Objective: Fear of cancer recurrence or progression (FCR) is considered one of the most common unmet needs among patients with cancer. This study sought to translate and evaluate the psychometric properties of the Fear of Cancer Recurrence scale (FCR4/7) and Fear of Cancer Recurrence Inventory-Short Form (FCRI-SF)., Methods: This study involved three phases: (1) translation and cultural adaptation of the FCR4/7 and FCRI-SF measures, (2) validity and reliability testing of the Portuguese version of these measures, and (3) examining patient's perceptions of these measures. Eligible patients were diagnosed with localized breast cancer, and patients with metastatic cancer. Descriptive analyses were collated, and psychometric analysis were conducted (confirmatory factor analysis)., Results: A total of 200 patients were recruited (100 patients with localized and 100 patients with metastatic cancer). A significant proportion of patients reported moderate to severe FCR (FCR7: 32.0% and FCRI-SF: 43.0%). Female gender, younger age and metastatic cancer were associated with higher levels of FCR. Psychometric analyses suggested that the Portuguese versions of the FCR4/7 and FCRI-SF were valid, unidimensional in nature, with acceptable reliability coefficients across all scales. In a sub-sample qualitative analysis (n = 75), most patients were satisfied with the relevance of both measures., Conclusion: Our findings suggest the Portuguese versions of the FCR4/7 and FCRI-SF are valid tools to assess FCR among patients with localized and metastatic cancer. Objective: Se To analyze the prevalence and factors associated with overweight in Brazilian capitals and the Federal District, Brazil, 2019., Methods: Se Cross-sectional study, with data from the Surveillance of risk and protective factors for chronic diseases by telephone survey, 2019. Prevalence was calculated overweight and association with sociodemographic and behavioral characteristics and health status, stratified according to sex., Results: Se The prevalence of overweight was 55.9% (95%CI 54.9;56.9), associated in men with age of 35-44 years (PR=1.87 - 95%CI 1.65;2.12), alcohol consumption (PR=1.09 - 95%CI 1.03;1.15), and hypertension (PR=1.24 - 95%CI 1.17;1.31); and in women, associated to age 45-54 years (PR=2.03 - 95%CI 1.77;2.32), habit of watching television for 3h/day (PR=1.09 - 95%CI 1.04;1.15), and poor/very poor health status (PR=1.31 - 95%CI 1.20;1.43)., Conclusion: Se Overweight was observed in more than half of the sample, associated with hypertension, diabetes mellitus and alcohol consumption, in both sexes.

Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) are means to handle information, streamline communication, and contribute to patient care. This article describes the incorporation of Information and Communication Technologies in primary care and its association with quality, based on the Brazilian National Program for the Improvement of Access and Quality in Primary Care (PMAQ in portuguese). This was a cross-sectional study with 17,053 teams. An Index of Incorporation of ICTs was created, which included: information infrastructure, systems, and utilization. Regression analysis was used to assess associations. Only 13.5% of the teams had a high degree of ICTs. The strongest association was seen in the utilization of information. ICTs can contribute to improving quality of primary care.

Ion tracks formed in amorphous Ge by swift heavy-ion irradiation have been identified with experiment and modeling to yield unambiguous evidence of tracks in an amorphous semiconductor. Their underdense core and overdense shell result from quenched-in radially outward material flow. Following a solid-to-liquid phase transformation, the volume contraction necessary to accommodate the high-density molten phase produces voids, potentially the precursors to porosity, along the ion direction. Their bow-tie shape, reproduced by simulation, results from radially inward resolidification.

Lift-off protocols for thin films for improved extended X-ray absorption fine structure (EXAFS) measurements are presented. Using wet chemical etching of the substrate or the interlayer between the thin film and the substrate, stand-alone high-quality micrometer-thin films are obtained. Protocols for the single-crystalline semiconductors GeSi, InGaAs, InGaP, InP and GaAs, the amorphous semiconductors GaAs, GeSi and InP and the dielectric materials SiO2 and Si3N4 are presented. The removal of the substrate and the ability to stack the thin films yield benefits for EXAFS experiments in transmission as well as in fluorescence mode. Several cases are presented where this improved sample preparation procedure results in higher-quality EXAFS data compared with conventional sample preparation methods. This lift-off procedure can also be advantageous for other experimental techniques (e.g. small-angle X-ray scattering) that benefit from removing undesired contributions from the substrate.

Objective: To evaluate the relationship between the stages of dental formation and the timing of eruption of mandibular second premolars., Materials and Methods: The sample comprised panoramic radiographs of 25 children, 7 to 12 years old, observed by space supervision during development of dentition. The initial radiograph (T1) was taken in the mixed dentition period and the progress radiograph (T2) close to the eruption of mandibular second premolars. The stages of dental formation were determined by the proportion between crown length and total length (CL/TL) as well by the Simpson and Kunos index. Average values between right and left sides (35, 45) were correlated to the time elapsed until dental eruption (T2-T1). Statistical analysis was performed by Pearson correlation analysis., Results: The proportion CL/TL presented higher correlation index with time to eruption than the Simpson and Kunos index. The linear regression equation for prediction of timing of eruption showed high coefficient of determination, low deviation, and good accuracy. According to survival analysis, mean deviation at 95% confidence level was between 3.6 and 6.4 months. There was no difference in contralateral measurements, with high intraclass correlation coefficient for both CL/TL proportion and Simpson and Kunos index., Conclusions: More advanced stages of dental formation indicate less time until dental eruption. The strong correlation with crown length/total length proportion (CL/TL) provides a linear regression equation for prediction of the timing of eruption of mandibular second premolars.

