(3) Results: After performing physical exercises on land and in water, the systolic blood pressure improved by 11.46% in the G1 group compared to 1.14% in the G2 group, the diastolic blood pressure recorded a reduction of 14.78% in the G1 group and by 0.7% in the G2 group, and heart rate improved by 15.15% in the G1 group compared to 11.84% in the G2 group. (4) Conclusions: Anthropometric and hemodynamic parameters can be improved by regular physical exercises, on land and in water, performed by premenopausal and postmenopausal women. The improvement of blood pressure and heart rate values ​​is due to regular physical exercises, individualized and adapted to the age group and pathology.

Introduction. The performance areas of post-stroke mention negatively correlated determinants in doing daily activities. The intrinsic motor recovery depends on the primary motor deficit. The functional recovery of patients with post-stroke sequelae is not only based on the remission of the functional deficit, but it also depends on the ability to develop adapted motor strategies.The objective of the study was to point out, for the patients with post-stroke sequelae, the sensitive, motor and cognitive changes in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic. Material and method. The study included a number of 18 patients diagnosed with post-stroke sequelae and was conducted for a period of 5 months in an outpatient department. The recovery treatment included sessions of kinetotherapy and occupational therapy. The evaluation of the patients was made in the beginning of the treatment, at its end and at the control after 6 weeks. Scales were used to assess pain, the static and dynamic balance, the gait and the cognitive function. Results. The obtained results were statistically significant for the patients in the group. The values that were obtained by applying the tests and evaluation scales are consistent with the clinical evolution of the patients in the study group. Conclusions. Given the pandemic period we are going through, it is still necessary to carefully evaluate not only the sensory-motor functions of patients with post-stroke sequelae, but also the cognitive functions that are known to influence in some situations the recovery of these patients.

Introduction. Osteoarthritis is considered to be the most common form of arthritis and a leading disability cause worldwide, especially due to the painful symptom. The latter is a clinical marker in evaluating the limits of joint mobility and therefore, the pain reduction is a goal of the recovery treatment for patients with knee osteoarthritis. The purpose of this study was to show whether the pain phenomenon characteristic of knee osteoarthritis can be reduced by electrotherapy, even in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic. Background: Low back pain is considered a public health problem internationally. Low back pain is a cause of disability that occurs in adolescents and causes negative effects in adults as well. The work environment and physical and psychosocial factors can influence the occurrence and evolution of low back pain. Methods: The purpose of this paper is to highlight the physiological and functional changes in young adults with painful conditions of the lumbar spine, after using exercise therapy. The study was of the longitudinal type and was carried out over a period 6 months in an outpatient setting. The rehabilitation treatment included electrotherapeutic modalities and kinesitherapy. Results: The results obtained when evaluating each parameter, for all moments, show statistically significant values in both groups. The results obtained regarding the relationship between the therapeutic modalities specific to rehabilitation medicine and low back pain are consistent with those reported in studies. Conclusions: Depending on the clinical-functional status of each patient, kinesitherapy can accelerate the heart rate and increase the blood pressure and oxygen saturation of the arterial blood, values that can later return to their initial levels, especially through training. Introduction.According to the criteria of WHO, stroke is a health condition that causes focal or global brain disorders (1), but without an apparent nonvascular cause. Stroke is considered the third leading cause of death in industrialized countries and accounts for 9% of all deaths, being considered one of the largest cases of disability in the world. Due to the medical, social and economic consequences that it causes, stroke is considered a public health issue. Purpose of research. The study starts from the idea that in the recovery of stroke patients it is important to have an individualized physiotherapy program adapted to the functional parts of each patient, having the role of improving the static and dynamic balance, of achieving postural control and finally functional independence. Material and method. The study included a number of 22 patients with sequelae stroke. They made physiotherapy, occupational therapy and occupational therapy sessions in the ambulatory, with the length of 1 hour, 3 times a week, in total 15 sessions. The evaluation of the patient was performed in the beginning of the treatment and at the end of it. Scales were used to assess mobility, static and dynamic balance, gait and functional independence. Results. The application of individualized treatment adapted to the functional body of each patient allowed a rapid recovery for the vast majority of the studied patients. The values obtained in the tests and evaluation scales are in accordance with the clinical evolution of the patients. Conclusions.The application of the treatment by kinetic therapy, work therapy and occupational therapy to the 22 patients, for a period of 3 weeks pointed out the reduction of pain, the improvement of movements, the recovery of transfers and gait, the postural improvement.

