Background and purpose: Self-care is recognized as a fundamental approach in the field of providing, maintaining, and promoting health in individuals, families, and society. Providing essential training in the field of self-care is one of the important tasks of primary health service systems to the community, including household health ambassadors. On the other hand, determining the educational needs of self-care in each society should be based on the educational needs assessment in the same society. Therefore, the present study was conducted to determine the educational priorities of self-care using the educational needs assessment of health ambassadors. Materials and methods: The current study is a cross-sectional study (descriptive-analytical). The research community included household health ambassadors living in the Golestan and Mazandaran provinces. Entry criteria included being family health ambassadors, being between the ages of 20 and 60, and volunteering to enter the program. Also, the exclusion criteria included the health ambassador's unwillingness to participate in the evaluation. The study tools included a demographic questionnaire and a researcher-made questionnaire on "self-care educational needs" for health ambassadors. The health ambassadors' needs assessment questionnaire was the result of self-care educational priorities based on a general survey of the community, which was scored by the health ambassadors. Data analysis was done using SPSS version 20 software. U-Mann-Whitney and Kruskal-Wallis tests were used to analyze the data. Results: Results showed that the average age of health ambassadors participating in the study was 38.11±9.64 years. 987 people (57.8 percent) of them were health ambassadors of Golestan province and 721 people (42.2 percent) of them were health ambassadors of Mazandaran province. Also, concerning the participants' gender, 1439 people (84.3%) were women and 269(15.7%) were men. The educational needs assessment showed the top 10 priorities among self-care education topics determined by household health ambassadors, including stress and anxiety, healthy eating, life skills, parenting skills, water hygiene, inactivity, depression, skeletal problems, and lack of vitamins. , and oral and dental health. Abstract Background One of the most common causes of death worldwide is cardiopulmonary arrest. Firefighters are among the first responders at the scenes of accidents and can, therefore, play a key part in performing basic cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) for victims who need it. The present study was conducted to compare the effects of simulation training against workshops on the CPR knowledge and skills of firefighters in the south of Iran. Methods This experimental (Interventional) study was conducted on 60 firefighters of south of Fars province, Iran. The study was undertaken from March to July 2023. Through random allocation, the participants were divided into two groups: simulation-based training (30 members) and traditional workshop training (30 members). The participants’ CPR knowledge and practical skills were measured before, immediately after, and three months after intervention. Introduction and purpose: The COVID-19 pandemic is still one of the major challenges faced by health systems around the world. Knowledge, attitude, practice, and acceptance of the COVID-19 vaccine are important factors in encouraging people to inject the vaccine. This study was conducted to investigate the effectiveness of people's knowledge, attitude, and practice regarding the acceptance of the COVID-19 vaccination. Methods: This study was a systematic review based on articles published in 2019-2022 that examined the knowledge, attitude, practice, and acceptance of community members regarding the COVID-19 vaccine. A total of 14 databases and 56 articles were evaluated. Databases included Web of Science, Cochrane Library, PubMed, CINAHL, Google Scholar, Ovid, Science Direct, WILEY, Scopus, Pro-Quest, Medline, Elsevier, Magiran, and SID. Results: After analyzing the articles, abstracts, and main texts, 13 articles, all of which were descriptive-cross-sectional studies, were selected for the final analysis. It was found that 61.5% (n=8) of studies showed a high and acceptable level of knowledge, 30.7% (n=4) a high level of attitude, 15.3% (n=2) an average level of practice, and 23% (n=3) a high level of acceptance toward COVID-19 vaccine. Conclusion: People's level of knowledge about the COVID-19 vaccine was at a high level. Nevertheless, people's attitude towards the injection of the COVID-19 vaccine and its effectiveness, and consequently, the acceptance of this vaccine and the willingness to inject it was at a low level. Therefore, health system policymakers should take measures according to the cultural background of the societies to encourage people to inject the vaccine against COVID-19.

Background & objective: With the increase in the population of the aged, one of the most crucial issues that can result in serious health consequences is elder abuse. This study aimed to estimate the prevalence of elder abuse and its subtypes in Iran. Materials & Methods: This is a systematic review and meta-analysis based on PRISMA guidelines. Relevant keywords were used for database search in Scopus, PubMed, Web of Science. All of the search and data extraction process was conducted independently by two researchers. JBI checklist was used for risk of bias assessment. The data were cleaned and analyzed using Biostat, (Comprehensive Meta-Analysis). The meta-analysis was performed using Random Effects Model, and I2 index was calculated for assessing heterogeneity. Results: Twenty-three articles were finally analyzed. The data of 6,298 individuals were analyzed, which were significantly heterogeneous (I2= 99.38). The prevalence of elder abuse was 55% (95% CI: 0.42-0.68). The subtype with the highest prevalence was emotional neglect (39%, 95% CI: 0.29-0.50), while the lowest prevalence was related to social rejection (15%, 95% CI: 0.11-0.19) Conclusion: All types of elder abuse are highly prevalent in Iran. Therefore, it is crucial to develop evidence-based comprehensive plans to better identify, intervene, and prevent this issue.

Abstract Nurses play a key role in medication safety and, by extension, patient safety. Evaluation of medication safety competence in nurses requires valid, specific, and comprehensive instruments. The present study was conducted to translate and psychometric assessment a Persian version of medication safety competence scale (MSCS) for clinical nurses in Iran. This is a cross-sectional and multi-centric work of research with a methodological design. A total of 1080 clinical nurses were selected from 5 cities located in Iran. The original version of the MSCS was translated into Persian and the psychometric properties of MSCS were assessed using COSMIN criteria. The exploratory factor analysis (EFA) showed that the factor loading of the 36 items was between 0.72–0.87, all of which were significant. The confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) fitted the data well (χ2/df = 7, RMSEA = 0.01, CFI = 0.96, NFI = 0.95, and TLI = 0.97). The reliability of the instrument was assessed in terms of its internal homogeneity where the Cronbach's alpha of the whole instrument was found to be 0.96. The Persian version of MSCS for nurses possesses satisfactory validity and reliability. Thus, nurse managers can use this instrument to measure medication safety competence in nurses.

Background: Constipation is one of the most prevalent problems during old age. Abdominal massage is a complementary method in controlling constipation. This study is conducted with the aim of determining the effect of abdominal massage with extra-virgin olive oil on constipation among the elderly. Methods: In this single-blind randomized controlled clinical trial, 54 old individuals in Shiraz nursing homes during November 2018-March 2019 were selected randomly and then allocated to three groups of 18, based on block randomization. The first group underwent abdominal massage with olive oil for five consecutive days (each day one time for 15 minutes). The second group underwent abdominal massage with water similar to the first group. No specific intervention was applied to the control group. All three groups received their medical treatment. The constipation scores were examined using constipation assessment scale (CAS) before the intervention and on the sixth day. Data analysis was done through SPSS 22 using Chi-square, paired t-test, and ANOVA. P˂0.05 was considered as the level of statistical significance. Results: There were no statistically significant differences among the three groups before the intervention. The results demonstrated that the mean score of constipation further decreased in the olive oil group (5.62±1.89 to 2.06±0.99) (P≤0.001) than the massage with water (5.05±1.25 to 3.11±0.99) (P=0.02), and the control group (4.44±1.38 to 5.22±1.35) (P=0.006). Conclusion: Due to the greater effectiveness of abdominal massage with extra-virgin olive oil, the use of this method is recommended in treatment of constipation among the elderly.
