Shell description PROTOCONCH (Fig. 3K of paratype 4). One flat whorl, coarse pitted sculpture; raised flexuous lip with rim at transition to teleoconch, transition clear by change in sculpture; diameter 0.20 mm. TELEOCONCH (Fig. 3A–B). Flattened upper spire and disk-shaped outline with strongly protruding margins of selenizone; flexuous axial ribs; pear-shaped aperture with slit; suture deep. Height 1.3 mm, width 2.1 mm, height of aperture 0.85 mm (60 % of total height); colour opaque grayish white. 2¼ regular whorls with flattened, slightly convex shoulder area and rounded base, selenizone slightly above periphery; suture well below selenizone of penultimate whorl in last half of body whorl. Teleoconch I from protoconch to start of selenizone: ¾–1 convex whorl, in plane with protoconch; about 15 strong axial ribs, flexuous; no spiral cord. Teleoconch II with selenizone: initial whorl about 30 axial ribs, last ¼ whorl of body whorl about 22 axial ribs; bifurcating and closely spaced near lip. Margins of selenizone sharply protruding upwards or sideways near the lip. Axial ribs on external margins of selenizone; inside margins smooth. Frequency of axial ribs below selenizone similar to that above; rough growth lines between ribs, typically 3–6 major stages. Umbilicus open, tortuous and deep; steeply spiralling keel at union of columellar callus with parietal area (Fig. 3A of holotype and 3C, E, G of paratypes). APERTURE (Fig. 3A). Rounded base, funnel-shaped towards selenizone, pointed at union with penultimate whorl. Columellar lip sharp, protruding, rounded at base, flexuous towards parietal area; parietal callus thin and reclining. Semi-circular lower lip; slit slightly above periphery with concave edge of lip on either side, slit ¼ whorl deep with flattened sharp margins above and below. Callus thin; inside aperture smooth. VARIATION. Little morphological variation of shell. Variable length of selenizone I and number of axial ribs. Adult height range 1.1–1.4 mm; width range 2.1–2.2 mm. (SMF 358983), I19_Ma_79, H 0.79 mm, W 1.48 mm, Ha 0.62 mm. Scale bars: 0.1 mm. Anatomical description Snout smooth, broad, flattened with one symmetrical front lobe with pointed front margins on left and right sides (Fig. 4D–E). No eyes observed. Broad cephalic tentacles, tapered, with eight rounded lobes, deeply folded between lobes, gradually decreasing in diameter towards bluntly rounded tip, nonpapillate. Foot small when contracted, with irregular surface. Four epipodial appendages on right side; anteriorly two smaller, papillate epipodial tentacles and two large ones posteriorly; the most posterior probably epipodial sensory organ (ESO; Sasaki et al. 2010; Haszprunar et al. 2017). Three epipodial appendages on left side; small papillate tentacle anteriorly; second smaller epipodial tentacle or small ESO; most posteriorly a large ESO. Visceral mass with little more than one whorl. Mantle smooth with rounded margin, non-papillate. OPERCULUM (Fig. 4). Yellowish transparent, thin, corneous, multispiral (about 10 whorls) with central nucleus. RADULAR TEETH. Configuration 30–4–1–4–30; width 0.10 mm. Central tooth broad cusp, directed anteriorly. Four lateral teeth on either side. Inner marginal teeth with multiple large curved hooks on thick stems changing towards external margin into long and thin stems with fine cusps at external margin. Distribution Central Indian Ridge, 23– 26° S, 69– 70° E, depth 2560–3296 m. Habitat Living on rocky surface with bacterial mats near active and inactive vents. Shells frequently covered by red bacterial deposit. Remarks Shells of Anatoma discapex sp. nov. are similar to those of Anatoma umbilicata (Jeffreys, 1883), an Atlantic and Mediterranean species from depths of 200–2300 m, Anatoma parageia Geiger & Sasaki, 2009 from intertidal zones in eastern Japan and Anatoma hyposculpta Geiger, 2012 from the tropical SW Pacific at depths of 730–1620 m (Geiger 2012). All these species show a flattened shoulder but lack the discoid apical outline and the coarse axial sculpture. Shell description PROTOCONCH (Fig. 11F). One slightly elevated whorl, evenly rounded, sculpture small, irregularly oriented, straight or curved, short ridges; few spiral striae; smooth straight rim near margin; sharp flexuous lip, protrusion at periphery; transition to teleoconch clear by change in sculpture; diameter 0.21 mm. TELEOCONCH (Fig. 11D–E). With elevated spire, swollen whorls with protruding margins of selenizone; with spiral cordlets; rounded aperture with slit; suture deep. Height 1.0 mm, width 1.2 mm, height of aperture 0.7 mm (70 % of total height); colour translucent grayish white. 2¼ regular whorls with convex shoulder area and rounded base, selenizone slightly above periphery. Teleoconch I from protoconch to start of selenizone: slightly more than one well-rounded whorl, descending below protoconch; smooth, with up to six spiral cordlets, numerous prosocline growth lines. Teleoconch II with selenizone: slightly more than one whorl; shoulder area with seven spiral cordlets at the lip margin; new weaker cordlets emerging between older ones. Margins of selenizone sharply protruding outwards; growth lines on external sides of selenizone; inside margins smooth; surface between margins smooth with curved growth lines (Fig. 11B, E, H). Base body whorl smooth background with about 20 irregularly spaced spiral cordlets and about 60 regular axial riblets; spiral and axial sculpture stronger in umbilical area (Fig. 11G). UMBILICUS. Open, tortuous and deep; steep smoothly curved spiral keel ending at base of columellar callus (Fig. 11D, G). APERTURE (Fig. 11D). With semi-circular rounded base, funnel-shaped towards selenizone, convex shoulder, pointed at union with penultimate whorl, well rounded on parietal and columellar side. Lip sharp; protruding, oblique on columella with minor rib joining in v-shape with columellar keel (Fig. 11G); rounded towards base and parietal area with thin callus. Slit ¼ whorl deep with flattened sharp margins above and below, lip prosocline, union perpendicular to penultimate whorl (Fig. 11E). Callus thin; inside aperture smooth. Anatomical description Animal unknown; the soft parts of the live-collected specimen have been used for molecular analyses or retained in ethanol for future studies. Habitat Living on rocky surface with bacterial mats near active and inactive vents. Distribution Central and SE Indian Ridge, 23– 28° S, 69– 74° E, depth 2469–3296 m. Remarks The lack of distinct and regular spiral and or axial sculpture is uncommon. The outline is similar to that of Anatoma africanae (Herbert, 1963) from the Gallieni Fracture Zone, south of Madagascar at a depth of 400 m, but this species has a distinct and fine axial and spiral sculpture.