Introduction. Osteoarthritis is considered a complex biopsychosocial condition, with consequences for the patient, the family, society and public health. Age is considered the main risk factor in the occurrence of osteoarthritis. Studies show that 2 out of 3 obese individuals associate knee osteoarthritis whereas the incidence of the latter increases at the same time with increasing body mass index. Obesity contributes to the initiation of the process of osteoarthritis by the mechanical overload of the joint, causing cartilage damage with increasing horizontal cracks and the increased incidence of the osteophites in the knee. Purpose. We conducted a study in patients with knee osteoarthritis and body mass index with normal and high values, evaluating pain, functional capacity and maximum travel distance by applying electrotherapy and kinesiotherapy. Material and method. We studied a number of 68 patients diagnosed with knee osteoarthritis, who received as therapy electrotherapy and physiotherapy. The VAS scale, the WOMAC scale, the joint balance and the Lequesne scale were used to evaluate patients.The objectives of the study were: pain reduction, improved postural control and coordination, control of the gravity center, correction of alignment at the lower limbs, re-education of gait, obtaining a body mass index as close to normal. Introduction. Osteoarthritis is a chronic joint disease, a progressive non-inflammatory arthropathy-type. Globally, around 1.7 billion people are affected by musculoskeletal and rheumatic diseases, which indicates an increase in the last 20 years of around 45%. Material and method. The objectives of the treatment of patients diagnosed with osteoarthritis were: decreasing the pain, increasing joint mobility, muscle strength, trophic and muscle tone, increasing the quality of life and reintegration into the social and family environment. Demographic data and the functional status were assessed using the VAS scale, the WOMAC scale, the QOL scale. Results and discussions. The pain, the most important symptom in osteoarthritis, was diminished in the patients from the group, the evaluation on the VAS scale, but also on the WOMAC scale has showed the value reduction and the statistical significance of this decrease. The quality of life in the group patients after the application of the complex recovery treatment, especially of the kinetotherapy program. Conclusions. The application of the individualized recovery treatment and adapted to the age group has allowed the improvement of the values of the parameters of pain, rigidity, functional capacity. The recovery of patients aged 55-65 is important to ensure the percentage of professionally active persons, to reduce medical costs, as well as those generated by absenteeism, and the socio-professional reintegration of these patients.

Psychosomatic disorders confront a myriad of challenges, including insufficient mental health community services, on the one hand, and physician rejection and stigmatization of psychiatric symptoms on the other. Unhealthy lifestyle choices interact in a negative way with the Romanian people's health; these choices account for around half of the country's total mortality rate. So, the rate of heavy binge drinking is greater than the same rate in the European Union. Daily smokers rate in Romania is 1:5; overweight or obese represent approximately, half of the country's adult population; ischemic heart disease stroke being the second-largest death cause. Romania ranks first at the treatable mortality rate in Europe. We sought to establish the necessary grounds for including psychosomatic day-care clinics in the Romanian healthcare system. Degenerative diseases rank third in the world after cardiovascular and oncologic diseases. Degenerative diseases of the cervical spine are characterized by chronic pain, limited cervical mobility and radiation to the neck and shoulder, upper limb or the skull with dynamic cervical disorders. The highest frequency of such events is found in the age group of 40-50 years old, leading to reduced working capacity and absenteeism. Prevalence of the disease increases with age. Substrate of these events is particularly represented by joint degenerative processes and postural changes of the cervical spine. The study aims at presenting the relationship between pain, disability and quality of life in patients with cervical spondylosis.

LBP management is complex and costly, with socio-economic and medical implications. Disabilities caused by painful back disorders represent a major problem of absenteeism from work (1). The prevalence of LBP in the active population (25-64 years old) is increasing. There are studies (2) showing that between 60 and 80% of people may suffer from back pain during their lifetime and 5% may present radiculopathy, the rest of them being diagnosed with nonspecific LBP. Of those, approximately 30% will be diagnosed with chronic LBP. More recent studies (3) show that the prevalence of LBP appearance for one year is of 65%, for the entire life, it is of 84% and for present day, of 33%. In the developed countries, 1 in 5 adults may experience symptoms of LBP, the number of these reaching 40% in England, Denmark, while in the US, the value is of 7-25%. Approximately 80-90% of patients with LBP are diagnosed with “non-specific” low back pain and 3% will require surgery. LBP is a common condition, representing 1/3 of rheumatic complaints. This condition interests both the young people and the adult one. Therefore, 25% of people aged between 30 and 50 years old consider LBP as the most frequent cause of work incapacity in the people below 45 years old. Risk factors for the occurrence of LBP are: occupational (heavy physical work, lifting weights, torsional movement of the trunk, prolonged standing, sedentary lifestyle), psychological (depression, anxiety, fear of movement), socio-demographic characteristics (weight, age, incorrect posture, lifestyle, educational level, smoking, family problems, low incomes). Medical rehabilitation in LBP involves combating pain and inflammation, improving statics and lumbosacral spine dynamics, improving paravertebral and abdominal muscle strength, gait rehabilitation. These objectives are achieved by pharmacological methods and physical-kinetic therapy. The aim of the study was to emphasize the importance of physical therapy in the recovery of patients with low back pain, versus drug therapy or electrotherapy.

