En este proyecto nos centraremos en el desarrollo y optimización de una antena para la recepción de servicios de televisión desarrollados para terminales móviles. Ya que, como veremos a lo largo del texto, las tecnologías de difusión de televisión convencionales no se ajustan a las necesidades de estos pequeños dispositivos.

[ES] El presente Trabajo Fin de Máster tiene como objetivo el desarrollo de una solución de conectividad 4G que permita efectuar un desvío de llamada, desde las placas de videoportero de la empresa FERMAX, que están recubiertas de carcasas metálicas, hasta un smartphone. El trabajo se ha realizado en la empresa FERMAX, en colaboración con el instituto de investigación iTEAM de la UPV. Para alcanzar este objetivo, se estudia en primer lugar la problemática de conectividad que presentan las antenas integradas en dispositivos electrónicos con envolventes metálicas. Asimismo, tras este estudio teórico se proponen las antenas chip y las antenas flexibles adhesivas como alternativa comercial de antena integrada. Posteriormente, se plantean diferentes pruebas de campo con ambas soluciones de antena en diferentes configuraciones, y se evalúan, desde el punto de vista experimental, sus prestaciones en cuanto a nivel y calidad de señal de la cobertura 4G. Por último, se despliegan tres instalaciones piloto reales de videoportero FERMAX para comprobar el correcto funcionamiento del servicio de desvío de llamada con las soluciones propuestas., [EN] The aim of this Master's Thesis is to develop a 4G connectivity solution that allows a call forwarding from the video door entry panels of the FERMAX company, which are covered with metal casings, to a smartphone. The work has been carried out in the FERMAX company, in collaboration with the UPV¿s research institute iTEAM. To achieve this goal, the connectivity problem of antennas integrated in electronic devices with metallic covering is first studied. Likewise, after this theoretical study, chip antennas and adhesive flexible antennas are proposed as a commercial alternative of integrated antennas. Subsequently, different field tests are conducted with both proposed antennas in different configurations, and their performance in terms of signal level and signal quality in 4G coverage is evaluated from an experimental point of view. Finally, three real pilot installations of FERMAX video door entry are deployed to check the correct operation of the call forwarding service with the proposed solutions.

[ES] Este trabajo trata del desarrollo de una metodología concreta para llevar a cabo la gestión de un proyecto que da soporte técnico a un sistema de medición de viento. El sistema está formado por la conexión de cuatro nodos de antenas que se ocupan de la recolección y el procesamiento de datos de viento, como la temperatura y la velocidad, mediante el uso de sensores de medición. Después, cada nodo recopila los datos y los reenvía a un nodo central que, a través de una red ad hoc inalámbrica, procesa los datos y los encaminan a una interfaz web, donde se visualizan los datos tanto en tablas numéricas, como en gráficas a tiempo real. Esta metodología se estructura en siete capítulos: primero el marco de desarrollo detallado de cada parte, segundo la estructura de organización, evaluación, flujo de trabajo y metodología, tercero estudio de mercado y planificación del presupuesto, cuarto análisis de los requisitos necesarios para el funcionamiento del sistema, quinto análisis detallado de los riesgos, sexto valoración de los indicadores de rendimiento, séptimo ejecución final completa y exposición de los resultados., [EN] This work deals with the development of a concrete methodology to carry out the management of a project that gives technical support to a wind measurement system. The system consists of the connection of four antenna nodes that deal with the collection and processing of wind data, such as temperature and speed, by using measurement sensors. Each node then collects the data and forwards it to a central node which, through a wireless ad hoc network, processes the data and routes it to a web interface, where the data is visualised in both numerical tables and real-time graphs. This methodology is structured in seven chapters: first the detailed development framework of each part, second the organisational structure, evaluation, workflow and methodology, third market research and budget planning, fourth analysis of the requirements necessary for the operation of the system, fifth detailed risk analysis, sixth assessment of the performance indicators, seventh complete final implementation and presentation of the results.