Rounded base, columella and parietal area; flattened shoulder, funnel-shaped selenizone, pointed union with penultimate whorl. Lip sharp, strongly reclining at union with penultimate whorl, protruding at upper shoulder and columella, thin reclining callus at parietal area; disk-shaped lower lip; slit above periphery, slit ¼ whorl deep with flattened sharp margins above and below. Callus thin; inside aperture smooth. VARIATION. Little morphological variation of the shell. 40–50 axial ribs on body whorl. Adult height range 0.9–1.0 mm; width range 1.3–1.5 mm; H/W ratio range 0.65–0.70. Anatomical description Body is translucent white anteriorly with orange-brown internal organs in the visceral mass; white radula visible inside translucent neck area. Snout smooth, broad, flattened with two symmetrical lobes in front covered by one flat convex margin on the antero-dorsal part of the snout (Fig. 9D–E). No eyes observed. Pair of broad cephalic tentacles, tapered, with six rounded lobes, deeply folded between lobes, tip blunt, non-papillate. Foot small in contracted form, with irregular surface. Epipodium with five pairs of appendages (Fig. 9D–E). Anteriorly, three pairs of epipodial tentacles or possibly small ESOs, marginally papillate. Posteriorly, pair of large ESOs and pair of small epipodial tentacles below the operculum. Mantle smooth with rounded margin, non-papillate. OPERCULUM (Fig. 9). Yellowish transparent, thin, corneous, multispiral with central nucleus, number of whorls uncertain. RADULA (Fig. 10). With central, lateral and marginal teeth arrangement: 21–4–1–4–21; width 0.15 mm. Central cusped tooth with 5 curved denticles (Fig. 10A), largest central denticle, smaller towards margin; 4 lateral teeth on either side with curved tips and 2 denticles on each tooth, proximal denticle larger than distal denticle; 21 marginal teeth (Fig. 10C), proximal marginal teeth with 1–3 hooked (curved) denticles (Fig. 10E), distal marginal teeth ending in strongly curved cusp with 6–10 symmetricallyplaced, curved denticles (Fig. 10D). Distribution Central and SE Indian Ridge, 23– 28° S, 69– 74° E, depth 2469–3049 m. Habitat Living on rocky surface with bacterial mats near active and inactive vents. Shells frequently covered by red bacterial deposit. Remarks Shells, anterior soft parts and radulae of Anatoma laevapex sp. nov. are similar to those from Anatoma declivis sp. nov. However, the shell of the latter species has fewer and coarser axial ribs including on teleoconch I; its protoconch is sunken. A taxonomic review of the genus Anatoma Woodward, 1859 in the Eurasian Arctic seas is presented. The new species A. golikovi sp. nov. is described from the northwestern part of the Barents Sea. The species differs from all other Arctic and North Atlantic Anatoma in having a flat spire. We consider Anatoma schioettei Høisæter et Geiger, 2011, syn. nov., a junior synonym of A. crispata (Fleming, 1828). Anatoma schanderi Høisæter et Geiger, 2011 is recorded for the first time from the Siberian seas.

Description Shell up to 3.3 mm high and 4.1 mm maximum diameter, with low conical spire, angulate periphery, moderately inflated base and a small umbilicus. Protoconch of ¾ whorl, about 240 µm in maximum diameter, terminated by a slightly flaring edge; protoconch sculpture of irregular granules which tend to form spiral lines towards the periphery. Teleoconch I (until the beginning of the selenizone) about 1.1 whorl, with about 45‒50 faint axial riblets, more indistinct in their adapical part, and with a distinct spiral thread abutting on the beginning of the selenizone. Teleoconch II with 2 to 2.5 whorls, separated by a deep suture, and the space between suture and selenizone (the “sutsel” according to Geiger 2012) somewhat wider than the latter. Marked peripheral keel, accentuated by the abapical edge of selenizone, which is more prominent than the adapical edge. Selenizone delimited by two narrow lamellae, inside with weakly marked growth stages. Adapical surface of whorls with axial riblets and very thin spiral threads; the riblets arched, much narrower than the interspaces, uneven and very irregularly spaced, attenuated upon reaching the selenizone, about 70 on the first whorl of teleoconch II, about 110‒120 on the last whorl; spiral threads, about 20 in the last half-whorl, attenuated in the part that borders the selenizone. Base regularly convex, with sculpture of axial riblets and spiral threads similar in density and appearance to those of the adapical part; the ribs are somewhat flexuous and prolonged inside the umbilicus; the spiral cords, about 35‒40, are somewhat weaker towards the periphery. Umbilicus small, without apparent funiculus. Aperture rounded, interrupted by an incision which extends on about ¼ of the last whorl and narrows at the edge. Colour white. Distribution So far only known from deep-water off the GB. Remarks Anatoma corralae sp. nov. is most similar to A. schiottei Høisaeter & Geiger, 2011, described from the Norwegian Sea, and was mistaken for it in the preliminary report of INDEMARES BANGAL (Gofas et al. 2014b). It differs in being larger (4 mm, compared to 2.25 mm in A. schiottei), having a longer teleoconch I (more than one whorl vs 0.75 whorl) with much more numerous axial riblets (50 vs 15), and in lacking a funiculus in the umbilicus (conspicuous in A. schiottei, see Høisaeter & Geiger 2011: fig. 48). Nevertheless, both species share the same angular outline, the microsculpture of the protoconch with granules tending to be aligned along spiral lines, and the shape of the edge of the protoconch, which is only slightly flaring and has no secondary thickening. The protoconch microsculpture, unusual in the genus, suggests that they may be related. Among the species locally present, Anatoma umbilicata, which is found together in the same hauls, differs clearly by its broad umbilicus and in being practically smooth. Anatoma tenuisculpta is quite similar to Anatoma corralae sp. nov. in size and outline, but differs in having a much coarser axial sculpture forming a regular lattice with small nodules at the intersections of riblets and spiral threads; it also has a much shorter teleoconch I, hardly over half a whorl. Anatoma richardi, which is found on GB but not in the same depth interval, also has such coarser sculpture, and its last whorl is more ample and its suture is not so far below the selenizone. “Skeneimorph” species This informal group includes the members of the family Skeneidae W. Clark, 1851 but also members of other Vetigastropod families including several genera of uncertain phylogenetic affinity (Hoffman et al. 2020c) which have been shown by Kano et al. (2009) to be related to the superfamily Seguenzioidea or to other non-vetigastropod clades, like neomphalids or heterobranchs (Haszprunar et al. 2011, 2016). Remarks Ortega & Gofas (2019) used this name for the Anatoma species which is common at depths less than 1000 meters in the Canary Islands, and concluded that the synonymy with Scissurella tenuis Jeffreys, 1877 proposed by Geiger (2012) was not warranted. The latter, with an abyssal type locality in the northwest Atlantic, differs by the configuration of the early whorls and the habitat. Anatoma richardi, originally described from off the Azores Islands in 1360 m, is also found on GB. In A. richardi, the suture of the body whorl may be more or less detached from the selenizone of the previous whorl (the ���sutsel��� in Geiger 2012), whereas in A. tenuis the suture is reported as always adjusted to it. Anatoma tenuisculpta (Seguenza, 1880), described from the Pleistocene of southern Italy and recorded as living in the Alboran Sea and Ibero-Moroccan Gulf and in several localities off NW Europe (H��isaeter & Geiger 2011; Geiger 2012), also belongs to this species group but is distinguished by having a higher profile with the last whorl even more clearly separated from the selenizone. We have never seen any locality with A. richardi and A. tenuisculpta sympatric and separable, and the possibility that they represent morphological variation in a single species should be investigated. The microscopic slit bearing gastropods of the northeastern Pacific are reviewed. Since the global monograph of Geiger (2012), one additional species has been described (Anatoma georgii Geiger, 2017). No significant material of other species has changed distributional records or range limits of the known taxa.