Metabolic syndrome is growing alarming increase today. In addition, the presence of periodontal disease in these patients has important effects on general health control. We studied a group of 148 patients, hospitalized in SCJU Sibiu, aged between 45-79 years who presented metabolic syndrome. The patients were also consulted dentally and then answered a questionnaire. The following data were recorded: pocket depth, loss of epithelial insertion, bleeding after probing, frequency of tooth brushing, regular dental control, cardiovascular risk, alcohol consumption, smoking, diet preferences. Through the AutoML statistical method from the H2O system, we wanted to find out which of these risk factors has the strongest association with the metabolic syndrome. The obtained results confirm the highest association values are given by the severity of the periodontal disease, cardiovascular risk and bleeding on probing. The control of periodontal disease seems to be a feasible measure to control the parameters of the general inflammatory condition in the body. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Stroke represents the third - leading cause of death after heart and neoplastic isease and is one of the biggest cause of disability worldwide. Cardioembolism, through its principal mechanism - atrial fibrillation - constitute an important cause of ischemic stroke. Otherwise, left ventricular hypertrophy (LVH) has been associated with a twofold increase in stroke risk. The study aims at highlighting significant associations between several risk factors of stroke - LVH and atrial fibrillation (AF), respectively LVH and cardiac stenosis contributeng to ischemic stroke. The study comprised of 256 patients with stroke, hospitalized in the County Clinical Emergency Hospital, Sibiu, Romania; they were examined by ultrasound by echocardiography and carotid Duplex echography. The patients were divided in subgroups that were later compared to one another: 167 patients had atrial fibrillation (group A), 89 patients did not have atrial fibrillation (group B). Then both groups were divided in 2 subgroups (with or without LVH). It has been identified another two groups (66 patients with carotid stenosis <50%) and 116 patients with carotid stenosis >50% and each group was divided in 2 subgroups (with or without LVH). Helical tomography is an intensively modulated radiation therapy that has a geometry similar to that of a computed tomography. The aim of this study is to demonstrate the feasibility of the Tomotherapy HD system for the treatment of various cancer localizations: breast, rhinopharynx and prostate. There are retrospectively selected the complex cases involving positively lymph-nodes according to the histopathological results. Advantages of tomotherapy include better conformity of treatment with low doses for the organs at risk (OARs) and fewer adverse reactions comparing with 3D conformal radiotherapy (3DCRT). The low back pain is a public health problem, affecting the adult population and the young one. It is estimated that 90% of the population will experience at least one episode of lower lumbar pain during their lifetime, half of whom may have a second painful episode during the same year. Frequently, the mechanical cause (the pain is somatic and deep, caused by lesions in the musculoskeletal tendon or ligament, in non-specific degenerative or inflammatory diseases) but also the psychosocial factors are incriminated. In low back pain, ultrasounds were used for the analgesic effect, muscle relaxing and for the hyperemia effect. The paper has as purpose the study of the effects of applying ultrasound in relieving symptoms of the low back pain. The physical therapy had the purpose of relaxing the muscles in the sub-acute phase, stretching the paravertebral muscles, relaxing the pelvis, toning the abdominal muscles, stretching the psoas-iliac and the sciatic muscles. All the patients received pharmacological treatment consisting in non-steroidal, neurotrophic anti-inflammatory medicines. The evaluation of the patients was performed at the beginning and at the end of the treatment after 10 days and at the examination after 3 months. For the two groups (study and control), the assessment was made on the basis of some indices and scales, where statistically significant results were obtained in both groups, especially for the group receiving the ultrasound treatment (the pulsed form to avoid the thermal effect) and kinetotherapy. The aim of this investigation was to develop a spectrophotometric method in the visible range for quantitative determination of Fe3+ in a pharmaceutical formulation based on complexation with methylthymol blue. The reaction occurred at a temperature of 30° and the absorbance remains constant after 25-30 min; the bluecolored resulting complex had a maximum absorption at 628 nm. The combination ratio was established through the Job's method of continuous variations. In acetate buffer (pH= 5), Fe3+ forms a complex of 1:1 with methylthymol blue. Lambert-Beer law was obeyed to the concentration area of (2-6) μg/ml; the calibration curve is described by the regression line A= 0.1025° (μg/ml)-0.0013 with a correlation coefficient of R2= 0.9997. For the validation of the method the following parameters were studied, linearity, accuracy, limit of detection, limit of quantification and retrieval. Confidence interval of the average retrieval ranged from 98.79 to 101.13 %. The non-interference of excipients in the solution makes the method suitable for routine dosage of iron in polymaltose complexes. This visible spectrophotometric method was applied to determine Fe3+ concentration in polymaltose iron complex. The validation parameters