Regular light cigarette consumption (light smoking) is increasing in many countries; however, few studies have assessed its impact on mortality. The main aim of this study is to estimate the association between the number of cigarettes consumed and all-cause mortality in Spain while focusing on light smoking.Longitudinal study based on data from 42,902 individuals aged ≥15 years included in the 2011-2012 (Spanish) National Health Survey or the 2014 European Health Survey for Spain. Data were linked with the mortality registry up to December 2020. Multivariate Cox regression models were used to estimate hazard ratios (HR) adjusted for sociodemographic variables, lifestyle factors, and health status indicators.Compared to never smokers, the mortality HR for nondaily smokers was 1.30 (95% CI: 0.81-2.09), increasing to 2.23 (95% CI: 1.25-3.96) among those smoking 1-2 cigarettes/d, and to 1.54 (95%CI: 1.14-2.07) for consumers of 3-5 cigarettes/day. When individuals who reported trying to quit during the previous year were excluded, resulting HRs were 1.31 (95% CI: 0.81-2.10), 1.48 (95% CI: 0.69-3.19) and 1.64 (95% CI: 1.16-2.34), respectively.Compared to never smokers, consumers of small quantities of tobacco, that is, light smoking, had an increased mortality risk. In view of these results, we suggest the need for awareness-raising campaigns regarding how smoking even a small number of cigarettes a day causes serious harm to one´s health.

En los últimos tiempos se ha observado un aumento de la esperanza de vida que ha resultado en un buen porcentaje de la población superando los 65 años de edad, y aunque el envejecimiento de estas personas sea sano, es necesario abordar los cambios cognitivos que este proceso provoca. Una de las áreas más comúnmente afectadas en esta población envejecida es el lenguaje. Si bien podemos encontrar multitud de programas de intervención para estimular el lenguaje en población con deterioro cognitivo, el número de propuestas observadas para tratar los cambios en un envejecimiento sano o incluso en un deterioro cognitivo leve es mucho menor. Por otro lado, debemos tener en cuenta que debido a factores que escapan nuestro control, es innegable que el contacto social de esta población ha sufrido un descenso considerable, creando un factor de riesgo para posibles problemas mayores. El trabajo que se expone a continuación incluye un marco teórico elaborado a través de revisión bibliográfica, que aborda los cambios en el proceso de envejecimiento, haciendo especial hincapié en el lenguaje, y las bases para la intervención y estimulación del mismo. Además de esta revisión, se incluyen los resultados de una prueba de evaluación del lenguaje a una muestra de adultos mayores sanos o con deterioro cognitivo leve, con el fin de determinar las áreas más afectadas. La finalidad de este TFG consiste en crear un cuaderno o dossier de estimulación lingüística para pacientes ancianos con un envejecimiento normal o con deterioro cognitivo leve, cuyo objetivo fundamental sería el de mejorar o mantener el lenguaje a través de la estimulación del mismo., Grado en Logopedia

In 2014, the first case of secondary Ebola infection outside Africa detected in Spain, caused a sense of global threat. This study assess Risk Perception amongst the health personnel and identify the agents that amplified or reduced it. Through a snowball sampling, 5 in-depth interviews were carried out. Inclusion´s criteria: treating the patient suspected of Ebola and/or of having been actively involved in the management of the crisis. Triangulation and member checking were used to validate findings. Field work was between February and June 2015. In Risk Perception´s construction were involved Formation, Management of Information and Trust. Political and Health Authorities, Media and Unions acted as amplifiers whereas the Expert Committee and Hospital Management as reducers. Peer-to-peer behavior acted as a reducer amongst the medical staff and as an amplifier between the nursing and cleaning staff. This information would be relevant to better manage a health crisis of this characteristics.En 2014, el primer caso de infección secundaria por ébola fuera de África detectado en España provocó una sensación de amenaza global. Este estudio evaluó la Percepción de Riesgo (PR) entre el personal de sanitario e identificó los agentes que la amplificaron o la redujeron. A través de un muestreo de bola de nieve, se realizaron 5 entrevistas en profundidad, siendo los criterios de inclusión: tratar al paciente con sospecha de ébola y/o haber participado activamente en el manejo de la crisis en el centro hospitalario. Se utilizó la triangulación para validar y verificación los resultados. El trabajo de campo se realizó entre febrero y junio de 2015. Los factores claves en la construcción de Percepción de Riesgo fueron la formación, la gestión de la información, el trato percibido por el personal sanitario y la confianza en las autoridades sanitarias. Las autoridades políticas y sanitarias, los medios de comunicación y los sindicatos actuaron como amplificadores de la PR, el Comité de Expertos y la Dirección del hospital lo hicieron como reductores de la PR. El comportamiento entre iguales actuó como reductor entre el personal médico y como amplificador entre el personal de enfermería y de limpieza. Se trata de información relevante de cara a manejar situaciones de crisis sanitarias de similares características.