Anatoma richardi (Dautzenberg & H. Fischer, 1896) (Fig. 3 A-D) MATERIAL EXAMINED. ��� 115 sh., DW130. REMARKS Geiger (2012: 1108 and distribution map) reported Anatoma tenuis (Jeffreys, 1877) from three localities in the Canaries, ranging from 450 to 900 m, without illustrating these lots. We found in our material three species of Anatoma, viz. Anatoma aspera, A. eximia and the species resembling A. tenuis here illustrated (Fig. 3 A-D). Whereas for the first two we agree with Geiger���s (2012) identifications, there are issues regarding the last one. Our specimens have the suture of the last whorl either attached to the abapical keel of the selenizone, or dropping at some distance below this keel (leaving exposed a part of the previous whorl below the keel of the selenizone called ���sutsel��� by Geiger), with all transitional constructions. This questions the taxonomic value of this character, given by Geiger as a diagnostic of A. tenuis vs A. tenuisculpta (Seguenza, 1880). The latter species, originally described as a fossil from the Pliocene of southern Italy, is briefly compared to A. tenuis by Geiger (2012: 1106, 1116), and stated to differ, in addition to the sutsel in having a ���longer teleoconch I (0.75 vs 0.5 whorl)��� and ���a wider umbilicus���. Nonetheless in the description provided for A. tenuisculpta, teleoconch I is reported to be 0.5-0.85 whorl so that this difference from A. tenuis is not diagnostic. Our own Canarian specimens have about���.75 whorl of teleoconch I (Fig. 3 E). A further feature of the early teleoconch of both A. tenuisculpta as understood by Geiger (2012) and our specimens, is the presence of a single spiral cord on the outer third of teleoconch I, abutting on the beginning of the selenizone (Fig. 3 D). This feature is found also on other species (e.g. A. aspera) and is stable on all the specimens we examined, but the lectotype of Scissurella tenuis shows only strong, arched axial ribs fading before reaching the suture, no spiral cord (Fig. 3 E) and the teleoconch 1 extends hardly more than 0.5 whorl. Our specimens are most likely conspecific with those reported by Geiger around the Canaries, Azores and Cape Verde Islands in the upper bathyal (310-1340 m), and the same species is also known to us from Galicia Bank off the NW Iberian Peninsula, but these may not be correctly identified as Anatoma tenuis, which has an abyssal type locality south of Greenland and has a discrepant morphology of the early teleoconch. The fossil neotype of A. tenuisculpta has the last whorl considerably narrower and dropping more distinctly down from the suture, than in any of the Recent specimens here discussed. The specimens from Norway illustrated by Geiger as A. tenuisculpta have a much flatter spire and do not show essential difference with the Canarian specimens, apart from size and a somewhat less expanded last whorl. Conversely, Scissurella richardi Dautzenberg & H. Fischer, 1896, described from 1300-1396 m off the Azores is certainly the same. A taxonomic revision of the family Anatomidae from Brazil led to the discovery of nine species, four of which are new. This contrasts with only two species previously recorded: Anatoma aedonia (Watson, 1886) and Anatoma proxima (Dall, 1927). The lectotype designation for A. aedonia by Geiger (2012) has clarified the identity of this taxon, which is now considered a rare species, mainly from deep waters. The holotype of A. proxima is lost (Geiger, 2012), and some very similar taxa occur sympatrically in the western Atlantic; accordingly, we designate here a neotype for Scissurella proxima and redescribe it, re-evaluating its shell variability and radula morphology. The review of a large amount of shells in malacological collections in Brazil, including material from recent dredging along the southeastern coast, revealed the occurrence of seven additional species: Anatoma americana Bandel, 1998, synonymized under A. proxima by Geiger (2012), is herein considered a valid species; Anatoma atlantica (...

Thin turbiniform shell; relatively low spire; rounded aperture with reflexed inner lip; moderately wide and deep umbilicus; numerous fine and sinuous collabral threads crossed by weaker spiral ones; two peripheral lamellar keels bordering the anal slit. Protoconch: planispiral; 1.25 whorls; diameter about 150 ��m; flocculent sculpture (granules aggregated in an irregular polygonal pattern); transition to the teleoconch preceded by a cord-like varix not extended to the whole peristome. Remarks. The superficially similar Anatoma tenuisculpta (Seguenza, 1880) is proportionally wider and more discoidal in shape. Anatoma aspera has been often misidentified with A. crispata (Fleming, 1828) that is probably absent in the Mediterranean, except for the Alboran basin (Pe��as et al. 2006; Micali & Geiger 2015). The identity of Santa Maria di Leuca specimens was confirmed by Dr. D.L. Geiger, Santa Barbara Museum of Natural History (2016, personal communication). Four new species of Anatomidae are described: Anatoma herberti n. sp. with strong axial sculpture on the shoulder and base; A. austrolissa n. sp. with almost smooth sculpture except for axial cords in the adumbilical half of the base; A. boucheti n. sp. with sunken protoconch and selenizone that starts after more than one teleoconch I whorl; and A. fl exidentata n. sp. with a highly modifi ed radula, shared only with A. austrolissa, among known anatomid species. Three of the species are only known from the Indian Ocean, while the more deep-water A. austrolissa is known from Reunion Island and New South Wales, Australia. The radula of A. flexidentata and A. austrolissa is strikingly different from that of other Anatomidae and Vetigastropoda in that it has flexible equally-shaped teeth in the central field and filamentous teeth in the marginal fi eld. Similar radular morphologies are known from Calliostomatidae.

