The aging of the world population and the increase in chronic diseases have increased the need for palliative care. The aim of palliative care is to relieve and alleviate pain and other symptoms, to meet the needs of the patient and their caregivers according to their individual needs and to increase the quality of life. It is the important responsibility of the professional health team to eliminate the problems of patients and caregivers who are coping with a serious illness. During the palliative care service, which starts as soon as the individual is diagnosed with the disease, it is expected that the healthcare team will support the patient and their families, evaluate them comprehensively with a holistic perspective and support them to maintain their well-being. Palliative care service continues with the elimination of the problems of caregivers during the post-death mourning process. Members of the palliative care team must be qualified about palliative care so that care and treatment are at the desired level. In the field of palliative care, where education and clinical experience are important, evaluating the knowledge of health professionals about palliative care with valid and reliable measurement tools will increase the quality of palliative care. Although the number of measurement tools evaluating palliative care information is increasing, there are limited, valid and reliable measurement tools to measure palliative care information in our country., Dünya nüfusunun giderek yaşlanması, kronik hastalıklardaki artış palyatif bakıma olan ihtiyacı arttırmıştır. Ciddi hastalıkla baş eden hasta birey ve bakım verenlerinin sıkıntılarının giderilmesi profesyonel sağlık ekibinin önemli sorumluluğudur. Birey, hastalık tanısını alır almaz başlayan palyatif bakım hizmeti boyunca sağlık ekibinin, hasta birey ve ailesine destek olması, bütüncül bakış açısı ile kapsamlı bir şekilde değerlendirip iyilik hallerini sürdürmelerini desteklemesi beklenmektedir. Ölüm sonrası yas sürecinde bakım verenlerin sıkıntılarının giderilmesi ile palyatif bakım hizmeti devam etmektedir. Palyatif bakım ekibinin üyeleri, bakım ve tedavinin istenilen düzeyde olması için palyatif bakım hakkında nitelikli olmalıdır. Eğitim ve klinik deneyimin önemli olduğu palyatif bakım alanında, sağlık profesyonellerinin palyatif bakım hakkında bilgilerinin geçerli ve güvenilir ölçüm araçları ile değerlendirilmesi palyatif bakımın kalitesini arttıracaktır. Palyatif bakım bilgisini değerlendiren ölçüm araçlarının sayısı artmakla beraber ülkemizde palyatif bakım bilgisini ölçmeye yönelik sınırlı, geçerli ve güvenilir ölçüm araçlarına rastlanmaktadır.

Aim: This study aimed to compare the perceptions and working experiences of two age cohorts of nurses' about care of older people. Material and Methods: A qualitative descriptive study was used. The research sample consisted of 68 internal medicine and surgery nurses representing X and Y generations. Data were collected using a demographic form and a semi-structured interview form. Data were subjected to thematic analysis. Results: The general themes for generation X were: care time, emotional responses, and provide resources for older patients. The general themes for generation Y were: increasing workload and time problems, categorization of older people, and finally, the need for holistic care. Conclusions: All nurses experienced that caring for elderly is difficult. However, they emphasized the needs of older people. This may be an essential component in organizing older people care. It is recommended regulation of working conditions to reduce the difficulties experienced by nurses in care of older people.

Objective:Nurses spend most of their time with patients. Stories are the formation of experiences that add meaning to life, raise awareness, and guide people. This study aimed to examine the aforementioned concepts from the nurses’ narratives.Methods:The researchers undertook an elaborate review of quantitative and qualitative studies. Seven doctoral students in nursing and 10 nurses from different departments in Palestinian hospitals were interviewed about qualitative care. In this study, 17 health stories from Turkey and Palestine were analyzed. Demographic data of all 17 participants were synthesized using a descriptive statistical format. The 17 stories generated 31,657 words for analysis.Results:Seven themes were identified as figural across clinical specialties, including patient’s final moments are difficult, cases involving children, violence and troublesome patients, unforgettable events, intricacies, interrogative, individual and teamwork.Conclusion:Nurses’ work environments are challenging. Sometimes, they experience unforgettable events that leave permanent marks in their memories. These events create physical distress, which affects how they provide care to patients. If the challenges are solved, then the nurses’ quality of life and satisfaction will improve, enabling them to offer optimum care to patients.