Despite the biological plausibility of the association between heavy metal exposure and mental health disorders, epidemiological evidence remains scarce. The objective was to estimate the association between heavy metals and metalloids in soil and the prevalence of mental disorders in the adult population of Spain. Methods Individual data came from the Spanish National Health Survey 2011–2012, 18,073 individuals residing in 1772 census sections. Mental health was measured with the 12-item General Health Questionnaire. The concentration estimates of heavy metal and metalloid levels in topsoil (upper soil horizon) came from the Geochemical Atlas of Spain based on 13,317 soil samples. Levels of lead (Pb), arsenic (As), cadmium (Cd) and manganese (Mn) were estimated in each census section by “ordinary Kriging”. Odds ratios (OR) were calculated by multilevel logistic regression models. Results Compared with the lowest Pb concentration levels quartile, the OR for the second quartile was 1.29 (95%CI: 1.11–1.50), increasing progressively to 1.37 (95%CI: 1.17–1.60) and 1.51 (95%CI: 1.27–1.79) in the third and fourth quartiles, respectively. For As, the association was observed in the third and fourth quartiles: 1.21 (95%CI: 1.04–1.41) and 1.42 (95% CI: 1.21–1.65), respectively. Cd was associated also following a gradient from the second quartile: 1.34 (95%CI: 1.15–1.57) through the fourth: 1.84 (95%CI: 1.56–2.15). In contrast, Mn only showed a positive association at the second quartile. Additionally, individuals consuming vegetables > once a day the OR for the fourth quartile of Pb concentration, vs. the first, increased to 2.93 (95%CI: 1.97–4.36); similarly for As: 3.00 (95%CI: 2.08–4.31), and for Cd: 3.49 (95%CI: 2.33–5.22). Conclusions Living in areas with a higher concentration of heavy metals and metalloids in soil was associated with an increased probability of having a mental disorder. It is likely that pollution from chemical facilities will affect the health of any exposed population; however, the majority of scientific evidence available has focused on occupational exposure rather than environmental. Consequently, this study assessed whether there could have been an excess of cancerrelated mortality associated with environmental exposure to pollution from chemical installations e for populations residing in municipalities in the vicinity of chemical industries. To this end, we designed an ecological study which assessed municipal mortality due to 32 types of cancer in the period from 1999 to 2008. The exposure to pollution was estimated using distance from the facilities to the centroid of the municipality as a proxy for exposure. In order to assess any increased cancer mortality risk in municipalities potentially exposed to chemical facilities pollution (situated at a distance of 5 km from a chemical installation), we employed Bayesian Hierarchical Poisson Regression Models. This included two Bayesian inference methods: Integrated Nested Laplace Approximations (INLA) and Markov Chain Monte Carlo (MCMC, for validation). The reference category consisted of municipalities beyond the 5 km limit. We found higher mortality risk (relative risk, RR; estimated by INLA, 95% credible interval, 95%CrI) for both sexes for colorectal (RR, 1.09; 95%CrI, 1.05e1.15), gallbladder (1.14; 1.03e1.27), and ovarian cancers (1.10; 1.02e1.20) associated with organic chemical installations. Notably, pleural cancer (2.27; 1.49e3.41) in both sexes was related to fertilizer facilities. Associations were found for women, specifically for ovarian (1.11; 1.01e1.22) and breast cancers (1.06; 1.00e1.13) in the proximity of explosives/pyrotechnics installations; increased breast cancer mortality risk (1.10; 1.03e1.18) was associated with proximity to inorganic chemical installations. Este trabajo trata sobre el personal laboral con contrato indefinido - no fijo al servicio de la Administración pública. Los empleados públicos desempeñan funciones retribuidas en la Administración pública. Gracias a estos empleados, la Administración puede responder a las necesidades que tienen los ciudadanos y pueden gestionar y organizar los servicios públicos. El TREBEP clasifica a los empleados públicos en funcionarios de carrera, funcionarios interinos, personal laboral por tiempo indefinido o temporal y personal eventual. El contrato indefinido - no fijo es una figura contractual que se encuentra entre el personal temporal y los funcionarios. El origen de esta figura es básicamente jurisprudencial y la relación con la Administración es a través de un contrato de trabajo. Este tipo de empleado surge por el abuso por parte de al Administración de los contratos temporales. Los tribunales son quienes responden a las cuestiones planteadas sobre el cese de estos trabajadores, Departamento de Derecho Público, Grado en Relaciones Laborales y Recursos Humanos

