This paper analyzes a downlink C-NOMA scenario where a base station (BS) is deployed to serve a pair of users equipped with movable antenna (MA) technology. The user with better channel conditions with the BS will be able to transmit the signal to the other user providing an extra transmission resource and enhancing performance. Both users are equipped with a receiving MA each and a transmitting MA for the relaying user. In this regard, we formulate an optimization problem with the objective of maximizing the achievable sum rate by jointly determining the beamforming vector at the BS, the transmit power at the device and the positions of the MAs while meeting the quality of service (QoS) constraints. Due to the non-convex structure of the formulated problem and the randomness in the channels we adopt a deep deterministic policy gradient (DDPG) approach, a reinforcement learning (RL) algorithm capable of dealing with continuous state and action spaces. Numerical results demonstrate the superiority of the presented model compared to the other benchmark schemes showing gains reaching 45% compared to the NOMA enabled MA scheme and 60% compared to C-NOMA model with fixed antennas. The solution approach showed 93% accuracy compared to the optimal solution.

The exponential growth of the mobile app market underscores the importance of constant innovation and rapid response to user demands. As user satisfaction is paramount to the success of a mobile application (app), developers typically rely on user reviews, which represent user feedback that includes ratings and comments to identify areas for improvement. However, the sheer volume of user reviews poses challenges in manual analysis, necessitating automated approaches. Existing automated approaches either analyze only the target apps reviews, neglecting the comparison of similar features to competitors or fail to provide suggestions for feature enhancement. To address these gaps, we propose a Large Language Model (LLM)-based Competitive User Review Analysis for Feature Enhancement) (LLM-Cure), an approach powered by LLMs to automatically generate suggestion s for mobile app feature improvements. More specifically, LLM-Cure identifies and categorizes features within reviews by applying LLMs. When provided with a complaint in a user review, LLM-Cure curates highly rated (4 and 5 stars) reviews in competing apps related to the complaint and proposes potential improvements tailored to the target application. We evaluate LLM-Cure on 1,056,739 reviews of 70 popular Android apps. Our evaluation demonstrates that LLM-Cure significantly outperforms the state-of-the-art approaches in assigning features to reviews by up to 13% in F1-score, up to 16% in recall and up to 11% in precision. Additionally, LLM-Cure demonstrates its capability to provide suggestions for resolving user complaints. We verify the suggestions using the release notes that reflect the changes of features in the target mobile app. LLM-Cure achieves a promising average of 73% of the implementation of the provided suggestions., Comment: 25 pages

This paper investigates joint user pairing, power and time slot duration allocation in the uplink multiple-input single-output (MISO) multi-user cooperative rate-splitting multiple access (C-RSMA) networks in half-duplex (HD) mode. We assume two types of users: cell-center users (CCU) and cell-edge users (CEU); first, we propose a user pairing scheme utilizing a semi-orthogonal user selection (SUS) and a matching-game (MG)-based approach where the SUS algorithm is used to select CCU in each pair which assists in reducing inter-pair interference (IPI). Afterward, the CEU in each pair is selected by considering the highest channel gain between CCU and CEU. After pairing is performed, the communication takes place in two phases: in the first phase, in a given pair, CEUs broadcast their signal, which is received by the base station (BS) and CCUs. In the second phase, in a given pair, the CCU decodes the signal from its paired CEU, superimposes its own signal, and transmits it to the BS. We formulate a joint optimization problem in order to maximize the sum rate subject to the constraints of the power budget of the user equipment (UE) and Quality of Service (QoS) requirements at each UE. Since the formulated optimization problem is non-convex, we adopt a bi-level optimization to make the problem tractable. We decompose the original problem into two sub-problems: the user pairing sub-problem and the resource allocation sub-problem where user pairing sub-problem is independent of resource allocation sub-problem and once pairs are identified, resource allocation sub-problem is solved for a given pair. Resource allocation sub-problem is solved by invoking a successive convex approximation (SCA)-based approach. Simulation results demonstrate that the proposed SUS-MG-based algorithm with SCA outperforms other conventional schemes.

