In the growing halal industry, there are differences of opinion among researchers about the effect of Islamic attributes on consumer satisfaction. Therefore, this paper aims to evaluate the effect of Islamic attributes on consumer satisfaction. The Prisma flow diagram indicated 23 papers and consists of 59 studies to analyze with JASP Software. The study identifies significant authors, dominant publishers, methodology, and theories commonly employed in this topic. The result proves that catering to Muslim needs through Islamic attributes can significantly enhance consumer satisfaction and th e presence of other variables as moderators will strengthen tourist satisfaction.

This study aims to address a gap in research by examining the relationship between leadership styles, innovative work behavior, and innovative performance among academic staff at public universities. Specifically, the study seeks to identify the extent to which inclusive and ambidextrous leadership styles can facilitate innovative performance, examine whether innovative work behavior enhances innovative performance, and discover whether innovative work behavior mediates the relationship between inclusive and ambidextrous leadership styles and innovative performance among academic staff at public universities. A critical survey was conducted using a questionnaire among academic staff at two public universities located on the east coast of Peninsular Malaysia, generating 300 responses. The study used SPSS 27.0 and SEM with AMOS 24.0 to analyze the results. The findings of this study show that inclusive and ambidextrous leadership are positively associated with innovative work behavior. The study also found that innovative work behavior facilitates innovative performance. The study highlights the mediating effect of innovative work behavior on the relationship between leadership styles and academic staff’s innovative performance, offering important insights into how public universities can improve their academic staff’s innovative performance through effective leadership and work behavior strategies.

The purpose of this qualitative research program was to study and compare stakeholder participation in community-based tourism (CBT) in communities in Phitsanulok Province and Sukhothai Province in Thailand, using case studies. Data were collected from 35 key informants from 9 villages, selected by purposive sampling, and using a structured interview form as a research tool in face-to-face, in-depth interviews. The program was undertaken during July 2021. Issues identified in an analysis of the data collected were grouped and coded. A number of different issues were identified between CBT communities. A high level of participation in CBT by leaders, homestay owners, and CBT operators was observed. Citizen control level of participation was found in both provinces, but consultation as a participation strategy was found only in Sukhothai Province. As well, differences in participation activities were identified between older participants and young participants and also between the two provinces. Volunteer work attitude and participation by visitors were also differences identified between these two provinces, indicating the different types of tourism, such as develop gastronomic tourism and creative tourism products, that should be offered by CBT communities in the two provinces.

Medicinal plants have been historically significant for treating common human diseases in Mexico. Although some ethnobotanical research exists, limited ethnomedicinal data has documented medicinal plants employed for eye health. This review focuses on ethnomedicinal information and preclinical and clinical studies regarding medicinal plants used in Mexico for treating symptoms associated with eye conditions. An electronic database search was conducted by consulting scientific articles, books about Mexican herbal medicine, and academic theses. This work recorded 69 plant species belonging to 26 plant families, especially plants from the Crassulaceae family, which are used as remedies for irritation and infections in the eye. Eight of these medicinal plants have been the subject of preclinical studies using ocular models, and one medicinal plant has been tested in clinical trials. The evidence of pharmacological effects indicates the promising therapeutic potential of these medicinal plants for developing new treatments for eye conditions. However, toxicological studies are necessary to ensure safe application to the eye, particularly as traditional medicine continues to be relied upon worldwide. In addition, this review highlights the need to perform ethnobotanical and phytochemical studies in Mexico regarding the medicinal flora used as remedies for eye conditions.

