Background: Unemployment is an obstacle in recovery for people with severe mental illnesses (SMI), both in reducing psychopathological symptoms and in achieving a high quality of life. The aim of this study was to explore the impact of an internship program for people diagnosed with SMI on psychosocial variables using a pre-test and post-test design. Method: Four scales were administered to a sample of 127 study participants, all of whom were diagnosed with SMI. The results of standard and sheltered employment outcomes were obtained by comparing the number and type of contracts gained by participants up to one year after program completion. A repeated measures ANOVA analysis was carried out with intervention being an independent intra-subject variable and type of participant diagnosis being a between-subjects variable. Results: a limited increase in social functioning was found, as well as a significant decrease in psychiatric distress for users diagnosed with personality disorders. Participants in the internship program obtained a greater number of employment contracts than their peers who did not participate in the program, albeit with a low effect size. Conclusions: Though results were positive, extension of internship length and provision of more intensive counselling for participants may be useful.

We have focused on the analyses of the most negative memories of a particular group of doctors related to their work experience. After interviewing 24 professionals of different specialties, their narratives were analyzed using the criteria of specificity, agency, and theme of the memory. Most memories were considered specific as they were vividly remembered with attention to detail. Men have more narratives linked to agency, while the majority of women develop narratives linked to communion. Furthermore, five clearly differentiated topics were observed regarding the professional’s degree of experience. A qualitative analysis of the memories of these professionals, as well as a description of the appropriation process of the discursive features is presented. The dimensions of analysis of the responses included in the Dataset are described in the Coding Manual.

Cross-cultural differences in autobiographical memory (AM) are associated with cultural variations. in models of the self and parental reminiscing style, but not many studies have analysed the relationship between AM and specific cultural practices such as formal schooling. Theoreticians like Greenfield (2009), Kağitçibaşi (2005) and Keller (2007) have considered formal schooling as an engine towards the model of independence; however, the empirical evidence in this regard is inconclusive: while some studies found evidence of a relation between formal schooling and characteristics of AM, others did not. To solve this inconsistency, the present study compared orally narrated childhood memories of Mexican adults with three different levels of education (from rudimentary literacy to university). Results support a relationship between formal schooling and AM in the predicted direction: More educated participants reported longer, more specific and more self-oriented memories than those with less schooling experience did. Some gender differences were also observed, with males generally reporting more individually and less socially oriented memories than females, except for university level participants. We conclude that these results support Greenfield’s theory about formal schooling as a sociocultural factor that promotes the cultural pathway to independence, as well as complexity and context-boundedness of gender differences in AM. Objectives: When considering the personal recovery of people with serious mental illness (SMI), it is essential to examine their reported psychiatric distress and quality of life (QoL). However, there is no consolidated model in the literature that clearly relates these variables. In this study we first analysed the relationships between QoL, psychiatric distress and recovery, and several sociodemographic variables. Second, we analysed the linear effects of psychiatric distress and recovery on QoL. Third, and most important, we tested two hypotheses that considered personal recovery as a moderator or mediator of the relationship between psychiatric distress and QoL. Design and Methods: 234 volunteers with a diagnosis of SMI completed three self-report questionnaires, The Recovery Assessment Scale-24, The World Health Organization QoL and the Clinical Outcomes in Routine Evaluation-Outcome Measure, which showed very good levels of validity and reliability. The PROCESS macro for SPSS developed by Hayes (Introduction to mediation, moderation, and conditional process analysis: A regression-based approach, The Guilford Press, 2022) was applied using the Bootstrap method to verify our moderation and mediation hypotheses. Results: We found a negative linear effect of psychiatric distress on QoL, as well as a positive effect of recovery on said variable. Our results do not confirm the moderating effect of recovery on the relationship between distress and QoL. However, we do confirm the second hypothesis; recovery functioned as a mediating variable between psychiatric distress and QoL. Conclusions: These findings allow us to reflect on how personal recovery affect the relationship between psychiatric distress and QoL and discuss its theoretical and practical implications as public policies.