This paper explores downlink Cooperative Rate-Splitting Multiple Access (C-RSMA) in a multi-cell wireless network with the assistance of Joint-Transmission Coordinated Multipoint (JT-CoMP). In this network, each cell consists of a base station (BS) equipped with multiple antennas, one or more cell-center users (CCU), and multiple cell-edge users (CEU) located at the edge of the cells. Through JT-CoMP, all the BSs collaborate to simultaneously transmit the data to all the users including the CCUs and CEUs. To enhance the signal quality for the CEUs, CCUs relay the common stream to the CEUs by operating in either half-duplex (HD) or full-duplex (FD) decode-and-forward (DF) relaying mode. In this setup, we aim to jointly optimize the beamforming vectors at the BS, the allocation of common stream rates, the transmit power at relaying users, i.e., CCUs, and the time slot fraction, aiming to maximize the minimum achievable data rate. However, the formulated optimization problem is non-convex and is challenging to solve directly. To address this challenge, we employ change-of-variables, first-order Taylor approximations, and a low-complexity algorithm based on Successive Convex Approximation (SCA). We demonstrate through simulation results the efficacy of the proposed scheme, in terms of average achievable data rate, and we compare its performance to that of four baseline schemes, including HD/FD cooperative non-orthogonal multiple access (C-NOMA), NOMA, and RSMA without user cooperation. The results show that the proposed FD C-RSMA can achieve 25% over FD C-NOMA and the proposed HD C-RSMA can achieve 19% over HD C-NOMA respectively, when the BS transmit power is 20 dBm., Comment: 14 pages

Dynamic metasurface antennas (DMAs) represent a novel transceiver array architecture for extremely large-scale (XL) communications, offering the advantages of reduced power consumption and lower hardware costs compared to conventional arrays. This paper focuses on near-field channel estimation for XL-DMAs. We begin by analyzing the near-field characteristics of uniform planar arrays (UPAs) and introducing the Oblong Approx. model. This model decouples elevation-azimuth (EL-AZ) parameters for XL-DMAs, providing an effective means to characterize the near-field effect. It offers simpler mathematical expressions than the second-order Taylor expansion model, all while maintaining negligible model errors for oblong-shaped arrays. Building on the Oblong Approx. model, we propose an EL-AZ-decoupled estimation framework that involves near- and far-field parameter estimation for AZ/EL and EL/AZ directions, respectively. The former is formulated as a distributed compressive sensing problem, addressed using the proposed off-grid distributed orthogonal least squares algorithm, while the latter involves a straightforward parallelizable search. Crucially, we illustrate the viability of decoupled EL-AZ estimation for near-field UPAs, exhibiting commendable performance and linear complexity correlated with the number of metasurface elements. Moreover, we design an measurement matrix optimization method with the Lorentzian constraint on DMAs and highlight the estimation performance degradation resulting from this constraint.

The ~200 m/s impact of a single 400-kg Bjurb\"ole L/LL ordinary chondrite meteorite onto sea ice resulted in the catastrophic disruption of the projectile. This resulted in a significant fraction of decimeter-sized fragments that exhibit power law cumulative size and mass distributions. This size range is underrepresented in impact experiments and asteroid boulder studies. The Bjurb\"ole projectile fragments share similarities in shape (sphericity, and roughness at small and large scale) with asteroid boulders. However, the mean aspect ratio (3D measurement) and apparent aspect ratio (2D measurement) of Bjurb\"ole fragment is 0.83 and 0.77, respectively, indicating that Bjurb\"ole fragments are more equidimensional compared to both fragments produced in smaller scale impact experiments and asteroid boulders. These differences may be attributed either to the fragment source (projectile vs. target), to the high porosity and low strength of Bjurb\"ole, to the lower impact velocity compared with typical asteroid collision velocities, or potentially to fragment erosion during sea sediment penetration or cleaning., Comment: Data repository https://www.doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.10062980

