The aim of the current study is to apply multivariate singular spectrum analysis (M-SSA) techniques and investigate both shallow and intermediate-depth earthquake characteristics in eastern Nepal and the southern Tibetan Himalaya. Space–time-depth-magnitude (STDM) domain time-series were computed for a time window of 776 events, using a complete catalog (2005–2020) provided by the European-Mediterranean Seismological Center. Several criteria and tests, such as the quantile–quantile plot, Hankel matrix, and principal and reconstruction components analysis of STDM time-series were introduced to characterize the causality and predictability of seismic changes. It was evident from the quantile–quantile plot those events (Mw) do not approximate a linear trend but present a nonlinear trend, which is possibly due to the unusual seismically generated strain that cannot be accurately unstable compared to large earthquakes. Principal component analysis of the Hankel matrix strongly influences the ability of M-SSA to extract the measured and noise errors of an STDM time-series. Based on a reconstruction component analysis, the separability of the varying correlation coefficient between measured and predicted STDM time-series was evaluated and reconstructed in three groups: trend, oscillating, and noise group components. In conclusion, supporting the current research, it can be claimed that the results serve as a baseline study of seismicity using the M-SSA approach; by taking the example of eastern Nepal and the southern Tibetan Himalaya, users will be able to utilize M-SSA at the global level.

Portland cement (PC) is considered the most energy-intensive building material and contributes to around 10% of global warming. It exacerbates global warming and climate change, which have a harmful environmental impact. Efforts are being made to produce sustainable and green concrete as an alternative to PC concrete. As a result, developing a more sustainable strategy and eco-friendly materials to replace ordinary concrete has become critical. Many studies on geopolymer concrete, which has equal or even superior durability and strength compared to traditional concrete, have been conducted for this purpose by many researchers. Geopolymer concrete (GPC) has been developed as a possible new construction material for replacing conventional concrete, offering a clean technological choice for long-term growth. Over the last few decades, geopolymer concrete has been investigated as a feasible green construction material that can reduce CO2 emissions because it uses industrial wastes as raw materials. GPC has proven effective for structural applications due to its workability and analogical strength compared to standard cement concrete. This review article discusses the engineering properties and microstructure of GPC and shows its merits in construction applications with some guidelines and suggestions recommended for both the academic community and the industrial sector. This literature review also demonstrates that the mechanical properties of GPC are comparable and even sometimes better than those of PC concrete. Moreover, the microstructure of GPC is significantly different from that of PC concrete microstructure and can be affected by many factors.

Background: Acute severe childhood asthma is an infrequent, but potentially life-threatening emergency condition. There is a wide range of different approaches to this condition, with very little supporting evidence, leading to significant variation in practice. To improve knowledge in this area, there must first be consensus on how to conduct clinical trials, so that valid comparisons can be made between future studies. We have formed an international working group comprising paediatricians and emergency physicians from North America, Europe, Asia, the Middle East, Africa, South America, Central America, Australasia and the United Kingdom. Methods/design: A 5-stage approach will be used: (1) a comprehensive list of outcomes relevant to stakeholders will be compiled through systematic reviews and qualitative interviews with patients, families, and clinicians; (2) Delphi methodology will be applied to reduce the comprehensive list to a core outcome set; (3) we will review current clinical practice guidelines, existing clinical trials, and literature on bedside assessment of asthma severity. We will then identify practice differences in tne clinical assessment of asthma severity, and determine whether further prospective work is needed to achieve agreement on inclusion criteria for clinical trials in acute paediatric asthma in the emergency department (ED) setting; (4) a retrospective chart review in Australia and New Zealand will identify the incidence of serious clinical complications such as intubation, ICU admission, and death in children hospitalized with acute severe asthma. Understanding the incidence of such outcomes will allow us to understand how common (and therefore how feasible) particular outcomes are in asthma in the ED setting; and finally (5) a meeting of the Pediatric Emergency Research Networks (PERN) asthma working group will be held, with invitation of other clinicians interested in acute asthma research, and patients/families.