Cuando un individuo sufre un accidente cerebrovascular (ACV) el tiempo desde que inicia los síntomas hasta que se instaura el tratamiento es determinante para reducir las posibles secuelas. Por eso es esencial la difusión, por parte de los equipos sanitarios, tanto de medidas preventivas, como de signos de alarma y pautas de actuación (para abreviar tiempo entre inicio de síntomas y aviso a sistema sanitario) que conciencien a la sociedad de la magnitud del problema. La coordinación entre los distintos niveles de atención, la comunicación en las diferentes áreas del hospital y el trabajo en equipo favorecerán la mejora de resultados El papel de la enfermería en el ictus es clave en todas las fases: educación para la salud, detección precoz, cuidados durante el desarrollo de la enfermedad, prevención de complicaciones y fase de recuperación. Por eso en este trabajo de fin de grado se expone, a través de una revisión bibliográfica, como se desarrolla este papel tan necesario e importante que tiene la enfermería en este tipo de patologías., Grado en Enfermería

[ES]El Convenio Europeo del Paisaje (CEP), primer tratado internacional de desarrollo sostenible, en el que se define el paisaje como: “Una parte del territorio tal y como es percibida por la población, cuyo carácter resulta de la acción de factores naturales y/o humanos y de sus interrelaciones", surge ante la preocupación por la degradación sin precedentes del paisaje en Europa en la segunda mitad del siglo XX. El CEP reconoce en la educación como instrumento para la conservación del paisaje. El objetivo de esta investigación es comprobar el grado de interés y la viabilidad de incluir el paisaje en el sistema educativo. Para ello se realizaron entrevistas en profundidad a personas expertas en paisaje, cuestionarios a estudiantes y grupos de discusión a docentes. El estudio tuvo lugar en la Comunidad de Madrid (España). Entre los resultados cabe señalar la ausencia del componente identitario en la conceptualización del paisaje la falta de interés de los estudiantes por incluirlo en sus planes de estudio por considerar que no les facilitará su incorporación al mercado laboral y la inviabilidad para incluirlo en el sistema educativo por la resistencia que generaría entre el personal docente y la falta de recursos. Con base en estos resultados se recomienda dejar de introducir el paisaje como asignatura, sino hacerlo como parte del ambiente de aprendizaje y dentro del marco de las escuelas inclusivas, ya que es en este ámbito donde existe una mayor aproximación entre el objetivo del CEP y la práctica educativa. [EN] The European Landscape Convention (CEP), first international treatment of sustainable development, in which the landscape is defined as "A part of the territory as perceived by people, whose character results from the action of natural and / or human factors and their interrelations,”it arises from the unprecedented concern on landscape ́s degradation in Europe during the second part of XX century. CEP recognizes education as a tool for landscape conservation. The aim of this research is to check the degree of interest and feasibility of including landscape in the education system. To do this, we conducted in-depth interviews with experts in landscape, questionnaires to students, and discussion groups for teachers. The study took place in Madrid (Spain) Community. Among the results, we highlight the absence of the identity component in the conceptualization of the landscape; the lack of interest among the students to include it in their curriculum, because it not facilitate theirincorporation into the labor market; and the impossibility for his inclusion in the educational system, because of the teacher’s resistance and lack of resources. Based on these results it is recommended not introducing the landscape as a subject anymore,but make it as a learning environment and within the framework of inclusive schools, since it is the field with the closer relationship between the objective of CEP and educational practice.