In electric buses, heating, ventilation and air conditioning are responsible for up to 50% of the energy consumption. It is therefore necessary to identify improved thermal settings to minimize the energy consumption, while guaranteeing good thermal comfort. Hence, an accurate prediction of the passengers’ thermal sensation (TS) is needed. One of the most widely used models for TS prediction is the PMV-PPD model, which has been shown to provide reliable results in uniform, steady-state climatic conditions. Since these are not present in an urban bus, the accuracy of the PMV-PPD model diminishes. Additionally, some of the parameters needed are difficult to obtain (i.e., clothing insulation). This paper presents seven different machine learning models (ML) for the prediction of TS using three different sets of parameters. The first set comprises five parameters similar to the PMV-PPD model, the second uses only two, and the third uses all parameters available. To obtain the necessary data, climatic measurements in an electric bus in Berlin, Germany, were made. These measurements were performed in summer for ambient temperatures between 14.7 °C and 32.0 °C. Person-related information as well as the thermal comfort assessment were obtained via surveys. Despite the relatively small data set, four of our seven ML models performed well with a median accuracy between 70.3% and 69.4%. This could also be observed when using only two parameters. Hence, the efforts to gain experimental data can be reduced significantly. For the PMV-PPD model, a median shift of +1 was observed for mild and warm TS. The median accuracy rises from 48.8% without shift to 68.8% with shift.

In this paper, we considered one of the problems that arise during drilling automation, namely the automation of lithology identification from drill cuttings images. Usually, this work is performed by experienced geologists, but this is a tedious and subjective process. Drill cuttings are the cheapest source of rock formation samples; therefore, reliable lithology prediction can greatly reduce the cost of analysis during drilling. To predict the lithology content from images of cuttings samples, we used a convolutional neural network (CNN). For training a model with an acceptable generalization ability, we applied dataset-cleaning techniques, which help to reveal bad samples, as well as samples with uncertain labels. It was shown that the model trained on a cleaned dataset performs better in terms of accuracy. Data cleaning was performed using a cross-validation technique, as well as a clustering analysis of embeddings, where it is possible to identify clusters with distinctive visual characteristics and clusters where visually similar samples of rocks are attributed to different lithologies during the labeling process.

The pedagogy method academicians in the Kurdistan Region follow has not been reformed since 1992. There is a need to test different pedagogical beliefs, including constructivist and traditional pedagogical beliefs. This study examined the effect of pedagogical beliefs on technology adoption among university lecturers. The present study extends the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) by including lecturers' pedagogical beliefs and examining them in Arab counties. A questionnaire was distributed during the COVID-19 pandemic, and 393 data were collected from university lecturers. The study examined how the constructivist and traditional pedagogical beliefs influence the model's three constructs: perceived ease of use, perceived usefulness, and actual use. This study has new finding that contributes to TAM, and the reasons are deliberated.

Due to the increase in multidrug-resistant microorganisms, the investigation of novel or more efficient antimicrobial compounds is essential. The World Health Organization issued a list of priority multidrug-resistant bacteria whose eradication will require new antibiotics. Among them, Acinetobacter baumannii, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, and Enterobacteriaceae are in the “critical” (most urgent) category. As a result, major investigations are ongoing worldwide to discover new antimicrobial compounds. Burkholderia, specifically Burkholderia sensu stricto, is recognized as an antimicrobial-producing group of species. Highly dissimilar compounds are among the molecules produced by this genus, such as those that are unique to a particular strain (like compound CF66I produced by Burkholderia cepacia CF-66) or antimicrobials found in a number of species, e.g., phenazines or ornibactins. The compounds produced by Burkholderia include N-containing heterocycles, volatile organic compounds, polyenes, polyynes, siderophores, macrolides, bacteriocins, quinolones, and other not classified antimicrobials. Some of them might be candidates not only for antimicrobials for both bacteria and fungi, but also as anticancer or antitumor agents. Therefore, in this review, the wide range of antimicrobial compounds produced by Burkholderia is explored, focusing especially on those compounds that were tested in vitro for antimicrobial activity. In addition, information was gathered regarding novel compounds discovered by genome-guided approaches.