[EN] A four-port wideband cavity-backed antenna is presented for indoor base stations applications. The antenna is composed of a square open cavity with an X-shaped isolating block and 4 feeding monopoles symmetrically and orthogonally arranged in the aperture of the cavity. A novel methodology based on Characteristic Modes Analysis (CMA) is used for identifying the modes which are contributing to the coupling. As a result of this analysis, an X-shaped isolating block placed at the center of the cavity is proposed for increasing the isolation between ports. A wide-band four-port antenna with unidirectional radiation patterns is obtained with a measured impedance bandwidth (S-11< 10 dB) ranging from 1.55 to 6 GHz (118%), covering most of the sub-6 GHz 5G bands. The proposed antenna provides four independent radiation patterns, with 16 dB of measured minimum isolation between ports and an efficiency higher than 84%. Multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) compatibility is confirmed with a 4 x 4 MIMO simulated system with an envelope correlation coefficient (ECC)<0.5 in different propagation conditions. The antenna is easy to fabricate and presents a compact size of 129:5 x 129:5 x 28.2 mm(3) (0.68 lambda x0.68 lambda x0.15 lambda, at a frequency f = f(min) = 1.55 GHz). Moreover, the antenna has the advantage of avoiding complex feeding structures with baluns or directional couplers.

El objetivo del presente proyecto es diseñar una antena de tipo ranuras que opere a las frecuencias de 2.4 GHz y 3.5 GHz para poder ser utilizada en aplicaciones WiFi y WiMax respectivamente. Si fuera posible, dada la cercanía frecuencial a WiFi, también se va a intentar que pueda operar en 2.1 GHz, frecuencia que usa UMTS (Universal Mobile Telecommunications System), tecnología principal de la tercera generación de móviles (3G). La estructura se compondrá de cuatro ranuras, las cuales trabajarán dos a dos en la misma frecuencia, de esta forma aplicaremos técnicas de diversidad que maximizarán las prestaciones de las mismas.

El presente proyecto pretende ser una guía para la realización de proyectos de ingeniería relacionados con el dimensionamiento y planificación de redes de telefonía móvil GSM. Expondremos la mejor forma de realizar un planteamiento y dimensionado de red; explicando punto por punto la mejor forma de hacerlo y apoyándonos con ejemplos prácticos.

[ES] El TFM consiste en la creación de un sistema inteligente que monitorice plazas de aparcamiento y determine si están ocupadas o no. Esto se realizaría con un conjunto de cámaras y sensores conectadas a un IoT Hub de Azure. Si están ocupadas, leerá la matrícula y la plaza de aparcamiento se le asignará durante el tiempo que esté aparcado. Se configuraría la frecuencia de toma de fotografías y se almacenarían temporalmente en un Blob Storage. A continuación se enviarían a las funciones de Azure para su análisis. Se utilizarían funciones de Azure Cognitive Services, que primero detectaría el coche en la plaza de aparcamiento, después leería la matrícula y posteriormente lo almacenaría en la base de datos. Estas funciones transformarían las imágenes en datos, que se almacenarían en una base de datos SQL de Azure. También existirían plazas de aparcamiento que no tengan un sistema de monitorización, si no que ciertos usuarios tendrían su plaza fija. Esto depende del perfil del usuario. Existen dos tipos de usuarios: empleados y jefes. Los empleados deben utilizar el parking que está monitorizado ya que no tienen plaza fija, y los jefes ya tienen una plaza asignada siempre. A partir de los datos, tendríamos dos escenarios distintos: -Usuario: Necesita un registro previo o que la empresa ya tuviera los datos del usuario. Utilizaría una aplicación creada con PowerApps para poder buscar su coche introduciendo su matrícula de coche. También, podría reservar plazas de aparcamiento. -Empresa Administradora: Utilizaría tres herramientas distintas: +PowerApps: Gestionar de manera sencilla los aparcamientos desde una aplicación. +Power BI: Analizar los datos obtenidos sobre el uso de las plazas de aparcamientos y mostrarlos de una manera sencilla. +Log Analytics: Monitorizar el uso de las aplicaciones, para ver estadísticas de uso., [EN] This TFM consists of creating an intelligent system that monitors parking spaces and determines if they are occupied or not. This would be done with a set of cameras and sensors connected to an Azure IoT Hub. If they are busy, they will read the license plate and the parking space will be assigned to them during the time they are used. The frequency of taking pictures would be configured and they would be temporarily stored in Blob Storage. They would then be sent to Azure features for analysis. Azure Cognitive Services functions would be used, which would first detect the car in the parking space, then read the license plate and then store it in the database. These functions would transform the images into data, which would be stored in an Azure SQL database. There would also be parking spaces that do not have a monitoring system, but rather that certain users would have their parking space fixed. This depends on the user's profile. There are two types of users: employees and bosses. Employees must use the monitored parking since they do not have a fixed space, and the bosses already have an assigned space at all times. From the data, we would have two different scenarios: -User: You need a previous registration or that the company already had the user's data. You would use an application created with PowerApps to be able to search for your car by entering your car number plate. Also, you could reserve parking spaces. -Administrative Company: It would use three different tools: + PowerApps: Easily manage parking lots from an application. + Power BI: Analyze the data obtained on the use of parking spaces and display them in a simple way. + Log Analytics: Monitor application usage, to view usage statistics.

