A novel molecularly imprinted polymer monolith was prepared by the room temperature ionic liquid-mediated in situ molecular imprinting technique, using norfloxacin (NOR) as the template, methacrylic acid as the functional monomer, ethylene glycol dimethacrylate as the cross-linker. The optimal synthesis conditions and recognition properties of NOR-imprinted monolithic column were investigated. The results indicated that the imprinted monoliths exhibited good ability of selective recognition against the template and its structural analog. Using the fabricated material as solid-phase extraction sorbent, a sample pre-treatment procedure of molecularly imprinted solid-phase extraction coupling with HPLC was developed for determination of trace quinolone residues in animal tissues samples. The recoveries ranging from 78.16 to 93.50% for eight quinolones antibiotics such as marbofloxacin, NOR, ciprofloxacin, danofloxacin, difloxacin, oxolinic acid, flumequine and enrofloxacin were obtained.

A method involving the simultaneous extraction and clean-up of nine organochlorine pesticides (OCPs) from the actual ginseng was developed using supercritical fluid extraction (SFE) and off-line solid-phase extraction (SPE) cartridge. The pesticides in the study consisted of -, -, - and-benzene hexachloride (BHC), pentchloronitrobenzene and DDT and its metabolites. The target analytes extracted were collected with an off-line commercial solid-phase extraction cartridge, recovered with eluting solvent and quantified by gas chromatography-electron-capture detection together with mass spectrometric confirmation. The optimal extraction conditions was obtained from a series of experiments in which samples preloaded by 10 wt.% ethanol–H2O solutions, 300 bar extraction pressure, 60 ◦ C extraction temperature, with C18 as trap adsorbent and n-hexane as eluting solvent. Additionally, Soxhlet extraction of organochlorine pesticides in actual ginseng was also carried out. Organochlorine pesticides are known to enter plant products from contamination via spillage and volatilization of the residues from pesticide-treated soils or storage. A method involving four-factor-three-level orthogonal array design including extracting solvent component, particle size, solvent overflow recycle and time needed for the optimization of extracting nine organochlorine pesticides from ginseng root was developed using Soxhlet extraction followed by capillary gas chromatography–electron capture detection and mass spectrometric confirmation. The extraction conditions were optimized from the experimental data. Relationship between the bioaccumulation of benzenehexachloride isomers and their polarity is discussed based on experimental results.

A novel method of preconcentration of trace arsenite and arsenate by using titanium dioxide nanoparticles as adsorbent was described. The concentrations of preconcentrated arsenite and arsenate were determined by a silver diethyldithiocarbamate spectrophotometric method without desorption. Batch adsorption experiments were carried out as a function of the pH, contact time, amount of titanium dioxide nanoparticles, and solution volume. In the pH range 5 to 6, adsorption rates of arsenite and arsenate were higher than 98%. The calibration coefficient was 0.9991, and the linear range was 0 to 100 microg/L.