This research study examines the characteristics of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) volatility of stock indexes. The following models are used in this research: Generalized Autoregressive Conditional Heteroscedasticity (GARCH), Exponential Generalized Autoregressive Conditional Heteroscedasticity (EGARCH), Fractionally Integrated Generalized Autoregressive Conditional Heteroscedasticity (FIGARCH), Glosten Jaganathan Runkle Generalized Autoregressive Conditional Heteroscedasticity (GJR-GARCH), and Multifractal Model of Asset Return (MMAR). The research also used the data from the ASEAN country members’ (the Philippines, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, and Thailand) stock indexes for the period from January 2002 until 31 January 2016 to determine the suitable model.Meanwhile, the results of the MMAR parameter showed that the returns of the countries have a characteristic called long-term memory. The authors found that the scaling exponents are associated with the characteristics of the specific markets including the ASEAN member countries and can be used to differentiate markets in their stage of development. Finally, the simulated data are compared with the original data by scaling function where most of the stock markets of the selected ASEAN countries have long-term memory with the scaling behavior of information asymmetry. Some of the countries such as the Philippines and Indonesia have their own alternative models using GARCH and EGARCH due to the possibility of leverage. Generally, MMAR is the best model for use in ASEAN market, because this model considered Hurst exponent as a parameter of long-term memory that indicates persistent behavior.

Latin America is a multicultural region with ancient traditional medicine. There is extensive knowledge of the use of medicinal plants for wound healing in this region. Nevertheless, many of these medicinal plants lack pharmacological, toxicological, and chemical studies. This review focuses on the ethnomedicinal, phytochemical, and pharmacological (preclinical and clinical) studies of medicinal plants with wound healing activity, from Latin America. An electronic database search was conducted by consulting scientific articles and books. A total of 305 plant species with wound healing activity were recorded, based on traditional medicine. Most medicinal plants used in wound healing in Latin America are topically administered; their methods of preparation are mainly by water infusion from aerial parts. Only thirty-five percent of medicinal plants used in traditional medicine for wound healing have been experimentally validated for their pharmacological effects, and the wound healing activity of five medicinal plants has been studied in clinical trials. In all, 25 compounds (mostly terpenes and flavonoids) have been isolated from medicinal plants with wound healing activity; therefore, extensive work is necessary for a multidisciplinary approach to evaluate the wound healing effects of medicinal plants in Latin America. The mechanism of action of medicinal plants, their toxicological actions on the skin, and their bioactive compounds, have yet to be investigated. This review on the ethnomedicinal, phytochemical, and pharmacological studies, of medicinal plants from Latin America with wound healing activity, offers promising data for further studies, as well as providing new insights into their possible role in wound care.