A systematic revision on the shallow and abyssal species of Scissurellidae and Anatomidae occurring in Sub-Antarctic and Antarctic waters was carried out. This study is based on material from several field trips and museum collections. The shell morphologies of all the species are redescribed and illustrated with scanning electron micrographs. Additional information on the gross anatomy and the radula for seven species is given. A total of six anatomid and seven scissurellid species are recognized as valid in Sub-Antarctic and Antarctic waters, including three new species herein described. Anatomids are represented by the genera Anatoma and Thieleella; the species recognized for the area are: Anatoma conica (d'Orbigny, 1841), characterized by having a globular shell, sculptured with strong axial ribs; Anatoma euglypta (Pelseneer, 1903), has a biconical, delicately cancellate shell; Anatoma shiraseae Numanami & Okutani, 1990, a gradated shell with a distinct spiral ridge on the shoulder and cancellate orna...

Shell large, biconical; H 3.95 mm, W 3.97 mm; P eroded, DN 0.13���0.16 mm; shoulder with curved axial cords and 1���3 fine spiral lines; base with spiral and axial cords forming reticulate sculpture; sculpture weakens on lower third of base; aperture rounded; umbilicus closed. Distribution. Possibly tropical Indian Ocean; southern Japan, Indo-Malayan Archipelago to the Western Pacific, 49���2570 m (Geiger 2012). Remarks. The studied material mostly conforms to the description by Geiger (2012), although some specimens are larger than 3.2 mm (largest is 3.95 mm). The shoulder occasionally has three fine spiral lines instead of one to two. The density of axial cords on shoulder and base strongly increases on the last whorl of large specimens. P and T 1 are eroded in the studied material, yet T 1 appears to have only about 11 axial ribs instead of 17���20. The current study aimed to provide the topography and renal biopsy of the standing mare kidneys by laparoscopy w ithout CO2 insufflation and to compare between the use of biopsy needle and forceps. Five clinically healthy adult nonpregnant mares weighing 250300 Kg and aging 79 years were used in the current work. The gasless laparoscopic renal biopsy appeared simple, safe, reliable, minimal invasive, timesaving and economical technique. The parallel biopsy portals provided easy and accessible biopsy procedure than dorsal or ventral portals. The biopsies taken from the lateral surface were less hemorrhagic than those taken from the caudal pole. This study recommended the laparoscopic forceps because the biopsy forceps provided satisfactory and representative specimens with minimal hemorrhage than Tru-cut needle. El presente estudio tuvo como objetivo proporcionar la topografía y la biopsia renal de los riñones en la yegua de pie, por laparoscopía sin insuflación de CO2, y comparar entre el uso de la biopsia con aguja y pinzas. Fueron utilizadas en este studio cinco yeguas adultas no gestantes clínicamente sanas con un peso de 250300 Kg y edad de 79 años. La biopsia renal laparoscópica sin gas es un método seguro, confiable y mínimamente invasivo, económico y permite además ahorrar tiempo. Los portales de biopsia paralelas permiten un procedimiento de biopsia de fácil acceso. Las biopsias tomadas de la superficie lateral fueron menos hemorrágicas que aquellas obtenidas desde el polo caudal. Este estudio recomienda las pinzas laparoscópicas debido a que, a diferencia de la aguja Tru-cut, demostraron ser satisfactorias con una hemorragia mínima.

Refers to the lack of prominent features. Description. Shell medium size (to 3.4 mm: Figs 13���14) trochiform turreted. Protoconch of 0.75 whorl, flocculent sculpture, apertural varix barely connected to embryonic cap, apertural margin shallow sinusoid. Teleoconch I of 0.66 whorl, 13���19 axial cords, spiral cord in position of selenizone. Teleoconch II of 2.75 whorls, suture little impressed, sutsel less than width of selenizone on early shell showing 1 or 2 spiral threads, 2���3 �� width of selenizone at apertural margin, showing approximately 6 spiral threads. Shoulder convex, many fine axial cords extending onto keels of selenizone, interstices as wide as cords at suture, twice as wide near selenizone; first spiral thread after 0.1���0.2 teleoconch II whorl, 4���10 after first whorl, 12���15 at apertural margin, evenly distributed over width of shoulder; spiral threads running over axial cords. Base barely constricted below selenizone, continuously sloping with umbilicus, dense axial cords extending onto keels of selenizone, interstices twice as wide as cords near selenizone, less than width of cords near umbilicus; approximately 25 spirals from immediately below selenizone into umbilicus, spiral threads from selenizone to mid-base, then turning into steps, increasing in strength twofold towards umbilicus. Umbilicus of moderate width, no funiculus. Aperture rounded, adumbilical portion flared, roof overhanging. Selenizone at periphery, keels moderately elevated, moderately strong; slit open, margins converging in fully-grown specimens. Operculum (Fig. 15 D) corneous, thin, multispiral, with central nucleus. Radula (Fig. 15 A���B). Rachidian trapezoid, central cusp slightly larger, 3���4 cusps on each side, arranged as fan. Lateral teeth 1���3 similar, apical cusp largest, 3 ��� 2 cusps on outer edge, 1 minute point at inner edge. Lateral tooth 4 reduced, hook-shaped, apical cusp largest, 1 minute point on each side. Lateral tooth 5 somewhat enlarged, apical cusp largest, 4 cusps along inner edge, 1 small point on outer edge. Inner marginal teeth with triangular tip, apical cusp largest, 1���2 cusps on inner margin, 3���5 along outer margin; outer marginal teeth spoon-shaped, with many fine bristles along edge. The details of the early teleoconch permit ready identification of the species: protoconch with flocculent sculpture, teleoconch I of 0.66 whorl, with spiral in position of selenizone, and first spiral threads appearing on outer half of shoulder. Anatoma australis (Hedley, 1903) from Australia has a longer teleoconch I (0.5 vs. 0.75 whorl), on teleoconch I has multiple spiral threads, and has more widely spaced spiral threads on the base (3 vs. 7 on sutsel of 1.5 �� width of selenizone). Anatoma equatoria (Hedley, 1899) from the Indo-Malayan Archipelago