Objective:In this study, it was aimed to evaluate the knowledge level of the nursing students and clinical nurses who have applied the clinical practice related to hemogivigilance.Methods:This research was comparative and cross-sectional in design. The measurement tool consisted of two parts in the collection of research data. The first part included the demographic variables, and the second part consisted of “hemovigilance information index” created by the researcher. The sample was completed with 146 nursing students and 137 clinical nurses working in the hospital for clinical practice, who volunteered to participate in the research. Aim: This qualitative study was conducted to determine the problems experienced by patients with chronic diseases and their caregivers during the home care process from nursing students' perspectives. Methods: Phenomenological method of qualitative research was used in the study. Data was gathered via in-depth interviews with seven nursing students who had a family member with chronic disease. Students were asked about the problems they and their family members experienced during the home care process with a semi-structured questionnaire. Data obtained from the interviews were analyzed using content analysis. Results: As a result of thematic analysis, problems experienced by the patients with chronic diseases and their caregivers during the home care process are grouped under five main themes. These problems were physical problems, social problems, financial problems, psychological problems, and treatment-related problems. Conclusion: This research revealed that the home care process of patients with chronic diseases causes various problems for both patients and their caregivers. Therefore, it is necessary to be aware of these problems, increase the quality of home care services and ensure the continuity of home care. Job-related satisfaction has the likelihood of improving care provided by nurses within the health settings. Nurses’ job satisfaction is likely to boost quality healthcare services and their commitment level. Several factors inform the job satisfaction of nurses, such as fair promotion opportunities, retention, and fringe benefits. The study aimed to explore the main factors impacting medical-surgical nurses' job satisfaction. The existing literature revealed that work satisfaction among nurses is affected by a number of aspects. A systematic review of studies was conducted. A total of (n=40) studies were eligible for inclusion. Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) guidelines were used to report and examine the eligibility of various studies. The systematic review indicated the factors could be classified into four categories, including extrinsic, intrinsic, personal, and community factors. The extrinsic factors include working conditions, work environment, supervisor/management, burnout, work engagement, and mobbing/bullying. The main intrinsic factors were found to include professionalism and career identity. Personal factors included marital status, age, and level of education, whereas economic status was found to be the only community factor influencing the satisfaction of medical-surgical nurses. The main factors influencing medical-surgical nurses include extrinsic, intrinsic, personal, and community.

Aging population is a worldwide phenomenon and the elderly population is also increasing dramatically in the world. Ageism attitudes of health science faculty students are important for this reason. This study is conducted to determine the relationship between the ageism and Cross-cultural sensitivity levels of university students. The study was cross-sectional and the data were collected from January to February 2019. In collection of the data, Socio-demographics and Attitude. Towards Elderly Data Form, Positive and Negative Ageism Scale and Cross-cultural Sensitivity Scale were used. The mean age of the participants was 20.36 ± 1.85 years and 432 (86.1%) participants were female. The total mean PNAS score of the students is 84.74 ± 8.98, and their attitudes regarding the elderly and ageism were found to be positive. Bu araştırma hemşirelik bölümü öğrencilerinin ve klinik hemşirelerinin yaşlı ayrımcılığına ilişkin tutumlarını karşılaştırmak amacıyla kesitsel olarak yürütülmüştür. Araştırma örneklemi, bir üniversitenin hemşirelik bölümünde öğrenim görmekte olan birinci ve dördüncü sınıf öğrencileri (n=212) ile bir eğitim ve araştırma hastanesinde çalışan 45 hemşire oluşmuştur. Araştırmada veriler, tanıtıcı özelikler bilgi formu ve Yaşlı Ayrımcılığı Tutum Ölçeği kullanılarak toplanmıştır. Çalışmamızda, hemşireler ve hemşirelik bölümü öğrencilerinin, yaşlının yaşamını sınırlama, yaşlıya yönelik olumlu ayrımcılık, yaşlıya yönelik olumsuz ayrımcılık alt ölçek ortalama puanları ve toplam puan ortalamaları arasında anlamlı farklılık olduğu saptanmıştır. Hemşirelerin mesleki deneyim süreleri ile olumlu ayrımcılık puanları arasında anlamlı korelasyon olduğu, öğrencilerin yaşı ile olumlu ayrımcılık puanları arasında pozitif yönde anlamlı ilişki olduğu saptanmıştır. Yaşlı bakım hizmetlerinin kalitesinin artırılması yaşlılara ilişkin olumlu tutuma sahip olma ile yakından ilişkilidir. Hemşirelik uygulamalarından biri olan yaşlı bakımını geliştirmek için sürekli eğitim ve geriatri alanında sağlık bakım hizmetlerinin geliştirilmesi önerilmektedir.