[EN] A preliminary numerical magnetic field study of a wireless power transfer system composed of two interconnected source loops is addressed in this paper. The key feature of this study is to propose a new configuration capable of maintaining a uniform magnetic field density between the two loops. Furthermore, it has been shown that the Theory of Characteristic Modes is a helpful tool for investigating the near field of the magnetically-coupled loops.

[EN] In this paper, a new design of a reconfigurable antenna is proposed. The antenna structure is using two PIN diodes for switching between two radiation patterns (directional and bidirectional) and a SPDT switch to achieve good impedance matching. The simulated results show a good impedance matching, with S11 below -10 dB using the SPDT switch configuration. In addition, the far-field directivity for both configurations is around 5 dB.

[EN] Independently of any electrical contact, running electronic devices such as smartphones, smart watches, RFID tags etc., is now attainable over small and large distances through Wireless Power Transfer technology. Although, designing systems maintaining appreciable power transfer efficiency still not always achievable. Using two parallel loops, the Theory of Characteristic Modes provides physical insight into the power transfer efficiency. Furthermore, to reach straightforward maximization of the modal power transfer efficiency, the focus of this paper is analyzing the impact of the separation distance and the overlapping between the two antennas on the characteristic modes and their contribution in the total efficiency of the power. The study considers different positions and frequencies of the two parallel antennas.

[EN] In this paper we present a new method to compute singular integrals and nearly singular integrals in the context of boundary integral equations for electromagnetism. In particular the method is well suited for integral equations of the second kind. The method consist of splitting the integral in two parts, one regular, which is computed via adaptive integration, and another singular and local (with very small support of the integrand) which is computed using asymptotic expansion. This method can be applied to any second kind integral equation arising in CEM, like MFIE, Charge-Current integral equation, Non Resonant Charge Current Integral Equation (NRCCIE),...

[EN] A study on the effect of the ground plane in a chip antenna efficiency is presented. For the experiment, a chip antenna has been designed to be fabricated in LTCC technology. The size of the ground plane, the clearance area where the antenna is placed and the position of the antenna has been analyzed obtaining their impact in the radiation properties of the antenna. Useful information has been obtained for the design and implementation of small antennas for sub-1GHz application such as ISM bands(868 MHz Eur, and 915 MHz USA) or the new licensed sub-1GHz 5G bands.

[EN] Agriculture 4.0 represents a considerable increase in the number of sensors, as well as the appearance of new wireless technologies, which will mean the need to efficiently planning radio communication systems in agricultural environments. In this work, the applicability of the WalfischBertoni and the Ikegami propagation models that have been used to estimate propagation losses in urban environments, has been studied in citrus plantations. The similarities and differences of the profiles between the transmitter and the receiver, have been analyzed to identify the dominant propagation mechanisms in each case: buildings, in urban environments, and trees, in citrus plantations, assuming that the height of the transmitter is above the height of the trees and the height of the receiver below them. The propagation losses estimated by the models have been compared with the measurements carried out at the 3.5GHz frequency (one of the 5G bands) in a lemon plantation after the fruit was collected. Under these conditions, it has been observed how the slope of the regression line of the measurements has a value of 2.7, far from that obtained by the Walfisch-Bertoni model and closer to the one estimated by the Ikegami model. Furthermore, when analyzing the error between the theoretical and the measured losses, a standard deviation of 6.39dB is observed for the Walfisch-Bertoni model and 4.91dB for the Ikegami model.

