Abstract

Talent management (TM) necessitates both quantitative and qualitative skills; it is a determining factor in organisational success, including in university institutions. A team member's position in an organisation was closely related to TM. Artificial intelligence (AI) technology, such as an expert system, has also influenced human resource management. As well as to help human experts in TM, especially for academic staff TM, this study proposed a mobile app expert system called "ASTMES". This research method was used the certainty factor method with a forward-chaining inference machine, then programmed onto Android-based app with waterfall-SDLC technique. The result shown as ASTMES can categorise talent criteria: insufficient talent (99.7450 %), good talent (99.9942 %), and potential talent (99.9908 %), with a percentage of confidence level, respectively. Abstract

This study investigated the utilization of bamboo leaf waste and two varieties of bacterial sources, chicken manure and effective microorganism, in a microbial fuel cell (MFC) at three substrate concentrations (40 g/liter, 80 g/liter, and 160 g/liter). The primary objective was to investigate the kinetics of bacterial growth at various substrate concentrations in the MFC, as well as the effect of light conditions and pH on MFC power generation. The MFC had dual chambers with graphite electrodes serving as the cathode and anode. Within 72 h, the highest power density of 90.05 mV was attained using the highest substrate concentration of bamboo leaf waste and chicken manure during the logarithmic growth phase, albeit with a shorter duration. The longest sustained phase of bacterial activity was observed during the stationary phase, at the highest substrate concentration of 160 g/liter, followed by 80 g/liter and 40 g/liter. These results indicate that the logarithmic phase is the optimal time for bacterial activity in the MFC. However, attaining long-term stability in power generation in the logarithmic phase requires careful parameter optimization.

Abstract

Porous magnesium is one of the materials that can be used as a bulk bone implant (Scaffold) because it can be used in human body tissues and is biodegradable, non-toxic and resembles natural bones. The shape of the pore in magnesium with interconnections that resemble the original bone is a challenge in the manufacture of porous magnesium for bone scaffold material. Therefore, research activities to make porous magnesium using Titanium Wire Space Holder (TWSH) with a semi-solid process to produce bone scaffold material that is biodegradable. The process carried out in this study is to compact and sinter the powder magnesium material with titanium wire using a squeeze casting tool in a semi-solid process, then dissolved using a solution of hydro fluoride acid to form porous magnesium. The tests performed are corrosion rate, density and porosity, hardness and SEM-EDX. This study succeeded in fabricating porous magnesium, which has the potential to be a bone scaffold material where the variation of the test material that approaches bone properties is a specimen with a sintering temperature of 570 °C with composition of Ti:Mg=2:3. Abstract

The aim of this study was to investigate the generation of electricity in a microbial fuel cell (MFC) using coconut waste as substrate with various compositions. Different types of substrate with different pH values were tested in dual-chamber MFC. The maximum voltage level reached 699mV under alkaline condition after day 7th, which was considerably higher than those previously reported in literature using solid waste substrates. The series connection of the coconut waste MFC with boost converter module showed the ability to light up the bulb. Abstract

Penggunaan lahan secara umum dipengaruhi oleh beberapa faktor salah satunya untuk komoditas pertanian. Penggunaan lahan untuk pertanian sangat bergantung pada bagaimana kita melakukan pengawasan dan pemeliharaan, pengendalian hama, dan monitoring lahan selama proses pertanian berlangsung. Hal ini akan berpengaruh terhadap produktivitas pertanian. Pola tanam pada pertanian memerlukan teknik pemetaan yang direncanakan secara matang. Pemetaan dapat dilakukan dengan sistem otomatis yang memanfaatkan sensor. Penggunaan sensor untuk smart-farm sangat beragam, salah satunya dapat diterapkan untuk sistem kontrol smart-farm. Metode penelitian menggunakan metode SDLC waterfall. Hasil penelitian berupa sistem kontrol pemetaan lahan pertanian untuk produksi tanam hingga proses pasca panen dikontrol dengan sistem kontrol yang terdiri atas beberapa sensor-sensor pendukung dan menggunakan modul NodeMCU serta sistem dapat diimplementasi pada platform Android OS.

Abstract

Energy is something that people need every day. One of the energies that are glorified to meet people's energy needs is electrical energy. The need for electrical energy in Indonesia continues to increase in line with economic growth and the increasing population. One of the components of electric power that is useful for delivering electric current to transmission networks is a substation. With the feasibility of techno-economic, it is possible to know the feasibility of the quality of an electric power system based on financial analysis. This paper provides a mini-review of the techno-economy of substation electricity and its maintenance in several regions in Indonesia today. The research stages consist of literature study, identification of article titles, article abstract screening, complete article selection, and mini-review reviews. Several studies are still not widely applied to the calculation of the cost of energy consumption to customers. In addition, the basic cost of providing electricity, the profit from electricity sales, and the payback period method need to be improved in research related to the techno-economic analysis of electrical energy. It is important to do this to determine the potential feasibility and the estimated advantages and disadvantages of an electric power system.

Abstract

Electroplating uses aluminum material, where it’s easy to obtain, lighter, and cheaper than other metals. The research goal was to determine the ability of the electric current to power aluminum (Al) coated with silver (Ag) by the electroplating method, to determine the effect of the magnitude of the electric current and the length of time the coating process took on the weight of Al coated with Ag and to determine the strength of the metal Al after tested using Brinnell test. The method used is to compare pure Al and pure Al coated with Ag by electroplating at different currents to determine the effect of the electroplating process. A Brinnell test was carried out to determine the hardness of the Al material after electroplating. The results are the amount of current that flows during the electroplating is directly proportional to the thickness of the electroplating layer attached to the Al surface. If the electroplating process uses a large current, the attached layer will look rough and not smooth, which also affects the material testing by using the Brinnell method. The Brinnell test proves that the hardness value of the Al material is directly proportional to the thickness of the layer.

Abstract

Lightning activity correlates with the formation of thunderclouds which increase the atmospheric electric field (AEF) between the cloud and the earth. Observations of the development of the AEF will allow the prediction of lightning activities close to a particular location. In research and development, the data logger plays an important role to observe and collect data from AEF sensors. The data logger must be reliable and effective. High investment costs are involved in acquiring a data logger, and choosing a suitable data logger is not easy. Institut Voltan dan Arus Tinggi (IVAT) is develeloping AEF sensor. Along with that sensor development a data logger development is also required. In this paper, a mobile data logger is developed by using Arduino-Uno. This mobile data logger is equipped with a GPS module, which provides accurate positioning in the collection of data. Abstract

Rotating-vane electric field mill (REFM) sensor is one of the popular methods to measure atmospheric quasi-static electric field. Lightning incident occasion can be predicted by observing electric fields strength in atmosphere. In this paper an integration of REFM with an online wireless data monitoring system for long distance observation and data collection is presented. This method reduces the required man-hour to gather data from the REFM as well as system costs by removing the computer and data logger on-site. The development includes hardware and software design in order to improve efficiency the atmospheric electric field measurement system. The contribution of this work is the design of the electronic circuit which converts the ac signal from the REFM sensor to dc signal and then correlates the signal to the electric field strength in the vicinity. Subsequently the information is transmitted via a wireless data transmission system, using the Global System Mobile Communication (GSM) network.