has a sutsel about as wide as the selenizone at the onset of the selenizone, with axial and spiral sculpture about half as dense. Anatoma flexidentata Geiger & Sasaki, 2008, from the Indian Ocean and Western Pacific lacks the apertural varix on the protoconch, has a shorter teleoconch I (0.25 vs. 0.5 whorl), has more widely spaced axial cords particularly on the shoulder, with a sutsel that is at least 50 % narrower. Anatoma pseudoequatoria (Kay, 1979) from the Indo- Malayan Archipelago to Central Pacific has a shorter teleoconch 1 (0.25 vs. 0.5 whorl), has a sutsel that is at least 50 % narrower, and the intersection of the axials and spirals on the shoulder form distinct points. Anatoma japonica (A. Adams, 1862) from the Indian Ocean and the Indo-Malayan Archipelago has a very narrow umbilicus, has a narrower sutsel after one whorl ( 0.5 �� width of selenizone, and has axial cords that are about 50 % more widely spaced (interstices approximately as wide as or wider than cords vs. narrower than cords). Anatoma rainesi Geiger, 2003, from Indo-Central Pacific has a protoconch with distinct axial cords, has axial cords on teleoconch I that decrease in strength with growth, and the axial cords on the base are at least twice as widely spaced. Anatoma atlantica (Bandel, 1998) from the NW Atlantic has a much narrower sutsel (Anatoma proxima (Dall, 1927) from the Caribbean and the south-western Atlantic has an overall more globular shape, and has more widely spaced axial cords on the shoulder and base. Anatoma tobeyoides Geiger & Jansen, 2004, from south-eastern Australia has a protoconch with reticulate sculpture, has fine, obliquely radiating fine threads on teleoconch I, and has a narrower selenizone. Teleoconch II of 3.3 whorls, suture lightly impressed, no sutsel except for last quarter whorl with slight descent showing 1 spiral thread. Shoulder broadly convex, many barely perceptible, low axial cords becoming somewhat more noticeable with growth; first low spiral thread after 0.125���0.8 whorl, increasing in strength to become low to distinct spiral cords, approximately a dozen after first teleoconch I whorl, approximately 25 at apertural margin, forming indistinct thickenings at intersection with axials. Base without constriction below selenizone, continuously sloping with umbilicus; axial sculpture as on shoulder if usually somewhat stronger; approximately 22 spirals, distinct threads from selenizone onwards, changing at mid-base into steps. Umbilicus variable; open, bordered by carina, walls straight, smooth; additionally with distinct funiculus; closed by parietal callus [see Remarks]. Aperture oblong D-shaped. Selenizone at periphery, keels moderately strong, moderately elevated (usually low due to erosion); lunules distinct; slit open, margins converging. Radula (Fig. 20). Rachidian tooth trapezoid, apical cusp largest, 4���5 on each side in continuous arc. Lateral tooth 1 broadened, apical cusp slightly larger than 7���8 distal ones on cutting edge. Lateral teeth 3���4 similar, apical cusp largest, 3���5 along outer margin of cutting edge. Lateral tooth 4 reduced, apical cusp largest, three small ones on each side. Anatoma maxima from the Indo-Malayan Archipelago has coarser sculpture (14 vs. 25 spirals on shoulder at apertural margin; distinct vs. indistinct axials) in which axials and spirals form points at intersections, a less rapid expansion of the whorls (1.4 vs. 1.8), and a wider sutsel at the apertural margin showing 2���3 spiral threads. Anatoma rainesi from the Eastern and Western Pacific has a sutsel on the early whorls, has strong axial cords on teleoconch I, and the selenizone is closer to the periphery of the shell. Anatoma rapaensis Geiger, 2008 from French Polynesia shares the overall discoidal shape with no sutsel, but the protoconch lacks an apertural varix, the teleoconch I is shorter (0.2 vs.> 0.75 whorl, the axial sculpture is more pronounced forming sharp points at the intersection with the spirals. Anatoma regia (Mestayer, 1916) from New Zealand has a narrower but still noticeable sutsel on early whorls, has a narrower selenizone, and its axial sculpture is stronger than the spiral sculpture. Anatoma disciformis (Golikov & Sirenko, 1980) from the boreal north Pacific has an overall taller shell, a protoconch with strong flocculent sculpture, and much stronger axial cords. Anatoma tenuis (Jeffreys, 1877) from the temperate north Atlantic has a shorter teleoconch I (0.4 vs. 0.75 whorl), and has stronger axial than spiral sculpture. The number of axials on teleoconch I is difficult to count due to erosion of the early parts of the whorl. The condition of the umbilicus is quite variable in the limited number of specimens available. The more open condition is found in smaller specimens, while the callus closing the umbilicus is encountered in the largest specimens, which suggest an ontogenetic change. Other conchological characters all suggest that the specimens belong to a single species. The radula of A. megascutula shows an unusual arrangement in the central field. Thirteen new species of Scissurellidae (Scissurella regalis n. sp., Sinezona mechanica n. sp., Sinezona platyspira n. sp., Sinezona enigmatica n. sp., Sinezona wanganellica n. sp., Satondella azonata n. sp., Satondella bicristata n. sp.),Anatomidae (Anatoma amydra n. sp., Anatoma kopua n. sp., Anatoma megascutula n. sp., Anatoma tangaroa n. sp.), andLarocheidae (Larochea spirata n. sp., Larocheopsis macrostoma n. sp.) are described, all of which occur in New Zealandwaters. The greatest geographic source of new taxa is the islands and underwater features off northern New Zealand. The new shell-morphological term “sutsel” is introduced for the area between the SUTure and the SELenizone.

Anatomidae McLean, 1989, is a family of small (1–11 mm), slit-bearing Vetigastropoda (see Geiger et al. 2008) occurring from the shallow subtidal to the abyss in all the world’s oceans. They are distinguished from Scissurellidae by the peripheral location of the slit. Three genera have been described: Anatoma Woodward, 1859, Thieleella Bandel, 1998, and Sasakiconcha Geiger, 2006c. The former two have an open slit and are recognized based on protoconch sculpture (Anatoma: flocculent or smooth; Thieleella: reticulate). The monotypic Sasakiconcha has a closed slit forming a foramen.