ÖZ Kronik böbrek yetmezliği, ‘Glomerüler filtrasyon hızındaki azalma sonucunda böbreğin, sıvı­elektrolit dengesini düzenleme işlevinin ve metabolik-endokrin fonksiyonlarının irreversibl olarak bozulması’ olarak tanımlanmıştır. Glomerüler filtrasyon hızının 20-25 ml/dakika ve altında olması durumunda hastalara renal replasman tedavisi uygulanmaya başlanır. En sık uygulanan renal replasman tedavisi hemodiyalizdir. Hemodiyaliz tedavisi hastanın yaşamını devam ettirebilmesi için kullanılan ve hastaların haftanın belli zaman dilimlerinde bağlı olarak yaşaması gereken bir tedavi yöntemidir. Hastalar tedavi sırasında ya da sonrasında birçok semptomla karşı karşıya kalmaktadır. Hemodiyaliz hastalarında görülen semptomlar şu şekilde sıralanmıştır; yorgunluk (%81), nefes darlığı (%71), uykusuzluk (%67), iştahsızlık (%67), bulantı-kusma (%67), baş dönmesi (%57), kuru ve kaşıntılı cilt (%52), ishal/kabızlık (%48), ağrı (%48), baş ağrısı (%43), kas krampları (%38), uyuşukluk (%38), zayıflık (%33), göğüs ağrısı (%33), ödem (%33) olarak belirlenmiştir. Hastalığın ve tedavinin sonucunda ortaya çıkan semptomlar hastaları birçok yönden olumsuz olarak etkilemektedir. Bu nedenle semptom yönetimi önem kazanmaktadır. Hemodialysis treatment is a treatment method that is used for the survival of the patient and the patients should live depending on the time periods of the week. Patients experience many symptoms during or after treatment. Symptoms seen in hemodialysis patients are as follows; fatigue (81%), dyspnea (71%), insomnia (67%), loss of appetite (67%), nausea-vomiting (67%), dizziness (57%), dry and itchy skin (52%), diarrhea / constipation (48%), pain (48%), headache (43%), muscle cramps (38%), drowsiness (38%), weakness (33%), chest pain (33%), edema (33%). Symptoms resulting from disease and treatment adversely affect patients in many ways. Therefore, symptom management becomes important. The aim of this study was to inform nurses who work with hemodialysis patients with the diagnosis of chronic renal failure and to guide symptom management for appropriate and effective care.