The simulation of lattice gauge theories on quantum computers necessitates digitizing gauge fields. One approach involves substituting the continuous gauge group with a discrete subgroup, but the implications of this approximation still need to be clarified. To gain insights, we investigate the subduction of $ SU(2) $ and $ SU(3)$ to discrete crystal-like subgroups. Using classical lattice calculations, we show that subduction offers valuable information based on subduced direct sums, helping us identify additional terms to incorporate into the lattice action that can mitigate the effects of digitization. Furthermore, we compute the static potentials of all irreducible representations of $ \Sigma(360 \times 3) $ at a fixed lattice spacing. Our results reveal a percent-level agreement with the Casimir scaling of ( SU(3) ) for irreducible representations that subduce to a single $ \Sigma(360 \times 3) $ irreducible representation. This provides a diagnostic measure of approximation quality, as some irreducible representations closely match the expected results while others exhibit significant deviations., Comment: 14 pages, 3 figures, additional references

A dual-robust design of beamforming is investigated in an integrated sensing and communication (ISAC) system.Existing research on robust ISAC waveform design, while proposing solutions to imperfect channel state information (CSI), generally depends on prior knowledge of the target's approximate location to design waveforms. This approach, however, limits the precision in sensing the target's exact location. In this paper, considering both CSI imperfection and target location uncertainty, a novel framework of joint robust optimization is proposed by maximizing the weighted sum of worst-case data rate and beampattern gain. To address this challenging problem, we propose an efficient two-layer iteration algorithm based on S-Procedure and convex hull. Finally, numerical results verify the effectiveness and performance improvement of our dual-robust algorithm, as well as the trade-off between communication and sensing performance.

This paper investigates flexible beamforming design in an integrated sensing and communication (ISAC) network with movable antennas (MAs). A bistatic radar system is integrated into a multi-user multiple-input-single-output (MU-MISO) system, with the base station (BS) equipped with MAs. This enables array response reconfiguration by adjusting the positions of antennas. Thus, a joint beamforming and antenna position optimization problem, namely flexible beamforming, is proposed to maximize communication rate and sensing mutual information (MI). The fractional programming (FP) method is adopted to transform the non-convex objective function, and we alternatively update the beamforming matrix and antenna positions. Karush-Kuhn-Tucker (KKT) conditions are employed to derive the close-form solution of the beamforming matrix, while we propose an efficient search-based projected gradient ascent (SPGA) method to update the antenna positions. Simulation results demonstrate that MAs significantly enhance the ISAC performance when employing our proposed algorithm, achieving a 59.8% performance gain compared to fixed uniform arrays.

