The rapid development of the intensive care medicine with a large amount of highly specific information requires sufficiently educated nurses in the field. A nurse anesthetist is a nurse working in intensive care with a focus on anesthesiology. She provides highly specialized nursing care to patients during the course of general or local anesthesia. The work is divided into two parts, a theoretical part and a practical part. The theoretical part focuses on the development of anesthesiology and intensive care medicine. It also focuses on the education of nurses. The education of nurses is summarised from historical beginnings to the present time. This part also includes new requirements for the education of non-medical medical staff and the current supporting legislation. Higher education for intensive care is also mentioned. The next chapter of the theoretical part focuses on the competencies of nurses in anesthesiology and intensive care medicine. The practical part includes interviews with six nurses. Three interviews were conducted with nurses that witnessed the beginnings of the field of anesthesiology as we know it nowadays. The method of qualitative research, study of documents, analysis of primary archival sources of the Ministry of Health, NLK, ÚVN, legislation, periodicals, professional...

This bachelor thesis aims to map the specifics of the duties of a nurse anaesthetist. To meet the goals, 2 main research questions were set: "What activities does a nurse anaesthetist perform?", "What is the role of a nurse anaesthetist in a multidisciplinary team?". The goal is achieved through a qualitative survey, which was conducted in the form of semi-structured interviews with 6 nurse anaesthetists from hospitals in the South Bohemian region. To select and obtain informants, the "snow ball" technique was used. Data collection took place from March to June 2020. The data obtained were coded using the "pencil and paper" method and divided into categories and subcategories. The first part of the work is divided into chapters and subchapters dealing with management, anaesthesia, the profession of a nurse anaesthetist, and patient preparation before surgery. The practical part of the work processes and analyses interviews with nurse anaesthetists, where the open coding method is used to analyse the research data. From the analysis of the obtained data, we received a comprehensive view of the profession of a nurse anaesthetist. Nurse anaesthetists provide nursing care for the patient before, during, and after the operation. Among other things, they prepare the operating room and anaesthesiologic workplaces, and check and prepare the necessary aids and devices. During the provision of comprehensive patient care, the nurses mention communication and cooperation with all members of the multidisciplinary team as an indispensable part. Team members communicate with each other, work together, and help each other to ensure quality patient care. The bachelor's thesis can serve in practice as a motivation for general nurse students to further their education and to perform the profession of a nurse anaesthetist. The whole work aims to explain the scope of work of a nurse anaesthetist. The output of this work is a professional article mediating information for medical staff in a professional periodical.

The Bachelor degree thesis title is "Patient education by anesthesiologist nurse". Thesis is focused on the transfer of information between patient and anesthesiologist nurse. Furthermore it is focused on anesthesiologist nurse patient education before undergoing planned medical treatment. There were two objectives established for the research part. The first objective was to ascertain weather the anesthesiologist nurse participates in patient education anticipating the medical treatment. The second objective was to compare and determine the differences in anesthesiologist nurse patient education in two regional hospitalsRecorded interviews were analysed by coding and categorizing the data obtained. Even though the multi-professional cooperation is perfectly functional in these two hospitals, subsequent data analysis has shown that the patient education by anesthesiologist nurse is not taking place before the patient is admitted to the operating room and takes place only when the patient enters the preparation room where, consequently, the nurse becomes a guide to the patient. First the nurse introduces herself or himself and proceeds to educate the patient about the upcoming medical procedure. Above all, the anesthesiologist nurse tries to reduce patients' anxiety and through the comprehensive approach gain his or her confidence. In our opinion, nurse anaesthetists should be more involved in the patient education before the patient is admitted to the operating room.

Work in the given field is very varied. The nurse is responsible for sufficient material resources, readiness of the working area and correct function of the anesthesiological instruments. After the patient is brought to the theatre the nurse needs to ensure several tasks, assist the surgeon, check physiological functions of the patient during surgery, keep nurse documentation and after the operation she is responsible for the clean-up of the operating room and final check of the anesthesiological instruments. The responsibilities of the nurse as well as the working environment are described in detail, particularly regarding the psychological pressure the work requires. The work is further aimed at the physical load this job involves.Single aim was chosen for the research part of this work: to find what mental and physical load the nurses experience. Results for the research part of this work were obtained based on qualitative research in the form of in-depth interviews completed by two standardised questionnaires. The research was conducted for ten randomly chosen anesthesiological nurses working at operation theatres at the hospital in České Budějovice after approval from the head nurse of the hospital.Six categories emerged through the conducted analysis comprising the meaning of employment for the anaesthesiology nurses, mental load of the occupation, handling that load, relationship among the staff and working condition of the nurses.