Objective: This study was carried out in order to determine the perspective of the students studying in the nursing department towards ageism and to determine how their attitudes changed with the determined variables.Material and Methods: The research was conducted with 1744 nursing students who agreed to participate and whose consents were obtained online. Background:Percutaneous coronary interventions cause anxiety in patients, although these procedures are lifesaving.Aim:The aim of this study was to determine the effect of nature sounds and earplug interventions on the anxiety of patients after percutaneous coronary interventions.Methods:A randomized controlled trial design was used in this study. A total of 114 patients who were scheduled to undergo percutaneous coronary intervention were allocated to three groups in a randomized manner: two intervention groups (nature sound group, earplug group) and one control group. The Visual Analog Scale, State Anxiety Inventory and physiological parameters were used to measure anxiety. Data were collected from the patients at three time points: immediately before, immediately after and 30 minutes after the interventions.Results:The respiratory rates and the Visual Analog Scale and State Anxiety Inventory scores of patients in the nature sound and earplug groups immediately after and 30 minutes after the interventions were significantly lower than those of the control group ( p < 0.05). No differences were found when comparing respiratory rates, Visual Analog Scale scores and State Anxiety Inventory scores between patients in the nature sound group and patients in the earplug group ( p > 0.05). No changes were observed in the pulse and systolic/diastolic blood pressure values of patients in the control and intervention groups ( p > 0.05).Conclusions:It was determined that nature sounds and earplug interventions are effective in reducing the anxiety of patients following percutaneous coronary intervention.

Background/aim Widespread use of antiretroviral treatment (ART) has led to decrease in the incidence of HIV/AIDS-related mortality. Besides the availability of ART, medication adherence is essential for treatment success. There is a scarcity of data reported from Turkey regarding ART adherence among people living with HIV/AIDS (PLWHA). Therefore, this study was undertaken to determine medication adherence and related factors among PLWHA in Turkey. Materials and methods The sample consisted of 158 PLWHA, who were being followed up at Infectious Diseases Outpatient Clinic of Hacettepe University Hospital. Data were collected using an individual questionnaire and the Turkish version of the Morisky Medication Adherence Scale. Results The median patient age was 38 years, 80.4% were male, and 51.3% were married. The median duration of both HIV infection and ART was 3 years. Sixty-one percent used two drug regimens. Sixty-one percent were highly adherent to ART while 37.9% were moderately adherent. The absence/presence of social support resources, disease duration, ART duration, and being informed about the ART regimen were statistically associated with medication adherence. Conclusion Our results suggest that medication adherence is excellent among Turkish PLWHA. Interventions, including effective social support, and continuous counseling about ART, might further boost the adherence of PLWHA

Amaç: Bu araştırma, menopoza giren diyabetli kadınların deneyimledikleri ortak semptomların yaşam kalitesi parametreleri üzerindeki etkisini belirlemek amacıyla gerçekleştirilmiştir. Yöntem: Prospektif tek grup çalışma olarak gerçekleştirilen olarak gerçekleştirilen araştırmanın örneklemini diyabet tanısı almış, klimakterik dönemde olan 50-70 yaş aralığında olan 106 kadın hasta oluşturmuştur. Verilerin toplanmasında, ‘Demografik anket formu’, ‘Diyabet geçmiş öykü formu’ ve ‘UTİAN yaşam kalitesi Ölçeği’ kullanılmıştır. Bulgular: Klimakterik dönemde olan diyabetli kadınların %52.8’i 45-60, %43.4’ü 60 yaş üstü olup büyük bölümünün (%70.8) ilkokul ve altı eğitim aldığı belirlenmiştir. Hastaların diyabet tanı süreleri (%71.1) 6-20 yıl arasında değişmektedir. Çalışmaya katılan kadınların %45.3’ü diyabetin kronik komplikasyonlarından en az birini yaşadığı belirlenmiştir. Kadınlar arasında bekar olan, yüksek eğitim almış, disparoni ve inkontinans yaşamayanlar ve diyabet tedavisi olarak OAD kullananların yaşam kaliteleri diğer kadınlardan anlamlı olarak daha yüksektir. (p0,05). Sonuç: Diyabet ve menopozun ortak semptomlar içermesi nedeniyle bu durum kadınların hayatını olumsuz olarak etkilemektedir. Diyabetik kadın hastalarda menopoz ile ortaya çıkan belirtilerin doğru tanımlanarak hastaların yaşam kalitelerinin yükseltilmesinde eğitim, danışmanlık, takip gibi etkili hemşirelik yaklaşımlarının kullanılması oldukça önemlidir., Aim: This research was carried out to determine the effect of common symptoms experienced by diabetic women entering menopause on quality of life parameters.Material and Methods: The sample of the study, which was carried out as a prospective single-group study, consisted of 106 female patients between the ages of 50-70 who were diagnosed with diabetes and were in the climacteric period. 'Demographic questionnaire form', 'Diabetes past history form' and 'UTİAN quality of life Scale' were used for data collection.Results: It was determined that 52.8% of the diabetic women in the climacteric period were 45-60%, 43.4% were over 60 years old, and most of them (70.8%) received primary school or less education. The diabetes diagnosis period of the patients (71.1%) varies between 6-20 years. It was determined that 45.3% of the women participating in the study experienced at least one of the chronic complications of diabetes. Among women, the quality of life of those who are single, highly educated, who do not experience dyspareunia and incontinence, and those who use OAD as a diabetes treatment is significantly higher than other women. (p0,05).Conclusion: Since diabetes and menopause contain common symptoms, this situation negatively affects the lives of women. It is very important to use effective nursing approaches such as education, counseling, and follow-up in improving the quality of life of the patients by correctly identifying the symptoms that occur with menopause in diabetic female patients.