Alternati-, Latin for differing on two sides, -sculpta, Latin for sculpture, referring to the predominant axial sculpture on shoulder, while the base has predominantly spiral sculpture. Adjective. Description. Shell medium size (to 2.09 �� 2.15 mm W �� H), trochiform globular. Protoconch of 0.875 whorls, 175 ��m long in holotype, embryonic cap with some flocculent sculpture, remainder smooth, weak apertural varix not connected to embryonic cap, apertural margin slightly sinusoid. Teleoconch I of 0.66���0.75 whorls, 14���19 axial cords, some with a spiral cord in position of selenizone. Teleoconch II of 2.66 whorls, suture moderately impressed. Shoulder strongly convex, approximately 34 distinct equally spaced axial cords; first spiral line shortly after onset of selenizone, 3���4 thick spiral lines at apertural margin concentrated in middle of shoulder, running over axial cords forming minute thickenings. Base with weak constriction below selenizone, evenly curving into umbilicus, approximately 20 axial cords of decreasing strength from selenizone towards mid-base, then increasing in strength towards umbilicus; about twice as many thick spiral threads as on shoulder, weak below selenizone, increasing in strength to cords towards umbilicus. Umbilicus open, moderately wide. Selenizone at periphery, keels moderately strong, strongly elevated, lunules distinct; slit open, with parallel margins. Aperture round, flared, roof overhanging. Animal unknown. Differential diagnosis. Anatoma proxima from the SE United States to Brazil has similar sculpture on shoulder and base, a less convex shoulder, and a protoconch with flocculent sculpture. Anatoma atlantica (Bandel, 1998) from the eastern US is proportionally wider (width to height ratio 1.219 in holotype of A. atlantica, 0.973 in holotype of A. alternatisculpta), has finer sculpture and a much larger protoconch. Anatoma plicatazona n. sp. from the Caribbean has a more turreted shell form, and the keels of the selenizone are strongly curved towards the apex. The name honors Emilio Rol��n for his contributions to the knowledge of the Caribbean malacofauna. Description. Shell medium size (holotype = 1.7 mm), trochiform biconical. Protoconch of 0.75 whorls, smooth, no apertural varix, apertural margin slightly convex. Teleoconch I of 0.6 whorls, 13 axials, initially tall cords, then low lamellae; no spirals. Teleoconch II of two whorls, suture moderately impressed, more than width of selenizone from selenizone of previous whorl. Shoulder with many fine axial lamellae, on first half whorl upright, then with strong forward inclination, as if pressed down; spiral sculpture very diffuse; first signs due to slight thickenings on lamellae after one whorl; approximately 12 teeth in serrated profile of lamellae, no serration close to suture. Base without constriction below selenizone, sculpture as on shoulder with approximately 12 teeth in serrated profile of lamellae. Umbilicus very narrow, continuously sloping with base, no funiculus. Aperture rounded, roof overhanging. Selenizone at periphery; keels moderately strong, quite elevated; lunules distinct, dense; slit open, margins converging. Animal unknown. Distribution. Only known from type material: Cuba and Yucatan Peninsula, Mexico. Remarks. Anatoma atlantica (Bandel, 1998) has distinct spiral lines on shoulder and base, and the in specimens with two teleoconch II whorls, the suture is closer than the width of the selenizone from the selenizone of the previous whorl. Anatoma proxima (Dall, 1927) (= A. americana Bandel, 1998) from the Caribbean has upright lamellae on shoulder and base, and more distinct spirals, and the protoconch has flocculent sculpture as well as a apertural varix. Anatoma alternatisculpta Geiger & McLean, 2010, from the Caribbean has less than half the number of axial and fewer, but spiral lines are more distinct, and the base shows a distinct reticulate pattern. Anatoma aedonia (Watson, 1886) from the Caribbean and the southwestern Atlantic ocean has a turreted overall profile and cancellate sculpture on shoulder and base. Anatoma alta (Watson, 1886) from the tropical and subtropical northern Atlantic ocean has an overall more globular shell shape, much wider spaced axial cords on the shoulder (space between cords approximately 4���5 times width of cords), has coarse reticulate sculpture on the base, and is anomphalous. Anatoma rolani shows a novel sculptural element, the dense appressed axial lamellae. They are unknown in any other described or undescribed species in Anatomidae or Scissurellidae (see Geiger 2008). The recently described Anatoma plicatazona Geiger & McLean, 2010, is based on two specimens from the Bahamas. The species is characterized by the keels of the selenizone being turned upwards. Additional specimens from Cuba [two specimens (coll. Fern��ndez-Garc��s), five specimens (MHNS: Fig. 1 B), both lots 40 m, Rancho Luna, Cienfuegos, Cuba, 22.017 ˚N, 80.430 ˚W] confirm the presence of this species in the Caribbean and extend its range by approximately 600 km. Both of those new Caribbean Anatoma species seem to be genuinely rare. Only five out of 108 lots of Anatoma from the Caribbean belong to those two species (see Geiger 2008 for source of data). Anatomidae are approximately as well represented as Scissurellidae (130 lots). Emilio Rol��n provided SEM images of additional specimens imaged at CACTI of Vigo University, Spain. Describing the diagnosing feature of the strongly upward folded selenizone. Description. Shell to 1.5 mm, trochiform, turreted. Protoconch 0.75 whorls, flocculent sculpture, no apertural varix, apertural margin straight. TI of 0.25–0.33 whorls, 11–12 axial cords, no spiral sculpture, interstices with irregularities. TII> 2 whorls. Shoulder convex, approximately 50 distinct axial cords on first whorl, becoming gradually less distinct to diffuse towards apertural margin; first spiral after 0.125–0.25 TII whorls, half to third strength of axials, increasing to 5–7 after 1 TII whorl, of equal strength as axials, forming raised points at intersection with axials; raised points best developed after 1.25 TII whorls; sculpture becoming less distinct with growth, forming subdued cancellate pattern. Suture little impressed, position descending with growth from 1.5 width of selenizone below selenizone, to mid base (~ 3 selenizone widths below selenizone). Base convex, evenly curving into umbilicus, barely constricted below selenizone; sculpture becoming weaker with growth and from selenizone towards base; reticulate sculpture with raised points at intersection below selenizone, subsequently approximately 13 low spiral steps. Aperture rounded, adumbilical portion of peristome flared. Selenizone slightly above periphery; keels of moderate strength, broken in early portion of whorl, appearing to have horizontal orientation, on last 0.5–0.66 whorls orientation of keels parallel to coiling axis; slit open, margins parallel. Animal unknown. Differential diagnosis. Anatoma aedonia Watson, 1886, from the Caribbean has a similar overall shape and similar protoconch. However, TI is of 1 whorl and has a distinct spiral cord in the position of the selenizone, the sculpture on TII remains the same throughout growth, with distinct axial cords, and very fine spiral lines, and the axial sculpture on the base extends to the umbilicus. Differential diagnosis based on examination of types in BMNH and NMW by SEM. Distribution. Known only from type locality.