This thesis deals with often discussed issue and that is patient´s safety. The topic of the thesis is Error prevention in an operating theater from the nurse anesthetist´s perspective. The current findings show that errors in the operating theater are a big problem in which the patient´s but also the medical staff´s health is threatened. The theoretical part is devoted to the issue of misconducts, the most common mistakes that can occur, which mostly occur by the medical staff in the operating theater. This part is also devoted to the monitoring of emergencies, whether an extraordinary event is an educational element to prevent misconducts. It also looks at the sources of errors. The practical part is processed by a qualitative research made in the ARO department. The interviews are processed by open coding technique, using pencil and paper. In the interviews, the respondents answered questions directly about their work in the operating theater. The interviews are focused on possible risks which a patient may be exposed to from the transfer to the operating theater until the end of the surgery. The respondents also mention error prevention possibilities in the operating theater. The aim of the thesis was to find out which are the most common mistakes made by nurse anesthetists; how the nurses prevent errors and how they perceive misconduct by themselves. The results should show some gaps in preventive measures in the operating theaters.

The theoretical part of the thesis is focused on nursing care of seniors during perioperative period from the point of view of an anaesthesia nurse. It is divided into a general and a special part. The general part deals with nursing care approach to a senior, with psychosocial aspects of hospitalization, his/her needs, communication barriers and educational specifics. It also covers the issues of operation in old age, psychosomatic changes and their consequences for anaesthesia care. The theory in the specialized part is divided into preoperative, intraoperative and postoperative care in relation to anaesthesia administration. The first goal of the bachelor thesis was to examine the importance of anaesthesia department from senior?s view. The second goal was to determine the importance of anaesthesia department from the view of an anaesthesia nurse and the third goal was to map nursing care of a senior at an operation theatre in relation to anaesthesia.Qualitative research form, the questioning method was applied to information collection. Non-standardized interview with general nurses and seniors was the data collection technique. The research results show that an anaesthesia department is beneficial from seniors? view.It has also been found that nurses consider the anaesthesia department useful particularly for seniors. The benefit for the nurses themselves has still certain imperfections, particularly in sharing information on nursing care with an anaesthesia nurse. The research in nursing care at the operation theatre shows that anaesthesia nurses participate in the continuity of perioperative care of a senior just partially. They are aware the specifics of care about seniors in intraoperation period and differentiate satisfaction of the needs. The thesis might serve as educational material for nurses involved in perioperative care and nurses in specialization education. Documentation was elaborated from the conclusion of the empirical part upon the found drawbacks, particular ideas of the nurses and in compliance with the procedures recommended by the informed public. A brochure Anaesthesiology Guide was elaborated to make cooperation between a nurse and a senior easier.

The theme of the Bachelor Degree Work Nursing Care and Communication with the Patient in the Operating Theatre was chosen to map out the issue of the current level of the nursing care and communication with the patient in the environment which is for most of them stressful and makes increased demands both on the nursing care and on communication too. Nowadays this theme is very topical as patients´ participation in their treatment come to the fore and their awareness of the types of treatment and carried out surgeries is generally being increased. The proper communication level undoubtedly influences the patient´s state. The theoretical part of the work deals with the environment of the operating theatre and the nursing care provided by the anaesthetic nurse. Further it deals with the kinds of communication and its significance for the patient. The practical part contains the results of the quantitative research on the anaesthetic nurses providing nursing care in the operating theatre who also communicate with the patient in the operating theatre most of all. Further there are described results of the qualitative research on patients having experience with the stay in the operating theatre. The Bachelor Degree Work contains much information about particular characteristics of the nursing care in the operating theatre. It reveals hidden reserves in communication with the patient in this environment. It refers to the most often patients´ problems in communication with the operating team. It maps out the knowledge level of the anaesthetic nurses in the sphere of the nursing care and communication. There have been set several aims, hypotheses and research questions to write this work. For aim no. 1, to find out the level of the nursing care for the patient in the operating theatre from the nurse´s point of view, there were made three hypotheses. Hypothesis no. 1 - Nurses have developed nursing care standard in the operation theatre - is confirmed. Hypothesis no. 2 - Nurses have time to provide the nursing care in the operating theatre - is confirmed. Hypothesis no. 3 - Nurses have sufficient material and technical equipment to provide the nursing care in the operating theatre - is confirmed. Aim no. 2 was to map out the communication between the nursing team and the patient in the operating theatre and there were made two hypotheses. Hypothesis no. 1 - Communication between the nursing team and the patient is influenced by the stressful environment in the operating theatre - is confirmed. . Hypothesis no. 2 - Communication between the nursing team and the patient is limited by the operation hours of the operating theatres is confirmed. For aim no. 3, to find out the level of communication in the operating theatre between the nursing team and the patient from the patient´s point of view, there were set two research questions. How does the patient perceive communication with the operating team in the environment of the operating theatre? How is communication in the environment of the operating theatre going on? The research questions have been answered. The set aims of the work have been fulfilled. The results of the research work were used for writing the nursing standard "The Nursing Care for the Patient in the Operating Theatre". This standard can serve nurses as a brief and clear aid in the nursing process and in order to provide the patient with comfort and security of the quality nursing care in the operating theatre.

