Industry 4.0 is a term connotated with the development of software services able to percept and act in industrial environments. A common characteristic is the availability of data and information in the format of streams which are available for building new industrial processes. In this paper, an architecture of an application able to process different inputs in the creation of electronic work instruction and the optimisation of standard work is presented. It is recognized in Ambient Intelligence that ambient devices should be modeled as intelligent autonomous components rather than passive information sources. The agent paradigm suits well for representation of both intelligent ambient devices and humans. However, modeling complex cognitive dynamics from which intelligent behavior of agents emerges is not trivial. In this paper a formal framework is proposed for declarative modeling of cognitive processes and behavior of agents in an ambient intelligence system. Models obtained by the framework are executable and can be used directly for simulation and analysis. The framework provides rich analysis possibilities of qualitative and quantitative properties, specified at local (agent) and global (system) levels. An application of the framework in the context of a subway evacuation case is described in the paper.

In this paper we address the role of divergence and convergence in creative processes, and argue about the need to consider them in Computational Creativity research in the Genetic or Evolutionary Programming paradigm, being one ́s goal the problem of the Halt Condition in Genetic Programming. Here the candidate solutions are seen as evolutionary logic programs or theories, being the test whether a solution is optimal based on a measure of the quality-of-information carried out by those logical theories or programs. Furthermore, we present Conceptual Blending Theory as being a promising framework for implementing convergence methods within creativity programs, in terms of the logic programming framework.

In this work it is addressed the problem of knowledge evaluation in a VirtualECare Group Decision Supporting System (GDSS), in terms of an Multi-valued Extended Logic Programming language, which is aimed at sustaining online healthcare services. Indeed, reasoning with incomplete and uncertain knowledge have to be dealt with, due to the particular nature of the healthcare services, where the awful consequences of bad decisions, or lack of timely ones, demand for a responsible answer.

Visible and near infrared (Vis-NIR) spectroscopy is a non-destructive analytical method that can be used to complement, enhance or potentially replace conventional methods of soil analysis. The aim of this research was to predict the particle size distribution (PSD) of soils using a Vis-NIR) spectrophotometry in one irrigate field having a vertisol clay texture in the Karacabey district of Bursa Province, Turkey. A total of 86 soil samples collected from the study area were subjected to optical scanning in the laboratory with a portable, fiber-type Vis-NIR spectrophotometer (AgroSpec, tec5 Technology for Spectroscopy, Germany). Before the partial least square regression (PLSR) analysis, the entire reflectance spectra were randomly split into calibration (80%) and validation (20%) sets. A leave-one-out cross-validation PLSR analysis was carried out using the calibration set with Unscrambler (R) software, whereas the model prediction ability was tested using the validation (prediction) set. Models developed were used to predict sand and clay content using on-line collected spectra from the field. Results showed an "excellent" laboratory prediction performance for both sand (R-2 = 0.81, RMSEP = 3.84% and RPD = 2.32 in cross-validation; R-2 = 0.90, RMSEP = 2.91% and RPD = 2.99 in the prediction set) and clay (R-2 = 0.86, RMSEP = 3.4% and RPD = 2.66 in cross validation; R-2 = 0.92, RMSEP = 2.67% and RPD = 3.14 in the prediction set). Modelling of silt did not result in any meaningful correlations. Less accurate on-line predictions were recorded compared to the laboratory results, although the on-line predictions were very good (RPD = 2.24-2.31). On-line predicted maps showed reasonable spatial similarity to corresponding laboratory measured maps. This study proved that soil sand and clay content can be successfully measured and mapped using Vis-NIR spectroscopy under both laboratory and on-line scanning conditions.

A typical pervasive application executes in a changing environment: people, computing resources, software services and network connections come and go continuously. A robust pervasive application needs adapt to this changing context as long as there is an appropriate rewiring strategy that guarantees correct behavior. We combine the MERODE modeling methodology with the ReWiRe framework for creating interactive pervasive applications that can cope with changing environments. The core of our approach is a consistent environment model, which is essential to create (re)configurable context-aware pervasive applications. We aggregate different ontologies that provide the required semantics to describe almost any target environment. We present a case study that shows a interactive pervasive application for media access that incorporates parental control on media content and can migrate between devices. The application builds upon models of the run-time environment represented as system states for dedicated rewiring strategies.

This paper addresses the integration of Information, Communication and Automation Technologies (ICAT) in the dwelling space in order to meet the user’s needs. We describe an ongoing PhD research which deals with the rehabilitation of the existing housing stock in order to fulfil the new needs of dwellers in the current Information Society as well as the impact of the integration of ICAT in dwellings. For this purpose we establish a rehabilitation methodology which enables architects to fulfil the client’s needs and requirements in home automation, from the beginning of the architectural process. This will enable the creation of a compatible and properly integrated ICAT infrastructure in homes,paving the way for ambient intelligence and promoting sustainable strategies at the environmental and social levels.