Population of monkeys in Peninsular Malaysia has been inconsistent with regards to their numbers. At a certain times they deemed pest because of their large numbers, like Macaca fascicularis, a listed protected animal as per local Government jurisdiction. Here we evaluated population status along with recruitments rate, considering three species i.e. Long-tailed Macaques, Dusky-Leaf-Monkeys and Pig-tailed Macaques at seven randomly selected areas in Peninsular Malaysia. For analysis, Generalized Linear Model and Probability Density Function [pdf] analyses were conducted. As a result we perceived Kolmogorov values 0.153-0.479 and Anderson statistics 33.258-103.45. The geometric pdf (Eµ = 1/P,σ[sup 2] = [sup 1-p/p] prescribed P = 0.05114) which precisely coincides with the population distribution of the mentioned species. Further, it has been assumed that the smaller number of monkeys posses higher probability as compared with higher numbers in specified colony and vice versa. The results suggested that Bukit Selambau possessed highest parametric frequencies for some of the population indices except the adult male exhibited highest frequencies in Botanical gardens (x=2.917). Overall, species of Long-tailed Macaques was found predominantly (x=20.688) among the selected areas. Further, we established the colony size as 1-17 individuals per group. In equatorial countries like Malaysia, the cooling of buildings is almost entirely dependent on air-conditioning, with electricity as the main source of the energy required. As the country develops, with more buildings being built, and as the population grows, with more people demanding thermal comfort in the buildings they work and live in, the rate of electricity consumption for cooling purposes will continue to increase dramatically from year to year. This phenomenon requires the application of alternative energy options and thermal storage. Ground thermal storage is an example of thermal storage which can supply cooling and heating effects resulting in a significant reduction of electricity consumption. This paper discusses the potential of the implementation of ground thermal storage by using a ground heat exchanger (GHE) to supply passive cooling for any application. An analysis has been conducted based on an empirical equation from conduction heat transfer for depths of up to 30 m and thermal diffusivities from 0.04 to 0.1 m2/day. The main input parameters were obtained from a local weather station for three consecutive years. The result showed that a significant reduction occurs at a depth of 2.0 m and below, meaning that cooling can be supplied constantly throughout the year. The temperature amplitude is also attenuated relatively with depth, whereby amplitudes of less than 1 °C occur at a depth of more than 4 m with a thermal diffusivity of 0.04 m²/day. In addition, thermal diffusivity gives a significant increment in temperature amplitude and it is suggested to be maintained at a value of less than 0.06 m²/day. This result provides useful information to researchers and engineers in the field of underground installation of materials or systems such as gas pipelines, water supply and for underground cable transmittance. Job analysis and employees' perception of justice have a significant influence on employee performance within an organization. This study examined the relationships between job analysis, job performance, and procedural justice among local employees in Jordan Industrial Estates. The literature demonstrated gaps in knowledge regarding the relationships between these variables in developing countries, which are intended to be filled by this study. The study drew from the pay model and equity theory. Data were collected with a survey questionnaire from 690 Jordanian employees working in three industrial estates. The data were analyzed through structural equation modelling (SEM) using SPSS and AMOS software tools. The results indicated to a significant positive relationship between job analysis and job performance, job analysis and procedural justice, and a positive relationship between procedural justice and job performance. Also, it is found that procedural justice mediates the relationship between job analysis and job performance. It is expected that the results of this study would have an impact on employee's performance through the fair implementation of one of the human resources practices, namely, job analysis, and thus organizational performance. Also, it contributes to the body of knowledge and supports the mediating role of procedural justice in decisions taken within the organization.

This study aims to analyze the role of universities in economic development in the areas of tourism-based communities in Lampung. This study uses secondary data related to tourism, higher education, and macroeconomics of Lampung Province during the period of 2000-2016. The analysis is done by using panel regression method. The results show that Higher Education plays an enormous role in the economic development of the economy in the blood-based areas of tourism and which has tourism potential in Lampung. Most of the villagers who are in tertiary education but work in urban areas as a weakness of their contribution and domino effect on low investment, welfare, and lack of employment. This is why they are wandering to the big city. There is also a social gap which has significant economic disparities. They have access to education, health, and supporting infrastructure. In terms of the number of existing universities, it was found that they have not been able to optimally improve economic development in these areas.

Reliable geothermal data are required for basin and petroleum system modeling. The essential shortcomings of the methods and results of previous geothermal investigations lead to a necessity to reappraise the data on the thermal properties and heat flow. A new, advanced experimental basis was used to provide reliable data on vertical variations in the thermal properties of formation and heat flow for the area surrounding a prospecting borehole drilled through an unconventional hydrocarbon reservoir of the Domanik Formation in the Orenburg region (Russia). Temperature logging was conducted 12.5 months after well drilling. The thermal properties of the rocks were measured with continuous thermal core profiling on all 1699 recovered core samples. Within non-cored intervals, the thermal conductivity of the rocks was determined from well-logging data. The influence of core aging, multiscale heterogeneity and anisotropy, in situ pressure and temperature on the thermal properties of rock was accounted for. The terrestrial heat flow was determined to be 72.6 ± 2.2 mW·m−2—~114% larger than the published average data for the studied area. The experiment presents the first experience of supporting basin modeling in unconventional plays with advanced experimental geothermal investigations.