confirmed that this method could serve to determine Fe3+. The hand is a very important segment in gestures, functionality and the achievement of ADL. The Carpal tunnel syndrome was described for the first time by Paget in 1854 , being a very frequent health condition of the extremity in the upper limb caused by the compression of the median nerve at the level of the fibre bone tunnel at the level of the hand wrist. The incidence of the Carpal tunnel syndrome is approximately 0.125% - 1% /year, having a prevalence of 5-15%. Among the patients diagnosed with the Carpal tunnel syndrome, 80% are over 40 years old, the women being more affected than the men. The Carpal tunnel syndrome is a disability issue with social and economic consequences, being a burden for the society. The recovery is conservative and it consists of immobilisation by orthesis at the hand level, crio-therapy, kinetic therapy, electric therapy (laser, ultrasound, low and average frequency electrical power) or by surgical intervention. This study tries to point out if it is possible to influence the quality of life and the individuals' level of functional independence by applying therapeutic protocols specific to this health condition. The patients diagnosed with the Carpal tunnel syndrome received a complex treatment which included electric therapy (of low and average frequency, TENS, laser and ultrasound), massage for the upper limb and kinetic therapy, with a length of 15 days, then the patients were called for the checkup 30 days later. It is important to set clear objectives for the recovery programmes and to create optimised treatment schemes. They confirm the hypothesis based on which the research was conducted. Therefore, any health condition for this segment may influence the quality of patients' life, with involvement in the achievement of the daily activities and the social professional insertion. Objective: The trial proposes the evaluation of an efficient kinetic programme supported by hygiene and diet for the patients with degenerative diseases at the level of the joints. Material and method: The trial was carried out under ambulatory conditions for a period of six months and it included two lots of patients diagnosed with degenerative diseases at the level of the hips and of the knees. They used a complex physical kinetic therapeutic treatment supported by a diet. The lots were evaluated according to the pain scale VAS, to the scale WOMAC, to the quality of life index QOL and to the body weight index BMI. The family's involvement was also monitored during the patients' recovery period. The results pointed out that the patients who had followed a complex physical kinetic therapeutic treatment and a diet had significantly better results in comparison to the ones who did not follow the indications of the diet. It was noticed that some patients abandoned the physical exercises, predominantly the women. Conclusions: The complex recovery treatment depends on a complex team: the physician, the physio-kinetic therapist, the nutritionist, the dietetician and the psychologist. The profilaxy of these diseases is very important and the treatment has to be individualised. It was noticed that the motivation and the education were defining elements for the recovery. Renal artery stenosis represents the most frequent cause of secondary arterial hypertension. The atherosclerotic disease, which mainly affects all the proximal third of the main artery, is encountered mostly in the elders. The fibromuscular dysplasia affects most of all the distal two-thirds and the renal arteries branches and is met mostly in young women. The renovascular disease is an important and most of the time unknown cause of renal insufficiency, refractory hypertension and global cardiovascular mortality. As long as the severe renal artery disease can cause renal dysfunction, the identification and the treatment of important renal artery stenoses can have major benefits on the state of health. We present an interesting case that falls into this pathology encountered in our medical practice. There are multiple particularities of the case: the appearance of a severe hypertension (Systolic TA over 260mmHg, diastolic BP over 150mmHg) in a 19 year-old male patient, absence of symptoms, renal arteries anomaly, concordances and discordances of the imagistic investigations, early appearance of complications of the arterial hypertension, and of the left ventricular hypertrophy and left ventricle diastolic dysfunction, respectively; the association at the hypertensive cardiopathy of the ventricular septal defect of and the basal interventricular septal aneurysm. The paper aims at studying the effects produced by different levels of ultrasound intensity with the frequency of 1 MHz used to treat chronic back pain. The study was conducted over a period of two years, comprising a number of 312 patients with lumbo-sacral disease, aged between 10 and 20 years old. We used a device that produces BTL-07 ultrasonic frequency of 1MHz. Continuous ultrasonic waveform with an intensity of 0.2 W/cm2, respectively 0.4 W/cm2 was applied for 4 minutes. Clinicalfunctional parameters were followed on the onset and at the end of the recovery programme: pain, functional impotence, spinal syndrome, radicular syndrome, dural syndrome, fascial syndrome, psychological syndrome, muscle testing, gait evaluation. For the statistical processing of the data obtained, the "t" Student test was applied. It could be observed that the treatment combining Nonsteroidal Anti-Inflammatory Drugs (NSAIDs) with ultrasounds of 0.4 W/cm2, applied in chronic low back pain allows a significant increase of the results during the recovery programme.
