fulfill the social service function. However, teachers play a dual role as scholars and entrepreneurs in the process of academic entrepreneurship. Moreover, due to the cross-impact of academic culture and entrepreneurial culture, as well as the blurred boundary between traditional functions and academic entrepreneurship in research universities, teachers therefaces commitment conflicts in the process of academic entrepreneurship. The conflict of commitment is manifested in three aspects: teaching, research and social service. In addressing the commitment conflicts faced by teachers in academic entrepreneurship, Research universities in the United States adopt a comprehensive approach focusing on system construction, cultural atmosphere, role identity, duty boundaries, and distribution mechanisms. They establish a prior approval and post-disclosure system, foster a symbiotic environment where academic culture and entrepreneurial culture coexist, adhere to multiple norms of acade-mic and entrepreneurial work, and create a benefit-sharing and distribution mechanism. This approach aims to transform conflicts into mutual benefit and win-win outcomes, better balancing teachers' responsibilities and commitments in academic entrepreneurship, teaching and research, and social ser-vice, ultimately facilitating their transition into academic entrepreneurs.
