Many studies have been devoted to bilingualism but issue of subjective representations about bilingualism has been little explored. The present study examined the results of the psychosemantic research of men’s and women’s subjective representations about people associated with the foreign language (FL) learning process, in other words, artificial bilingual (AB) development. The original method of Specific semantic differential was used to study and reconstruct the system of meanings that underlie the interpersonal perception of people included in the FL learning process. Results showed that the semantic spaces of subjective representations about people associated with the FL learning process, have the same dimension, but differ in content: semantic space for males is based on factors “authority – ordinariness”, “unpleasant – agreeable” and “courage – caution”; for females – “enthusiasm – apathy”, “unpleasant – agreeable” and “modesty – arrogance”. The novelty of the study lies in the use of the pool data method as a method for comparing factors of the structures of two samples, which allows us to identify gender differences in interpersonal perception: males perceive people included in the FL learning process as more active, responsible, mobile and hardworking, females - as more level-headed, indifferent and distant.

In mobile traffic transmission networks, the limited allotted spectrum-involving voice communication and data communication-is faced with the problem of limited bandwidth and consequent traffic congestion. The problem leads to poor communication services like incomplete calls, call drops, slower Internet speed, higher cost of internet service, and other undesirable effects by the service providers. The bandwidth saturation and congestion conundrum still remains critical research area, especially with emerging multitude of edge and intermediate Internet devices. Due to introduction of fog computing such devices become active participants of mobile traffic transmission. In this paper, we consider the Data Interleaving Technique in Mobile Communication (DITMC) and introduce the DITMC-based methodology for reducing the data traffic congestion and bandwidth saturation in GSM networks. The methodology is supported with an Erlang formula model, and our simulation experiments indicate the efficiency. We show that the use of methodology can be extended to other Internet problems like multi-path routing of data streams, active subscription control in smart spaces, and possibility to delegate supplementary processing to edge devices.

The use of wireless technologies and low-capacity devices is now inevitable in smart spaces development for Internet of Things (IoT). A smart space is created by deploying a Semantic Information Broker (SIB) on a host device. This paper examines the applicability of a wireless router for being a SIB host device and creating a smart space in the IoT environment. CuteSIB is one of SIB implementations in the Smart-M3 platform and the focus is on Qt-based devices. We provide a technique for creating an OpenWrt-based embedded system composed of CuteSIB software components for a smart spaces deployment using a cross-compiling method. The resulting embedded system is used to deploy the SmartRoom system — a Smart-M3-based application that creates a virtual shared workspace in a multimedia equipped room to support collaborative activity of participants. Our experiments confirm that capacity of a wireless router is satisfactory for deployment of this class of Smart-M3 applications.

The paper provides overview of research and development cooperation established by Petrozavodsk State University (PetrSU) with Russian and Finnish industrial, research and educational organizations. Over the years, PetrSU has developed experience, infrastructure and necessary resources for efficient cooperation with foreign partners, and now successfully collaborates with leading Finnish, Russian and international companies, as well as small and medium-sized enterprises. This cooperation is also closely linked to student education and creativity. Index Terms—Software systems, Mathematical program- ICT, system engineering, and education technologies in ICT. The staff of all units has 5-35 years of experience in scientific and commercial activity. The total number of staff is about 400 people, including full-time employees - 50%, teaching staff - 25%, students and post-graduate students - 25%. Mission of IT-park is to promote hi-tech products in Nordic countries and the Russian Federation by building on the existing scientific-educational and technological potential of its personnel; by formulating uniform policy, and by coordinating the activity among its entities. A distinctive feature of IT-park is automation of non- typical and complex business-processes by exploiting mathematical methods to solve complex problems such as optimizing planning and resource allocation, trim, and composition.

The paper describes research and development of software system for optimal planning of sawmill operation. This work is a part of long-term activity carried out by Petrozavodsk State University (PetrSU) in the field of scientific research, software development and customer projects for enterprises of pulp-and-paper and forestry industry of Russia. The system uses advanced mathematical models and optimization algorithms, developed by IT-park of PetrSU, to solve a series of planning tasks for any number of orders and any configuration of process equipment of a hardwood sawmill. The developed mathematical model takes into account all features, limitations and parameters of process equipment, as well as of raw material and production orders. The efficiency of solutions had been validated on real production data of several sawmills in Russia. The system has friendly and flexible user interface and can be easily modified to handle new customer-specific requirements.

In this paper, we show that Russian state educational standards “Applied Mathematics and Computer Science” and “Information Systems and Technology” are appropriate for teaching students to industrial programming tools and technology on open platforms. We introduce our scheme of study courses that provides mastering students to the software development competences. The core of scheme is the course on Software Engineering (SE) for 3rd year students. The approach essentially facilitates “the phase transition” of a student personality from her/his educational activity to the labor one, accelerating admission of graduates into manufacturing processes of the software industry. The approach applicability is demonstrated with examples of software engineering projects for Nokia Internet tablets on open platform Maemo Diablo 4.1.
