Este trabalho teve por objetivo identificar os motivos que levam o trabalhador da construcao civil a deixar de utilizar os Equipamentos de Protecao Individual (EPI), estabelecidos como imprescindiveis para assegurar a saude no trabalho. Destaca-se no estudo o fato que a atividade produtiva pode deixar o trabalhador exposto a esses agentes causadores de doencas do trabalho que, sem adequado monitoramento e controle, podem causar doencas irreversiveis e ate mesmo a morte, o que impoe as organizacoes a adocao de medidas protetivas. Na oportunidade, buscou-se, ainda, descrever: o historico da seguranca no trabalho; os tipos de riscos para a saude do trabalhador; as normas de seguranca do trabalho; os EPI obrigatorios aos trabalhadores da construcao civil no Brasil, alem de verificar se os trabalhadores utilizam adequadamente os EPI, conforme propoe as regulamentacoes. O estudo foi do tipo qualitativo com delineamento descritivo, pois assumiu a funcao de apresentar caracteristicas da populacao estudada. Os dados foram do tipo primario, coletados por meio de questionario com questoes fechadas. Os resultados puderam confirmar que a utilizacao adequada dos EPIs ainda depende da atuacao socialmente responsavel da empresa, com programas de intensa fiscalizacao quanto ao cumprimento das obrigacoes normativas.

Relatório de estágio de mestrado em Economia Social, O presente trabalho apresenta uma proposta de construção de uma Comissão de Proteção ao Idoso, com o ferramenta que venha a contribuir para uma diminuição dos problemas associados à velhice, como por exemplo: a solidão, o isolamento social e até os maus-tratos. Segundo o que conseguimos apurar, a necessidade de uma intervenção precoce e acentuada é bastante grande, visto que o índice de envelhecimento tende a crescer cada vez mais com o passar dos anos, havendo mesmo estatisticas da Eurostat que referem Portugal será o país mais envelhecido da União Europeia em 2050. Esta Comissão irá ao encontro daquilo a que hoje chamamos Economia Social, pois será construída através de uma flexível manifestação de solidariedade social, ligada aos mecanismos de proteção social, neste caso específico de um grupo social particularmente vulnerável e praticamente sem voz os idosos. Toda esta proposta foi idealizada e realizada durante o nosso estágio, que decorreu na Câmara Municipal de Paredes, com a durabilidade de 7 meses, onde para além desta proposta pudemos, todavia, explorar as diversas valências sociais pelo município., This paper presents a proposal for the construction of a Elderly Protection Commission, as tool that will help to reduce the problems associated with old age, such as loneliness, social isolation and even abuse. From what we can ascertain, the need for early and sharp intervention is quite high, as the aging rate tends to grow more and more over the years, and even Eurostat statistics refer to Portugal as the oldest country in the European Union in 2050. This Commission will respond to what we now call Social Economy, because it will be built through a flexible manifestation of social solidarity, linked to mechanisms of social protection, in this particular case of a particularly vulnerable social group and virtually voiceless: the elderly. This entire proposal was conceived and carried out during our internship, which took place in the Municipality of Paredes, with the durability of seven months, where in addition to this proposal; we were nevertheless able to explore the various social valences of the municipality.

In this study, we aim to understand capacities and barriers to access for key populations in the Dominican Republic, and to identify opportunities to improve services.Background Sexually transmitted infections (STIs) are an important health issue in developing countries. Key populations, including people living with HIV, men who have sex with men, trans women, transactional sex workers, pregnant adolescents, and migrants, are at high risk of STIs and have barriers to sexual health services. In this study, we aim to understand capacities and barriers to access for key populations in the Dominican Republic, and to identify opportunities to improve services. Methods We used purposive sampling to solicit views from stakeholders in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, including health-care agencies, community-based organisations, and government entities that guide STI screening policy. We conducted 19 semi-structured interviews between February, 2015, and May, 2015, with: nine health providers, seven community leaders, and three government authorities, asking questions about STI services for key populations, gaps in services, and barriers to access. Comprehensive notes and audio recordings were iteratively reviewed by two investigators to defi ne barriers and opportunities for STI screening. Findings Respondents identifi ed barriers to access at individual, community, organisational, and policy levels. Individual barriers include poor risk perception and health knowledge, drug use in transactional sex workers and trans women, inability to negotiate condom use in sex worker and adolescent groups, and poverty. Community barriers include: discrimination against sex workers, trans women, people living with HIV, men who have sex with men, and migrants; and a culture of self-medicating in all populations. Organisational barriers include a lack of centres off ering STI testing, unavailability of medications in centres accessed by key population, and poor knowledge of available resources in the community. Policy barriers include poor access to insurance in populations; low resource allocation to STIs, other than HIV; and inconsistent supply of materials and funds. Despite these barriers, local organisations that work with key populations expressed interest in increasing capacity to screen and treat STIs. Interpretation There are many barriers to STI services for key populations in the Dominican Republic. Communitybased organisations working with such populations could leverage their expertise to increase STI awareness, screening, and treatment. Background Cardiovascular disease (CVD) is a leading health threat for HIV+ patients on antiretroviral therapy (ART); cardiometabolic comorbidities are key predictors of risk. Data are limited on incidence of metabolic comorbidities in HIV+ individuals initiating ART in low and middle income countries (LMICs), particularly for Hispanics.