Introduction This study identifies depression, anxiety and state guilt of Turkish citizens kept in quarantine for 14 days in an institution where they are brought upon their request within the scope of infection control measures and the related affecting risk factors during the coronavirus pandemic. Methods A total of 385 individuals under quarantine for 14 days between the dates of April 20-May 21, 2020 were included in the study. The data were collected using a socio-demographic data form (age, gender, employment status, having sleep disorder, duration of television review and Internet use, etc.), Beck Anxiety Inventory (BAI), Beck Depression Inventory (BDI) and Guilt Scale (GS) after the participants were informed about the study objective and they signed the informed consent form. Results A total of 385 participants, 84 of whom were women, with a mean age of 35.32±11.7 were included in the study. According to BAI and BDI, 14.5% of the participants had anxiety and 17.1% had depression symptoms. The regression analysis found that female gender, having sleep disorder, using Internet for 8 hours or more and having chronic illness were risk factors for anxiety; while female gender, being aged 18-30, having sleep disorder, having psychiatric illness, and using Internet for 8 hours or more were risk factors for depression. The state guilt did not show any significant correlation with any socio-demographic factor. Conclusion Female gender, being young, having a history of psychiatric illness, having chronic illness, having sleep disorder, using Internet for 8 hours or more were found to be risk factors for more anxiety and depression symptoms. It is important to educate people about the methods of how to maintain healthy sleep during quarantine, to effectively fight against the excessive circulation of misinformation and to provide sufficient medical care to those with psychiatric and chronic diseases, being more vulnerable against infections.

Background: Chronic renal failure causes many physical problems in patients. Hemodialysis treatment and the stress that accompanies the treatment are high and this constitutes a basis for alexithymia. Changes in biomarkers cause physical symptoms and increase individuals’ stress levels. Methods: The sample for the researcher was completed with 72 individuals. Demographic data form, biochemical data form, Hemodialysis Stressor Scale, and Toronto Alexithymia Scale were used in this study. Results: Individuals participating in the study found that the perceived stress levels were high in all dimensions and 59.7% were alexithymic. Background: Chronic renal failure causes a number of physical problems in patients. Hemodialysis treatment and the stress brought along by the treatment are high and this circumstance sets the ground for alexithymia. Alexithymic feelings basically emerge as restriction in the world of emotion and thought, and inability to recognize physiological changes. Biomarkers that are indicators of physical change are influential in the stress lives of individuals. They lead to negative changes in the physical and mental lives of patients who have chronic kidney failure and individuals who receive hemodialysis treatment. This research was carried out as a relationship seeker in order to determine the influence of urea, creatinin, sodium, potassium, hemoglobin, hematocrit, albumin, calcium, phosphorus and C-reactive protein biomarkers on stress and alexithymia in individuals, who are diagnosed with chronic renal failure and receive hemodialysis treatment. Methods: The research environment was formed of patients who underwent hemodialysis treatment in a hospital in Turkey. The subject group was completed of 72 individuals. Demographic data form, biochemical data form, Hemodialysis Stressor Scale and Toronto Alexithymia Scale were used in the research. Results: It was found that the levels of perceived stress of individuals who participated in the research were high at all dimensions, and 59.7% were alexithymic. Health literacy (HL) competencies vary across different health domains, and so the youth HL level plays an important role in access to healthcare. The aim of this study was to determine HL levels, the factors that affect it and health-promoting lifestyle behaviours of university students. This cross-sectional study was conducted with 905 students in nursing, law and Islamic sciences departments. An introductory information form, European Health Literacy Scale and Health Promoting Lifestyle Behaviors Scale were used to collect research data. The results showed that 45% of the students had a problematic HL level. Each subscale of the HL scale exhibited a significant positive correlation with the subscales of the Health Promoting Lifestyle Behaviors scale. Logistic regression showed that gender and health education were significantly associated with the HL level. We recommend increasing awareness regarding health liability and integrating HL notions into the higher education curriculum.