More disk-like than other species (crispata, japonica) (OD). Description. Shell small (to 1.3 mm), translation of Golikov & Sirenko (1980: 107���108), the translation of the Russian original description was kindly provided by Vyacheslav Palchevskiy (University of Southern California, Los Angeles, California, USA): ���The shell is small, almost disk-like with thin walls and with 2.5 slightly convex whorls separated by a deeply impressed suture. The last whorl makes a small concave platform near the suture. The upper part of the whorl has a weakly convex, smooth slope towards the periphery, restricted by two raised keels, which border the slit near the outer edge of the aperture. The base of the shell under the keels is moderately convex but forms a deep depression in the region of the wide umbilicus. The diameter of the last whorl is 1.45 �� as wide as high and 1.3 �� greater than the height of the shell. The surface of the shell is milky-white though in one of the paratypes, the color of the shell is slightly yellow. The axial sculpture of the shell consists only of thin, non-contrasted growth lines. Only in the region of the umbilicus, there are slightly separated, barely visible (only under magnification) wrinkles. The spiral sculpture is absent except for separate, non-distinct, unshaped lines. The aperture is round-oval, essentially shifted in respect to the axis of the shell; its height is 3 / 4 of the shell���s height. The outer apertural lip has a slight angle in the upper part near the parietal wall of the whorl and slopes smoothly towards a deep and narrow slit; the region where the keels frame the slit is slightly raised. The inner lip near the columella is strongly curved outside making the narrow fold, and during the transition towards the base of the shell, forms a smooth, circular and dull angle.��� Redescription based on material from Alaska collected by the late Rae Baxter. Shell medium size, to 2.3 mm, trochiform biconical. Protoconch of 0.75 whorls, coarse flocculent sculpture, no apertural varix, apertural margin straight. Teleoconch I of 0.45���0.6 whorls, irregular axial thickenings sometimes as approximately 20 low, broad axial cords; no spiral sculpture. Teleoconch II up to 2.1 whorls. Suture below selenizone, deeply impressed in early whorls; descending by approximately 1.5 �� width of selenizone on base on largest known specimen, weakly impressed. Shoulder convex, early sculpture from almost smooth to low axial cords only; subsequently coarsely to finely clathrate sculpture of variable density and distinctness. Base with similar sculpture as shoulder. Umbilicus open, distinct funiculus. Selenizone slightly above periphery, keels low, often broken, moderate strength; slit open, margins slightly converging. Aperture rounded Dshaped, roof overhanging. Animal unknown. Differential diagnosis. Anatoma obtusata (Golikov & Gublin, 1978) from the boreal north Pacific is more globular in overall shell shape, has a teleoconch I of 0.875���1 whorls, and a very narrow umbilicus. Thieleella baxteri (McLean, 1984) from the Northeastern Pacific shares the discoidal shell shape in smaller specimens, but has strong and sharp axial lamellae on shoulder and base, crossed by much finer spiral lines. Thieleella kelseyi (Dall, 1905) from the northeastern Pacific has an overall more turreted shell shape, a protoconch with reticulate sculpture and fine axial cords on shoulder and base crossed by finer spiral lines. All LACM material leg. Rae Baxter. Remarks. Five specimens were collected, and reference is made to at least one paratype, but it is unclear whether only one or more paratypes were designated. The holotype was illustrated by Kantor & Syosev (2006) and is strongly decalcified. Multiple attempts at obtaining the specimen on loan failed. The specimens from Alaska are considered conspecific as they agree as well as possible with the original illustration, the subsequent photograph of the holotype as well as with the original description. The overall shape of the specimens, the strong funiculus, the very weak sculpture in some of the examples examined, and the distribution in the boreal Pacific all support the identification of the Alaskan specimens as A. disciformis. The original illustration shows a specimen with a very rounded aperture, whereas some of the specimens shown here have a rather more angular D-shaped aperture. The latter condition is encountered in specimens with a broken lower adumbilical portion of the peristome, hence, is an artifact of no taxonomic significance. As in Anatomidae, juvenile specimens are more depressed than older ones as shown by the ontogenetic series in Figure 12 [see also Zelaya & Geiger 2007, figs 18���40, for ontogenetic series of A. euglypta (Pelseneer, 1903)]. Eight new species of Scissurellidae and Anatomidae are described: Scissurella kaiserae new species from the Panamic; Scissurella lorenzi new species from the Indo-Malayan archipelago; Scissurella maraisorum new species from South Africa; Sinezona garciai new species from the Caribbean; Sinezona globosa new species from the tropical Western Pacific; Sinezona macleani new species from the Philippines; Sinezona singeri new species from the Red Sea; and Anatoma jansenae new species from southern Australia. Radulae of Scissurella kaiserae and Sinezona singeri are illustrated. Anatoma munieri (Fischer, Oct. 1862) is identified as a senior synonym of Anatoma turbinata (A. Adams, Nov. 1862), and Sukashitrochus morleti (Crosse, 1880) is shown to be a senior synonym of Sukashitrochus indonesicus Bandel, 1998, and Sukashitrochus simplex Bandel, 1998. These synonymies are based on examination of type material in the Museum Nationale dHistoire Naturelle, Paris; scanning electron microscope images of the types are provided, and lectotypes are here selected.