Deep Learning (DL) frameworks play a critical role in advancing artificial intelligence, and their rapid growth underscores the need for a comprehensive understanding of software quality and maintainability. DL frameworks, like other systems, are prone to code clones. Code clones refer to identical or highly similar source code fragments within the same project or even across different projects. Code cloning can have positive and negative implications for software development, influencing maintenance, readability, and bug propagation. In this paper, we aim to address the knowledge gap concerning the evolutionary dimension of code clones in DL frameworks and the extent of code reuse across these frameworks. We empirically analyze code clones in nine popular DL frameworks, i.e., TensorFlow, Paddle, PyTorch, Aesara, Ray, MXNet, Keras, Jax and BentoML, to investigate (1) the characteristics of the long-term code cloning evolution over releases in each framework, (2) the short-term, i.e., within-release, code cloning patterns and their influence on the long-term trends, and (3) the file-level code clones within the DL frameworks. Our findings reveal that DL frameworks adopt four distinct cloning trends and that these trends present some common and distinct characteristics. For instance, bug-fixing activities persistently happen in clones irrespective of the clone evolutionary trend but occur more in the "Serpentine" trend. Moreover, the within release level investigation demonstrates that short-term code cloning practices impact long-term cloning trends. The cross-framework code clone investigation reveals the presence of functional and architectural adaptation file-level cross-framework code clones across the nine studied frameworks. As Artificial Intelligence (AI) making advancements in medical decision-making, there is a growing need to ensure doctors develop appropriate reliance on AI to avoid adverse outcomes. However, existing methods in enabling appropriate AI reliance might encounter challenges while being applied in the medical domain. With this regard, this work employs and provides the validation of an alternative approach -- majority voting -- to facilitate appropriate reliance on AI in medical decision-making. This is achieved by a multi-institutional user study involving 32 medical professionals with various backgrounds, focusing on the pathology task of visually detecting a pattern, mitoses, in tumor images. Here, the majority voting process was conducted by synthesizing decisions under AI assistance from a group of pathology doctors (pathologists). Two metrics were used to evaluate the appropriateness of AI reliance: Relative AI Reliance (RAIR) and Relative Self-Reliance (RSR). Results showed that even with groups of three pathologists, majority-voted decisions significantly increased both RAIR and RSR -- by approximately 9% and 31%, respectively -- compared to decisions made by one pathologist collaborating with AI. This increased appropriateness resulted in better precision and recall in the detection of mitoses. Quantum networks (QNs) relying on free-space optical (FSO) quantum channels can support quantum applications in environments wherein establishing an optical fiber infrastructure is challenging and costly. However, FSO-based QNs require a clear line-of-sight (LoS) between users, which is challenging due to blockages and natural obstacles. In this paper, a reconfigurable intelligent surface (RIS)-assisted FSO-based QN is proposed as a cost-efficient framework providing a virtual LoS between users for entanglement distribution. A novel modeling of the quantum noise and losses experienced by quantum states over FSO channels defined by atmospheric losses, turbulence, and pointing errors is derived. Then, the joint optimization of entanglement distribution and RIS placement problem is formulated, under heterogeneous entanglement rate and fidelity constraints. This problem is solved using a simulated annealing metaheuristic algorithm. Simulation results show that the proposed framework effectively meets the minimum fidelity requirements of all users' quantum applications. This is in stark contrast to baseline algorithms that lead to a drop of at least 83% in users' end-to-end fidelities. The proposed framework also achieves a 64% enhancement in the fairness level between users compared to baseline rate maximizing frameworks. Although multi-access edge computing (MEC) has allowed for computation offloading at the network edge, weak wireless signals in the radio access network caused by obstacles and high network load are still preventing efficient edge computation offloading, especially for user requests with stringent latency and reliability requirements. Intelligent reflective surfaces (IRS) have recently emerged as a technology capable of enhancing the quality of the signals in the radio access network, where passive reflecting elements can be tuned to improve the uplink or downlink signals. Harnessing the IRS's potential in enhancing the performance of edge computation offloading, in this paper, we study the optimized use of a system of multi-IRS along with the design of the offloading (to an edge with multi MECs) and resource allocation parameters for the purpose of minimizing the devices' energy consumption considering 5G services with stringent latency and reliability requirements. After presenting our non-convex mathematical problem, we propose a suboptimal solution based on alternating optimization where we divide the problem into sub-problems which are then solved separately. Specifically, the offloading decision is solved through a matching game algorithm, and then the IRS phase shifts and resource allocation optimizations are solved in an alternating fashion using the Difference of Convex approach. The obtained results demonstrate the gains both in energy and network resources and highlight the IRS's influence on the design of the MEC parameters.