Title of the thesis: Specifics of the nursing care of patients with MRSA in the operating room from an anesthesiology nurse perspective. The aim of this thesis was to identify the specifics of nursing care of a patient with the MRSA in the operating room from the perspective of nurses working in the operating room. In the theoretical part focus is given to nursing care and its specifics for a patient with MRSA. Chapters relating to the regime measures, barrier nursing procedures and the use of specific aids, instruments and tools are treated in detail. The nursing care provided by anesthesia nurses and perioperative nurses in the operating room is defined. To reach the goals the quantitative research through questionnaires was chosen. The research sample consisted of anesthesia nurses and perioperative care nurses. Two types of standardized questionnaires were used, consisted of closed questions where respondents chose an appropriate answer, and from semi-open questions where respondents could specify their answers, and in one case open questions. Both questionnaires were completed by 12 test questions, where respondents had the choice of three possible answers, where one answer was correct. The results of the investigation are summarized in two types of graphs. Bar charts were used in questions where more answers were possible to mark, and for a better clarity the results were supplemented by tables. Results to other questions, where options were limited by one answer, are shown in percentages in pie graphs. Our thesis is very narrowly focused, because we concentrated on specifics of nursing care in a patient with MRSA in the operating room. We have determined the specifics of barrier nursing, nursing problems in a patient with MRSA in the operating room. We have discovered barrier nursing procedures in a patient with MRSA in the operating room. We have also succeeded in assessing the knowledge of nurses working in the operating room. The goal was met. An interesting finding was that most of anesthetic nurses and perioperative nurses had responded that the structural and technical arrangement in the operating room was not satisfactory in terms of barrier nursing of a patient with MRSA. This problem was expected, owing to the author´s experience in operating theaters. Thus Hypothesis 1 is confirmed. In total five hypotheses were stated, four of which were confirmed and one was disproved. The aim of the thesis was to draw attention to problems in the operating room during nursing a patient with MRSA. In the course of the research work there were no problems, however, it is necessary to mention the lack of literature on MRSA with regard to nursing care in operating theaters. The theoretical section of this thesis could be recommended as a resource for the education plan created on the basis of information collected and the results of this research. The results of the research survey may serve for general public, anesthesia and perioperative nurses who could benefit from the educational plan in practice while providing nursing care for a patient with MRSA.

Patient awareness of anesthesia prior to a planned surgery through the eyes of the patients and the anesthesiology nurses Abstract This Bachelor{\crq}s thesis focuses on the research and evaluation of the level of patient awareness of the progress of anesthesia prior to a planned surgery. The awareness of anesthesia is evaluated from the point of view of the patient and the anesthesiology nurse. The scope of the thesis also includes the issue of proper communication with the patient and the importance of winning his trust to the medical personnel during the general preparation for the surgery as well as in the course of his hospitalization. It also shows the patient{\crq}s opinions on the acquisition of information on anesthesia, which would certainly alleviate his fear of the surgery. This Bachelor{\crq}s thesis is primarily based on a quantitative survey of opinions of patients and anesthesiology nurses, conducted in the form of anonymous questionnaires in which both groups expressed their views on the specific hypotheses. The key purpose of the thesis is to confirm the hypotheses, which assume that patients are not given sufficient information on their anesthesia, in spite of their interest in obtaining better knowledge of the anesthetic process. Hypothesis 2, i.e. ``Patients are interested in information from the anesthesiology nurse,{\crq}q cannot be confirmed because, based on the survey, patients prefer doctors to anesthesiology nurses as the source of information. On the basis of the survey, the thesis confirms hypothesis 1, i.e. ``Patients are not informed about the progress of anesthesia by the anesthesiology nurse.{\crq}q The low share of anesthesiology nurses in the patient{\crq}s education prior to a planned surgery is demonstrated by the opinions of the participating anesthesiology nurses, whose share is extremely low and mostly involves situations just before the planned surgery, when the patient is already lying in the surgery room. As regards hypothesis 3, i.e. ``Anesthesiology nurses are not interested in informing the patients of the progress of anesthesia prior to a planned surgery,{\crq}q it is confirmed that anesthesiology nurses are really not interested in educating the patients for many reasons, such as their large workload, lack of time, insufficient motivation and unsatisfactory financial reward. As a possible solution, we have suggested a patient education standard for anesthesiology nurses and an information leaflet for patients, which could help them understand the progress of preparation for anesthesia and the possibilities of anesthesia in general. In no case should the leaflet substitute personal education by an anesthesiology nurse; its purpose is only to serve as on instruction for the patient to prepare questions which he would like to ask before the surgery.