The aim of the present study was to evaluate the hypoglycemic potential of Trixis angustifolia in alloxan-induced diabetic mice. An intragastric adminis-tration of the aqueous extract (50, 100 and 200 mg/kg) prepared from the aerial parts of T. angustifolia was evaluated. The treatment with the extract at 100 mg/kg produced a significant lowered (30.5%) of the blood glucose levels in diabetic mice after 15 days of daily oral administration. In addition, the extract induced a significant decrease in serum total cholesterol, low density lipoprotein whereas increased the high-density lipoprotein level. Additionally, the presence of alkaloids, cumarins, saponins, flavonoids and reducing sugars were identified in the extract. These findings provide a basis explain-ing the traditional folk medicine use of this plant as a hypoglycemic agent by the Mexican people.

The aim of this research is to examine and analyze the effect of the commitment, trust, and performance management on lecturers performance. It used a survey on 240 respondents of universities selected randomly. Data were analyzed by using path analysis. It shows that that employees trust is affected directly commitment as well as performance management. Performance is affected directly by commitment, and trust as well as employees performance management. Based on those findings it can be concluded that any concern toward, commitment, trust, and employees per-formance management of Private Higher Education in the Kopertis southern Suma-tera region II have an effect on performance employees. Therefore, commitment, and trust, and employees performance management should be put into strategic plan-ning of human resources development in increasing the performance employees of Private Higher Education in the Kopertis southern Sumatera region II, however other variables are necessary to be taken into account properly.

A conventional and seismic method for determining the ultimate pile bearing capacity was proposed and compared. The Spectral Analysis of Surface Wave (SASW) method is one of the non-destructive seismic techniques that do not require drilling and sampling of soils, was used in the determination of shear wave velocity (Vs) and damping (D) profile of soil. The soil strength was found to be directly proportional to the Vs and its value has been successfully applied to obtain shallow bearing capacity empirically. A method is proposed in this study to determine the pile bearing capacity using Vs and D measurements for the design of pile and also as an alternative method to verify the bearing capacity from the other conventional methods of evaluation. The objectives of this study are to determine Vs and D profile through frequency response data from SASW measurements and to compare pile bearing capacities obtained from the method carried out and conventional methods. All SASW test arrays were conducted near the borehole and location of conventional pile load tests. In obtaining skin and end bearing pile resistance, the Hardin and Drnevich equation has been used with reference strains obtained from the method proposed by Abbiss. Back analysis results of pile bearing capacities from SASW were found to be 18981 kN and 4947 kN compared to 18014 kN and 4633 kN of IPLT with differences of 5% and 6% for Damansara and Kuala Lumpur test sites, respectively. The results of this study indicate that the seismic method proposed in this study has the potential to be used in estimating the pile bearing capacity.

This paper presented the potential of flood reservoir integrated with pumped hydropower storage for electricity production in Pekan, Malaysia. Based on the procedure in T echnical Release 55 (T R- 55), the volume of the reservoir to attenuat e flood was 5.2 million3. The volume estimated will be the size of the lower reservoir of proposed PHS and act as flood water catchment during flood seasons. The system proposed an integration of PHS with wind turbines and connect it to the grid. The Hybrid Optimization Model for Electric Renewable (HOMER) software was used to model system for electricity production. The software has simulated 200 different configurations of systems which included the diesel-only system and hybrid wind/diesel system. The standalone diesel system could produce about 25,041,824 kWh of electricity per year and emits 30,030,457 kg/year of pollutants into the atmosphere. Meanwhile, the hybrid wind/diesel could produce 25,668,980 kWh/year of electricity and emits 29,293,174 kg/year of total pollutants into the air. Although, the standalone diesel has the lowest cost of energy among all configurations which is RM 0.852/kWh, but it releases the most amount of carbon dioxide. The high emission of this gasses can have many environmental effect s in a long term.