In Turkey, farm machinery accidents are important factors for morbidity and mortality. In Western Black sea region, a specific farming toolis used, called 'Pat Pat'. In our clinic, we operated two patients with multiple lower extremity injuries occurred due to Pat Pat machines.First case had a right Gustilo-Anderson type IIIC open tibial fracture, anterior tibial artery disruption, and a left massive soft tissue defectwith popliteal nerve and artery disruption as determined by digital subtraction angiography. The second case had a right Gustilo-Andersontype IV open proximal tibial fracture, distal femoral fracture, and popliteal artery disruption. All injuries of popliteal arteries and veinsrepaired with saphenous vein interposition. On follow up, we observed that the saphenous vein grafts were thrombosed. We suppose thatvascular injuries occurred in those cases due to both penetrating and blunt mechanisms. Repeated thrombectomy was performed, and thepatency of the grafts were achieved. Heparin infusion (1000U/hour) was administered in first postoperative 24 hours, and the patientwas followed up every hour to keep activated clotting time ?200 sec. Consequently, saphenous veins of both cases were protected fromthrombosis. In conclusion, combination of penetrating and blunt trauma causing fractures and vascular injury to lower extremities can bemanaged with coordination of orthopedic, vascular and plastic surgeons. Prompt diagnosis, early intervention, heparin infusion in first 24hours and continuing with low-molecular-weight heparin results in successful management with palpable distal pulses and limb salvage inthose challenging injuries

This research is an intervention study designed as a single group pre-test post-test model without control group in order to examine the effect of education provided to nursing students based on peer education model on HIV/AIDS knowledge level and attitude.The research was carried out at Nursing Department of Ankara Yıldırım Beyazıt University. Sample of the study consisted of second year nursing students who agreed to participate in the study and enrolled Internal Medicine Nursing course for the first time (n = 88). In the first stage of the study, nine peer mentors were selected and a total of 12 h of training were given to them by the researchers. In the second stage, peer mentors provided a total of 12 h of training to nine peer students groups. All groups were created by simple randomization on the "research randomizer" website. Demographics questionnaire, AIDS knowledge scale and AIDS attitude scale were used to collect the data. Data was analyzed by using descriptive statistics, Pearson Chi-square test, paired sample t-Test, Wilcoxon test and Spearman correlation test.It was determined that peer education provided a statistically significant increase in AIDS knowledge scale score in peer students (pretest x¯=10.32 ± 3.59, posttest x¯=19.69 ± 1.51) (p 0.001). In addition, peer education was found to provide a statistically significant increase in AIDS attitude scale score in peer students (pretest x¯=56.64 ± 8.36, posttest x¯=72.95 ± 7.02) (p 0.001).It has been determined that peer education method is an effective method in increasing HIV/AIDS knowledge and attitude towards people living with HIV/AIDS in nursing students. Therefore, it is recommended to include peer education model in nursing educations regarding HIV/AIDS.