Swift heavy-ion irradiation of elemental metal nanoparticles (NPs) embedded in amorphous SiO(2) induces a spherical to rodlike shape transformation with the direction of NP elongation aligned to that of the incident ion. Large, once-spherical NPs become progressively more rodlike while small NPs below a critical diameter do not elongate but dissolve in the matrix. We examine this shape transformation for ten metals under a common irradiation condition to achieve mechanistic insight into the transformation process. Subtle differences are apparent including the saturation of the elongated NP width at a minimum sustainable, metal-specific value. Elongated NPs of lesser width are unstable and subject to vaporization. Furthermore, we demonstrate the elongation process is governed by the formation of a molten ion-track in amorphous SiO(2) such that upon saturation the elongated NP width never exceeds the molten ion-track diameter.

The vibrational and thermal properties of embedded Pt nanocrystals (NCs) have been investigated with temperature-dependent extended x-ray absorption fine structure (EXAFS) spectroscopy. NCs of diameter 1.8-7.4 nm produced by ion implantation in amorphous SiO(2) were analysed over the temperature range 20-295 K. An increase in Einstein temperature (∼194 K) relative to that of a Pt standard (∼179 K) was evident for the smallest NCs while those larger than ∼2.0 nm exhibited values comparable to bulk material. Similarly, the thermal expansion of interatomic distances was lowest for small NCs. While the amorphous SiO(2) matrix restricted the thermal expansion of interatomic distances, it did not have a significant influence on the mean vibrational frequency of embedded Pt NCs. Instead, the latter was governed by finite-size effects or, specifically, capillary pressure.

Soybean (Glycine max Merr.) is an alternative crop during the summer in Sinaloa, a northern state of Mexico. During the last 4 years, symptoms of yellowing, curled leaves, and stunting have been observed on soybean plantings, and a scrutiny of field samples collected in 2003 identified a begomovirus related to Pepper golden mosaic virus in symptomatic plants (4). A new survey was conducted during the summer of 2004 when the soybean disease was prevalent in the region. Affected plants appeared as patches displaying symptoms ranging from mild to severe yellow mosaic with leaf deformation and stunted growth in several parcels of commercial fields of northern Sinaloa. More than 100 samples from symptomatic soybean plants and weeds growing within the same fields were collected and analyzed for the presence of begomoviruses using DNA hybridization with the coat protein gene of Pepper huasteco yellow vein virus as a probe. Thirty-eight soybean, 12 Rhynchosia sp., and 14 sunflower hybridization-positive samples were subsequently used for polymerase chain reaction (PCR) amplification with the degenerate primers pRep-DGR and pCP70-Mot (1). PCR products were cloned into pGEM-T Easy vector (Promega, Madison, WI) and sequenced. The amplified viral DNA (915 nt) from two soybean plants, Sb1 and Sb2 (GenBank Accession Nos. AY955101 and AY957561, respectively), one isolate from Rhynchosia minima (GenBank Accession No. AY955102), and one from Heliantus annum (GenBank Accession No. AY957560) were sequenced and compared with DNA sequences available at NCBI database using BLAST. The highest sequence similarity was obtained with the two known isolates of Rhynchosia golden mosaic virus, RhGMV [Honduras] (GenBank Accession No. AF239671), and RhGMV [Chiapas] (GenBank Accession No. AF408199), displaying a nucleotide identity of approximately 89% with the Sinaloa isolates. Sequence comparisons of the latter isolates showed that viruses in the weeds were 97% identical to one of the soybean isolates, RhGMV-Sb1, but differed significantly (88% of nucleotide identity) from the second soybean isolate, RhGMV-Sb2. The complete genome A sequence of RhGMV-Sb1 was determined using PCR amplification of viral DNA with four degenerate primers recently described (2), cloning of overlapping PCR products into pGEM-T Easy vector (Promega) and sequencing. The 2,604-bp DNA-A of RhGMV-Sb1 (GenBank Accession No. DQ347950) was compared with the homologous genome of RhGMV [Chiapas] and RhGMV [Honduras] using the CLUSTAL alignment method (MegAlign, DNASTAR software, London) and an overall nucleotide identity of 89.2 and 88.6%, respectively, was determined. Current taxonomic criteria for begomoviruses establish that a DNA-A sequence identity lower than 93% with other isolates of a virus is indicative of a separate strain (3). Therefore, the virus identified in this study is a new strain of RhGMV that is provisionally named Rhynchosia golden mosaic virus-Soybean [Mexico:Sinaloa:2004].