Estos datos parten del proyecto “Desafíos del Yo: Reconstrucción de las Identidades en Situaciones de Desigualdad y Exclusión Social” (DYRISES, Ref: PSI2016-80112-P), que tiene como objetivo estudiar los procesos de reconstrucción de la identidad de colectivos vulnerables, entre ellos, las personas con trastorno mental grave (SMI). Los datos aquí incluidos pertenecen en concreto a un estudio donde se pretendió 1) analizar la relación entre las variables sociodemográficas y la recuperación personal, distrés psicológico y calidad de vida; 2) analizar los efectos lineales de la recuperación personal y el distrés psicológico sobre la calidad de vida y 3) estudiar si existe moderación y/o moderación de la recuperación personal en la relación entre distrés psicológico y calidad de vida. Participantes: La muestra original constó de 250 participantes, 16 de los cuales fueron excluidos (6,4%) debido a ítems incompletos en variables dependientes o independientes, quedando una muestra final, aquí incluida, de 234. Los criterios de inclusión fueron: un diagnóstico psiquiátrico considerado SMI que condujera a algún grado de discapacidad oficialmente reconocida, causante de dificultades para llevar a cabo las funciones de la vida diaria. Este SMI debía haber sido diagnosticado durante al menos un año. Además, los participantes tenían que estar asistiendo a servicios de salud mental, en particular a servicios especializados de rehabilitación de salud mental o de asesoramiento laboral. Dado que la categoría de SMI se centra en el deterioro grave del funcionamiento, en el análisis de mediación-moderación se incluyó a una minoría de pacientes con diagnósticos distintos de esquizofrenia, trastorno bipolar o trastorno de la personalidad, así como a 39 participantes con datos de diagnóstico ausentes. Toda la muestra tenía un reconocimiento oficial de discapacidad debido a un trastorno psicológico y estaban siendo atendidos por servicios de apoyo especializados. Los criterios de exclusió

Purpose: The concept of recovery has become the backbone of mental health services and professional practices. However, research aimed at analysing the conceptualisation of recovery of people diagnosed with severe mental illness (SMI) has an obvious Anglo-Saxon bias. Our objective was to analyse what a sample of 51 users of mental health services diagnosed with SMI in Spain understand by recovery. Method: The participants were interviewed in depth about their concept of recovery, and their responses were thematically analysed by three observers. Results: Four categories of definitions of the concept of recovery were found in the analysis: Socio-Behavioural, Biomedical, Resistance, and Wellbeing-Growth. Inter-rater reliability scores ranged from 0.7 to 0.84 according to Krippendorff’s alpha. While the Biomedical category essentially corresponded to the idea of clinical recovery, the Wellbeing-Growth category reproduced the concept of personal recovery (PR) that is dominant in the literature. The most frequent categories were Socio-Behavioural and Biomedical. Assimilation of the PR concept by participants was quite limited. The markedly relational character of the most frequent categories challenges the individualistic core of the classic definition of PR. Conclusions: We advocate the need to make alternative recovery concepts and narratives visible to the mental health services’ users and practitioners.