Named after Patty Jansen, New South Wales, Australia, who first recognized the distinctness of the species, and for her contributions to the knowledge of Australian micromolluscs. Description. Shell trochiform globular, medium size (to 2.5 mm). Protoconch of 0.75 whorls, with flocculant sculpture, apertural varix not connected to embryonic cap, apertural margin somewhat sinusoid. Teleoconch I of 0.75 whols, 17���21 distinct axials, spiral of same strength as axial in position of selenizone. Teleoconch II of up to 2.25 whorls. Shoulder somewhat convex, approximately 75 distinct axials on last whorl, 12���18 fine spirals forming at intersection with axials minute, dull points. Base with similar sculpture as shoulder, approximately 20 somewhat stronger spirals; spirals always cords, not as shingles. Umbilicus narrow, continuously sloping with base. Selenizone at periphery, keels moderately strong, moderately elevated; slit open margins converging towards apertural rim. Aperture rounded in lower portion, suborbicular under shoulder. Differential diagnosis. Anatoma australis (Hedley, 1903: Fig. 19) from the eastern Australia has coarser sculpture on the base, particularly with a decrease in density of the spirals in the third closest to the umbilicus; adumbilical margin of adumbilical spirals usually not fully differentiated from surface giving shingle��like appearance. Anatoma tobeyoides Geiger & Jansen, 2004 from southeastern Australia lacks the protoconch varix, and on teleoconch I of less than 0.5 whorls lacks a spiral cord in the position of the selenizone. Anatoma funiculata Geiger & Jansen, 2004 from Queensland is less globular and more angular in overall shape, has a teleoconch I of approximately 0.5 whorls, and a distinct shell strand (funiculus) running into the umbilicus. Seas of China, in bottom sands (OD). Etymology. Named after E. Munier Chalmas (OD). Description and differential diagnosis. The species was recently treated by Geiger & Jansen (2004 a) as A. turbinata. Remarks. Anatoma munieri and A. turbinata are clearly synonymous. Supporting characters include the overall turreted shape of the shell, the strong constriction below the selenizone with a subsequent spiral edge, a minor spiral edge on the base 0.66 towards the umbilicus, the shell ornamentation showing a regular reticulate pattern composed of spiral and axial cord, and the open umbilicus, which slopes continuously with the base. Anatoma munieri has only one month priority over A. turbinata. The date on the first page of the issue in which Sci. munieri was described, agrees with the publication dates given by Winckworth (1936). Although the latter species name is somewhat better known, the general rule of priority should be enforced in this case. It is not possible to apply the nomen oblitum/protectum rules, because munieri has been used as a valid species after 1900. Fischer��Piette (1950: 69) indicated there to be a holotype and one paratype. The holotype was not specifically designated in the original description, hence, the two specimens constitute syntypes. The subsequent holotype indication can not be viewed as a lectotype designation (ICZN Art. 74.5). The specimen shown in Figure 20 A is here designated as the lectotype with the express purpose of taxon stabilization in case other non��conspecific syntypes should be located. Bandel (1991) showed an unidentified ���scissurellid���, which is here identified as A. munieri. Bandel (1998: 42) referred in his discussion of Hainella pulchella (= A. pulchella: see Geiger, 2003 for discussion of generic taxa) to an illustration in his 1991 publication that illustrated the species with a specimen from Cebu. There was no specific reference to pagination, plate or figure number, and three Bandel (1991) references were used, but only one dealing with specimens from the Philippines: Bandel (1991) of this contribution. Type species: Scissurella euglypta Pelseneer, 1903 (OD). not Anatomus Montfort, 1810 (Annelida: Polychaeta: Serpulidae. See McLean, 1967; Herbert, 1986). Type species. Scissurella crispata Fleming, 1828 (M). Etymology. Derived from Anatomus Montfort “spelled properly” (Woodward, 1859: 204; OD). Woodward’s spelling correction related to the Adams & Adams (1853 –1858) assignment of Scissurella crispata to Montfort’s genus Anatomus. Woodward noted that Anatomus referred to a serpulid polychaete, and that Scissurella crispata should be distinguished from other members of Scissurella: “If it should still be considered desirable to have a subgeneric name for Scissurella crispata, I have no objection to the adoption of Anatoma, provided it be spelled properly, and not attributed to Montfort.” Description. Shell large (to 6 mm), trochiform. Spire prominent. Slit deep, open. Slit and selenizone at periphery or slightly above; keels usually prominent, at right angle to shell axis. Umbilicus open, often very constricted, no carina. Protoconch smooth or with flocculent sculpture, varix absent or faint, not forming bridge to nucleus of embryonic shell. Operculum multispiral with central nucleus, corneous, thin. Radula n­5­R­5­n, fifth lateral little to strongly elongated, but not broadened. Differential diagnosis. Thieleella has a protoconch with sculpture of honeycomb pattern, whereas the protoconch of Anatoma is either smooth or has flocculent ornamentation. Type locality. 21 m, SW side Euston Reef, GBR, QLD, Australia, 16.667°S, 146.217°E. Etymology. Funiculus, Latin: strand of material, referring to the thick spiral cord in the umbilicus. Description: Shell globular, small to medium size (to 1.28 mm width: holotype). Protoconch 3/4 whorl, with flocculant sculpture, one or two faint spiral streaks, no varix. Teleoconch I 1/3 whorl, 8 axials, no spirals, interaxials smooth. Teleoconch II up to two whorls (holotype), axials 75 on body whorl of holotype; shoulder with 7 spirals, base with 15 spirals, both forming points at intersection with axials. Umbilicus open, deep, sloping continuously from base; funiculus in umbilicus fusing with apertural margin. Selenizone at periphery, keels distinct. Slit parallel, open anteriorly. Aperture rounded, somewhat flared, with shelf towards umbilicus fusing with umbilical funiculus. Animal unknown. Differential diagnosis. Thieleella equatoria is similar in overall shape and sculpture, however, T. equatoria has a protoconch with reticulate sculpture, teleoconch I of more than 0.5 whorls, a wider umbilicus, and more numerous and stronger axials. Anatoma australis is more globular in overall shape, has a teleoconch I of more than 0.5 whorls and with spiral sculpture, and lacks the funicular strand in the umbilicus. Anatoma tobeyoides n. sp. is more globular in outline, has the irregular centrifugal markings on teleoconch I, less pronounced keels on the selenizone, and lacks the funicular strand in the umbilicus. Anatoma aupouria is wider in overall outline of the shell, has more numerous spirals on the shoulder, more axials on the base, the base axials showing the characteristic opisthocline loops/embayments. Anatoma turbinata is much more high­spired, has a teleoconch I of more than 0.5 whorls with spiral sculpture, and lacks the funicular strand in the umbilicus. Distribution. Only known from the type locality (GBR, QLD, Australia).