Objective: In this study, we investigated whether the relationship between internalized stigmatization, perceived social support and addictive dimensions in inpatients receiving alcohol, cannabinoid or opioid use disorder (AUD, CnUD, OpUD) in an addiction center changes according to the preferred substance. Method: At least primary school graduates who were followed up inpatient and who gave voluntary consent to participate in the study were included in the study. Descriptive information form, Dependency Profile Index (DPI), The Internalized Stigma of Mental Illness Scale (ISMI) and Multidimensional Perceived Social Support Scale (MPSS) were administered. Statistical analysis was performed with SPSS 23 program. Results: There was a negative correlation between MPSS and ISMI and DPI in patients with AUD. There was no correlation between ISMI and DPI in patients with AUD. A positive correlation was found between the ISMI stereotype endorsement subscale and DPI severe desire. subscale in patients with KnKB. In addition, a negative correlation was found between MPSS friend subscale and DPI effect on life subscale. There was no correlation between ISMI and DPI in patients with OpUD, but there was a positive correlation between ISMI stigmatization resistance subscale and DPI motivation to give up substance subscale; there was a negative correlation between MRSS friend subscale and ISMI stereotype endorsement subscale, MPSS special subscale and ISMI perceived discrimination subscale. Discussion: The effect of MPSS on ISMI and DPI was found to be higher in patients with AUD compared to those with both KnUD and OpUD. The results are important in terms of understanding the factors influencing internalized stigmatization and perceived social support, which are important in treatment success, and the need for different intervention methods in patients with different substance use disorders.

Nursing education in Turkey is given in different diploma degrees as a bachelor, master’s degree, and doctoral education. One of these is Internal Medicine Nursing Doctorate education. The aim of this study was to highlight the importance of doctoral training for the nursing profession and to present numbers of current students, new registry, and graduates from internal medicine nursing doctoral education according to years. Data from Internal Medicine Nursing PhD program from 1999-2000 academic year to 2016-2017 were examined. In this data, the number of new enrollments, the number of students, and the number of graduates are evaluated. The data up to 2013 were taken from Measurement, Selection, and Placement Center, and the data for the following years were received from the Council of Higher Education. The number of new registries and graduate students before and after 2010 was examined as two different periods. Accordingly, it was determined that there were 74 newly enrolled students and 31 graduate students in total, from 1999-2000 academic year to 2009-2010 academic year. In the following period between 2010-2018, although the data of 2 years are missing, the number of new registry and graduated students was 116 and 62, respectively. Although there is an increase in the number of students doing a doctorate in the field of Internal Medicine Nursing every year, it was seen that the number of institutions providing education on the basis of the Department of Internal Medicine Nursing and the number of doctoral students are still not at the desired level.

Introduction and Purpose. Farmers are particularly at high risk of pesticide exposure due to added risk from occupational exposure. The aim of this study is to evaluate knowledge level of farmers in the Çukurova region of the effects of pesticides, toxic symptoms, and protective equipment as well as assessing their attitudes and practices regarding pesticides. Material and Method. A total of 420 seasonal agricultural workers in Karataş District of Adana Province, Turkey, were included in the study. The questionnaire form consisting of 3 sections was administered using face-to-face interview method. Results. The mean age of the participants was 40.2±10.6 years. They were engaged in farming for a mean duration of 18.5±10.6 years. All of them used pesticides, but none of them had been trained on the use of pesticides. Only 26.2% of them stored pesticides in a private depot. The farmers who took empty pesticide containers to special collection bins or centers constituted only 4.3% of them. While 84.0% of them thought that pesticides could have a negative impact on human health, 5.0% of them had experienced a medical problem and 1.0% of them were poisoned after applying pesticides. Conclusion. The results show that knowledge level of farmers of safe use of pesticides is very inadequate. This lack of knowledge adversely affects workers’ quality of life as well as occupational health and safety. Appropriate training programs should be organized to increase their level of knowledge.