This work presents an investigation and assessment framework, which, supported by realistic data, aims at provisioning operators with in-depth insights into the consumer-perceived Quality-of-Experience (QoE) at public Electric Vehicle (EV) charging infrastructures. Motivated by the unprecedented EV market growth, it is suspected that the existing charging infrastructure will soon be no longer capable of sustaining the rapidly growing charging demands; let alone that the currently adopted ad hoc infrastructure expansion strategies seem to be far from contributing any quality service sustainability solutions that tangibly reduce (ultimately mitigate) the severity of this problem. Without suitable QoE metrics, operators, today, face remarkable difficulty in assessing the performance of EV Charging Stations (EVCSs) in this regard. This paper aims at filling this gap through the formulation of novel and original critical QoE performance metrics that provide operators with visibility into the per-EVCS operational dynamics and allow for the optimization of these stations' respective utilization. Such metrics shall then be used as inputs to a Machine Learning model finely tailored and trained using recent real-world data sets for the purpose of forecasting future long-term EVCS loads. This will, in turn, allow for making informed optimal EV charging infrastructure expansions that will be capable of reliably coping with the rising EV charging demands and maintaining acceptable QoE levels. Tetraquarks, bound states composed of two quarks and two antiquarks, have been the subject of intense study but are challenging to understand from first principles. We apply variational and Green's function Monte Carlo methods to compute tetraquark ground-state energies in potential nonrelativistic QCD using a wide range of color and spatial wavefunctions. We find no evidence for bound tetraquarks composed of equal-mass quarks and antiquarks. Conversely, we find clear evidence for the existence of bound tetraquarks for sufficiently unequal quark/antiquark mass ratios at all overall mass scales where our effective theory results are applicable. We predict the critical mass ratios for bound state formation and study tetraquark bound states' spatial and color structure at leading order and next-to-leading order in potential nonrelativistic QCD., Comment: 17 pages, 13 figures. Due to growing environmental concerns, the world's governments have been encouraging the shift of the transportation sector towards the adoption of Electric Vehicles (EVs). As a result, EV numbers have been growing exponentially and are expected to continue growing further which will add a large EV charging load to the power grid. To this end, this paper presents an EV-based defense mechanism against Load-Altering (LA) attacks targeting the grid. The developed mechanism utilizes H-infinity controllers and Linear Matrix Inequalities (LMIs) to mitigate LA attacks. After the controller synthesis and presentation of the attack scenarios, we demonstrate the effectiveness and success of our defense mechanism against the three known types of LA attacks. The scenarios include three 800 MW LA attacks against the New England 39-bus grid. In this letter, a weighted minimum mean square error (WMMSE) empowered integrated sensing and communication (ISAC) system is investigated. One transmitting base station and one receiving wireless access point are considered to serve multiple users a sensing target. Based on the theory of mutual-information (MI), communication MI and sensing MI rate are utilized as the performance metrics under the presence of clutters. In particular, we propose an novel MI-based WMMSE-ISAC method by developing a unique transceiver design mechanism to maximize the weighted sensing and communication sum-rate of this system. Such a maximization process is achieved by utilizing the classical method -- WMMSE, aiming to better manage the effect of sensing clutters and the interference among users. Numerical results show the effectiveness of our proposed method, and the performance trade-off between sensing and communication is also validated.

Due to the growing threat of climate change, the worlds governments have been encouraging the adoption of Electric Vehicles (EVs). As a result, EV numbers have been growing exponentially which will introduce a large EV charging load into the power grid. On this basis, we present a scheme to utilize EVs as a defense mechanism to mitigate Load-Altering (LA) attacks against the grid. The developed scheme relies on robust control theory and Linear Matrix Inequalities (LMIs). Our EV-based defense mechanism is formulated as a feedback controller synthesized using H-2 and H-infinity control techniques to eliminate the impact of unknown LA attacks. The controller synthesis considers the grid topology and the uncertainties of the EV connection to the grid. To demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed mitigation scheme, it is tested against three types of LA attacks on the New England 39-bus grid. We test our mitigation scheme against 800 MW static, switching, and dynamic attacks in the presence of multiple sources of uncertainty that can affect the EV load during deployment.