[ES] En años recientes, el tráfico de datos a nivel mundial está creciendo significativamente. Debido a esto, los nuevos sistemas de telecomunicaciones buscan incrementar las velocidades de transmisión con amplia área de cobertura. Para los retos mencionados, las lentes y sus variantes son soluciones prometedoras. Las lentes tienen propiedades interesantes porque generalmente poseen bajas pérdidas y una gran directividad, que son los requisitos básicos que deben cumplir las antenas para estos nuevos sistemas de comunicaciones. El objetivo de esta tesis es proponer el uso de la Teoría de Modos Característicos para facilitar el diseño, la optimización y el análisis de lentes metálicas con alta ganancia sobre un gran ancho de banda, manteniendo un tamaño compacto en la estructura. El análisis mediante la Teoría de Modos Característicos se ha utilizado como punto de partida para evaluar el comportamiento modal y proporcionar una visión física de las características de radiación de la estructura metálica en un determinado rango de frecuencias. En este trabajo se realiza un estudio de los modos característicos de los principales cuerpos geométricos regulares con simetría de revolución, para ver su potencial en cuanto a ser empleados en el diseño de las lentes metálicas. Específicamente, se investiga la significancia modal, el ángulo característico y la contribución de cada modo a la potencia radiada total cuando incide una onda plana en el cuerpo conductor. Utilizando la información proporcionada por los autovalores, se optimiza la forma y el tamaño de la estructura metálica. Adicionalmente, se selecciona la estructura de alimentación óptima que permita excitar el modo deseado en la estructura. Seguidamente, se propone un método alternativo para el cálculo del punto focal de la estructura metálica. Además, en esta tesis se estudian los alimentadores de lentes más importantes que se han desarrollado en los últimos años y se proponen dos alimentadores prácticos con un bajo, [CA] En anys recents, el tràfic de dades a nivell mundial està creixent significativament. L'anàlisi mitjançant la Teoria de Modes Característics s'ha utilitzat com a punt de partida per a avaluar el comportament modal i proporcionar una visió física de les característiques de radiació de l'estructura metàl·lica en un determinat rang de frequències. En aquest treball, es realitza un estudi dels modes característics dels principals cossos geomètrics regulars amb simetria de revolució, per a veure el seu potencial quant a ser emprats en el disseny de les lents metàl·liques. Consequently, the new telecommunications systems seek to increase the data transmission rate with a wide coverage area. To cope with these challenges, lens antennas and their variants are promising solutions. Lenses have interesting properties because they have generally low losses and great directivity, which are the basic requirements that antennas must satisfy for these new communications systems. The aim of this thesis is to propose the use of the Theory of Characteristic Modes to facilitate the design, optimization and analysis of metallic lenses with high gain in a large bandwidth, achieving a compact size for the structure. The analysis with the Theory of Characteristic Modes has been used as a starting point to evaluate the modal behavior and provide a physical insight of the radiation characteristics of the metallic structure in a certain frequency range. In this work, a study of the characteristic modes of the main regular geometric objects with symmetry of revolution is carried out, to investigate its potential to be employed in the design of the metallic lenses. Specifically, the modal significance and characteristic angle is investigated, along with the contribution of each mode to the total radiated power when illuminating the conducting body by a plane wave. Using the information considered by the eigenvalues, the shape and size of the metallic structure is optimized and the optimal feeding is determined, which allows to excite the desired mode in the structure. Then, an alternative method is proposed to calculate the focal point of the metallic structure. Furthermore, in this thesis we study the most important lens feeders that have been developed in recent years, and two practical feeders with low cross polarization level are proposed to operate in microwave and millimeter-wave frequencies. [EN] This paper presents a compact multimode antenna for GPS applications, where multiple modes are excited in order to achieve radiation pattern diversity. Based on the Characteristic Mode Analysis of a rectangular plate of 80 mm x 54 mm, a practical implementation of the excitation network is presented.

[EN] An analysis of the radiation efficiency depending on the position of a small antenna and the size and shape of the ground plane is presented. For the analysis a LTCC based chip antenna has been used placing it on FR4 square, circular and triangular PCBs. The study is an insight of the key points for obtaining proper radiation efficiency in designs for the new licensed 5G IoT bands (600 MHz-USA, 700 MHz-Europe) and the ISM bands (868 MHz-Europe, 915 MHz-USA).