To develop this methodological proposal, it has been taken into account the performative aspects of social interaction in which narratives are constructed. The methodology has previously been used in other health contexts and is innovative in the field of mental health. Linguistic criteria, definitions, and multiple examples are included to facilitate its application, as well as some reflections about its potential and possible benefits., Los trastornos mentales graves (TMG) en general, y la esquizofrenia en particular, se han caracterizado como alteraciones de la experiencia del yo y de la identidad. Cuando se diagnostica por primera vez con TMG, las experiencias subjetivas y los desafíos narrativos específicos que enfrenta esta población son particularmente importantes. Por tanto, conviene desarrollar enfoques cualitativos que permitan analizar estas experiencias subjetivas. Este artículo presenta en detalle un método específico, denominado Social Positioning Analysis, que permite comprender la complejidad de las narrativas e historias de vida con múltiples puntos de inflexión. Corporate Social Responsibility is understood as the way to act responsibly on the part of an organization towards its stakeholders or interest groups. This variable has been investigated for generating value in companies through intangible assets, such as the Corporate reputation that refers to the perception of groups about companies. Despite the extensive research activity, no review was found that systematically analyzed their relationship inthe different publications. For this reason, the development of this investigation became necessary to study the effect that corporate social responsibility could have on reputation. Through a quantitative methodology, nineteen empirical articles were analyzed, demonstrating a direct and positive relationship between both variables in which other mediating variables such as transparency, age, brand confidence, and external environments, amongothers, have been detected., Responsabilidade social corporativa se entende como a forma responsável de atuação de uma organização para com seus stakeholders ou grupos de interesse. Esta variável tem sido objeto de investigação por gerar valor nas empresas através de ativos intangíveis, como a reputação corporativa, que faz referência à percepção dos grupos sobre a companhia. Apesar da ampla pesquisa realizada, não se encontrou nenhuma revisão que tenha analisadosistematicamente sua relação nas diferentes publicações acessadas. Por este motivo, se fez necessário o desenvolvimento da presente pesquisa, para estudar o efeito que a responsabilidade social corporativa possa ter sobre a reputação. La obra que se presenta es producto de la celebración de dos certámenes ("II Concurso Narrativa y Psicología" y "I Concurso de Poesía Psyche en versos") promovidos por la Facultad de Psicología de la Universidad de Sevilla. Los concursos se celebraron durante el periodo de confinamiento domicilia decretado durante la pandemia de SARS-COV-2 entre marzo y mayo de 2020 y estuvieron abiertos para todo el alumnado de la US. El libro está conformado por los 10 poemas y los 10 relatos que resultaron galardonados, que van precedidos por un breve prólogo sobre el papel de las artes en nuestra salud. La temática de las obras ganadoras, que han sido ilustradas específicamente para esta edición por estudiantes de la Facultad de Bellas Artes, es muy diversa: enfermedad y salud, amor, relaciones, etc.

En el presente estudio se analizan las competencias básicas digitales de 759 estudiantes universitarios de la Universidad Pablo de Olavide de siete cursos académicos (2012/13 a 2018/19). Los datos fueron recogidos mediante el cuestionario denominado “Competencias básicas digitales 2.0 de estudiantes universitarios” COBADI® (Marca registrada: 2970648). El análisis estadístico utilizando el SPSS describió cómo los estudiantes usan las tecnologías. Se analizaron género y diferencias de los cursos a través de un análisis múltiple de variación (MANOVA) como las variables independientes, y contestaciones a la encuesta como dependiente. Entre los resultados obtenidos se infieren que más de la mitad de los estudiantes encuestados dijeron que se conectaban más de 9 horas a la semana. A su vez, se constata un relevante y gradual cambio en los últimos años en cuanto al lugar de conexión a internet, desde el hogar como el principal lugar de conexión al teléfono móvil como medio más frecuente. Por último, como otro hallazgo significativo, es que en los hombres se refleja una disminución en el tiempo dedicado a realizar tareas académicas y un aumento en el tiempo dedicado a jugar., In this study, we analyze the basic digital skills of 759 university students of the Pablo de Olavide University of seven academic courses (2012/13 to 2018/19). The data were collected through the questionnaire called “Basic digital skills 2.0 of university students” COBADI® (Registered trademark: 2970648). The statistical analysis using the SPSS described how students use technologies and how they use them. Gender and course differences were analyzed through a multiple variation analysis (MANOVA) as independent variables and responses to the survey as pending. Among the results obtained, it is inferred that more than half of the students surveyed said that they connected more than 9 hours a week. At the same time there is a significant and gradual change in recent years in terms of the place of internet connection, from home as the main place of connection to the mobile phone as the most frequent means. Finally, as another significant finding, it is that in men there is a decrease in the time devoted to academic tasks and an increase in the time spent playing.
